I am very sick. I do not believe it is to death, but I am very sick.

Everything is off. Perception is skewed, expectation is uncertain, analysis is almost impossible because almost nothing makes any sense at all anymore.

I am not sure what will heal me. I am better than I was two days ago, but it is a marginal thing. To go to the washroom, I have to make a plan, gather up my strength, do it, disengage, get back to bed, then hyperventilate for 10 or fifteen minutes to recover. To those who don’t know this kind of sick, it sounds like some ridiculous exaggeration. To those who understand the understatement behind it, you have both my rheumy solace and my respect for your painfully earned wisdom.

I talk to friends who call – or I don’t, depending on how I feel in the moment. It’s nice. It’s nice that if I have to tell them I have to quit talking, they know I literally mean it and let me go.

It’s nice to know with what genuine fondness many you hold dear hold you. The thousands of prayers going up for me daily constitute a great treasury I gladly ask the Lord to direct as needed and as He will. I haven’t felt this much the spiritual philanthropist since my pilgrimage days.

Now we know that a simple nod from God is sufficient to blow any disease completely away. He has chosen to let this one play its course through me – and draw forth a large bank of prayers through it. My theory is that something huge is brewing, something unanticipated by me or anyone else. That is consonant with God: Among other things He is the consummate showman – the original Drama King, you might say. And He loves to surprise and delight even His favorites with things they never could have even imagined, much less have the wit to want.

My prayers feel absolutely impotent these last few days. Yeah, I know we say that – and it is good – for a prayer should be offered out of love and then left to the Lord to deploy in strength and effect. Yet truth, I can sometimes, even often hear the mountain shift before my prayer is finished. This week, no mustard seed has nothing to worry from me. So, this is entirely God’s project, and He busies Himself about it with the glee of a proud father about to don the Santa suit to top everything off.

So I ask you, today and tomorrow, do what I have come to believe is the most powerful form of invocatory prayer on my behalf. Light a candle for me. You can do it from home. You can do it at your local Church. You can do it from your favorite shrine. You go before a bank of candles, say your prayer, light the candle, spiritually and mentally attach the prayer to it, put it in the hole before the angel or saint who will carry it, then pray that so long as the candle is lit, it continuously carries the prayer before it to the seat of God. It is time for God to make all things new and to renew the faith of the world. The face of the world is ugly and mutilated, celebrating what is false and artificial, what offends God and defenestrates man, what brings bareness and cold rather than life and light.

Now begins the renewal. Light a candle for me. I accept what is needed and delight in giving Christ the rest for this great project. It is just, not arrogant for me to benefit from the prayers that build this bank of renewal. My feet have borne the burden all my life, even as no one else knew there was a burden to be borne. Our Lord has sometimes affectionately called me the little boy who is willing, for that is what I have been – when it has been against every temporal interest I have, I am willing. When I have been believed to be a delusional fool (including privately, by myself), I am willing. When it hurts so hard my feet bleed and I can’t catch any breath, I am willing. I may be a fool, but I am the archetype of the true believer: I love the Lord with all my heart, will, and soul – and I love His people and want us all to banquet joyfully together in heaven. The joy of this vision is worth a world of suffering…and I have willingly done much of that in the Lord’s service. Truthfully, I haven’t suffered much these last few decades. The meetings and visits are more like a foreshadowing of the joy of the fellowship of the family of God. So now I get an invitation to a little late-in-the game votive suffering. Don’t want to miss that honor, for whenever God wraps a package that gruesomely, He’s got a doozy of a present inside.

So join me. Go forth and light a candle for me. What we are doing, I believe, is boldly proclaiming the Kingdom of Christ here on earth – that they may keep peddling their cheap kingdom of lives, but it has no power over us anymore and we are sent to proclaim it need have no power over anyone anymore. The Lord is sending us out to proclaim His great day: Good news for the poor, to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives, release from darkness for the prisoners and the restoration of sight for all those who have been spiritually blinded, lo, these 30 years.

I am told to be cautious because in my infirmity, I am given to going in and out of delirious states. But this is what I believe; that the hour of darkness is now in decline for them – their hour of power is over. They will decrease as Christ increases. That this year with the Feast to the Immaculate Conception will begin the year of Our Lord’s favor over all who call to Him through our Lady and a time of vengeance of the Lord on all who oppress these little ones in faith, including any who oppress from the pulpit or mitre.

I could be jumping the gun on a fantasy of faith. If so, it wouldn’t be the first or probably the last time I’ll ever do it – and when will I have a better excuse than organically going into and out of fugue states of delirium? I can live with that. But what if I’m getting in on the ground floor of one of the greatest miracles of salvation history, the renewal of the faith and the face of the world; the driving out of the smoke of satan from the Church by the renewal already beginning in the hierarchy; the anti-Gospel being driven to heel by the fresh power of the Gospel truly proclaimed, truly believed, truly lived? After a glorious year of this, war breaks out briefly and the satan and his minions, and all who continue to count on his and man’s guidance will perish and be whisked away like so much dross.

