One of the Family

By Charlie Johnston

Last week we taped Part V of the Talkabout Series – “Back to the Manger.” I think you will enjoy it, especially with all the extra guests who popped in to wish you all a Merry Christmas!

In my last piece, I said I would be in Washington for the Inauguration. Instead, I will be there on January 6, 2021, the day that Congress must decide whether to accept the electors from the electoral college or not. Without even going into the internals of election software, the evidence of massive fraud is overwhelming. We are at war with a corrupt internal force that seeks to smash the fundamentals of our Republic. I pray that we may still step back from the precipice. This is a great spiritual battle that will be played out with temporal battles, as well, if we don’t stop the steal. This may be our last chance to demilitarize before widespread open conflict begins. If over a million patriots show up in Washington on Jan. 6, perhaps even Democrats and the idiot media will figure out that no matter how much they ignore the evidence and try to shut the rubes up that this time the country will not buy what they are peddling. Alas, this may be as futile as trying to convince Kaiser Wilhelm at the start of WWI that he was not unstoppable or of convincing Adolf Hitler of the same at the start of WWII. Let’s give it a last try. I will let you know where any CORAC and ASOH members who want to join the protest can meet up.

One of my dearest friends from high school unexpectedly lost her husband to a viral infection, almost certainly Covid, a few days ago. Please offer prayers for my friend, Jane, who played in band with me and whose whole family was a second family to me.

As much as I decry the disproportionate response by government, we must never forget that viruses, while common, can be deadly. Please take a look at this piece by Dr. Brian Joondeph about the new vaccines available. One of the heartening things about Dr. Joondeph is that his pronouncements over the last year on the subject have been almost universally sound and solid. I trust him because he has taken time to get things as right as he can – and time has proven him. (Correction – Several readers have given me credible sources which bring into serious question whether the one I mentioned as not using fetal cells actually does at a stage of production. I think I jumped the gun on it and will now wait for the report on Covid Steve BC is doing to see if there is any that are licit-CJ). I will not get the vaccine, but I fully respect the decisions of others – and so I pray that the piece by Dr. Joondeph and the knowledge that there is at least one that you can take in fully good conscience will help you make an informed decision on what you should do for you and your family.

One of the things that strikes me strongest in contemplating the Nativity is that Jesus Christ, in fully taking on our humanity, chose to become fully part of the family of man. As He is also fully divine, His incarnation is an invitation to us, His brothers and sisters, to be fully integrated into the Divine Family. Like Him, we have the choice whether or not to accept, but His very incarnation gives us power to choose Him and integration into the Divine Family.

I often say that family is the brick upon which culture and society is built. If you start with good, healthy bricks, you will have good healthy institutions. Family is also the first Church. So, at this Christmas, I pray that all of you celebrate the fullness of your family, both temporal and divine.

Because of a glitch in our donation system, a glitch that turned out to be very minor as we refined the system, things have gone slowly for our end of the year campaign for CORAC. I ask again that you open your hearts – and wallets – to us. If you cannot get through at the online portal, you can send a check made out to:

Corps of Renewal and Charity

13940 W. 26th Ave.

Golden, Colorado 80401

The bank prefers that you spell out the name rather than just abbreviating it as CORAC on checks. The problems of getting through now are minimized, but seem to be more related to the individual’s browser and security settings than to any systemic problems. God bless you and thank you. We have a heck of a year coming up. Thanks to all of you who have chosen to be one of the family with us.

        1. Ha! Before this, there was no redhead in my family tree (though my mother had a deep auburn-brown natural color when she was young), but all three of my grandsons are redheads. Go figure. I figure this grandson must be a Trump supporter as he has the same color hair as the prez (but needs no combover).

          1. Hey! my mother, too, had auburn-brown locks. Actually, “history of maternal auburn-brown hair” was on the qualifications list when I applied for the managing editor position. 🤪

  1. Merry and Blessed Celebration of our Lord’s Birth to all! Last evening, we had our beautiful Mass celebrated on Teypeac Hill, in the Heart of Texas! It was glorious! Stars big and bright, and 40 degrees, with numbing toes and fingers. Felt like one of the shepherds, from Bethlehem. Yes, it has been a remarkable year. Some good things, some very sad, some confusing, some promising. It is amazing how people are preparing around us. Pray for our President, and our enemies. I am not sure however if anyone over there can be able to turn back. After listening to something last evening on socialism into communism, it seems one has pretty much lost their souls, at least their minds when it comes to ‘stepping over this line’. Excellent short interview. “Paul Kengor: Communist Destruction Guides Modern Social Movements” Crossroads with Josh Phillips (youTube). The gentleman is a Christian professor @ Grove City College and author of “Marx and the Devi.” Take care good people, I will be praying for the CORAC group who goes to DC. Remember every prayer counts.

  2. Merry Christmas Charlie! God Bless you and your family. Chaz looks like the younger you (based on a picture from your radio days you posted a while back). What a beautiful family he (and you) has/have. I am sorry to hear about your dear friend Jane’s loss… especially at this time of year. I will pray for the repose of her husbands soul and that our Blessed Mother wrap Jane in her loving arms as only a mother can do.

  8. Merry Christmas to all squirrels here. And prayers go out for all going to DC for the January 6th showdown. May God’s will be done. Amen.

