First Tragedy, Then Farce

By Charlie Johnston

One of the few things that Karl Marx ever got right was when he said that, “history repeats itself, first as tragedy and then as farce.” As dumb as I know they are, I think I may have over-estimated the cultural revolutionaries – in Washington and in the world.

At less than two weeks in, Joe Biden’s administration already has a rickety, square-wheeled clown car feel to it. So far, he has spent his time killing jobs in oil and gas, making America energy dependent once more as he kills jobs and raises gas and heating prices; killing off women’s sports by forbidding any school to reserve them for actual biological women – and making it a federal crime to forbid boys to use girls’ washrooms and locker rooms. Meantime, he issues executive orders to empower hostile regimes while denigrating allies. Not only will we have Americans paying for everybody’s abortions, but we are going to do it for the whole world. Meantime, as ordinary Americans struggle the spending balloon gets blown up even further. What could possibly go wrong?

Oh, they definitely want to cancel conservatives and Christians and outlaw actually practicing any orthodox version of Judeo-Christian faith, but there is a decidedly Monty Pythonesque feel to it all. It as if Biden were being played by Adam Sandler – and Hitler, Mao and Stalin by Larry, Moe and Curly, respectively. Biden sent Kamala Harris out to try to put the squeeze on West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin to force him to toe the line on their leftist agenda. Besides repeatedly calling “mine lands,” “land mines,” Harris so offended West Virginians and ticked off Manchin that they may well have made a committed enemy of him. I would say there has never been such a cackling mass of ambition as Harris – but memories of Hillary are too recent. It is as if a couple of Hollywood producers got together and decided to make, “Hillary, Part Deux,” and the big twist is that this time they will cast her as a woman of color.

For four years the left tried to overturn an election by mounting a series of conspiracy theories, none of which were true – and called it patriotism – and the Republican establishment indulged them with investigations of what the GOP already knew was poppycock. Now, rather than doing a vigorous and transparent investigation into the massive irregularities and plain illegalities in the 2020 election, the left insists that even asking the question makes one a “domestic terrorist” and a “white supremacist” – and now want to outlaw and punish half the country. They even speak of sending us and our children to re-education concentration camps. The fact is you cannot oppress half the country without the acquiescence of the oppressed. All you can do is cull the herd in an effort to intimidate the rest into acquiescence. Instead, every effort is red-pilling a greater percentage of the population. The GameStop market phenomenon showed how ordinary people are finding ways to fight back against the establishment – and how the establishment is putting a stop to that – AND how that is further enraging normal people, including some of those suburbanites that hated Donald Trump’s tweets. Though they do not yet realize it, the left is playing a giant game of ‘Whack-A-Mole’ and, with each mole they actually whack, creating ten more.

Even the tried and true weapons of the past are losing their power. As the left shrieks, ever more panicked, that any disagreement is a manifestation of “white supremacy,” people recognize the lie for what it is and just don’t care anymore. The incantation has lost its power. I even see it in some of the vitriolic messages I get. There is a puzzled desperation in them. You can almost smell the fear as they begin to suspect that they are not the superior vanguard of a new ruling class, but the pathetic pawns in the power game of a tiny elite class. About three years after Lenin’s takeover of Russia, the “vanguards” there realized the same thing. I know many of you are worried about the frenzied and more violent rhetoric of some of your old friends and family, but I stand by my advice to give them a simple, gentle and firm answer to your position if you respond at all. When angry advocates of a peculiar position get particularly frenzied, it is usually a sign of one of two things: either it is the last stage before their terminal descent into madness or the last defense before the blinders fall in a rush before a return to sanity. If it is the former, there is little you can do and if it is the latter, your strenuous arguments are only likely to delay their recovery.

The classical Greek saying, usually attributed to Euripides, that “…whom the gods would destroy they first make mad,” is very appropriate to this moment in history. The baseball Hall of Fame is no longer reserved for the most skillful players of the ages, but for skillful and marginal players who have the proper political beliefs. French police busted a giant orgy near Paris over the weekend. Participants were not charged with any sexual offenses or breach of public decency. They were charged with…wait for it…violating Covid restrictions. In big things and small things, the world has gone mad.

It is rare to see a coalition start tattering before at least three or four months go by. The new ascendant coalition of the pagan left is not a coherent intellectual agenda, but rather a rickety cobbling together of disparate interest groups. Even as the folks at the top indulge one part of their base, they enrage and alienate another part. It is not a stable formula. Say what you will about Lenin, Stalin, Hitler and Mao, they each had a form of malignant competence that escapes our modern cultural vandals.

Whether because of pathological incompetence or malignant intent, collapse has disastrous consequences for everyone involved. I am beginning to think that any secession this time will be less about escaping destructive oppression and more like a panic room – a safe haven as most of the country collapses. If it is the latter case, those souls who stay behind to care for the suffering and try to protect – and then rebuild – from the rubble, will be among the noblest souls of all.

This is not the big piece I have been working since the beginning of last week. We are in a very fluid situation. Some things are developing in ways I expected while others are manifesting in startlingly unexpected ways. I am wary and, for now, act as if I am in the rapids in a dangerous, unknown river. I seek to anticipate as little as possible and react as skillfully as possible. Former British Prime Minister Harold MacMillan was once asked by a reporter what would be the decisive factor in formulating his policies. “Events, dear boy, events,” MacMillan replied. Hear! Hear!

  1. Excellent, Charlie! Fantastic analysis and links. Kurt Schlichter’s piece is actually heartening to me. It IS so fluid, crazed and insane “out there.” Thank you for taking all the time you need to do well what you do SO well. We love you and are with you because we’re with God.

Here’s an extra paddle being tossed your way. PS It’s actually a prayer paddle as every good work flourishes on a bed rock of prayer and we’ve got your back.

          1. Thanks, Joanne. It’s been mentioned in several comments yesterday and today. I can’t help but think that Mike Lindell was not only trying to get the word out, but also encourage those of good will to speak truth. Praying for Mike’s protection and the protection of all those he interviewed in the documentary.

