Beyond the Failsafe

Vercingetorix throwing down his arms before Julius Caesar. Painting by Lionel Royer.

(I have been pondering this piece for several weeks. I think we have entered difficult new territory in an irrevocable way. For those who asked, no, I have not been sick since getting home – just working my way through this piece. It lays out our way forward as I see it. Meantime, I am working intently on finishing the CORAC handbook and the currency manual before I go on the road again. They are vital elements to carry us forward – though more difficult than I originally thought. Not to worry…the greatest difficulty I have in writing critical pieces is boiling things down so that it is accessible to all. -CJ)

I intend to write about the glorious Field Day we had in Region 9 in Wisconsin a few weeks ago. It marked a significant milestone, I think. For the first time, the people who were the most engaged and enthused were young parents. We are preparing a documentary podcast on it. I think I will put the piece up as my commentary once the documentary is available.

I have been troubled these last few weeks by events in the news. With the firehose of news we are being bombarded with it is easy to just dismiss everything as more chaos. It gets very difficult to recognize true turning points because it is all so dysfunctional. Yet I am convinced that in the last few weeks we have passed a major turning point, one that ensures that we will soon degenerate into catastrophic social and economic collapse, open revolution, or nullification and secession which could lead to open and violent civil war.

In mid-December of 2020 I wrote the obituary of the American Republic. When the Supreme Court refused to even look at the evidence of massive vote fraud by the left upon application by 18 states it signaled that America had entered its end game. Most Supreme Court justices naively thought they could just swallow one fraudulent election and then everything would go back to normal. I knew it would embolden a revolutionary leftist movement that had already decided it was not bound by the Constitution. As usual, I was right on the substance of my analysis but off on some of the timing and a few details. Since then, the Supreme Court has realized the magnitude of its error and has tried to make up for it with some genuinely grounded and principled Constitutional decisions. It is usually best to shut the barn door before all the horses get loose.

Before I get to why we have gone beyond the failsafe point I must emphasize that the point of this post is what we should do to prepare, the habits of mind and practice that will help us stand together when everything falls around us. If you know you have flak incoming shortly, you can ignore it and hope for the best; you can complain at the top of your lungs about the outrageousness of it all; or you can use the time available to you before the full assault commences to prepare for it and, hopefully, survive and emerge to rebuild.

It is easy to get so lost in the details of all the outrages formally committed against Christians and conservatives by the government that you miss the overall sweep and the larger significance of it. I will list just seven items here…not to nurse outrages, but to ask you to look at the pattern behind them.

  • Every time a new trove of hard evidence of the Biden crime family’s corruption drops, prosecutors announce a new indictment against Donald Trump. The evidence against Biden is hard, compelling, sordid and treasonous. The charges against Trump are flimsy, manufactured, include things that have been routine (unindicted) practices by all modern former presidents, and involve imaginative stretches of statutory law. Clearly, the justice system is no longer about justice, but is a sword to attack conservatives and the faithful and a shield to protect leftists from their genuinely criminal corruption.
  • Increasingly, blue states are refusing to allow Christian parents who are serious about their faith to adopt or even act as foster parents to any children. The justification is that they will not provide “gender-affirming care” if the children are persuaded to ask for mutilation surgery. In a couple of the bluest states, legislators have decided they can take children away from their natural parents if those parents refuse to have them mutilated on request. The Justice Dept. targeted parents who objected to woke nonsense and gender theory at school board meetings. Atty. Gen. Merrick Garland then compounded the offense by pretending it never happened, when documents and whistle-blowers show it clearly did. People who, 30 years ago, would have been celebrated as parents of the year are now deemed enemies of the state.
  • For several years now, the FBI has been targeting Christians by arresting (sometimes in armed raids) people who protest or pray at abortion facilities while ignoring the firebombing and vandalizing of Christian pro-life crisis pregnancy centers. Just in the last week, a boy became one more in the multitude of people who have been arrested these last two years for praying or protesting at a drag queen story hour. The FBI sent agents surreptitiously among Catholics who prefer the traditional Latin Mass, describing them as potentially dangerous radicals. And once again, the officials in charge lied under oath about the extent of what they were doing. (For any agent assigned to me, I am having lunch today with a rad-trad friend who is in town for a few days. Tonight, I will be chatting with a close friend who distinctly prefers the Latin Mass. I am neither a rad-trad nor do I prefer the Latin Mass, but I deeply respect and count as friends many of those who do. So please, Biden Justice Dept., consider me a fellow traveler of these “dangerous extremists,” – because I am.)
  • Early this year, FBI agents who were caught dead to right for having lied and falsified documents in the Russia collusion hoax were found not guilty by a D.C. jury despite “smoking gun” evidence. Afterward, a jury member said, essentially, that he did not consider it a crime for someone to conspire to smear Donald Trump. In Portland, a jury found for Antifa despite video evidence of its violence. The trial was marred by intimidation tactics against the jury, reporters and officials by Antifa. It should have been ended when the group’s defense lawyer told the jury, “I am Antifa,” and promised she would remember each one of their faces.
  • An incompetent government that cannot provide law and order, will not provide for the common defense, meddles in ways that despoil the economy and ruins peoples’ lives occupies itself ordering you around, banning incandescent light bulbs, trying to ban gas stoves, issuing all manner of micro regulations over your life. This is standard operating procedure with narcissistic incompetents: they can’t solve any problems, but their unearned self-regard can only blame and bully others in order to maintain their delusion of superiority. All it is is the will to power, frantically pursued by incompetent lowlife thugs.
  • Kurt Schlichter wrote a powerful column about angry young men, who are the genuine victims of deep oppression and suppression these last 15 years, and the role they are likely to play in overthrowing the “woke” paradigm. I concur with it almost entirely – and I have met and chatted with some of these young men. They are not who you think they are. At a dinner I was at in the eastern U.S., I remarked that my generation had badly failed the younger folks by failing to maintain standards and fight for the faith and liberty we once took for granted as our birthright. One man in his late 20’s opened up, saying I was absolutely right. He remarked that he and his friends talked about it all the time; that while they are not there yet, they are determined, when they come to power, to chase the shrieking atheists and woke incompetents from the temple entirely and set things right. The bitterness in his matter-of-fact voice somewhat chilled me. This was not the typical “angry young man.” He was a kind, gentle father of four and a devoted husband.
  • Neither the leaders of the left nor most of its followers are at all interested in truth anymore. Nor are they interested in facts, evidence, or logic. The Babylon Bee captured this brazen attitude perfectly. My belief in the basic honor and goodness of most people has caught me off guard in a big way three times in my lifetime. First, in the 70’s and early 80’s I believed that as science demonstrated the fullness of the humanity of unborn children, people would back away from the abyss of abortion. Originally, abortion was justified under the “blob of tissue” argument. In 1983 Planned Parenthood realized that ultrasounds were destroying that argument. So, it issued a confidential memo to its affiliates, acknowledging that fact and urging those affiliates to switch to a carefully crafted “right to choose” argument. Second, I prayed often that the Lord show everyone what I perceived, believing that if people saw what the ultimate consequences of our intentional dysfunction were, they would repent. We are living early stages of it now and a large faction only doubles down. Finally, I believed that almost all people would change course if objective evidence and facts proved compellingly that they had been following lies. Our current experience proves otherwise. Everything has been reduced to a raw struggle for power. When a large faction adopts that stance, they will not stop until they are stopped. On Twitter and Facebook I still make arguments, but it is no longer in hopes that the leftists there will step back from the abyss. They don’t care about facts or evidence. It is so their toxic lies do not go unchecked before people of good will who are still struggling to discern what is right.

Under these circumstances (and I barely scratched the surface here) the die is cast and the battle lines are largely formed. An existential conflict is near at hand – in this country and in the world. The left has decided it will lie, cheat and steal to establish the authoritarian oligarchy it wants. For our own sake and that of our children and grandchildren, we must not and will not submit.

The only options left open to us now are revolution, civil war, or secession. Of course, catastrophic collapse could come before any of those options come fully into play. Heaven knows incompetent leftist policies hollow us out culturally, politically, and economically even as they crow about how wonderful everything is. Even so, the skills necessary to weather any of these eventualities are similar, if not exactly the same.