Also, from my research, Charlie, I found the Lozier Institute posted a list of mostly all the companies and the Covid vaccines that they were working on. The list identifies the vaccines that have some involvement with fetal cell lines. According to this list, it appears that AstraZeneca’s vaccine uses aborted fetal cells. Do you have a different source that says otherwise? Just wondering because I don’t plan on getting the vaccine either. SteveBC’s preventative protocol is working just for me.

The link to the Covid vaccine list is…(And I found it easier to read it by downloading the pdf file)…

  9. The USCCB has this link on their website concerning the vaccines.

this is a quote from this link ““In view of the gravity of the current pandemic and the lack of availability of alternative vaccines, the reasons to accept the new COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna are sufficiently serious to justify their use, despite their remote connection to morally compromised cell lines.

“Receiving one of the COVID-19 vaccines ought to be understood as an act of charity toward the other members of our community. In this way, being vaccinated safely against COVID-19 should be considered an act of love of our neighbor and part of our moral responsibility for the common good.””

I am confused. I thought abortion was wrong.

Is it true that over 99% of the people who get the corona virus aka Covid19 recover?

Is it ok then to have a vaccine developed from the cells of aborted babies for the flu and any other viral disease?

    Has the Church’s stance changed?

    Liked by 4 people

    1. It’s true that more than 99% of folks recover from the covid, Ingeniero. Jeff Mirus writes here and makes reference to Dignitatis Personae, an instruction of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith approved and ordered to be promulgated by Pope Benedict XVI. In it states:
Of course, within this general picture there exist differing degrees of responsibility. Grave reasons may be morally proportionate to justify the use of such “biological material”. Thus, for example, danger to the health of children could permit parents to use a vaccine which was developed using cell lines of illicit origin, while keeping in mind that everyone has the duty to make known their disagreement and to ask that their healthcare system make other types of vaccines available. Moreover, in organizations where cell lines of illicit origin are being utilized, the responsibility of those who make the decision to use them is not the same as that of those who have no voice in such a decision. [no. 35]

If one uses this counsel, with covid’s 99+% survival rate, it would need to be a very grave illness for one to even begin to consider a vaccine that uses fetal cell lines no matter how old they may be. Bishop Strickland’s latest advice is to be patient for untainted vaccines to be developed. Added to the high recovery rate are reports such as this one emphasizing advice – such as Steve BC’s – which are becoming widely known and practiced.

      1. Excellent answer, Beckita. I would also add that there is not only a theological moral issue with using aborted fetal cells in the development of vaccines, but also a physiological one as disscussed in this open letter to the New York legislature in April 2019 when New York State under Gov. Cuomo was considering mandatory vaccinations for everybody with no exemptions.

It would be prudent for anyone that is considering any vaccine to read it. Then do diligent research on which vaccines to use.

        To quote from the article…

“Anyone who says that the fetal DNA contaminating our vaccines is harmless either does not know anything about immunity and Toll- like receptors or they are not telling the truth.”…

“If fetal DNA can trigger labor (a naturally desired autoimmune reaction), then those same levels in vaccines can trigger autoimmunity in a child. Fragmented fetal DNA contained in vaccines is of similar size, ~215 base pairs.[iii]”…

“This is direct biological evidence that fetal DNA contaminants in vaccines are not in low innocuous amounts. They are a very strong proinflammatory trigger.”

      2. The article you link, Beckita, from Fox in Houston, is an excellent summary of what Steve has been saying, as well as others, for many months. The news about Vit. D, especially, is finally getting out. It is crucial for prevention and is now even being used as treatment in the hospital quoted in the article.

      DECEMBER 21, 2020
“Isolation continues: evil requires this virus not to stop, so that humanity would be plunged into despair, and so that evil would thus take control of everything that exists.
The human being anxiously takes what is offered to it out of fear of infection, without considering that, as the virus continues to grow, what is offered will be unable to combat it.”

    3. There are several interesting conundrums to taking a vaccine.
One is the high ineffective rate which is 35%- 50% (and that is after the two required doses). Another is the fact most people not only survive covid-19 but many already have immunity or some immunity to it by past exposure to one or more of the 4 common cold coronoviri which are similar enough to create memory t-cells that defeat covid-19. This creates the “asymptomatic” aspect of some persons who carry covid-19 who
are showing immunity to a “novel” virus that is obviously not novel to their memory t-cells. This can cause some confusion to exactly which virus they are immune to or wether the vaccine is creating a resistance or one simply carries immunity from some past exposure. One study shows memory t-cell immunity can last past 7 years so the chance of reinfection is minimal after catching covid-19 or from a past exposure to one or more of the other 4 types of coronoviri that then leads to covid-19 immunity. This study remains largely unreported or ignored.
Another interesting fact is the vaccine will not reduce the contagion level but just it’s severity and length of time so mask wearing and social distancing will be still be required until a person is “immune”. Right now, there are no tests being given for *immunity* but whether or not one has covid or not (and these have a high degree of inaccuracy too) so proving immunity after recieving a vaccine which is 35%-50% ineffective makes for an interesting future.

  10. Merry Christmas Charlie and blessings to all here… On Christmas Eve Mass, during the Eucharist, I heard and my wife heard and saw, somebody dropped something on the floor. It sounded like a little stone or a marble hit the floor. Prompted by my wife, I went to pick it up. It turned out to be a piece ( perhaps 1/5 of a whole ) of a consecrated Host… It was astonishing that such a little piece of the Holy Host made a distinct sound when dropped.