  2. Encouraging words Charlie. I have turned off the news so the first time I heard about the gamestop issue was on Relevant Radio – Fr. Matthew Spencer – of all places! Things always change, especially in politics. Love the rapids analogy. I have decided that I can’t do much about Washington, so I’m focusing on the right to life because I believe that abortion, and general disrespect for human life as separate and distinct from all other life, is the primary tumor from which the cancer in our society has metastasized. This weekend will be my first adventure in front of the largest late term abortion facility in the country. I love being counter-cultural! 🙂

        2. Thank you all for the prayers! I just returned from my first trip to PP. My intrepid coach Vanessa is a master! I actually enjoyed the hours I spent there. Only one middle finger and a lot of people showing support, thumbs up etc. I’m not sure how many abortions were performed as it appears most of the cars had single women or men (you need to have a driver if you’re getting the abortion) Interestingly most of the dialogue was with men – who were respectful and seemed open to the information. What I learned is that I have a LOT to learn. God is good!

    1. Your comment Madkat about abortion as “the primary tumor from which the cancer in our society has metastasized” reminds me of Mother Teresa’s words in her 1982 commencement address at Harvard. I’m sure you are familiar with her presentation on that day.

You are a prayer warrior to be out there on the front line at that “largest late term abortion facility in the country”.

    2. I find myself going in the same direction, Kat. I’ve done 40 days and PP vigils for years. But as of 2/01/21 our PP clinic started giving out the Abortion Pill, so yesterday after training online, I did my first sidewalk counselor stint.
I was terrified the night before but my hour went quickly and I got one young lady to stop her car and take my “we can help you” flyer.
Her reaction,”Oh Cool, thanks!” made it all worth it. Prayers requested for our group in Jackson MI. We will be manning all the hours M,W,Th 9to5.

      1. Wow, That is a LOT of hours. Do you use the HLA handouts “This is not your Only Choice?” I love it. I like their larger newspaper inserts, also. They truly speak to the girls and the fellows. Last week we had a baby save. She was wanting the abortion because -tada- she refused to let CPS back in her life! We counseled her to STOP doing weed, and NEVER tell any doctor or nurse she ever had. Just don’t bring it up. She is keeping her baby, and no more marijuana for her! And God bless you for stepping up to the plate and getting the sidewalk counseling training.

  3. Charlie I asked Jesus today, “Passion of Christ, strengthen Charlie!” And also, I asked Our Lady of Fatima to give to all of us here, those graces that are normally wasted, because no one asks for them!🥰

Everything is very strange these days!

“I am wary and, for now, act as if I am in the rapids in a dangerous, unknown river. I seek to anticipate as little as possible and react as skillfully as possible. “

And yet today is a beautiful day too for it is Desmond’s birthday 🥳 !!! Happy birthday dear fellow squirrel 🐿!!!🥰

Charlie stay safe on the roads!!! Terrible 1, 2, 3??? punches circulating the USA 🇺🇸! God speed dear Charlie!!! And like Beckita says…we ALL love you and pray for your safety daily!

  4. Two things:

    1) I don’t laugh out loud at something I read but this got me: “rickety square-wheeled clown car.” 🤣

    2) “It is as if a couple of Hollywood producers got together and decided to make, “Hillary, Part Deux,” and the big twist is that this time they will cast her as a woman of color.”
You may be closer to the truth than you think, Charlie.

I’ll just leave it at that.

Well… I don’t want to stay in NJ, but I don’t think I’m supposed to go. I mean, I could go… I’m free to, I just get a big no when I consider it.

And I’d rather stay and work with God’s provision, than leave and have to have him fix my mess.

    So, here I am.

  6. Always need your assurances and analysis, Charlie. I’m trying to take one step at a time, keep my prayer times as a priority, etc., but am starting to feel overwhelmed. Things are moving fast in our world, and also with my husband’s cancer diagnosis and care plan.

I have felt peace pretty much, but each step requires adjustment. Today it was the phone call and plan with the radiation oncologist with details spelled out. It gets a bit scary, although I trust what St. Joseph “told me” a while back. I also have a relic of Padre Pio under the sheets so that hubby, and we, sleep with Padre Pio’s healing power all night. How could we live without our Catholic faith and all our weapons?! God bless and help all of you too.

    1. Annie, I’m in different circumstances, but we share the same need for healing.

Your faith cheered me up as I, too, sleep with stuff under my pillow. I know you know it is not a silly superstition but rather a “Holy reminder” (as Mother Angelica would say) and a constant prayer. I put Our Lady Tears of Joy card and sometimes St. Michael relic stone on my heart. How much strength I have received from these prayers, TYG.

God bless you and yours, Annie! (and us, Everyone!)

The first night without him in the bed, I could not find my Rosary. I very decidedly told Our Lord that He already had taken my husband, He COULD NOT have my Rosary, too! I found my Rosary! So keep your treasures. They are real.

      1. DAILY REFLECTIONS WITH
        ARCHBISHOP FULTON SHEEN
        God works through the minority

The Holy Spirit always works through minorities, never through majorities. Remember when Moses had just left Egypt with his Israelites, and he sent two of his trusted men, Caleb and Joshua, into the land of Canaan He sent them with ten others – there were twelve spies in all – and he asked them to make inquiries about the army, the size of the cities, and so forth. They came back with a double report: a majority report and a minority report. The majority report of ten was, We cannot take the land. The men there are so tall we look like grasshoppers beside them. Caleb and Joshua then spoke and said, No, God said that we could take it. And the multitude, the church, turned on Caleb and Joshua and would have killed them had Moses not interceded. The majority was wrong the minority with God can do anything.

      2. Today, I consecrated myself again to Saint Joseph on this First Wednesday. I have gotten into the habit of requesting a Plenary Indulgence (P.I.) for myself on a Wednesday in Saint Jospeh’s honor. {other days for Souls in Purgstory}

A few months ago, i requested a P.I. once a month on the First Wednesday. As events progressed, I upped it to weekly. Now, I feel called bi-weekly… Saturday in Honor of the Blessed Mother.

In this year of Saint Joseph, pray the Litany of Saint Joseph. It is an easy, quick means of obtaining a Plenary aindulgence.