In the first place, we must be prepared for the crisis. As special soldiers forces sometimes say, “Hope is not a plan.” If an enemy is trying to kill you, hoping for the best will only get you killed. Make no mistake, the left is now glad to kill us if they can’t get us to submit. Hundreds of political prisoners are being held in Washington jails. Fire-bombing crisis pregnancy centers is a matter of indifference to this federal government. Even the case of the obese 74-year-old man who had made threats against Joe Biden and was shot 37 times in a pre-dawn raid by the FBI is notably hinky. The FBI refuses to say whether or not he was armed, refuses to release any video footage, and refuses to explain why a pre-dawn SWAT-style raid was necessary for a man who needed a cane to get around at all. It looks more like an execution than an arrest to me at this stage of things. We must be prepared for ever-increasingly frequent and violent depredations by a federal occupying force that has concluded that we will not submit voluntarily so they must use force and coercion to bring us to heel. As Kurt Schlichter notes in the above linked item, the left will expect us to intervene on their behalf when they get serious pushback. Except for indiscriminate and untargeted violence, I will not. They have earned the pushback coming to them, and our liberty depends on it coming. I, of course, support nullification and secession as the options least likely to provoke large-scale violence, but I will not reflexively condemn targeted efforts that are different from my preference against our oppressors.

While we must be aware of the specific outrages, if howling about them is where it both begins and ends, we are doomed. You might just as well howl that rattlesnakes bite and scorpions sting. Certainly, if you are too busy howling to put on boots, gloves and trail pants when in the desert, you are likely to get bit or stung. Get dressed for your trek and you can walk with both care and confidence.

It is easy and viscerally satisfying to howl with outrage at abuses. If you are dealing with honorable people, it is often even effective. But when you are dealing with a cadre determined to seize power by any means it is not only ineffective, it can actually help enable their seizure by convincing others that they are utterly powerless to stop the assault.  Developing the habits of mind and action that will help you endure and overcome any social crisis takes a lot of work – work that is often mundane and grinding. It also takes a lot of cooperation. There is strength in numbers – and that strength is all the greater when the people involved already know and care about each other. That is why we set up the teams at CORAC the way we have. All the teams are focused on skills and knowledge that will be useful if everything miraculously smoothed out – and vital if they do not. Everything we do requires people to work together to accomplish their projects, whether locally, regionally, or nationally. I make a full circuit of the continental U.S. every year, visiting with our people on the ground, both encouraging them and wondering at the amazing things they are accomplishing. We have had four major field day events that have dazzled everybody in attendance – the national conference in Rapid City, South Dakota and then events in St. Cloud, Minnesota; Tyler, Texas; and Lone Rock, Wisconsin. Each of these were like a rollicking community picnic straight out of the ‘70s. People laughed and joked with each other – without worrying about who they might give offense to; men were men; women were women, and children were safe, playing enthusiastically together. The people 40 and under were the most dazzled, rarely having experienced a joyful large gathering with no grievance-mongering scolds in attendance. In Lone Rock, I introduced an old high school buddy who was Italian as, “the guy in the goombah hat.” At lunch he apologized to me that they had no possum on the menu (my redneck origins are well known). We both laughed, enjoying the affectionate ethnic humor that has been part of our friendship since our school days.

A month or so ago, a fellow asked me if I was pulling a “wax on, wax off” routine on them. I suppose so, for it was not by accident that I initiated the teams to cover the things we would need if society crumbled…and did it by forging the communal bonds that will make us strong together if we have to stand together in a dystopia gone fully malignant. People sometimes encouraged me to recruit more vigorously. I was always ambivalent about recruitment. Yes, I want more people, but I was far more interested in forming a core of people who are willing to roll up their sleeves, get their hands dirty, and do stuff. When our dystopia goes fully malignant, these are the people who will become teachers and leaders to all the people who come flooding in looking for a better way and a community. And they already have been working together for at least several years. The fact is that recruitment-heavy groups that are focused on numbers usually disintegrate when the first heavy trials come. They are like the seed that fell on rocky ground that sprang up enthusiastically, then withered when the heat of summer came, because they had no roots spread (Matthew, Chapter 13). Our meetings and gatherings are more like joyful family reunions than they are like comfortably clinical business meetings. When the rains come, not all of our people will stand – but many will. And they will infect all around them with joyful resolve and courage. That will tell. Wax on, wax off.

In the second place, we must “judge righteous judgment” (John 7:24) by exercising prudence and restraint as well as vigor and action. If all you have is a sword and no shield, the devil owns you. You may think yourself a warrior for Christ, but what is really happening is the devil is using you to do some of his dirty work until you have played out your usefulness to him. Then he runs his sword through you and finds another to unwittingly do his bidding. If you find yourself angry and aggressive all the time, you have entered into the service of the satan.

Fear is also a tool to destroy you. Remember, it is when fright overtook St. Peter that he began to sink beneath the waves. Have you ever made a good decision while in a state of panic? They exist, but are rare. If that is your general modus operandus, you will sink soon enough – while the devil hopes you will take a few down with you.

During the Covid scare, CORAC helped a lot of people find and obtain Ivermectin (the sinister FDA has just ruled that Ivermectin IS useful against Covid and may be prescribed – well after the damage has been done). It was easy to support such efforts. After doing due diligence, I found that both Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine were very likely effective against the illness AND had no significant side effects. Unfortunately, I had some people pressing me to endorse other, more exotic forms of treatment against Covid – some screaming that people were going to die if I didn’t do it. But when doing my due diligence, I found that some of these things were just wishful thinking – while others were, indeed, effective against Covid while causing profound side effects such as severe kidney damage and blood deterioration. I was not about to recommend the CORAC version of Remdesivir, which killed more people than it helped. When you just react to official abuse by adopting an equal and opposite form of your own abuse, you are not helping anyone. You are like a drunk staggering down a corridor, bouncing serially off the left wall and then the right. I largely abide by the Hippocratic Oath in these things: First, do no harm. (Would that the medical profession would get serious about that oath again!)

There are a whole host of people and organizations on the right running around like chickens with their heads cut off in response to the assaults from the left. Which do you think is the more likely scenario: that ordinary folks, as they realize with certainty that things have taken a rottenly sinister turn in the world, are going to turn to people who have been almost as unhinged and volatile as the shrieking, aggressive left or to people who have been measured, joyful, steady, and effective? I take very seriously what I believe to be my commission to help people navigate the greatest crisis in human history up to this point. I will not degenerate into panicked shrieking. Nor will I be distracted into chopping away at the branches of our problems, when I am called to be focused on the roots. I get people all the time trying to convince me I should re-direct CORAC to fight 5G technology, or chem trails or whatever branch they are most focused on. Not gonna happen. We will stay focused on the roots of the problem.

In that regard, I spend very little time looking for enemies. In this time of naked aggression, most enemies reveal themselves quite openly. Rather I engage in a search for allies – and speak in a way that reassures potential allies that if they come to us, they will not be sent away. There is a story about Abraham Lincoln I absolutely love. Secretary of War Edwin Stanton, frustrated with Lincoln’s generous temperament, exclaimed in a meeting that, “Mr. President, you must destroy your enemies.” To which Lincoln replied, “Why Stanton, if I make an enemy into a friend, haven’t I destroyed an enemy?” I am aware of the darkness in a man’s eyes (including my own) but I am also aware of the light there. I look for the light and appeal to it. Yeah, there is a pretty high failure rate, but I love the old Jewish saying that he who rescues one man rescues the whole world.

One way or another, it is all coming down. I do not want ANYONE to dread to come to us out of fear that all they will get is an “I told you so” or a recitation of their previous sins. Lord help us, if all were to have to be reminded of their previous sins before working for the good, who would be able to stand? It is enough for me that one wants to stand now. (And yes, I know enemies sometimes pretend to a change of heart in order to undermine the mission. I have been fooled before, but I had a reputation as one who was very hard to ambush. And if you can fool initially, it is very hard to sustain it. Woe to those who weave such deceptions. They will be revealed for the snakes they are.)

In that light, it is incumbent on each of us to work to see what is best in each person we encounter and appeal to that. That is not just a moral prescription, but a practical guide to coalition building. If someone is of evil will, dismiss them. But make them prove it before shaking the dust off your feet.