Ah, I’m going to make like St. Padre Pio and pray, hope and don’t worry.

Light a candle for me – and watch the world take off.

Expect the miracle. live the miracle, pass it on, be the miracle, pray, hope, don’t worry.

  1. He’s as sick as a dog, with an illness that causes periodic bouts of delirium… and he can STILL write a piece containing the word “defenestrates.” That’s our Charlie.! 🙂

    2. I will light a candle when I go to mass tomorrow morning… I think you have Covid, my friend.. we have had it in most of my family, and you have the same Symptoms. Lots of hydration and make sure you take baby aspirin. And if you can get the monoclonal antibody IV it’s really makes a difference. May God keep you and protect you amen

    1. Meanwhile, Charlie’s sickness is rapidly emptying Purgatory! Has anyone counted the multitude of Rosaries being said for Charlie? I’m sure most of us are saying the Flame of Love Rosary, and it is November. 53 Hail Maries per Rosary = 530 out of Purgatory per Rosary times several by each of us, times how many of us! Way to go, Charlie!

    May Our Blessed Mother Mary’s mantle cover you as you suffer, to provide comfort as only a mother can give. Lord knows the suffering she has and still endures for her children. 🙏🏻

So I will light one, on this day after the feast day of one of my favorite saints. A saint of the Americas and saint who had a great healing ministry. St. Martin de Porres, pray for us.

    I received this in an email from Cardinal Burke. As I read it, I remembered when Charlie posted about the time of the Rescue. He wrote, “…A multitude of people and saints were coming…In the vanguard, leading them, was Our Lady, suffused with joy and triumph. The chorus rose steadily and relentlessly, until the people and angels were singing it with triumphant joy…I get very misty remembering that glorious, triumphant chorus…I hope that gorgeous chorus is really sung and fills the earth at the Triumph. I am almost certain it will…and I eagerly await hearing the melody that goes with it–hopefully sung gloriously by Our Lady, herself. You cannot imagine what a consolation this has been for me over the years.” (And for me. Lit candles remind me of the beacons lit to call for help in The Return of the King)

  14. Perfect definition of this beastly disease! I too believed that this is a gift from God when I was going through it. Although I sometimes thought it would kill me. I know He is using all the prayers to work his will. Mick I was thinking the same thing😂 only our dear Charlie. Heal well and soon Squirrel General!🦠🧨

  15. Charlie, your description reminds me of what it feels like to have a severe case of COVID. Is someone helping you identify whether you need to implement the protocols? I sure hope so.

    1. Absolutely, Marie B., someone is on board as primary caretaker. With nurse’s hat firmly secured, that one is tending to protocols ( via a synergy among homeopathy, prescribed meds and supplements) hanging out, mindful to balance accompaniment with giving of space. and most willing to do a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. required or requested… all the while, m.a.n.y. someones – God bless them one and all – have huddled with their expertise and exerted the best kind of boldness to problem-solve in order to meet Charlie’s needs that arise. Beautifully, Charlie’s care is a living icon of CORAC at its best.

    2. Marie, I’m not sure how you missed it. I have known I have Covid for a week. I have a medical team, the protocols have been being implemented since almost a week ago and are being regularly monitored and adjusted. We have been perfectly overt about that, so I really am not sure how you missed it.

            After having been crash course trained by Jacquie and HTTP in caring for Charlie with homeopathy, I would love to listen in on your class tomorrow. However, with CJ’s needs at hand, I cannot. Is there someone who would know how to record as you Zoom tomorrow… and then send me a copy? It’s OK if it seems too much, but then again, as long as someone knows how to do it and could do so sort of quietly, in an unobtrusive way, I’d love to listen/watch later.

Not sure if we live near each other, I’m 30 miles north of New ORleans. You have my grandmother’s first name and initial of her maiden name.         2. I also missed it, but guessed something might be wrong b/c of the presentation scheduled and hearing no news about it. I had a feeling to step-up prayers and did shoot them up as the feeling came. Also things in me own life are good but verysome cray-cray, ah.

  17. Charlie: I pray for you every day and will do so with deeper intensity today and every day going forward. Some time back, when I was going through a particularly difficult time, an image of Mary came to me. In it she was wrapping me in her mantle, holding me tightly and consoling me like a mother would hold and console her child. May our blessed Mother hold you and console you.

Also, one of the top level people at YL reported to many of us on zoom a couple months ago that Valor, applied over the spleen (basically under the left breast) brings good relief to those with breathing and lung issues during the ‘rona. Apply it two, three or four drops at a time as you feel you need it.