    2. Littlelight: I had just completed the Consecration to Mary (St. Louis de Montfort) yesterday when I saw what you posted about Fr. Calloway’s book. I have loved St. Joseph for years, as a superb model for men in these deranged times, and I was familiar with his Litany as it’s recited after (streamed) Wednesday morning Mass from the ICKSP church in Limerick, but I hadn’t really thought seriously about doing the consecration to him.

So… having read what you said, I got the book (Kindle version – I use the Kindle a lot & don’t really mind it). And yes, it is wonderful. There is so much in it and, as an added bonus, some very fine artwork which Fr. C. has had commissioned for the book, proving that the tradition of fine classical art is not dead. I am really looking forward to beginning the consecration on Feb. 15th. Thank you for this very timely reminder. J.

  10. Reminds of the bone rattling vertical, velocity and initial shock experienced decades ago on a double black diamond run up B’s way at Red Lodge. A little nightmare called “Sluice Box,” accessed via the “Hellroaring Traverse.” Yeah, that name should have tipped us off, but I followed my buds anyway (and they didn’t have the slightest idea where it lead). Turns out it lead through extremely narrow and steep pine, mogul-ridden and icy as all get out. Barely had time to consider that there was no room to maneuver, much less stop… only a brief stretch early on where we had to overcome the shock to avoid a face plant in a tree at a rate of speed best described as plummeting.

Well, we somehow managed to emerge on the bottom part of “True Grit,” safe and sound, but terribly shaky on the legs. Can’t remember the reason, but I engineered a little faux wipeout there for effect on in celebration, at which point I actually managed to tweak my leg, and had to ski gimpy the remainder of the outing.

Folks, I think this shocking part at the beginning will be the most trying. We’ll get through. Just don’t celebrate too early.

I’d like to say I was grinning, but that’s a grimace… plus I had lost my cowboy hat up trail somewhere. Know what I did? Went back to retrieve it on the next run. A little more prepared, and a whole lot less shocked and surprised. Gimpy knee and all.

        1. Oh MP! I didn’t realize you were talking about a skiing escapade. I was skiing in the Austrian Alps in a spot that I was warned not to attempt as a new skier- and I was in rented skis. My ski tip went into an icy spot in a cut out trail and my ski stopped abruptly but I didn’t. I went forward and my bindings didn’t release so ended up with a boot top break. I was in a cast 9 months. An Austrian doc put on a thin temporary cast til I got to an Army hospital. The tech there drugged me up and went about cutting off the thin cast– he didn’t know how thin it was and cut me the length of both sides of my legs– what a mess! Plus, we lived on the 4th floor of a German apartment with no elevators. Amazing what you can withstand when you’re a kid! 🤪

          1. Funny how God teaches us how to take a fall early on when our cognitive, emotional and social development is spiking. A good parent shows the toddler how to stand, makes sure there are no sharp edges or objects laying about, then lets the child have it on wobbly legs. Oh, the simplicity and purity of those lessons. Do we remember? Fall down. Get right back up. What’s the difference now when we take a ‘fall’ or get knocked down? More of our heavy humanity. Lingering in self-pity. Pride.

I almost bit it in the shower a couple of times lately and thought, oh, that’s probably coming at some point. We can do this. Already learned the lesson and we’ve been here many a time. Besides, we’re beyond learning how to stand up. At this point, our spirits need to learn how to soar.

              1. Sharing, thinking out loud and swapping real life lessons learned… whatever we’re doing can be a dicey business. Just ask St. Paul, or a whole bunch of other diverse Saints you can think of. For that matter, living is a dicey business. Despite their missteps and weaknesses, they gave themselves over to pleasing God.

Look at St. Joan of Arc. She didn’t become a Saint because of her alleged mystical experiences and/or storming the keep. She became a Saint because she really wanted to please God above all things, gave herself wholly over to the tasks she felt would get that job done, with the tools she had, took the lead, and… got it done!

Maybe you do need to think less of yourself and more of others. Heck, that’s good advice for all, but I think that ol’ devil is so crafty sometimes we mistake his insinuations and our own more or less flawed self-talk for God’s counsel. For all you know, He’s smiling big at you right now for the stuff you are doing right.

MP!!! I watched the New Fatima movie again yesterday and I pray everyone here has a copy of it and watches it at least once!!! It’s just such a beautiful re-done movie 🎥 and I believe it helps us to see how much Our Blessed Mother loves us all, how much St Francesco, St Jacinta and Sr Lucia went through for all of us to spread the Fatima message!!!

One more thing about the Fatima movie, You get to see the miracle of the sun in the end and with all this darkness going on, and the ongoing fulfillment of Fatima, I grasped in the movie that it is good to remember that God is the God of miracles!!! I wonder what we might see as things proceed!

I personally am praying for a WORLD WIDE conversion aka metanoia ❤️❤️❤️ Wouldn’t it be sort of heaven on earth to see everyone love and worship God once again!

Thanks for the kind words MP!!! I’m sure God is smiling down at you right now!!! Btw..did ur parish get back to adoration yet? Ours did but not at full 24/5 hours yet. The elderly (I’m one of them lol) are the majority but some were a little too worried yet to come back.

Well, the whole world (or at least the parts that should know better) could do with a few more back-pats or high-fives and a whole lot less indiscriminately dropping bombs of woe. You should see my feeds (excepting certain nuggets)! They’re rife with bomb dropping and little in the way of encouragement and practical solutions. Shoot, dodging friendly fire is getting to be more challenging than fighting the real enemy.

God, of course, is the answer. Adoration has been back for quite some time, though exposition of the Holy Eucharist was replaced with a famous icon of Jesus. I miss adoring the Holy Eucharist (Who Is there nonetheless). He looks angry, or at terribly serious in the icon… but who can blame Him?

Sad to hear Jesus is not exposed!😢. Actually ours IS exposed and we are in a private little adoration room so it still really does surprise me that so many people (mostly elderly) still chance it. One adorer actually did get ill with covid! He just recently came off intubation thanks be to God! His name is John Schumm. Mid 70’s I believe!!!