That applies to the hierarchy in the Church, as well. I have not been shy about criticizing abuses from clerics. But what about those clerics who abuse neither Scripture nor the Magisterium nor their people? Yes, many are timid. But what have we done to demonstrate to them that if they stand we will stand with them against the inevitable attacks they will attract? Even the boldest warrior, confronted by a hostile army, will quail if he turns and sees his troops are hiding. Yes, I know, the faithful have rallied around a few bold clerics…but much of that rallying has been because such clerics say what the faithful want to hear rather than faithfully defending the truth of Scripture and the Magisterium. I do not follow comforting bromides that ignore large swaths of Scripture and the Magisterium. I want every Priest and Bishop I encounter to know that if he stands boldly for Scripture and the Magisterium, I will stand boldly and publicly with him, wherever the attacks may come from.

Thus, I encourage everyone to cooperate and collaborate with your Bishops and Priests, so long as they are not actively seeking to overturn Scripture and the Magisterium – and do not pretend that, if they simply disagree with you on a point, they are undermining the faith. Some of the people I hold most dearly in my heart are those who have corrected me well. If they are timid, well, that is not your fault. You will have the joy of knowing that, if they do act boldly in defense of the faith, you helped by showing them they had people who would stand firmly with them. Courage is contagious. Let your courage be open and without rancor and you will inspire many.

Understand that banishing fear does not mean nothing bad will ever happen to you. Bad things will almost certainly come. It is a matter of trust. When you fully put your trust in Christ, it no longer matters much what happens to you, for you are confident that whatever Christ allows to befall you, it is either for your good or that of those around you – or both. Your job is to pray and study before making a decision and then make the best decision you can think of. You will still make errors, but God will draw fruit from even those. Do it consistently enough and even the decisions you have to make under pressure will get better.

Finally, be rigorous in the standards you hold yourself to and generous with everyone else. Too many people do this exactly backwards. Do not count yourself among them. The left thinks they have done “research” if they have watched an episode of CNN. Research does NOT mean choosing which talking head you will be an acolyte of. Nor does it mean cherry-picking those items that seem to support what you already believe while ignoring everything else. If you want to do solid research, privately attack your own position ruthlessly, seeking out every credible element you can that contradicts your position. You are ready to opine on a subject when you can routinely express the opposition’s position better than they can. Sometimes you will change your position. When I started radio I was a gun control advocate. Some listeners who were 2nd Amendment activists challenged me, telling me that my points on this were superficial and misleading. So I did a deep dive and found they were right. Two things were necessary here: first, that my listeners felt confident they could politely contradict me and have me take it seriously – and then do the work. If you just cherry-pick favorable material, you stand atop a house of cards, ready to topple at the first strong breeze. If you have rigorously attacked your own position privately, you can walk with real confidence when you proclaim publicly. Frankly, that is a big part of the secret of acting boldly without acting brashly.

Understand that a lot of good people are going to be caught up in the hysteria and tumult of the moment. While speaking boldly about what you believe to be true, do not be quick to denounce those who have let the winds and waves of the storm cause them to sink into panicked error. To do so may well hinder them from doing great work once again after the initial panic has passed.

It comes down to my most oft-repeated dictum: Acknowledge God, Take the Next Right Step, and Be a Sign of Hope to Those Around You. We are the people who do stuff. The old ways are falling away. We are called to stand in the breach. Work steadily without ceasing at this and we will, indeed, be heralds of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart.

When I was in radio – and since then, I hate listening to tapes of myself. My voice is muddy and I am all too aware of my verbal tics. In the old days, I would only listen to myself when the Program Director was doing an aircheck with me or when my kids, on holidays, wanted to listen to the “best of” tape they played on the radio. They just loved the idea of their dad being simultaneously in the car with them and on the radio.

A lot of people ask me about my conversion story. At one of the functions on my last tour, I promised a lady I would do a podcast on it with my co-host, Dr. Joe Brickner. And so we did. I figure I can refer any who ask now to this video. To my surprise, I enjoyed watching it. I intended to just watch a few minutes to see that it was okay, but I watched the whole thing. I hope you will enjoy it, too.

My scheduler, Gina Waters, is now making calls to regional coordinators so she can put together my talks for the fall, winter, and early spring. I will head out west in mid-September, get back to Colorado for a couple of events in mid-October, then head south to Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, on to Alabama and Georgia for the holidays, then up the east coast and back through the Midwest in the spring. If you want to host a talk, contact Gina at ginaw@coracusa.com, to see where it can fit in the schedule. If you are a member of CORAC, there is no fee for any appearance. If you are not, there is a $350 fee. But that has a loophole a mile wide. Just join CORAC, for which there is no fee.

These are tough times and getting tougher. I have some friends telling me I should wind down and prepare personally for the difficulties ahead. Nonsense! I know people are scared in these times. At most events I can see the tension in people as I begin. One of my greatest joys in these days is literally being able to see the moment when the crowd collectively breathes a sigh of relief as they realize that, with God, we can do this. I will not deprive myself of that joy. I am confident that when it all comes down, God will open the door to whatever He wants next. And I always have my loaded backpack with me, so I will not be without shelter during the transition. We can do this. God made us for these times.

My second favorite picture of my youngest granddaughter, Maggie and me. I put it here because it’s my blog and I can.

If communication goes out for any length of time, meet outside your local Church at 9 a.m. on Saturday mornings. Tell friends at Church now in case you can’t then. CORAC teams will be out looking for people to gather in and work with.

“Christ is the rock, for ‘they drank of the same spiritual rock that followed them, and the rock was Christ’ (1 Cor. 10.4); also He denied not to His disciple the grace of this name; that he should be Peter, because he has from the rock (petra) the solidity of constancy, the firmness of faith. Make an effort, therefore, to be a rock! Do not seek the rock outside of yourself, but within yourself! Your rock is your deed, your rock is your mind. Upon this rock your house is built. Your rock is your faith, and faith is the foundation of the Church. If you are a rock, you will be in the Church, because the Church is on a rock. If you are in the Church the gates of hell will not prevail against you”

“But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”

  3. Amazing piece. It got me thinking- where are my blind spots? It’s the proverbial speck in someone else’s eye, yet ignoring the plank in my own. Im going to take some time in prayer asking the Holy Spirit to show me these areas.

  4. Charlie our Sherpa, thank you so much for these insights ~ so helpful for these times.

I notice that a variation of the word “joy” appears eleven times in this post, including in your brief bio at the bottom.

Today in the vibrant Women’s Prayer Group in my parish, I noted the importance of the fruit of the Holy Spirit in these days, which includes JOY. It’s easy to find and point to outrages. Too much of that can be demoralizing and draining rather than inspiring. Thus, humbly calling upon the Holy Spirit to shower us with His fruit is essential for our work.

That’s why the CORAC National Prayer Teams Committee (I pointed out at the WPG today) regularly includes this petition in our monthly prayer intentions:

*As always, that CORAC members volunteering for all of our committees in all of our regions receive the gifts of creativity, good humor, resilience, camaraderie, and unexpected joy of spirit as we serve the Lord in these days

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us.

    1. That’s kind of cool, Sr. Bear. I worked hard on this very solemn piece…and it is nice to know that, without realizing it, even when I am solemn a lot of my focus is centered on joy.

      1. Isn’t “Hope” a kind of joy?!
When I hope in the Lord, it gladdens me. Why? -Because: “In the world we shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). And the gift of hope is that cheer. Jesus said the flesh means nothing, it is the spirit that gives life. (John 6:63). If then, we hope in the Lord, we obtain that joy of life which is “abundant” -beyond the confines of the “flesh” (world). It is the Afterlife Christians pine for. St Paul makes this clear in Philippians 1: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far.”

          2. Here’s a funny story for ya Charlie!!! I was talking via messenger with Desmond last Sunday in regards to a book one of our priests at the shrine said was good and checking with Desmond to see if it was orthodox (which it wasn’t) and either he accidentally messenger FaceTimed me or I accidentally FaceTimed him so we were BOTH confused as we’ve never actually spoken with each other before (but we talk often about eschatology and posts he puts up which I find FASCINATING!!!) so we just started talking together normally (mike was driving to sams club to get petro) and then all of a sudden Desmond says, “Linda, do you know that you are upside down?” Lol 😂 and I was and yet I wasn’t sure if it was he that was upside down or me😂😂😂. So I turned my phone a 180 and of course it was me😂😂😂. But the biggest chuckle out of that came later when I confessed to Desmond that I was still cracking up about finally getting my opportunity to talk to Desmond a birch, who I suspect is a Saint, and to be on the phone with him upside down!!!🤣. I said, “Desmond just imagine finally talking to St Mother Teresa and you end up talking to her upside down!” Lol Naturally Desmond wouldn’t think of himself as a saint so he probably didn’t realize why it was so darn funny to me😂 But it really was very funny to me!😂. I do nutty stuff like that all the time and I don’t know why😂🤣🐿️

  6. What a great rally. Thank you, Commander of the Squirrel Battalion.

I have been trying repeatedly to get on the list of emails for my region and I can’t seem to. Can anyone help me? I’m in FL region 4, and just relocated to Ft Lauderdale. Hallooo, anyone out there?