  11. Interesting article in American Thinker. Briefly the article states that VP Pence will be presiding as president of the Senate on Jan 6th and his power will be plenary and unappealable. This article maintains that VP Pence can discount the electoral votes from the seven states that present two sets of votes … This would mean Trump has 232 electoral votes and Biden 222.

    1. Whoa, Farm Girl! January 6th is pivotal. If Pence discounts the votes from those seven states, it may well become the shot heard round the world once again. The Left will n.o.t. stand for such a deed. Oh the figurative fireworks that would ensue! Perhaps a baptism by fire into the toughest phase of the Storm… and January 6th is the Feast of the Epiphany. CORAC should be there 🙂 , standing for Faith, Family and Freedom.

        1. Whoa! I am not yet able to commit to organizing officially and have other matters to look into first. I am praying and discerning. For now, I encourage Regions 1 thru 16 to build up the resources that we are in order to make this CORAC mission to *save the republic* by stopping the election hoax one that we have all hands on deck for. Please contact your Regional Director, if you want to be a part of the prayer team across America, or if you can volunteer to report on, send pics/videos in real time, upload/post said media to other social media platforms, can seek out funds from third parties earmarked for the trip, make/plan group lodging, would like to organize of co-organize the effort, are driving and can share rides, can collaborate with other groups for meetups once there in DC, and any other service you think can assist us in this amazing cause. Now is the time, let’s see what our CORAC team is made of, shall we? 😉 Onward CORAC soldiers. ❤

        2. Sure, Farm Girl. First of all, I was thinking of the folks who are going to DC on January 6th. When I heard rumblings that some CORAC folks might join Charlie, I knew Fr. Wang and I wouldn’t be able to make it, but we could certainly pray and the whole thing gave me a happy chill of excitement to realize this could be the maiden event of the public presence of CORAC with Charlie and all who might join him.

I LOVE the way God spoke to Gideon who wondered at how ordinary he and his people were…

The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”

The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”

Enter 2021 as we strive to be on God’s side and claim what Our Lord conveyed to Gideon: “I will be with you…” even as Our Lady of Tepeyac’s words to Juan Diego, echo in our hearts: “Am I not here, I, who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not the source of your joy? Are you not in the hollow of my mantle, in the crossing of my arms? Do you need anything more? Let nothing else worry you, disturb you.”

Given the purpose of CORAC, I thought those who are able to caravan there (January 6th is the Feast of the Epiphany when there was another caravan on the move) or simply meet up together shall be a living icon of this Biblical verse:

What a beautiful sight to behold—
the precious feet of the messenger
coming over the mountains to announce good news!
He comes to refresh us with wonderful news,
announcing salvation to Zion and saying,
          “Your Mighty God reigns!”

          Indeed, our God reigns!

      2. a beautiful interplay of fire and water–fire as from a volcanic lava flow into the ocean that is not put out by the storm waves and produces towering steam and smoke plumes. “And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead them along the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night; the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night did not depart from before the people. 12. Dear ASOH family,

Merry Christmas to all! ❤️ I am begging for prayers as usual. 😀 My dear 13mo old granddaughter whom I am helping to raise is experiencing what seems to be absence seizures. Please pray for this precious little soul. My suffering is quite intense for my own children, but it seems to be doubly so for my grandchildren. I suppose it is because your child (the parent) and your grandchild are both suffering. As always, I am offering up my pain for my family and begging for strength to endure. Also, the father of this grandchild has hired a lawyer to try to gain overnight visitation which is not in her best interest with all her health issues. This man seems to be a little unstable and unreasonable. He wanted to abort his child and then blocked my daughter on social media. It wasn’t until my granddaughter was 9 months old that he came into the picture and then with big demands. Pray that all these issues are resolved. Thank you! ❤️

  13. Christmas blessings to Charlie, Beckita, and all here! Beckita, please thank Father for the beautiful blessing. Love the video! It was really nice to put faces to our regional squirrels that comment here.

Charlie, your grandkids are absolutely adorable! Their facial expressions gave me a chuckle. I love it when kids just go on doing their own thing when you want them to give you a smile.

Also Charlie, sorry about your friend’s husband. May he rest in the peace of Christ and I will offer my Divine Mercy Chaplet today for him and the family. It’s always hard losing a dear one, but even harder during the Christmas season.

I am grateful for the gift of all who share and comment here. You fill me with hope in getting through this storm, you help strengthen my faith in humanity and you lift me up when I am down or discouraged. The love of so many shines bright on this blog. As we ponder the babe in the manger and the hope He brings, I want to share a Christmas poem I sent out a few years back.

There’s a love that was sent to us
    One starry night
    Under a star that
    Was shining so bright

He was sent from our Father
    In Heaven above
To save us and pour out
    The depth of His love

    Christ-mas was born
    In a stable so bare
    By a mother so giving
    Her Son she would share

He was sent down to earth
And by faith He would show
    The love of a Father
    The whole world should know

    So as we all gather
    On this perfect day
    Let’s always remember
    His love lights the way

    And as the year closes
    I want to wish you
    All the love Jesus brings
And a blessed New Year, too.

    Have a beautiful Christmas!