He’s very special to me! Back in 1979 – 1981 (gosh that sounds like a millennium ago!!!😂) John was my French teacher back in good ole Sandusky High School!!! Ha!! I could tell Mr Schumm was holy even as a kid!!! So patient, so kind! Never married, took care of his mom. Started first Saturday devotions at St Paul’s always leading the rosary 📿 first at 7:30 am! Thought of him today as it’s first Saturday! They just took the feeding tube out and He’s now doing therapy in the big room so he’s coming along. Any prayers from you or anyone who happens to read this would be much appreciated!

Thanks MP!!! Always nice doing business with you!!! 🤠

Don’t know that I’d recommend the imported corn nuts and fancy mustard to anyone, but the chocolate turtles and salted pork were particularly good.

Since this was spontaneous, we stayed in the background and I was parked diagonally. Chia stood up on my lap and starred right at Jesus the entire time. It was a sight to behold. ❤

            2. I recall a mid ’80’s ski story… us kids were on a HS Ski trip to Killington, VT. Our teacher commented he didn’t ski much. We took him down a mogul filled trail. The moguls were about four feet in height. I could barely ski one.

He, the Teacher, casually looked at us and bounced…bip, bip, bip thru and waited (a while) for us kids to finish.

He went to college in Colorado and didn’t ski much as he worked full time.

To this day, I still can’t ski moguls.

              1. When kids lay down those skills and good habits early, they usually stay fearless as they grow well into adulthood. Probably has something to do with being so light and low to the ground, the skiing spills don’t hurt so much then, if at all. Learned to ski moguls by watching the champion, Billy the Kid. It seemed to be more of a case of the moguls trying to conquer him rather than him trying to conquer the moguls. He just bounced right over them low to the ground, laughing as he went.

Last of the mogul runs was in my 40’s. Back-planted so hard into a large, solid one that I had to lay there letting the reality sink in. (1) Probably forced it, and (2) the ‘equipment’ was clearly past its expiration date.

            3. Hey MP. Cool story. I’ve skied exactly 16 days in my life. Once at age 21 with my mom in Ellicottville, NY, who skied circles around me while I stayed on the bunny slopes all day. Once at age 26 at Big Bear Mountain, CA, on a warm day at the end of the season, which ended in a hilarious disaster for me and not-so-hilarious for the poor Japanese fellow I careened into at the bottom right by the ski racks. Finally at age 40, I spent a solid two weeks at my friends’ condo on Copper Mountain, CO. I’m rather athletic which helped compensate for learning such a non-intuitive sport at such an age. I’m like an idiot savant on skiis, though I think there was also a whole lotta luck.

My friend is a national ski instructor, and so were her friends, so I got a different teacher every day. What fun!! Though still a novice, I eventually got quite comfortable on blues after a week. But one day I made a small wrong turn and next thing I knew I was facing down from the top of a black diamond. Stopping and looking back, I saw that it was a steep 50-yard climb uphill to get back to the blue, and I knew side-stepping back up would have been an incredible feat….and I just didn’t have the strength.

So, I began down. My friend taught me the basics of moguls so I wasn’t too intimidated. It took me a long time to get down. I’d stop, scan for a decent target a couple feet away, reach it, pause and scan again, and then skied a few feet further. I continued piecemeal in this fashion, little by little, until I finally reached a smooth course once more. (Huh, it was like I was taking each “Next Right Step” carefully, but on skiis!)

Moral of the story, given enough time and care, one can ski just about anything including bowls….well, maybe not heliskiing.

Of course, as far as the Storm goes, we may not have the luxury of taking our time all the way down.

    2. Red Lodge mountain is 40 miles from where I live. When I asked him if he had ever skied that run. He said, yeah, it was no fun. Too steep. I was more of a green diamond skier. Was being the operative word. Now, more of the cross country type. Yeah, no celebrating until skis are off and sitting down, preferably eating lunch.

Lauderdale that spring break with other buds, but my prudent parents made me go to Montana with our Priest, the Liturgical Music Director, an English teacher and six other classmates. We got to ski, but the trade off was we had to help conduct a two day retreat in Billings for girls at the local Catholic high school. Fortunately the Holy Spirit took the 10th spot on that trip.

And that’s the rest of the story, as Paul Harvey would say.

  12. Here is a ~4 minute video from the Reddit (?) boards that demonstrates “The Moral Element” of the war we are engaged in.

This video is about the silver operations underway and the spokesman , “nobody special” , makes clear that the ops are not about the money, but about ending the lies and the frauds that have been perpetuated on us for decades.

I did not hear any cussing or stuff in the vid…

FYI, “The Moral Element of War” is a term I picked up on that describes the most fundamental motivator for warriors. A recent example of the globalists losing “The Moral Element of War” is the enthusiastic reception President Trump recieved for “ending endless wars abroad”. The people, we deplorables, know that “our rulers” are not worth fighting and dying for as they are liars and frauds. Ergo, “our rulers” have lost “the moral element of war”.

    God bless.

  16. Well I attempted to get a HCQ prescription from frontline doctors. I paid the $90.00 for the conference. The doctor said she doesn’t really believe the HCQ route does any good and because I don’t have symptoms she wouldn’t prescribe it.