    1. Briana, you can always check at the CORAC site to find your regional coordinator’s email address. It’s in the “Get Involved” section. Write to Tom at region4 and coracusa.com Just remove the word “and” and close the spacing between the region4 and coracusa.com and you’ve got the complete address without it being able to be detected by any sort of bot from this page. (Edited to separate parts of address)

Question for @SteveBC and anyone else who might know:
Has anyone heard of any honest research or anecdotal evidence on whether the jab could cause ongoing/permanent DNA damage in a male, such that it would be passed on to his future children? Also, how would a person find out whether they have latent adverse effects if they are not currently showing any?

    1. Hello, AEH28. 🙂

The lipid mRNA particles do concentrate in the ovaries and testes, so there can certainly be damage to that one’s generation from the spike proteins made in those cells, and many other problems have arisen because of this. Unusual menstruation is one set of those symptoms. For these obvious symptoms, women appear much more sensitive than men. The spike protein can create auto-immune reactions against pregnancies, making some women unable to carry a fetus to term, and more. I would not be surprised if men can also become infertile but have no evidence of that specifically. And of course exposing delicate fetuses (via a vaccinated mother or even shedding from a vaccinated father in close contact) or infants (via a vaccinated mother’s milk or direct exposure to vaccinated adults) to spike proteins can maim or kill them. Some folks online have commented that they would advise that unvaccinated people not have sex with vaccinated people or even be in bed with or physically close to them if the vaccinations are relatively recent (a few months). For unvaccinated women, close contact even in an office environment is known to cause menstrual and pregnancy issues and other more subtle problems.

Whether the mRNA instructions reverse transcribe into nuclear DNA does not appear to be in doubt any more. In fact, it may start to happen within an hour of vaccination, as the lipid nanoparticles spread throughout the body and brain. This means that such infected cells can become permanent producers of spike proteins until the immune system takes them out or they get old and die.

However, I do not have any specific information showing beyond doubt that the cells in the ovaries or testes have that mRNA sequence placed into them for transmission to future generations. That is much harder to accomplish, though I would think males would be more susceptible to that than females are, due to how eggs and sperm develop. All I’ve seen on this issue has been speculation, nothing more.

To see if a person has underlying damage that has not made its way to obvious surface symptoms, I recommend the Covid test offered by Health Revival Partners (and they would also be much more aware of potential inter-generational transmission than I or know someone who would know). Their test costs somewhere around $500-$700, depending on the doctor you choose to advise you about your test results (the fee includes a one-hour consultation). Most of the tests are standard but several are helpful in spike damage diagnosis. They run all the results through their proprietary AI interpretation software, then do the consult. I did their main/normal test set a few years ago and found it very helpful. Here is the link to their page for spike testing:

      https://www.healthrevivalpartners.com/covid

I’m recommending it here for those who have been vaccinated but are without symptoms, as a way to either know there is damage or that there is no damage (because perhaps the person received a saline injection). However, I also and even more strongly recommend this test and consult for those who are vaccinated and have obvious symptoms, because HRP’s results and consult will be even more helpful in such a situation.

      I hope that helps, AEH28.

8/18/23 Edit: I have someone whose medical knowledge I admire who says he has not seen evidence that the mRNA can transfect into nuclear DNA. I have a PubMed article that says it does so, as quickly as 6 hours after inoculation, but that is an in vitro experiment. So I continue to believe it is likely but am a bit more willing to call this claim speculative at the moment. BTW, an additional complication is that some of the mRNA vaxxxes use plasmids to create the mRNA sequences and it turns out lots of those plasmids end up in the vaccine. I gather that *that* material is another way in which spike production could be transfected into a person’s DNA. I just found out that the NovaVax ingredients contain saponins which help molecules get through membranes, so that’s a complication I didn’t know about. These gifts just keep on giving, don’t they? Nonetheless, I need to make the transfection claim a bit less certain, for now, while I seek better information about it. In a way, though, this is one area I would like to be wrong, as transfection is not at all a good thing here. I’d be happy to find out it does not happen, but I do still believe it does.

Second Edit (8/22/23): Turns out I am probably wrong in believing that the spike protein or the mRNA sequences are readily reverse transcribed into nuclear DNA. I said above “Whether the mRNA instructions reverse transcribe (RT) into nuclear DNA does not appear to be in doubt any more.” The paper I relied on for this conclusion is considered to document a poorly set up experiment, and the person I’ve consulted on this has persuaded me to withdraw my claim. Normally, I don’t like to be wrong (LOL) but perhaps strangely, I am happy to be wrong on this point, as it means that RT is not happening or happening only very rarely, which avoids some deeply disturbing outcomes. For example, it pretty much eliminates the possibility of germ line alterations. Yes, spike proteins can and do circulate for months or possibly years in some people, but that source is likely to be a hidden or “occult” infection somewhere in the body. Also, yes, the mRNA particles can last for some time in the body, but most people who have been vaccinated and have long-term evidence of spike protein (which I thought was from reverse transcription) actually are instead likely to have a hidden Covid infection. The most likely place for such a hidden infection is the gut and can be dealt with via ozonation or UV blood irradiation methods. It appears that some small number may have the hidden infection in other tissues or organs, possibly even in the nerve cells of their body. To summarize, with the exception of the reverse transcription error I am correcting here, the other parts of the original comment above remain accurate. Finally, testing with HRP, as I recommend above, will help to identify the possibility of a hidden infection and ongoing damage, so I continue to recommend their tests. Of course, Dr Peter McCullough, Dr Kory and other doctors providing Covid care will be fully up to date with all these matters, so I recommend them as well for testing and treatment.

        1. Hi, Becky. 🙂

I would think at some point that autophagy does kick in to help the body get rid of spike-producing cells. However, the main way that these cells are handled seems to be by a macrophage and other immune elements destroying the cell that is displaying spike proteins on its outer membrane. This actually can cause a cascade of damage. First, whole spike proteins are freed from the collapsed/broken membrane to travel through the body in lymph or blood, and if they attach to another currently healthy cell, that spike can trigger the immune system to destroy *that* cell, and so on. In addition, the destruction of the first cell can also break up spike proteins into smaller pieces, or faulty or half-made spike proteins inside the cell can be freed, and the whole nasty mess goes careening through the body. Further, macrophages may “eat” a spike protein but be unable to digest or destroy it, and it will then take that spike protein and deposit it somewhere else in the body.

The spike is designed with many different sites in it that can do damage, including at least 2 or 3 sites of short sections which can bind to and transport lipopolysaccharides, which are highly toxic molecules released by bacteria and which the immune system very much dislikes. So overall, when the immune system kills a cell with one or more spike proteins on its outside membrane, the immune system itself ends up creating huge amounts of freed spikes and partial spikes, all of which can cause further damage down the line. And this mess ends up clogging the spleen, which appear to cause the spleen to package these nasty bits into exosomes and possibly vesicles which go out of the spleen to the lungs to be breathed out or up to the hair or head or upper body or skin to be gotten out of the body that way (I had a big problem with people shedding into me and having this happen to me), or worst of all, packaged and sent up the vagus nerve into the brain to cause various forms of dementia. So it’s important to realize that the body’s own defense mechanisms are in effect used against the body to spread even more damage throughout the body.

For those interested, the most effective (indeed the only) herb I have found that can detox and help the spleen clear itself is Sappanwood. Hawaii Pharm makes a glycerin-based Sappanwood extract that I have found very effective with a few weeks of use, and you can search for it on Amazon. By this time you may be able to find other Sappanwood products from other vendors.

But the main thing to take away from this is that, actually, you do *not* want the immune system to do its job. The better route is two-fold. (1) Use black seed oil or ivermectin and other substances that glom onto and jam the spike protein into ineffectiveness so it can be moved out of the body, and (2) use nattokinase or bromelain or similar to denature and wreck the spike protein or its dangerous bits until they are broken down so far that they are harmless. Anyone with circulating spike protein should do this so that the immune system does not need to do nearly as much work and therefore does not continue to create the damaging cascades of release of whole spikes or dangerous bits which can result in the destruction of more cells.