    Your sister in Christ,

While talking with a nephew this morning I heard myself refer to the current state of masked sheep locked out of most commercial and spiritual pleasures as a time of COMMUNIST KINDERGARTEN. We had a regular Joyful Christmas family celebration with the addition of a niece’s cousin from Oklahoma who was covidfearfully excluded from her close family. One MD was there. No masks. I am still shocked to discover younger folks in their 30s unaware of the socialist implications or fragile times we are living in.

  16. Merry Christmas. 🎄🎁
I spent mine with a large family that I just met here in Isabel, SD — Catholic ranchers and a local business-owning family. Among other things, I shot a pistol, chased dozens of male pheasants with a Ford pickup, dodged cattle on 2000 acres of ranch land, drank “some” 😉 bourbon, played Christmas carols on an out-of-tune piano, and trapped a huge beaver who was destroying trees on their property. Pretty unique Christmas. How was yours?

Ok, so a quote from Dr Joondeph to start my rant:

“What if someone already had COVID? Should they be vaccinated? The Operation Warp Speed chief says yes as an infection may or may not produce an adequate and long-lasting immune response.”

THAT is the rub, or one of them at least.

Well, Mr. Warp-Speed Chief, I probably have been exposed to the coronavirus multiple times this year. In fact, I had two Covid-positive patients just this past Monday at a small clinic here in SD. Yet I haven’t been sick since a brief and undiagnosed (as in unidentified) viral infection in May. It seems clear to me that my immune system is working quite well, adequately, in fact. So….

For how long am I immune if I was exposed to Covid?
What’s this vague, unproven “immune for only four months” jazz all about? So the immunity quickly wears off? In just a few weeks? I took *several* immunology courses and that don’t quite jive. So give me some real data.

The truth is: We just don’t know. I’ve got B cells humoral immunity and killer T cells, but ok….whatever. I’ll roll with it and just ask my next question:

How long, then, will this vaccine protect me? Haven’t seen an answer to that one. If it’s no better
than my innate and acquired immune system which allegedly only mounts resistance for four months when exposed to the actual live coronavirus, why bother with an experimental mRNA vaccine? Maybe it’s better….this is new to me.

    A follow up question:
How many strains of the virus are there? Last I heard: 3. Betcha there are many more. Ask an epidemiologist. And which particular strain are these two vaccines protecting us against, or does it not matter? And once again I ask, for how long? Weeks? Four months?

Each year we do our best to anticipate that year’s strain of the flu ….sometimes we nail it and sometimes we don’t. It’s a crap shoot. Just saying we do a lot of guessing.

🇺🇸 But my biggest fear is what I suspect will inevitably come next, well after this initial round of vaccinations:

WHEN will Americans be mandated by their employers to get the vaccine? Right now influenza and Hep B are required of healthcare workers. When will the Covid vaccine?

And here’s the really scary question: When will citizens be required to present evidence of current vaccination to Covid before being permitted to enter a grocery store to buy food??

In this situation, it’d be harder to buy food in this country than to vote.

    Food for thought. 😐

We've created this guide to support you as you fight oppression knowing that passivity only signals that more rules will be complied with.
Thank you for valuing your religious or medical exemptions, and we would ask that you'd take 2 minutes to share this resource by sharing this link on social:
        We appreciate you!

P.S. These guides you've been getting are a part of our production for Operation Flood which I'll shoot an invite over to you in the next email so you can join our AMAZING tribe standing shoulder to shoulder for medical freedom.

        1. LYNN;
Unfortunately the New Normal you refer to is still months if not years away. To wit: The tens of millions of people who are still fully hook, line, and sinker’d. We won’t shake this overnight hence my efforts to display flagrant muzzle disobedience. [see my post below]
If just one or two people who hate muzzles but compliantly wear one out of apathy saw me in Wal-Mart without one, maybe…just maybe they might be encouraged to resist. Indeed, people went mad in hoards and may only recover one by one.

        1. Strange you would mention such a thing today, Patrick of SD,

When I went to Communion this morning, something happened that’s never happened before:

The priest kind of held out the Eucharist towards me but did NOT say “The Body of Christ” … it was like he was afraid to say it because of germs, and maybe even wanted me to receive silently? (To be honest, I really don’t know, but he did mention during Mass that about a half dozen parishioners had died over Christmas weekend.) He was masked and of course I had pulled my mask fully down to receive Communion. Anyways, I said “Amen” and received Communion in the hand. I prefer receiving on the tongue, maybe this priest remembered that and was nervous for that reason? This is a priest whom I really like, you can count on him for a good sermon and he has always struck me as being a good priest.

Definitely a good reminder to pray for our priests! They’re human like the rest of us.

p.s. my Christmas was a lot more inactive 😉

    3. And….why is it permissible to say it is my body and kill the baby inside of me but not (if vaccines are mandated) it is my body and I won’t let you vaccinate me? / It doesn’t work right now with face masks.
I’m guessing logic isn’t a strong point on the left.