  23. A spiritual candle is lit for you, Charlie. I’m sad you are in this state, but I will confess something. When I saw your first few words, I wondered immediately if this was something the Lord has asked you to take on. I absolutely agree with your words that “something huge is brewing…”. That feeling has been with me for a while, reading about the “year of St. Joseph” ending on 7 December, Mama’s feast day the next day, and then a few days ago Father Heilman’s email that said “Urgent. Pray for the USA!”

    As Father said, we just finished a 54 day novena, but he feels a “strong calling” to be in “intense prayer” and do another novena, “facing a watershed moment”. In spite of all the alarming events, there is such a mixed feeling for me of dread, and at the same time, wanting to get on with whatever way the Lord is going to rescue us eventually.

    We will all be praying, Charlie; we’re hurting with you that you’re going through this hardship. We love you!

  26. Gosh Charlie, I’m so sorry that you are so ill but know that your suffering will be efficacious in a glorious way! I lit a candle for you and placed it right next to the Holy Face of Jesus –which as you know is a copy of the burial cloth that was on Jesus’ face–the moment of His resurrection is imprinted on the cloth. His 1st glorious breath cast for eternity! May Our Lord’s glorious breath assist and heal you. Prayers and love dear brother.

  27. I just re-read something about the recently completed novena to St. Jude. We must publicly thank St. Jude and it can be done on “social media”. I prayed very hard for a couple of extremely serious intentions, because I know St. Jude delivers! This is my public thank you to him though I do not know the outcomes of my intentions.

  28. Perhaps this mandate has inadvertently generated a ton of good people to contemplate and sign
    a religious exemption who otherwise perhaps to this point were unaware or never seriously contemplated that a little life was excruciatingly terminated in the course of this “vaccine” experiment. Interesting that the thrust of the legal battles are focusing on this conscience exemption, not on the obvious affront to basic freedom. You were remembered in a special way at today’s Mass and before leaving church a 7-day candle was placed in front of Our Lady of Fatima with prayers for you and your intentions. May you be blessed on this feast of your patron saint. When other bishops and priests ran for their life during the plague, it was the saintly bishop Charles Borromeo who came forth bringing the sacraments to the sick and dying. May his prayers enlighten our church leaders and invigorate all of us to be not afraid.

  29. Lit a candle at home and then headed to the city Cathedral to pray before and at Mass for you. After Mass, I remembered the beautiful statue of the Pieta near the doors, right near the statue of St. Maria Goretti and St. Francis. I had just enough money to light a candle (to the penny). The candle was definitely meant for you! Continued prayers to release Poor Souls in your name.

  40. Lighting a candle now Charlie and placing it in front of our Pilgrim Virgin Mary statue. I thought I would have St. Anne carry my prayers to Our Blessed Mother to give to Jesus.

    Charlie, you are an inspiration and a true Christian example to us all and I am sure you have united your sufferings to Christ. As you know, out of love and concern for you, countless of us are offering up thousands of prayers for you, which you have generously asked Our Lord to use these prayers where he needs them and not so much for you.

    You mentioned the feast of the Immaculate Conception. Tomorrow is the start date for my yearly renewal consecration to Mary. I started in the late 70’s using the St. Louis Marie de Monfort Consecration method. The 33 days of prayers and preparation end on December 8, the feast of the Immaculate Conception. I think it will be in some way a very special consecration day this year.

  42. Many prayers went up for you last night at Adoration, Charlie! I prayed for you as I knelt in front of the relic of the Holy Cross, and I lit the largest, brand new candle for you, too, praying for the healing of God’s willing little boy to Blessed St. Joseph himself holding the baby Jesus, begging that he will carry that prayer as long as the candle burns. It should burn for more than a week, Charlie! Prayers will continue as you heal. May God’s blessings continue to flow!

  46. I offer the following powerful prayer to St. Joseph for his intercession during these few remaining days in this year of his favor (said to be over 1900 years old):
    “O St. Joseph whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the Throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires.   47. I know of several people who are not feeling well this week with odd symptoms. In fact, I am home myself today with some concerns. Yes, there may be something exceptional and unexpected afoot.

    1. By way, I added my beloved grandson’s photo for my profile photo. I am told by an approved mystic of the Catholic Church that Gabriel is a great and powerful saint and, also, a real cut up in the heavenly realm. He was always so happy and full of love. I am asking him to intercede for Charlie. With such an angelic, enchanting face and loving, joyful and innocent heart, how could Our Savior not fully hear him?

        1. I thought the same thing, Beckita and Judith, an angelic face. Mother Mary told Father Gobbi to ask the Archangels for their powerful help, and each has a different “talent”. Gabriel’s is strength, which I ask for every day. 🙂