          1. Thank you, Steve. I have printed out the information and will add it to my CVD Care binder.

I heard about autophagy from the FLCCC. They added it to the list of possible aids in healing, especially long CVD. I’ve read on several keto/carnivore channels of people getting their taste and smell back after a longer term fast along with ridding the bodies of the brain fog.

I will say that I have found myself down a rabbit hole of learning more about metabolic health and fat adaptation. When I turned 50 in June, I found myself reading more about the larger need for protein and resistance training for lean muscle mass and bone density as a means for health and bone protection as we, esp. women, grow older. I then watched the video on the FLCCC with Dr. Tim Noakes about the importance of animal fat and lots of it! Next came Dr. Jason Fung (who the FLCCC had mentioned many months ago) and his books on the epidemics of Type 2 diabetes and obesity. I have to say, my mind has been blown away. The human body is amazing. I highly recommend Dr. Fung’s book: The Diabetes Code.

Currently, I am almost 8 weeks into a carnivore diet. I’m curious about fat adaptation and fasting. I have been able to completely wean off of all sugar and have been able to fast longer than I ever thought possible. My body no longer hurts, energy level is even which has helped me stay calm throughout the day and be much more patient as stressful situations occur. So many more benefits. I see my doctor in early October, just about the 90 day mark. Curious as to my bloodwork.

All of this has been with being animal based. No special foods, etc. Please note: I an NOT one of those people that thinks plants are killing people! Nor am I eating ribeyes everyday. Eating on a budget. But what I have learned from many of these doctors is that every single one of us is metabolically different. What is okay for one person to eat, might not be for another. I know that grain is not my friend, BUT fermented grain is easier. Either way, I have issues with being addicted to food and this rabbit hole has shown me clearly that the Standard American Diet is slowly killing us.

Not knowing what food situations will be like in the future during the Storm, I have feared not having enough to eat, especially for my children. We do have food put away along with garden seeds. I have been giving my kids more high protein, high fat, nutrient dense breakfasts and lunches and have found they no longer ask for snacks. Everything I am learning goes so against what we have been told for the last 100 years about food.

Not sure if this info might help anyone here. I have often thought about those with chronic disease during the Storm and those that depend on medicines. If you have Type 2 diabetes, please read Dr. Fung’s book. Type 2 diabetes can be reversed. Many who have done the carnivore diet (which drastically reduces inflammation in the body) have come off meds completely and healed. Just my 2 cents….

God Bless everyone here – praying for everyone!

            1. Thanks for this thoughtful reflection, Becky. It’s a vast topic with a plethora of tentacles. Many are they who have been and are continually awakening, as you have, to the misinformation and lies peddled through our institutions of medicine. I remember that your husband is an MD and I’ll bet he can attest to what many of my friends in the medical world have expressed: The mode of medical training for docs has been to tend to a patient by doing a work up with tests, diagnose and, then, prescribe the “right” medicine(s). Toss in the government-demanded protocols if a doc or hospital wish to be remunerated for services and we have the mess we do with most doctors having long abandoned the practice of medicine as in days of yore when more problem-solving was done to meet the needs of the unique person before the doctor. Add to this, the reality that most docs get one semester of nutrition training in medical school. Further, there’s evidence that the construction of the food pyramid of the 70’s was heavily influenced by the Kellogg Company (grains anyone?) and the government has long been subsidizing grain companies making processed simple carbohydrates very affordable. Add to that the research and development that has been done to add lots of sodium, hidden sugars and unhealthy fats to processed foods so that they became addictive by intent.

I discovered Dr. Fung’s seminal work about the time his, Obesity Code, book was released. It has been recommended by our CORAC H&W Committee. Another great doc doing the work of calling his colleagues to attention is Dr. Chris Palmer, a psychiatrist. His amazing book, Brain Energy, is another important read as he acknowledges the turnaround by many, many of his patients when they leave behind the Standard American Diet – truly SAD and brimming with processed foods – and begin to lean into keto eating with its healthy fats and whole foods. He is ever sharing lots of info on his Twitter (X) page. The gut-brain connection is real and improving the body’s gut microbiome is foundational to every body system being able to chug along in harmony with all systems. Further, Dr. Chris is carrying the message that most of his patients have no real improvement on the medications being used. That said, some DO need such meds. Still, they are huuuuuugely over-prescribed without any real investigation into all the factors which impact mental health.

              1. Type 2 diabetes and obesity has exploded since the 1970s. Very much tied to the changes in the food pyramid. Dr. Fung’s book was great at explaining the metabolic details in a simple way.

I have my eye on Dr. Tim Noakes new book that just came out. It is about 400+ pages with a hefty price tag, but it has, I believe, over 60 medical/health contributors discussing everything metabolic health for each organ group.

You mentioned brain health: some are calling dementia/Alzheimers the new Type 3 diabetes. I didn’t realize that 60% of our brain is made up of cholesterol. If so, why do we limit our fat intake? Shouldn’t we be feeding our brain?

I told my husband, who did think I was a bit crazy for switching to carnivore, that for now, I’m happy to be a guinea pig. I plan to go to my doc in October and give all the blood for all the tests. Will my cholesterol which has always been considered “perfect” have changed? Maybe, but the question I wonder is will my doctor be willing to walk with me in trying to figure out the why’s and not just turn to a pill. We will see.

Absolutely, I thank God for medicine! We had to epi my little one with the peanut allergy a few weeks ago because he got hit 3 times by a yellow jackets. Thank God for epinephrine!

I could go on and on, sorry! What has impressed me so much about these doctors who have and are waking up is their honest admittance they may have and did harm/harmed their patients by treating them the way they were trained to. Their humility in admitting this and their about face, many losing their jobs, licenses, colleagues has got to be unbelievably hard. We need to pray for doctors. Many are captured, but there are still so many who truly want to help and do the right thing. God Bless!

                1. All good stuff, Becky, and a good reminder that there is a place for good medicine from the current system. I do realize that many medical people are a product of these times and how their training shaped them. God’s Blessings be upon you and on the changes you strive to make.

                2. Ah, Becky, yes, awake doctors have the chance to become healers. A very good outcome.

I don’t know what your cholesterol level is when you say “perfect” but if it’s compared to current guidelines (set by Big Pharma to sell more statins), it’s possible that it is actually too low. The proper range for a 50yo woman is more like 190-280, with the optimum around 225. We need cholesterol. One reason it goes “high” is due to low Vitamin D3. There are other reasons, like inflammation (cholesterol is an anti-inflammatory). The use of statins to lower cholesterol level below 190 is likely to be damaging. I will *never* use a statin to lower cholesterol. Instead, I raise D3 to 80-100 and lower inflammation as much as I reasonably can and also take a little Berberine each night.

I also think the “Alzheimer’s as Type 3 Diabetes” is somewhat helpful as a way to look at dementia. For anyone with dementia or who wants to avoid it, the only effective way I know to prevent or ameliorate it has been developed by Dr Dale Bredesen. His method does not focus particularly on keeping sugar in the brain down, though he does like the keto diet. If a person fixes his diet as I mention in another comment close by, the probability of getting Alzheimer’s or other dementia will probably be lowered. However, there are many other factors that need to be determined and dealt with to prevent dementia from arising or to heal a case that is developing.

Bredesen has completed clinical trials that prove his method has those factors properly handled and is quite effective. He is training doctors all over the country on how to use his ReCODE method. His site is:

You can find information on his approach and also find a practitioner near you or available over the internet. 🙂

            2. Becky! This sounds great. 🙂

You are definitely on the right track.

Fasting turns out to be a key part of dealing with Covid and should pretty much always be used if a person starts getting symptoms. Yes, it triggers more efficient autophagy and denies sugar to the virus as it tries to replicate.

Over time, though, what I found was that using a carnivore or even a keto diet worked for me for a little while, but I found I needed a lot of carbs. I’m metabolically flexible and thin, so I benefit from time-restricted eating but need carbs for energy.

Mercola has been working with Georgi Dinkov and the legacy of someone named Ray Peat. It turns out that once you become metabolically flexible, you need to add carbs back into your diet or your metabolism will slow down. You want a high metabolism, which requires efficient energy generation in your mitochondria *and* to maintain and even build lean muscle mass.