    4. Merry Christmas Patrick of SD. Ours was not as action packed. We had a light feast and watched and enjoyed our library’s copy of the movie ‘Infidel’ starring Jim Caveizel.
On the medical front, your thoughts are concerning, and why I sense so strongly that we have to take a stand for our faith, family and freedom, in haste! I cannot recommend enough the ongoing work of the collaborators/expert advise from the 2020 Health Freedom Summit. If I am correct, some of the participants/experts are friends of CORAC! I am an email subscriber and they have continued to offer updates to their Spring 2020 three day conference as time passes and offer free access to the raw data and have provided this amazing resource and permission to share far and wide:

We just finished a massive project: The Health Freedom Summit Media Guide. (It’s called that not because it’s OUR source list, but because it’s YOURS.)
We asked the Health Freedom Summit attendees who their trusted news and health information sources were; several hundred of you wrote back and generously shared your most trusted sources for films, news, health, and faith-based sources.
Download your media guide here, and please don’t forget to share with your networks! We appreciate you!

        1. Patick, here is an excerpt from HFS latest newsletter that introduces an initiative, “Operation Flood” that would be a valuable resource for faith, family, freedom on the health fronts that may be of interest of our CORAC medical and health teams:

“Inspiration for OPERATION FLOOD was partly drawn from Winston Churchill’s Operation Dynamo.
The National Socialist German Workers’ Party (NAZI party) was dominating France; British forces at Dunkirk were doomed for obliteration by artillery and air strikes, but the Royal Navy called upon its citizens to organize a rescue mission deemed “The Miracle at Dunkirk” whereby 850 small sea vessels manned by regular citizens took it upon themselves to implement the largest evacuation in military history.

It is now our moment to follow the example of these heroes.

Operation Flood Aims to Inform, Equip, and Direct.

We will inform you about bills, laws, studies, history, and current events regarding Health Freedom.
We will equip you with tools, products, technologies, language and artwork that you can use to personally enhance your health and individual freedoms, and share with your community….”

    5. Patrick, I researched that very question – how long does it last? And the answers I found were that the vax is the same as a flu shot and lasts about 6 months – same as a flu shot… Here in OR I was a an RN for the state and although I administered flu shots to those who wanted them, no one was required to have one. They did encourage Hep A & Hep B because of the possibility of blood contamination and because they were free. 😉 I don’t know why the Hep A, but free is a very good price. Oh, perhaps because they would feed us if on a double shift. 🤷🏼‍♀️
So far neither the Archbishop nor the state of Oregon is requiring anything. Even testing is optional at this time. We no longer have to sign in for mass. Of course, all this could change in a Harris administration…
      God save us!
Ongoing prayers, katey (retired, thank God!)

      1. Thanks Katy. Still….How long has the vaccine(s) been in existence? More than 6 months? Or less than six. Both have same duration? And if less, how can “they” know how long it lasts — on average, with most people? …. 🤔 See where I’m going? To properly know the real answers to many of these questions, plus what the long-term effects will be – requires: TIME. Lotsa questions and a whole lotta hmmmmm.

For my jobs, I require evidence of HepB immunity thru titers, and flu vax was required as a nursing and NP student and I think also with employment with the VA.

      2. Katey, I am SO happy for you. It is my prayer that the Joliet Diocese in Illinois will do the same under our new Bishop Hicks. I was behind a day on praying the Rosary and vowed to pray all 20 decades. I shut down my devices and went for a drive on this oddly balmy late December afternoon. I love to pray the Rosary to an audio version in the car. It keeps me alert and focused. So I decided while driving to offer each of the four Mysteries of the Rosary for a favorite neighboring church and it’s clergy along the route. In the parking lot of each parish and Jesus in the tabernacle behind stone walls, I ended each decade with a Prayer of Miraculous Trust for our restoration calling on the parishes patron saints for intercession. As it were along the route, I visited, St. Joseph, St. Mary Immaculate, and St. Jude parishes and of course I being whimsical. other might say fanatical, made it complete by going to our Diocese Cathedral of Saint Raymond Nonnatus. On the last leg of the trip driving back home, I thought well isn’t that sweet, my Christmas mercy mission tour took me to namesake churches of the Holy Family and a saint of lost causes as I am pleading for the Mass and Sacraments to be made available without restriction here. Then, I pondered, I needed to learn about St. Raymond who until today I did not know much about. Turns out that St. Raymond is the patron saint of childbirth, midwives, children, pregnant women, and priests defending the confidentiality of confession. WOW – the Nativity, birthing pain of the Church, defending the Sacraments, Culture of Life! Chills. In addition to that it is 50 degrees in Northern Illinois and I have African Daisies, Sweet Alyssums, and some feathery ferns fresh cut from our garden on my kitchen window sill at the end of the year! This is unheard of. Praise God for the subtle and sweet signs of His great love always. ❤

    6. Wow, Patrick of SD …

You just met up with a random Catholic family of ranchers, “shot a pistol, chased dozens of male pheasants with a Ford pickup, dodged cattle on 2000 acres of ranch land, drank “some” 😉 bourbon, played Christmas carols on an out-of-tune piano, and trapped a huge beaver who was destroying trees on their property.” ??? 🙂 🙂 🙂

What an awesome adventure … That sounds like so much FUN and so cool !!!

Yeah, I really do want to move to South Dakota!

I still have a beaver pelt along with a pouch made from otter and white deerskin and moccasins of elk leather from when I volunteered as a historical re-enactor representing a Native American during the French fur trade era.

Bourbon’s not my cup of tea though (not even the best Kentucky bourbon), would rather go for a glass or two of sangria instead.

      Anyways, Merry Christmas!