    Liked by 2 people

    1. Our doctor won’t prescribe it as a preventative either.
He seems to think there is a shortage of the medicine.
      However, you can check https://stevesfrontporch.com/healing/healing-protocols/covid19-protocol-short/
(As a preventative = quercetin, zinc, Vitamin C and of course D3)
      “Core Prevention Steps:
I do all of these first five steps, because I consider them crucial to good health in
general and specifically wise for preventing Covid.
      1) VITAMIN D3: The keystone for all viral illnesses including Covid-19 is getting
my Vitamin D3 levels up. I test my blood level of D3 every 3-4 months and take sun or
D3 supplements to get my level above 40 ng/mL at minimum and preferably between
60 and 80, at all times. I also take Vitamin K2 (2 100 mg caps a day) and Magnesium
(malate powder) to bowel tolerance so my body uses D3 and stores calcium properly.
      Vitamin D3: https://stevesfrontporch.com/stuff/4ae/4d/#ar-vitamin-d3
      Vitamin K2: https://stevesfrontporch.com/stuff/4ko/4k/#ar-vitamin-k2
      MagMalate: https://stevesfrontporch.com/stuff/4ko/4m/#ar-magnesium
      2) VITAMIN C: Next, I take 2,000 mg of Liposomal Vitamin C daily when healthy
and will take much more if sick. The way I calculate my needed maintenance dose of C
is “22 mg of C times my weight in pounds.” For me this works out to be between 2 and
3 grams of C a day. Since Liposomal C is more easily absorbed, my current dose is
reasonable at 2 caps daily. (If you feel worse when taking C, ask your doctor to test
you for a G6PD deficiency, and if you have that gene flaw, be sure to take the N-Acetyl-
Cysteine and Selenium combination in Step 4 below to mitigate that problem.)
      https://stevesfrontporch.com/stuff/4ae/4c/#ar-vitamin-c
      3) To reduce or eliminate viral replication (antiviral pathway 1):
      • Take either standard Quercetin (“Q”)
(when healthy: 1 500 mg cap daily / if sick: 2-3 500 mg caps daily),
      OR Quercetin Phytosome (“QP”)
(when healthy: 1 250 mg cap daily / if sick: 2-3 250 mg caps daily),
      https://stevesfrontporch.com/stuff/4pt/4q/#ar-quercetin
      • OR Hydroxychloroquine (see Note 3B for “HCQ”)
(when healthy: 1 cap 1-2 times per week / if sick: take as prescribed),
      • And Always ZINC (see Note 3A)
(when healthy: 1 30 mg cap daily / if sick: up to 150 mg daily).
      https://stevesfrontporch.com/stuff/4uz/4z/#ar-zinc
      —–
Note 3A: Remember that it is the zinc that does the work. Q, QP and HCQ are the
substances that get the zinc into your cells so zinc can stop viral replication. Taking Q,
QP or HCQ helps on their own, but the real benefit requires that you take zinc.”

He also has a few other suggestions- check the site.

    2. Hi HTTP,
I got HCQ and Quercetin from: speakwithmd.com
$90 for conference call with M.D. (I have no symptoms)
$190 total for HCQ and Quercetin. I will take with D3, Zinc, and Vit C when/if the time comes that I test positive for covid.

The process from doctor to having the meds delivered was 3 days.

I posted this earlier. I hope it helps you.

      1. That is what I did just what you told the doctor. She said doesn’t give a prescription without being sick. She also said that HCQ doesn’t work all that great. The study she is basing her decision on used sugar pills and HCQ showed isn’t that effective. She also said quinine doesn’t do much.
I wrote a note to speakwithmd telling them what happened and they shouldn’t include this doctor in their referrals.

        Liked by 2 people

        1. HTTP, as I say just below in a comment, HCQ is helpful when used properly for prophylaxis, which of course is when you are *not* sick and are trying not to *get* sick. Ivermectin for Covid is more effective. Quinine is not something I would recommend for Covid prevention. I believe the other two are safer.

          Liked by 2 people

    3. HTTP, the major point for HCQ *is* prophylaxis and very early in any infection, so this doctor doesn’t appear to understand HCQ’s best use case. However, that’s OK, there are alternatives, and I like them better. I use Quercetin and zinc daily for prophylaxis and would simply increase the dose if I felt the beginnings of illness. I think for *this* application that Quercetin may actually be better than HCQ. Like HCQ, Ivermectin is a “liposomotropic agent” and appears to be more effective than HCQ as well, and I am planning on using it for prophylaxis.

The program I follow is, in my opinion, at least as good as any of the vaccines that are around these days in terms of prevention and treatment, and it also protects me from a very large number of other viruses and illnesses, something the vaccines will not do. And the program does it with little or no side effects. However, unlike the vaccines, which are done twice (each year?) and are free, my program requires adoption for the rest of my life and is somewhat costly. I pay that money gladly.

      I hope this helps. 🙂

  18. Fr Z has a comprehensive article on today’s feast: https://wdtprs.com/2021/02/wdtprs-candlemas-purification-of-the-bvm-and-presentation-of-our-lord/

…”Remember: Holy Church gives us candles so that we will use them. When I baptize, I suggest to people that they save the candle, with a label indicting what it is and who was there, the name of the priest, etc. Perhaps then they could save that candle against the day when, perhaps, it might be used as one of the candles on the altar for their wedding, or with a home Communion set, for when they need Last Rites. The candle you receive on other days of the year, the Vigil of Easter for example, or for Eucharist processions, could be burned in times of trial or danger, as when storms are coming or there is social upheaval. These candles remind us that we too out to be filled with light for others, in their darkness and difficulties, to see and be guided by.

Candles are beautiful symbols of our sacrifices. They are like living things. They eat and drink the wax from the bees, made collectively in association with sweetness. They breath air. They move in their flames as they flicker. They communicate to our eyes a beautiful light and give contrast to their surroundings by illumination. They burn out at the end of their span. So do we. They are consumed for the Lord in the liturgy. So should we be. We do all these things. And so, using candles in important times is a very wholesome and Catholic practice. Leaving one of these little candles in a Church, as a symbolic sacrifice of your prayers and petitions is entirely natural.”

…”There is an adage that sin makes you stupid. Note the connection between vice and blindness and darkness. The visible fire is not just a symbol of the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. It also signifies life properly lived, a fact seen by others.”

    1. Yes, Archbishop Hoser reiterates what the faithful clergy in the hierarchy have been preaching for years. Much like China with its horrific regime, the people there are oppressed and do NOT agree with governmental policies. That’s what America has become when you consider the fraud of this election and how Trump won by a landslide. Rather than addressing all of America, I think it’s better to aim this message at those who are actually in power peddling abortion as well as those who support it.