People who are overweight and have higher than optimal blood sugar first do the carnivore or keto diet for a few months until they get metabolically flexible, which as far as I can tell simply means being able to fast comfortably for at least 12 and better, up to 16 hours daily (say from finishing dinner at 7 pm and fasting until breakfast the next day at 8 or 10 am) and eating 1-2 meals in the remaining 8-12 hours. When a person can do that comfortably and if they are overweight, then they should shift to a low-*fat* diet until they have reached their target weight. When you eat less fat, you have to eat more carbs, as protein intake stays about the same all the time.

The reason for that is that a person’s body normally cannot eat more than 30% of the diet in fat when metabolically flexible. If they do, then their body shifts to a less efficient way of using sugar and fat. It shifts to burning fat in the mitochondria and to fermentation of the glucose. That shifts them to storing fat and carbs as fat in fat cells and spilling sugar into the blood. It makes it look like the person has T2 diabetes due to eating too many carbs, but it’s actually because of this metabolic shift and eating too much fat. Weird, huh?

So once the person can comfortably use Time-Restricted Eating (TRE) and has become metabolically flexible, they can begin to burn off fat but only if they eat a low *fat* diet or they will jam themselves up again.

Generally, people can only eat up to but not more than 30% of their diet as fat without forcing this switch to inefficient fat burning and glucose fermentation. So once metabolically flexible, the person needs to switch to a low fat diet so that the fat constantly being slowly released from their fat cells can be burned and the body is still less than 30% of fat being fed to the mitochondria. For some overweight people, that level of fat intake in the diet may need to be 20%, while in others it might be 10%. You figure this out by eating about 15% of the diet as protein (about 1 gram protein per kilogram of non-bone weight), then say 20% fat and the rest as carbs and seeing if you start to lose weight. If not, you go down to 10% fat, at which point you should begin to lose weight without restricting calories in a “diet”.

That sounds counter to what we’ve been taught, but when you lower the fat intake to 20% or 15% or 10% and you start losing weight without restricting calories, you know you have the right level of dietary intake of fat that allows the fat from your fat cells to leak out and be burned efficiently.

Once you reach your target weight, you still eat 15% as protein and then about 25-30% as fat and the rest as carbs (good carbs, not processed ones). Then the person should be able to maintain proper weight. Particularly if they exercise at least moderately on a regular basis to maintain or build up lean muscle mass.

If you want to find out how much of fats, protein or carbs you’re actually eating, you can use cronometer.com/mercola to input the foods you’re eating to find out your mix. That helps you tune your intake of macro-ingredients at each of these stages and also choose better foods.

There are additional issues that can add to health improvement, but this is the key to getting to a healthy weight and metabolism. Then a person can see what symptoms remain and tailor diet and supplements to resolve those problems. For example, if a person still has joint issues, then certain foods that are high in oxalates can be removed from the diet for a while to see if the joint issues resolve. Or they can take anti-inflammatory supplements that not only reduce pain but also can help a person lose more weight (inflammation can cause weight gain). Or figure out if they are allergic or sensitive to any specific food and remove that food. And so on.

But the main target to aim for is to eat so as to recover and maintain the efficiency of one’s mitochondria so that energy gets created in them as efficiently as possible and with as few oxidative or inflammatory effects as possible. And that turns out to be a three-stage process for overweight, metabolically inflexible people: (1) a carnivore or keto diet until able to use TRE comfortably, then (2) continuing TRE but switching to a low-fat diet so that the body can comfortably lose weight by burning both dietary and body fat at the same time within the overall 30% limit on fat, and (3) once at target weight, maintaining TRE and eating 25-30% fat, 15% protein, and the rest as good carbs (all measured in grams or ounces of macro item, not calories provided by that item). And exercising to at least maintain and, preferably, build lean muscle mass throughout that process. Mercola.com is covering this regularly.

I think the 30% limit on dietary fat is due to the fact that some tissues, like heart tissue or like muscle tissue at rest, prefer to burn ketones (fats) while most organs, like the brain in particular, like to burn glucose. So you need to eat a certain amount of fat to feed the heart and resting muscles – but that is a fairly steady-state demand. Same for protein, which is a pretty steady-state demand, depending on your level of activity/exercise. That’s why you set the protein intake first (generally about 15%) and then set the fat intake (up to but not above 30%) and finish by filling out the rest of your intake with high-quality carbs as the “plug number.” Some people may find they do better when they fix protein and fat intake by grams (an absolute measure) rather than by percentage of intake (a relative measure), but in both cases, the carb intake is determined simply by demand for energy leading to a natural demand for food high in carbs.

This overall understanding helped me figure out why I went through Step 1 so fast and had to switch to eating a lot of carbs. I needed Step 1 for a couple of months to establish the TRE pattern, but I soon found I couldn’t continue low-carb. I needed to go right to Step 3 and up my carbs, because I’m thin and needed to keep from losing weight. And I also started exercising, which has helped a lot.

        1. Yes, Mick, OK. I do recommend for CORAC’s sake if not my own or yours as the article’s author that you put in a disclaimer that says that I am not a doctor and that the reader should not take my comments as sure things unless and until they do their own research and verify – or disprove – my statements for themselves. CORAC doesn’t need to be the subject of any investigation as to them giving out a non-doctor’s remarks as medical advice. Otherwise, it pretty much stands on its own, and the HRP recommendation will get people into good hands for testing and advice. 🙂

Edit (8/22/23): Because I erred in the original comment about reverse transcription, I have asked Mick not to publish this comment on CORAC after all, at least not without the edits included. Please read the original comment above, being sure to read the two Edits I have added to that comment.

        1. SJWTB, please see my edit in the original comment I put up. J&J would seem to be less likely to transfect, given it uses an adenovirus delivery mechanism. However, it uses DNA directly to make the cells make the spike protein, so I would guess transfection is perhaps possible with it as well and more directly. Note that the spike protein has at least 2 or 3 segments that are drawn from HIV, and HIV is (I believe) capable of transfection, so perhaps that increases the likelihood of any mRNA or vDNA vaxxxes to transfect. I must say that as soon as I understood how the mRNA vaxxxes work (and the vDNA ones, as well), my *immediate* assumption was that the mRNA or vDNA would transfect to some degree, simply because we were talking about trillions of lipid nanoparticles or quadrillions of internally made spike proteins – the probabilities might be low but the numbers of opportunities were/are astronomical. However, this is getting pretty far out for my knowledge and has to be viewed speculatively. I think the J&J vaxxx is perhaps the best one, but “best” of a bad bunch is not saying much. I do know its published formula, and it is one of the cleanest vaccine formulas, possibly the cleanest, I’ve ever seen. However, other C19 vaxxxes have production issues that produce contaminants not listed on their ingredients list, and without knowing how the J&J vaxxx is produced, I can’t tell if it is vulnerable to large-scale contamination by, say, the plasmids that contaminate the Pfizer vaxxx and help make the Pfizer vaccine even more dangerous than its open formula indicates. Because of its clean formula, if I absolutely had to take a C19 vaxxx, I think I would take the J&J vaxxx and avoid the mRNA vaxxxes and the NovaVax. But all of them should be avoided.

Edit (8/22/23): I have edited my original comment above to correct my statement about the likelihood of reverse transcription (RT) occurring. As I state there, someone I follow online has persuaded me that the original study this claim is based on was poorly done. Please ignore the statements in this comment where I state that RT is likely. Though it might be happening in a few people, and the odds certainly seem to favor its occurrence, no researchers yet have conclusively proved that RT is actually happening. I’m glad to be wrong on this claim. The rest of this comment about the vaxxxes and about the J&J vaxxx in particular remain unchanged.

My poor granddaughter and her friends (brainwashed and forced at college) all ended up with PMS and different symptoms remaining with their monthly cycles. Will those killing and maiming ever be held accountable?!

            1. Annie W, I’m happy to hear my material has been helpful, but I’m sorry to hear of your granddaughter and her friends. I do believe those who did this will be held accountable at some point. The nearer-term item I’d like to see is the release of the information about C19 and the vaxxx. I just heard today that the various mRNA vaxxx manufacturers were given the vaxxx design and production instructions in early 2020. Someone else did all the research and development work and just handed the cookbook recipe to Pfizer, Moderna, etc. So all the horn-tooting that Pfizer has been doing, saying it was their AI software that enabled them to develop their vaxxxine so quickly is all hype, yet another pack of lies. I think we can all guess now where the cookbook recipe came from and what entities developed it.