      1. 🦫 The family patriarch used to trap in the 1950’s and apparently made quite a living back then. Minx, fox, coyote. He said Russians bought a lot of his pelts. The beaver we caught would not have been worth the trouble tanning. The damage they do is staggering. Trees are rare on the plains of South Dakota, take decades to grow, but look at what just a few beavers have done in a very short period of time:

A HUGE study in Wuhan, China of 10, 000,000 people has shown those who have tested positive a second time after recovery, of which 63% of these have a second active infection, are asymptomatic (no outward symptoms and no-low viral shedding). The study also includes evidence from this huge source that there is NO asymptomatic spread do to the low viral shedding from immunity. The study showed these asymptomatic persons did not infect any persons in their contact group but they themselves became reinfected by contact in a more highly infectious prone area they visited ( like a commercial setting) where contact tracing proved the source.

  17. There is a petition to President Trump to sign with John or Jane Doe to show we are behind him 100% to stop the steal and avoid the left hate and harassment at this time. Here is part of it:

President Trump, we, the people, will not allow your votes to be stolen, cancelling ours. You are the duly elected President for 2021-2024. Fraud, stealing, corruption, are very well-organized crimes. These crimes are not only about trying to take an election for Biden illicitly. There is something more sinister. It is blatant sedition; a high crime of treason to take over the United States of America. If this false win of Biden’s is not defeated, the United States of America will fall and with it the whole world will fall to a cabal of a one-world anti-God government.
These enemies of yours, President Trump, are the enemies of us, “We, the People.” Already voices are on record stating, you are to be arrested when you walk out of the White House. a If you are not jailed, they fear you will rally up your base and stop the overthrow. We cannot wait and give your enemies the opportunity to put you in jail.b You are our voice, which means they will arrest us also. The fact that they revert to this, shows great fear of you, that you, Mr. President, are the only one who can organize “We the People”.
With this statement, we the people call for you, as our duly elected President, to have a “well-organized” contingency plan to call up a militia to enforce your rightful infallible election win, as the true President for 2021-2024.

Do Mcconnell and Thune really want Biden and his ugly band of misfit toys to take over our country? What is up with these crooked or cowardly republicans? After so many people have come forward and put their lives and livelihoods on the line to prove massive voter fraud? We just sweep it all under the rug and get ready for the Great Reset? Oh Lord, we need a miracle down here. We sure would like to see President Trump as your servant in the white house for another four years. Thanks for listening Lord….we know you’ll do what’s best.

Here is another link for travel considerations from on online friend, Michael. He lost his dear wife, an ER nurse recently, leaving behind an adult son and young daughter who were threatened with an arrest for watching her burial at the cemetery from their parked vehicle. They were not even able to be with her at the hospital. Micheal was told on the phone by one of the medical team that she was doing better and not much later the same day, she died. Truly a heartbreaking story, in which he hinted that he learned that foul play was a factor because of their public activism. Please offer a quick prayer for them. ❤

“A motive behind the Nashville bombing that the media won’t tell you about…

AT&T got a contract to do forensic audit on Dominion voting machines and those machines were being moved to Nashville this past week.
The former owner of the AT&T building in Nashville, William Kennard, is a board member for Cerberus Capital Management and AT&T…. He also was Bill Clinton’s FCC chair, and Obama’s Ambassador to the EU.
Dominion voting is owned by Cerberus Capital Management…. Cerberus is run by Staple Street Execs. Joe Biden’s Brother in Law, Steven Owens, is the cofounder of Staple Street Execs along with William Kennard (mentioned above).
Super Computer in TN was connected to the AT&T internet in NASHVILLE…. yesterday evening the Cumberland river cooling system was compromised due to internet outage and Supercomputer fried…..
If you don’t know, “Kraken” is a reference to a supercomputer former prosecutor, Sidney Powell, has been talking about.
So, the explosion “just happened” to be at the AT&T location where they “just so happen” to control the cooling system for the super computer and house the dominion voting machines and drives for forensic audit…
Does it make sense now why no lives were lost? Does it make sense now why the FBI task lead couldn’t even put together a coherent sentence in the press conference yesterday? Does it make sense why the mayor was making light of the situation, almost laughing yesterday? 🤯🤯”

My husband and I have been to both Trump rallies in November and December and are going on the 6th. I went as a chaperone for my daughters 8th grade trip to DC in 2019 and it rekindled my love for our country and for those who sacrificed so much for it and for our freedoms. My Dad fought in WWII and my son is currently in the Navy. I have also been to many Marches for Life. My heart tells me that being in DC on the 6th is so important and the least I can do for a President that has done so much us. I pray that all who can go, Go!

    HeartLight Daily Verse 28 – December .. Matthew 11:28
[Jesus said,] “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

    Thoughts on today’s verse:
At the end of the year, it sure is nice to be invited to rest in Jesus. So before we begin a new year, let’s pause and place our hopes, our future, our dreams, and especially our burdens down at his feet and let him give us rest.
Teach me, O God, to learn to rest in your grace and providence more and to worry less. I want to surrender my burdens to Jesus and let him teach me his way and how to find his rest. Sometimes I am so tired and weary I don’t think I can continue, so please, dear Father, let me find rest in Jesus. Through whom I offer this prayer. Amen.