  20. I have been pondering how to deal with the vaccines. Here is one page that I think everyone here will want to read. It’s prepared by LifeSite and covers whether the various vaccines use aborted fetal cells in any capacity. As far as I can tell from other sources, it is accurate (enough). My apologies if others have posted this already:

    https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/which-covid-19-vaccines-are-connected-to-abortion

As far as my observations so far about current vaccines, my study of them is complicated by (1) the abstrusity (sic) of the technology of the mRNA ones, and (2) the apparently extreme amount of censorship of counter-narrative news. However, if the above link is not persuasive enough, then I will say that the already apparent side effects and the potential long term effects are larger and at least potentially more damaging than we are being told by the Powers. How much more? [Shrug] Don’t know yet and probably won’t fully know for as much as 1-2 years.

I will make an observation about the power of this vaccine push to cause our world to bifurcate. Those who do the right thing and refuse to take the vaccines with fetal connections will set themselves outside the group that will be damaged, provided they treat themselves with good methods like Ivermectin and so on. Those who do their research in a fair and balanced way, unswayed by propaganda on the one hand and fear on the other will likely also decide to stand aside from this rush into damage. Those who follow the Left and believe, “huh, science doncha know” and trust the Left’s authorities will take the vaccines and be both morally wrong (again) and subject to the damage the vaccines can or may do. The saddest are those who ask me if I think they should take the vaccine jab and when I say the best thing is to wait to see more of what will happen, they smile sadly, say, “yeah, you’re probably right,” and then out of fear, go out and get the vaccine anyway.

My advice on the vaccines that are not morally compromised (if any), wait and watch. For the morally compromised vaccines, same advice, wait and watch. Don’t let the demon of fear drive you. Patience. Wait and watch. In the meantime, get your Vitamin D3 over 50 ng/mL and do the other things that will help you stay safe from the wild virus.

But finally and absolutely, you must make your own decision. You cannot avoid responsibility for the consequences of your choice. Just do the best you can. After all, the decision is truly in your own hands. I merely comment.

    1. Steve, your info is always appreciated. I have read so many articles and sites re the vaccines, that one of our kids is teasing me for sending so many emails. One of my concerns is the time we might HAVE to take a vaccine, and if there’s a safe one. There’s no way I’ll put mRNA into my body! Your link discusses the safety, which not all articles have done. There’s good info on the Charlotte Lozier Institute site, which has a good analysis too.

      https://lozierinstitute.org/update-covid-19-vaccine-candidates-and-abortion-derived-cell-lines/

Medically, what is the least harmful (protein based, etc.) if it ever comes to that?

      Liked by 2 people

      1. Annie, thank you for your kind words. Like you, I worry about being forced to take an mRNA vaccine or to opt out of society. I have a life which is mostly out of society anyway, meaning that I have few ties to officialdom or have kids in school or whatever. I don’t know your situation, but as for me, being forced to take an mRNA vaccine or opt out of society makes me want to opt out and trust to God to help me use my ingenuity to figure out how to do that and stay alive and enjoy life and help others.

I just have this feeling that God would not put us in this storm without giving us ways to do the right thing and be able to move forward in life. But I don’t have any dependents, so I know this decision would be much harder for those who do.

As for a vaccine, I must admit these are such early days that I have been focusing almost completely on the mRNA stuff. Also, I think my program of supplements is just as good as any vaccine, provided I can keep it up. But I would say that with all the vaccine candidates being worked on, I would choose a vaccine that uses the old approach (killed or attenuated virus) and then use the homeopathic program of treatment for vaccination to ease the side effects. I think Mick might have a write-up of that program. You could ask her for that information and then stockpile the few homeopathic remedies required just in case. Such remedies stay potent for a long time when properly stored.

I want to add that I don’t view being forced to take an mRNA vaccine or any vaccine produced using aborted fetal cells as being on the same level as being forced to take an ethical old-style vaccine. Force is no good, of course, and I would resist that, just as I have refused to get tested using the deliberately corrupted PCR test. However, being forced to take an mRNA vaccine that used aborted fetal cells crosses the line for me, not only due to the ethical and moral concern but also because I believe my health would be significantly damaged by the mRNA approach. Some people can handle the mRNA approach and some cannot. I am of the belief that I am not one of those people who can handle it.

Addition: One of our alert readers pointed out to me earlier today that the John Paul II Medical Research Institute is beginning to work on a fully ethical, attenuated live virus vaccine, but they have quite a way to go before it will be on the market.

        1. Kim, I am in agreement with you. If ‘they’ are vaccinated and you (we) are not…. why are they worried? They have no reason to believe an unvaccinated person is contagious to them.

If so, then the vaccine doesn’t work and should be disregarded.

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

28 And God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”

  21. Most vaccines will either be manufactured by CHO (Chinese Hamster Ovary Cells) or Yeast fermentation, the latter is preferred due to much lower manufacturing costs. This is for polypeptide derived vaccines. The Moderna one is oligonucleotide (RNA like) which is very different. Where fetal cells come in to play for some but not all vaccines is during the R&D phase. The key question to answer is do the potential benefits outweigh the side effects and potential long term issues? My personal take having worked in field is that the vaccines are likely advisable at this time for those with severe underlying health issues and are over 50 – otherwise worth waiting. Before deciding on vaccine suggest getting the antibody test done – can get tested for free if donate blood. If you already have the Covid antibodies there is no legitimate scientific evidence to suggest a vaccine is needed.

    1. Yes, TSG, the benefits versus not only the risks, but also the source needs to be weighed. Having gone through covid with the priest – in his nineties – with whom I live in residence and for whom I provide care and who has four underlying heath conditions… and knowing the information that our own SteveBC has generously gifted us (among many shared health gems he provided, one that stands out is to get your Vitamin D up to excellent levels and your immune system will not only beat back covid, it’ll also go to bat for you by suppressing any viral attack)… and knowing the 99.9% survival rate from covid… and knowing that somewhere in most lines of vaccines aborted fetal tissue was used – new or old – it’s fetal tissue… and knowing that the Gospel calls us to pray over one another which Father and I did when we had covid, to great effect… and knowing that those who take the vitamins Steve recommends if they do get covid (I know people who felt as if they had a cold by doing this) and I used several essential oil products as well as a fantastic homeopathic which lightened the impact of symptoms… and faced with the reality that the vaccines were rushed through development and production as never before in history using verrrry suspicious “ingredients” leaves the current vaccines sorely lacking in terms of need to get them.