        1. Ha, Charlie! Thus far the Hello Kitty pistol is merely a dream. But our 30th anniversary is in 2 years, and I have put my husband on notice that there is only one item on my gift wishlist: a pink Glock 17 with Hello Kitty on the grips. I don’t need no stinkin’ cruise or a string of pearls or a huge rock; I just want me a Hello Kitty Glock. (P.S. Anthony, who is 13 now, is both mystified and annoyed by my love of all things Hello Kitty; he sees it as a contradiction.) 🙂

I saw a meme of an old lady holding a gun on an intruder, saying, “While we wait for the police, let’s talk about Jesus a while.” I asked Olive when she sat for the photo. She laughed and said she sure would have if she had been asked. I think you and she would have gotten along just fine.

Wait….four things😂 1) I’m so relieved you are ok!!! I was very worried what was taking you so long to post and I almost reached out to Beckita but just kept lighting candles 🕯️ for you and trusted God to take good care of you!🥰🙏✝️. I pretty much figured God knows we need our Sherpa for these transitional times and so you would be just fine! 2) Your granddaughter is so absolutely beautiful!!! I love the sweet pictures of you and she! I know what you’re feeling when you’re with grandchildren! Besides being with God, there are absolutely no better company on earth to spend time with!🥰 3) I absolutely LOVE your talk voice!!! I bet everyone here does too!!! You’re way too hard on yourself good buddy! Your voice is calming, clear and concise! I especially like it when you raise your voice in praise to God! It’s heartening! 4) As we go deeper into the fullness of the storm, come what may; wether or not Mike and I make it through, I want to again thank you for teaching all of us to acknowledge God, take the next right step and be a sign of hope to those whom God puts in our path!!! My oh my what a wonderful journey we’ve all traveled together!!! I hope and pray Our Lady changes the hearts and minds of many many souls in the panic and transitions that are soon to come! 2. I’m jealous, Charlie. My husband is a redhead. His brothers are redheads. His mother was a redhead. There is also red hair on my side of the family, a few generations back. But do I get a single child with red hair? Nope! So now I’m praying for redheaded grandchildren. (My daughter is currently hanging out with a nice young man with flaming red hair; should their friendship eventually lead to marriage, then maybe my prayers will be answered.)

        1. Be careful what you ask for. My maternal grandmother, who only had daughters, prayed intently that I would be a boy. I was, of course…but so were the next three children my parents had. Still, I can’t complain. Having seven out of eight grandkids with red or reddish hair is kind of cool.

        2. Interestingly, two hair colors can be present at the same time and since red is not as dominant a color as black or dark brown it can be hidden by these colors. So your children may just be stealth red-heads Mick.
Since red hair is a recessive gene it takes both parents carrying the gene to produce redheads.
My wife is a redhead but none of our seven children where red haired. Now that we have 28 grandchildren about 10 are redheads and none of my kids spouses are red haired either!

  12. “I do not follow comforting bromides that ignore large swaths of Scripture and the Magisterium. I want every Priest and Bishop I encounter to know that if he stands boldly for Scripture and the Magisterium, I will stand boldly and publicly with him, wherever the attacks may come from.”
    (CJ)

“Over the past few years, certain words, for example, ‘pastoral,’ ‘mercy,’ ‘listening,’ ‘discernment,’ ‘accompaniment,’ and ‘integration’ have been applied to the Church in a kind of magical way, that is, without clear definition but as the slogans of an ideology replacing what is irreplaceable for us: the constant doctrine and discipline of the Church… The perspective of eternal life is eclipsed in favor of a kind of popular view of the Church in which all should feel ‘at home,’ even if their daily living is an open contradiction to the truth and love of Christ.”
    Cardinal Raymond Burke

“The basis of the Church is the word of God as a revelation … not our strange reflections. As the Church’s one and only indivisible magisterium, the pope and the bishops in union with him carry the gravest responsibility that no ambiguous sign or unclear teaching comes from them, confusing the faithful or lulling them into a false sense of security.”
    Cardinal Gerhard Müller,

“Conscience is not an independent and exclusive capacity to decide what is good and what is evil, Nor is it bargaining with God as Augustine once did: “Give me chastity and continence, but not just yet! Such understanding never means compromising and falsifying the standard of good and evil in order to adapt it to particular circumstances. It is quite human for the sinner to acknowledge his weakness and to ask mercy for his failings; what is unacceptable is the attitude of one who makes his own weakness the criterion of the truth about the good, so that he can feel self-justified, without even the need to have recourse to God and his mercy.

  14. “…that rattlesnakes bite and scorpions sting.” I’ve wondered, on occasion, why fangs, stingers and venom exist in the world, but it doesn’t change the fact that they exist. Been stomping around the desert for over 40 years (virtually every day), and have experienced 90% of my rattler encounters in only the past few years. Probably due to the excessive winter rains followed by parch-dry summers. Who knows… but it only amounts to maybe a half dozen encounters.

On the other hand, I know a fella who encounters rattlers on nearly every outing. So much that he expects it like clockwork. Is the guy more aware and observant than I? Hardly. He’s probably the most distracted guy I know… always yammering away on hikes and obsessing about all sorts of things. Like rattlers.

Seems to me that whatever you’re focused on, you’re eventually going to run into headlong.

Been thinking about the desert critters I encounter the past couple of days, from the common to the rare, and everything in between. Jogging a couple of days ago I caught a whiff of movement, followed by the slightest twig ruffling under some scrub. Slightly veered that way to have a look and noticed a pair of common cottontails emerging, a pair of wary doves in the foreground, and something else hiding in the shadows:

That dark and shadowy shape, the “trickster” in Navajo lore, may conjure all sorts of phantasms in the mind if you’re not used to such encounters. Can you see him? Well, I likely spooked him, maybe saving at least a cottontail or dove from ending up on the lunch menu. Here he is skulking away across the street. Not so impressive in the light, this scrawny ‘yot is more or less doing what he’s wired to do, fangs and all.

Yeah, he shot me that look, while the cottontails just looked at me with those aware, but peaceful eyes. Shoot, I was barely out of the neighborhood at this point, just getting ready to head into open desert where I’d encounter much of the usual. Quail with families in tow, more cottontails and jacks, munks, ground and rock squirrels, etc. Had me wondering if I would see roadrunner, which tends to rare depending on the season.

Sure enough, ran into this very one a few blocks later. Can you spot it?

Most often these guys are kicking up dust along the ground, but occasionally will take to flight. Maybe best of all, they’re lizard and snake killers. A handful of times in all these years I’ve had the good fortune to witness a roadrunner take a snake. Once, a furious battle between a determined roadrunner and a full grown Mojave rattler many times its size. In the end, that roadrunner turned my way, the limp rattler’s tail dangling from its beak. Can’t even describe what that look consisted of. Maybe just the look of a natural born snake killer having accomplished exactly what God designed it to do. A rare thing, at least as far as what I’ve encountered.

Here’s a better look at a roadrunner, and I share it because it’s likely a one-off for me in this lifetime. Not sure why, but this fella was extremely docile and maybe curious enough to come in for a close encounter with me, go eyeball to eyeball, and give me a better look. Isn’t it a beauty?!

Oh, there are plenty of other exotic and rare critters out here in the desert, and I’ve seen them all, but it’s typically the common ones that give me the most comfort. Maybe it’s the gentle, curious, but aware eyes as they stop for a look.

This one in particular. Here’s a rock squirrel that could fit in my boot with plenty of room to spare, sizing me up. Might seem a little standoffish at first glance, but I see a certain amount of mirth in those eyes. Heck, he might even be fixin’ to crack a joke. OK, maybe a deadpan joke.

    1. Thanks for this beautiful reflection, MP. Alas, I have never seen a roadrunner in person before. Plenty of coyotes, though…once even skulking around the inner city in Chicago.