      1. I have some symptoms which began before Christmas. I have no fever and I can smell things. But I have had headaches, nausea, sinus congestion, fatigue, chills. On Sunday I felt great and entirely well. I was so happy about this and had a very busy day catching up. On Monday the symptoms came back. If this keeps up, I will get tested. I am not real worried, but wonder if this could be Covid-19. It seems to be mild, if I do have it, but I also understand that symptoms come and go and one can get a fever at any time. I am also taking the supplements suggested by Steve. Oh, well, I will see what the new few days bring.

        2. StJudithWTB, it sounds as if what you are doing is working to keep things in check, but you want to get to a good state, as you were on that Monday. The longer any illness has you going up and down, the more the risk it will wear your system down. Tests are unreliable. In your circumstances, a test may not be useful. I would rest, review my paper and see if there is anything else you can do to kick things over.

I would suggest you take a look at the Niacin idea on Page 8 of my Covid paper. Start small and go up until you get a flush, repeat until the flush becomes a little weaker, then go up again to the next strength, until you’re at 1 gram nicotinic acid twice a day. I’m not convinced yet of this therapy, but it does have some theory behind it, and it is non-toxic. If it works for you and you can stand the flush, you should find yourself feeling much better as you get toward the 1 gram twice a day rate.

It seems to be able to kick the system over into healing, helping not only those who are sick but also the Covid “long-haulers” who can have recovery time extending for many months. Just be sure to get Nicotinic acid, NOT the No-Flush kind of niacin. You want the flush. Start low at 50 mg or 100 mg and move up as quickly as you can stand it. If you are taking N-acetyl-cysteine, you should cut back on it to one or no capsule of NAC a day as you approach the full dose of the niacin. Once you’ve kicked over to full healing for several days, you can drop the niacin dose down to a more comfortable level.

If this niacin idea works for you, please email me at and fill me in on your experience, so I can gather data about whether this works or not. If it does, it could be a game-changer. If it doesn’t, I can drop it.

  31. For those of you who appreciate the wisdom and insights of our friend, the erudite Desmond Birch, here’s his latest post on FB.

We surely do have a lot of wood to chop. That said, I’m excited to see a new Renaissance of beauty emerge, in the arts and in the entire culture.

    Thanks, Dez!

Brothers and Sisters, we are back to the series on the disastrous effects of bad philosophy on our world.

This piece has developed as a result of a recent ‘The Catholic Thing’ article, which was a commentary about a New York Times column written by the ‘Times’ art/culture critic. That critic recently attended a Tridentine Mass in Paris – and was struck by the beauty of the Church and the service. She described that experience in the ‘Times’. The author of the ‘Catholic Thing’ article lamented the disappearance of beauty in many venues – including liturgy – and seemed to think that the Tridentine Mass in and of itself might bring the whole world back to its senses.

I found it difficult to understand how the New York Times CULTURE CRITIC in Paris, Laura Cappelle, was unaware that the very definition of ART was formally changed primarily by mid-20th century philosophers. They did so by formally dropping “beauty” as a requisite part of the definition of art. Those 20th century philosophers’ deletion of beauty as a part of art – whether in sculpture, painting, architecture, music, literature , etc., – was accepted first by the ‘art world’, and, then was trickled down to the man in the street by our highly cultured media. [The book to come at the end of this series will be listing a broad chain of disastrous results of bad philosophy in our time. The virtual destruction of appreciation for true beauty in the majority of our culture will be prominently portrayed in that list.]

In the entire history of art [certainly in the Western world], the very central essence of art was formally defined and understood to be “beauty”. As a boy in the 1940’s, I had already been taught and understood common understanding that “beauty” was the very heart and soul of all art, no matter what the form, fom painting to poetry, etBy the 1940’s, the dropping of beauty from the philosophical definition of art had not yet filtered down from the art world ‘s ‘philosophy’ to the common man and woman on the street. Today, over half a century later, only a veritable handful of people know that the central cause of the UGLY components in our Western culture today – particularly in art – was, and is, a direct result of bad philosophy.

By the 1960’s during my University studies, I vividly recall an issue of a popular news magazine of the day (as I recall it was ‘Time Magazine’). Its cover portrayed a black and white photo of a beat up old toilet seat resting in a heap of refuse at a public garbage dump. Many equally ugly imitations followed and were passed off as art in the following years.

The magazine article proceeded to explain to the readers that art was no longer limited by the requirement that beauty be part of any true art. It described how ART now could include patently UGLY and base elements – with nothing essentially beautiful about it. I clearly remember how those alleged ‘art objects’ and that article completely revolted me. I thought it clearly insulted the intelligence of any reasonably rational reader.

Years later, I was asked to tutor a number of university students taking a philosophy course entitled ‘Philosophy of Art’. It had, as its primary course text, a book of some 700 pages of small print. Therein were included selections from the writings of 13 philosophers throughout human history on the subject of art.

I’ll name a few just to give an indication of the scope and flavor of the book; Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus, Augustine, Kant, Nietzsche, ending with Heidegger. That book was first published in 1964. POINT: The cultural aberrations of today rejecting beauty are nothing new. They are products of the latter general directions of philosophy since Renes Descartes’ ‘dualism’ in the 17th century. The promotions of the grotesque and ugly in art first clearly came to light in the 1930’s and 1940’s – and were directly related to modern philosophy’s rejection of questioning of the existence of absolute truth.