IF I had had the covid, now, day 9, I should be in the hospital with no treatment at all, but am still awaiting test results so I can go back to Mass! I’m having withdrawals! Thank you Bekita and Steve.

        1. A friend who lives in the Midwest is into the doTerra oils, Maggie. She sent me a care package with the oils, Copaiba and On Guard,in softgel capsules. I also took peppermint oil for nausea – that was the most annoying symptom for me. No loss of taste or smell, just undulating nausea. I actually giggled at one point, though. It was when Father had laid hands on my head and honestly prayed: “Lord, please give her a break.” Know what though? Into everyone’s life comes trials. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) Or consider St. Paul:

“Again I say, don’t think that I am a fool to talk like this. But even if you do, listen to me, as you would to a foolish person, while I also boast a little. Such boasting is not from the Lord, but I am acting like a fool. And since others boast about their human achievements, I will, too. After all, you think you are so wise, but you enjoy putting up with fools! You put up with it when someone enslaves you, takes everything you have, takes advantage of you, takes control of everything, and slaps you in the face. I’m ashamed to say that we’ve been too “weak” to do that!

But whatever they dare to boast about—I’m talking like a fool again—I dare to boast about it, too. Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they descendants of Abraham? So am I. Are they servants of Christ? I know I sound like a madman, but I have served him far more! I have worked harder, been put in prison more often, been whipped times without number, and faced death again and again. Five different times the Jewish leaders gave me thirty-nine lashes. Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked. Once I spent a whole night and a day adrift at sea. I have traveled on many long journeys. I have faced danger from rivers and from robbers. I have faced danger from my own people, the Jews, as well as from the Gentiles. I have faced danger in the cities, in the deserts, and on the seas. And I have faced danger from men who claim to be believers but are not. I have worked hard and long, enduring many sleepless nights. I have been hungry and thirsty and have often gone without food. I have shivered in the cold, without enough clothing to keep me warm.

Then, besides all this, I have the daily burden of my concern for all the churches. Who is weak without my feeling that weakness? Who is led astray, and I do not burn with anger?

If I must boast, I would rather boast about the things that show how weak I am. God, the Father of our Lord Jesus, who is worthy of eternal praise, knows I am not lying. When I was in Damascus, the governor under King Aretas kept guards at the city gates to catch me. I had to be lowered in a basket through a window in the city wall to escape from him.” (2 Cor 11:16-33)

We DO have a share in Christ’s suffering and we in the western world have become soft. Discernment is needed as some suffering is unnecessary and unjust, such as wounds inflicted by sin. The wounded one deserves our care and Christ’s healing, the better to know joy as well as experiencing the inevitable sorrows which come from carrying the cross to which Christ calls us to pick up and follow after Him.

          1. I do like that translation, Beckita. You can really “hear” Paul speak!

Which reminds me: one of the best books I read about him was Taylor Caldwell’s “Great Lion of God”. She’s a great writer, I think. She also wrote one on St. Luke, “Dear and Glorious Physician”. I’d thoroughly recommend both. And also, Michael D. O’Brien’s “Theophilus”, again on Luke.

You’ll be “evangelised out” after reading all of them.

Oh wait, Paul wasn’t an evangelist, strictly speaking, but…

            hmmm…

Oh look, is that a can of Guinness in the fridge? *wanders distractedly, yet somewhat purposefully, off*

I am amazed to hear everyones symptoms from this covid….i and 6 other friends all came down with it at the same time. 3 of the 7 had that nausea and fever…..another had bad cough and fever, I had barely a temp(99.5) for one day and the last person not much of anything at all. My covid went all in my sinuses and parked it there for a good 2 weeks. it was weird because i could breathe okay thru my nose but i sounded horrible. I continued my daily workouts and drank emergen-c and took vit d3 and echinacea every day. drank lots of water. i never had nausea or loss of taste and smell, while all the others lost taste and smell. my appetite actually increased for junk food!!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha……i just find it fascinating how different everyones experience is.

            1. That is hilarious about the junk food tooth, GK! Mine disappeared during covid and kicked right in again during the holidays. It IS interesting the way the symptoms vary. I’m thinking whatever propensity a person has to illness becomes the weak link that feels the symptoms.

    2. Science Guy, thank you for weighing in here. I’ve been trying to figure out some of the reports I’ve been seeing on the effects of the mRNA vaccines. I’m speculating somewhat here but am thinking that a lot of the reports I see on older people going down hard and sometimes later dying may be treatable. Someone I read said that a lot of older people have DNRs, so when they go down, nobody does anything for them, so what should be a short term issue turns deadly.

It’s looking to me as if these vaccines put very large demands on the body and drain the body of energy for at least several days. This would perhaps be due to the body using NAD+ and its energy pathway so quickly that older people with a normal deficit of NAD+ cannot keep up. Or due to large-scale inflammation. There may be other factors, but these are big ones, I think.

If so, then I would recommend first that the older people you want to see get the vaccines should either avoid the vaccines and do long-term treatment (my preferred alternative for everyone, really) or prepare to strengthen themselves after getting the vaccine.

For this, I would think the following might help:

      1) Get some organic coconut oil or better, some MCT oil, and take teaspoons of it every hour or two for the next several days. This will provide ketones that are burned directly into energy by the body, particularly the brain and heart and can be easily absorbed even if the person feels quite sick.

      2) Get some niacin (nicotinic acid) that provides for the flush reaction. Before taking the vaccine, take some 2 times a day, starting at 100mg each time and going up 100mg each time the flush reaction is minimal and staying at a level if the flush is strong until it declines. Niacin may help increase NAD+.

      3) If a person who has taken the vaccine starts having severe symptoms, consider taking some anti-inflammatories like astaxanthin and or curcumin to tamp down the inflammation to a more tolerable level. If they work, just take them long term.

      4) Take 50-100,000 IUs of Vitamin D3 for two days before getting the vaccine and stay at 50,000 IUs for a few days after getting the vaccine to help their immune system deal with the stress it is under from the vaccine.