    Living Without Fear
We are in the midst of a great storm. It is a storm that, I believe, will become the greatest in human history before it is finished. The storm will not be forever, but no one who gets through it will ever forget it. Nor will they ever forget their gratitude for going through it.
The evening after Jesus fed the multitude, a great storm rose up on the Sea of Galilee. The disciples were trying to weather the storm in their boat when, in the darkness, they saw Jesus walking towards them. They were terrified, thinking that Jesus was some terrible ghost come to torment them. Then He called out to them. All were amazed, but Peter asked that, if it really was Jesus, the Lord bid him come, also walking on the water. So Jesus bade him come. Things went well (I resist the temptation to say swimmingly) until Peter got scared of the howling winds and boiling waves around him. Then he began to sink. Jesus grabbed hold of Peter and pulled him back up. Together, they got back into the boat. Then Jesus ordered the storm to cease – and it did. They rowed to the other side in calm waters.
This story is worth deep contemplation, for in it is all we need to know to weather the storm we find ourselves in. The disciples did not have to take the boat to get to the other shore; they could have walked around. But walking that route would have been long and slow. So even though the weather was threatening, they chose the shortcut of the water crossing.
How many shortcuts has humanity chosen this last century? Rather than defend the faith and the faithful with fortitude and charity, we have routinely compromised on foundational principles because we did not want any trouble. I’ve done it, you’ve done it. We all know it. That is why, in the Confiteor, we ask forgiveness for the things we have done and the things we have failed to do.
When the storm rises up, the trouble we sought to avoid catches up with us, almost always with greater force than if we had taken the trouble to act well and prudently in the first place.
When the storm comes, even if we repent of the folly that drew us into it rather than taking the steadier but harder way, it does not relieve us of our obligation to row vigorously where we are. The disciples were not allowed to just say, “Oops, we goofed,” and then wait for the Lord to magically pull their boat to the other shore for them. They had gotten so turned around they did not even know where Jesus was – or if He even knew the dire straits they were in. They had to keep rowing.
If they did not know where Jesus was, He knew where they were. The Lord did not come walking across the sea because He wanted a shortcut. He came because He knew the disciples had gotten themselves into yet another fine mess. I sometimes wonder if Jesus was amused at the disciples’ initial terror at the sight of their approaching salvation. We so eagerly go chasing after what will destroy us and recoil from what will save us, all the while boasting of our mighty prowess.
The Lord does love us, thanks be to God, but I think it must often be with the amused affection a man might have for a litter of lively puppies – and their comical pratfalls. We lack the wit to reliably discern between salvation and destruction and yet are proud in our boasts.
Once the disciples recognize Jesus, they calm, but are still filled with frightened wonder at the Man. They knew He was a good teacher and gentle guide, but this is a revelation of raw, primal power. With characteristic boldness (sometimes brashness).
Peter asks the Lord to bid him come. As Peter begins walking on the sea, it becomes clear that the Lord’s primal power extends to whoever He wills it to. Ah, but in the midst of his walk, Peter notices anew how terribly violent the winds and the waves are. Fear grips him and he begins to sink. The Lord reaches out to him and Peter is saved.
How often, despite our profession of trust in God, do the winds and waves around us cause us to sink into fear and, even, despair? Our trust must be greater than this. Trust means keeping our eyes on Jesus, our hearts with Him, and then accepting whatever He allows after this, knowing that it is for our good or that of others to build up the only Kingdom that matters.
After Jesus and Peter climb back into the boat, the Lord commands the sea to calm – and it does. He demonstrates to His disciples that He does, indeed, hold primal power over all things, natural and supernatural. But even though the sea is calmed, Jesus does not pull them to the other shore. They must keep rowing, even if it is a lot easier and calmer now.
It is not our mighty prowess that will carry us through this storm. Without Christ, we can spend ourselves rowing and get nowhere, in danger of capsizing at each moment. With Him, all things are possible. Once we entrust our hearts to Him, be aware of the wind and waves, but do not be distracted by them. They have no power over you save what He allows.
Entrust your heart to Jesus, keep your eyes on Him, and keep rowing.

  16. Almost all poison and venom in reptiles and invertebrates is either for obtaining prey/defense or both.
Most animals that are prey/predator or accidentally invenomated by them have developed a bit of an immunity to the toxins they produce which has caused these toxins to “evolve” by becoming quite the poly cocktail of proteins in order to get around this immunity through a genetic tug-of-war between species. Interestingly, many venomous animals don’t even try to use venom as a defense for some of their top predators. Rattlesnake will hide their heads when encountering indigo or kingsnakes but strike wildly at other predators like canines. Instinctively they know what defense to use that is most effective brought about by genetic adaptations that survived with individuals that lived to pass this behavioral gene on to their progeny.
And this behavioral evolution is visibly ongoing.
In the past, the fer-de-lance viper of Central and South America was infamous for its biting people just walking/working in banana plantations and this almost always ended with a decapitated snake. This has lead to the surviving vipers now laying motionless and being non aggressive in order to avoid the machete. In Trinidad, the introduction of the Asian mongoose drove some species into the trees for survival.

  19. After I shared this piece with a friend, he wrote back with this image:

Perhaps you have seen it already, Charlie. My friend, a professed Brother, shared this as well: All roads lead to France….Indeed the ‘Vercingetorix’ imagery that Charlie has offered for reflection is prescient……importantly the artist, a 19th century Frenchman, renown for his paintings of Saint Joan of Arc was himself a soldier. Notably his own son was preparing for the Holy Priesthood until he was wounded in WWI and died.

  20. Does anyone know a reliable site of integrity where one can donate to people of Maui to help with needs after the devastating fire?

    1. Sr. Bear posted this in a CORAC group: While our prayer group member suggested donating to an individual (her son?), I would feel more comfortable donating to a charity that has built-in accounting practices and oversight and is actively working in Hawaii. I found online this link to a page of the Diocese of Honolulu’s website, enabling people to donate directly for the Church’s efforts in Maui: https://www.catholichawaii.org/news-events/news-articles/2023/august/811-bishops-message-for-the-maui-wildfires/

  25. You know, the federal response to the Maui situation has been slow and inept. Also the response from local authorities. The Prez. said “no comment” when asked about the tragedy. (Has ANY Prez. ever been so cold to the American people when they have been facing extreme tragedy????? ) And yet the Prez. sends gazillons of dollars to the war in Ukr. Everything is certainly upside down. A dystopian nightmare. There are certainly many, many good reasons to have created CORAC.

  29. Someone sent me a care package that I received last night. It had many items including a special oil collected from the roses brought down from heaven from St. Raphael. But most importantly, a book. This book I thought could only be written from someone in this group. If it not I would be VERY surprised. If it is not , has anyone Heard of this book? It’s called BIG Q little Q . I am in chapter 5 this morning and I can’t put it down despite my work responsibilities. I’d like to make a suggestion that everyone read it. It puts down in text everything I’ve learned here and elsewhere since 2015. Again I say , It’s going to be glorious!

    1. The book is not written by anyone in this community, JoA. It’s by “A Friend of Medjugorje” who is is the founder and President of Caritas of Birmingham, Terry Colafrancesco. Big and serious problems with this guy exist, not the least of which is that he has been and continues to be at odds with his local Bishop. It’s so serious that links to him and his association have been banned from this site. Mr. Colafrancesco is not interested in being under legitimate Church authority. Many are the former members of Caritas who have come forth to speak of the serious problems in the organization due to the founder’s tactics. Since you’ve found solace in the book, I would say chew on what’s valuable, but be careful so as to spit out the bones. I would also be very careful about hyper-dwelling on how it’s going to be glorious. That’s not at all to negate God’s Glory which will reign. It’s to focus us on the work which God has called us to in this period of time as the effusion of His purifying grace pours forth. How often Charlie has counseled us to “gird our loins.” That biblical phrase was used to alert people that very difficult challenges were afoot. Charlie has further noted that there is a LOT of wood to chop. God is looking for partners who will rise and co-create the glorious New Beginning with Him. This is why our hearts are pressed to the blood, sweat and tears of living what is promoted at CORAC. I write these reminders because we need a mindset which will find us rising to demands of the work with the Lord in real time, rather than crumbling in a paralysis of fear when the terrible things to come are upon us. God bless, JoA.

  31. This article has a different look at Robert Kennedy Jr. It’s worth a read. It also speaks of the vacuous nonsense we are seeing all around us.

    Here’s a quote:
“Here, concrete reality fades into the background for the sake of anti-anticommunism. When your father and uncle are murdered by communists, and you insist on blaming anticommunists, the resulting falsification of reality suggests a profound inversion of the soul.”

“…a profound inversion of the soul” …. sounds like what is going on in the world.