You can imagine the déjà vu moment I experienced when we came to the phrasing in that class’ textbook which pointed out that, now, modern man had removed the last obstacle to a true understanding of art. I.e, in 1964, beauty had long since been done away with as integral to true art. The major thesis was that while beauty could be part of some art, beauty no longer limited art’s scope. All that was required for something to be considered as ‘true art’ was that “some established artist” declared something to be art – no matter how trashy or idiotic the ‘work’ he or she called ‘art’ might be.

As a result, today man commonly finds himself surrounded by the ugly, and is, at this point, starved for the beautiful. The greatest problem is that, today, most do not understand they are so starved. It’s true in music, architecture, painting, poetry, literature in general, etc.

In Catholic liturgy, warmed over, old Protestant hymns with hazy to bad theology are a key component of the problem. So is modern, syrupy-sweet, purely emotional, sentimental trash passed off as liturgical music.

Regardless of the particular liturgy of the Eucharist being celebrated, in many of the churches erected over the last fifty years or more, I must also keep my eyes fixed on the altar and celebrant in order to keep the influence of the surrounding ‘ugly’ from interfering with my concentration on participating in the greatest prayer, the Mass.

What the New York Times’ culture critic doesn’t appear to recognize is that while some of the young are still attracted to the beautiful, a much greater number are not so attracted and could care less. They have been counter conditioned by bad philosophy, either taught in the classroom or just learned from the trashy or lack of true culture around them. They have been conditioned/programmed to appreciate the grotesque and the ugly much more than beauty. That is an unfortunate fact of our Western world today.

We are going to have to take on and vanquish bad philosophy (and the depraved culture it has generated around us) to attract more than the few who still desire beauty over the shockingly grotesque and ugly. That, I’ve learned over the last half century.

Why is this so important? Well, let us assume for the moment that I’m attending a Tridentine Mass described by the New York Times culture critic. When the priest begins the, “ORATRE FRATRES”, and the priest says, “Brethren, pray that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God the Father almighty,” – as the nuns and priests taught us so well in the 1940’s – our minds and hearts are to be centered and rooted in the great prayer of the Mass. God provides us, at Mass, with the sacrifice, His own Son. But he asks of us an interior sacrifice so that we can worship Him completely. When we pray the Mass properly, as the sacrifice of the ‘body and blood, soul and divinity’ of His only begotten Son is offered to the Father, we properly offer up also our lives, comparatively minuscule as they are, to God the Father.

It’s much more difficult to do that if and when you are surrounded by truly ugly architecture and decor, with sentimental, syrupy melodies as part of the liturgy/service. It is going to take a great deal more than just offering Tridentine or any other Eucharistic liturgies to cure what ails our culture in the West. If the people are not strongly encouraged to, once again, seek the beautiful rather than the ugly, a very small percentage only, in my experience, will actually choose the beautiful over the ugly. Why? They have been systematically pre-programmed to reject beauty for over half a century now.

In the Infant Church which peacefully conquered the ‘pagan’ element in the Roman Empire, simply introducing converts to ‘liturgical beauty’ did not lead them to God as well as keep them in His fold. The Church’s bishops quickly recognized that converts had to be catechized on a broad range of subjects, prominently including the philosophical defense of Christian belief, which included the philosophical concept that all ‘beauty’ is a reflection and reminder of God. [AUGUSTINE is likely the greatest example in the Infant Church of utilizing philosophy to both present, and to defend, the Mysteries of Faith.]

POINT: Sound liturgies of the Eucharist were an absolutely essential part of bringing converts into the infant Church. But as heresies and schisms rapidly developed, the Church discovered that good liturgy alone was insufficient either to keep them in the Church or remain faithful to the apostolic tradition on Christian belief.

We too are going to have to catechize entire generations once again – utilizing sound philosophy as a tool to pursue all truth in God and his creation.

    All my love in Christ

    1. I know an art teacher who acquired for her school a huge, ugly heavy metallic thing which looked like it was supposed to be some type of heavy machinery (without the machine parts that made it work). It was supposed to be worth a lot of money, but the school received it gratis. I argued that something so ugly could not possibly be art. Of course, I was shot down immediately. These days I think that even pornography is considered art in some circles. I am often shocked by the so-called art of the modern day.

So glad you shared. I am so sick and tired of our ugly, filthy, pagan culture!!

TV shows, music, books, fashion, etc. I avoid most of it most of the time. My poor child is exposed to it ….

    3. Dez, I have often thought, when exposed to “art” of toilet seats in trash, that it is (instead? also?) what I would call “cause philosophy” or “cause art” or even “cause pornography”. So much of what we see as examples of “art” right now are in fact being glorified as art in order to add weight to making a point in favor of a political cause. Maybe call it “artivism”.

I had a very fine tech friend who liked to read Aviation Week magazine, partly because of the cool pictures of high tech items like jets and so on. And they are cool. He called AvLeak “technoporn” because you could see these pictures of cool tech and you desire to have that tech but you can’t touch the actual desired object, only the picture. Just like Playboy magazine.

Just so with all this artivism – it’s “causeporn.” The concept of beauty has been hijacked and perverted so that people “desire” corrupted “art”work that is reduced to making political points the way we have been trained through systematic normalization to want so much else that has been corrupted or is by nature corrupt.

It always seems to come down to corruption, which seems to me to be the inevitable outcome of Evil. “Causeporn” and “Artivism” make us willing to accept more evil by covering the corruption with a fig leaf of it being Art, allowing a kind of virtue signaling to make evil acceptable or even desirable.