I think this program would significantly benefit particularly the frail elderly and those already coping with both older age and co-morbidities, so that they can get through the short term stress of the vaccination without a lot of pain or for some, dying.

Just a week prior tens of thousands had gone to Wash DC to protest and stop the steal. Why did the President call everyone to come back on Jan. 6th? What good was another rally at that point?

To the Left, “diversity” is defined as having a bunch of non-white people who worship at the altar of Leftist thought (it’s semi-OK if they’re white as long as they are gay, trans, bi, nonbinary, or just super-duper-woke). Diversity of thought will not be tolerated even though one’s skin be as black as night.

  27. Dear Steve,

You hit at some great points – that an injectable is a big shock to the system and good to have plenty of vitamins, etc. Post care treatment certainly does not get enough attention. When I received an antibody test many months ago, was given a B12 shot. The doctor indicated they did that preventatively in case I would have developed the anti-bodies recently. Personally don’t think the shot is necessary as can get oral B12 which in theory should have same bioavailability. One thing also that is included often in Covid treatment regimens are steroids and it is reasonable to surmise that they would work preventatively. A doctor I know who runs a testosterone replacement clinic for men indicated that he only knew of 1 out of 400 patients he knew of had Covid.

Regarding the MRa Oligonucleotides, those type of drug candidates have been known since the 80’s but there was no hood way to affect drug delivery. Presume no one wants a direct injection into their liver. ….. the lipid formulations are what stabilize the MRA. These formulations are very new and need to be considered as part of the drug and more than a simple additive / preservative.

Regarding antibody therapies – these therapeutics are very effective – what Pres. Trump got. These are MABS, monoclonal antibodies, produced by recombinant technologies free of fetal cells. Really wish there was as big a push for these high end therapeutics as there are for vaccines.

One thing that my dad mentioned the other day was that according to a report (not sure exactly what the source is for this), the U.S. economy will very likely collapse within the next 45 days. For what that’s worth…… It seems like Biden and company have the pedal through the floor leading to major collapse. 😦 I know that God’s in control, and that he’s got an ongoing plan for renewal, which we’re all part of! 🙂 Plus, as Charlie and others have said, in the end, God wins! 🙂 (of course, I believe that God wins every time we repent of our sins, and strive to do our best to take our “next right steps.” Oh, and no, I won’t be paying any attention to the “impeachment” farce next week, but praying A LOT!!! 🙂 God Bless everyone! 🙂

I don’t always agree with everything Charlie posts here. The Life issues is one of those areas. We agree that voluntary abortion is soul threatening dead wrong intrinsic evil. Mortal sin. Abortion in defense of a mother’s life is to my understanding exceedingly rare. For me and my family those issues get murkier on the other end of the life spectrum. The extent and duration of life support measures is an area of disagreement. Cuz we been there. It is an agonizing situation to be in.

That all being said I am going to take the vaccine.

The best advice we have from my Bishop, the USSCB, and the Pope himself is that it is morally acceptable to take the vaccine. In my last post on COVID several weeks ago I raised the fetal cell connection and expressed some dubiousness about the rationale being trial ballooned by the Church at that time. But the Church hierarchy from the Pope on down to my Bishop have “blessed”this vaccine approach. Being obedient is not necessarily a bad thing all the time.

    Matthew 18:18
” Amen, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

I have had a discussion with my primary care doc and I asked him who would call the shots if I had to go into the hospital with COVID. He said when you go through those doors you will be assigned to a hospitalist and they will be calling the shots.

His emphasis is in preventing hospitalization by strengthening the immune system with what we might call the BC shotgun of supplements. He is not opposed to the use of Hydroxy but he cautioned me that wit Afib he would not recommend it for me. His preferred approach is Ivermectin and Doxy. He would also use oral steroids if it comes to it. He also would advise the monoclonal stuff given to President Trump to stay out of inpatient status.

I spoke with him re the mRNA concerns. How they have been trying to develop a safe mNRA vaccine since 2002 Sars. How all the ferrets died. How there has been no Phase III testing. How Big Pharma has been absolved of any liability for side effects. How the world population is assuming the role of the ferrets/guinea pigs. How the fear is that mRNA vaccine gets absorbed in the DNA turning us all into bio-engineered creatures. How the mRNA will respond and fight and kill the COVID bug should you run into it, as all of us will at some time, but that the immune system will recognize the remnants of the vaccine permeating the vital organs and that it will attack those organs. Just like the ferrets.

He listened very carefully to my concerns. He replied that he has read the study knew all about it. “It was done in 2012 by an Irish doctor. Since then there have been several subsequent studies done re mRNA.” He said the vaccine cannot alter your DNA. He also said that Immunology has advanced 10 years as a result of COVID. That there will be mRNA vaccines coming out for many diseases. He even predicted that one day we are going to produce a cancer vaccine.

    Wouldn’t that be wonderful?

I wish everyone good luck in their decision making going forward. Do your own thinking with the best medical advice you can get.

      1. I looked at the link LittleoneinPA.

I think the author’s argument is a bit semantic for me.

He implies Covid is not a disease but a set of symptoms resembling the Flu. So, no disease. The corona virus is not the problem with this phenomenon we are witnessing. I dunno, ask all those nursing home patients in NY what they think it is and does it really matter how you label it?

He quibbles about the word “vaccine”. It is not dead virus. It is not the standard approach to protecting our system from invaders. It’s gene therapy. So don’t call it a vaccine.

He reports that the testing is faulty. Returns a lot of false positives and false negatives. Thing is that test was never designed to be a diagnostic tool in the first place. Again, so no real disease and the CDC and WHO have been lying to us.

What I would like to know is what do they mean when they say this or that “vaccine” or whatever it is achieves 93% effectiveness against Covid. I think it means that the set of symptoms arising from the deliberate exposure to the Corona virus identified as the “disease” or whatever it is prevented it from manifesting into full blown symptoms that can kill you in 93% of the test subjects.

I would also note this author is not a medical doctor or a scientist and he is basing his opinion on reading somebody else’s work.

If you are considering whether to take the vaccine or whatever it is you should consult your own medical provider.
