Kevin McCarthy, the man who is almost certain to be the next Speaker of the House, told the Federalist in an interview that people should not expect impeachments as he intends to make this a time for “healing.” If so, McCarthy will learn to his sorrow that impeachment for actual grievous offenses is NOT the same thing as manufactured impeachments for rank partisanship.

If he thinks the proper thing to do with people who have stolen some of our lives and livelihoods, who have smeared and cancelled us, and who have jailed many of us is to treat them as valued colleagues I will take him at his word – that he is their colleague and not mine. Leftist officials have become the equivalent of political serial killers. You do not deal with serial killers by letting bygones be bygones as long as they don’t kill while you are in charge. They MUST be held to account. All officials who have oppressed innocent people must lose their jobs. Many should go to prison.

Establishment Republicans are vastly misreading the mood of the electorate. Ordinary people are in furious rage over the abuses visited on us these last few years. Real rage – not the manufactured kind the left mounts as a sort of exaggerated petulance for not getting their way. We know that if they are not held to account they will just double down harder as soon as they get a fresh chance. The consequences of their serial politicized attacks on ordinary people must be severe enough that they are finished and that aspiring tyrants will not dare to try such tactics again. Otherwise, the leftist brownshirts are not defeated, just delayed. The rage at the vicious partisan abuse of power against ordinary people is what is fueling what will be a red tsunami. If the establishment Republicans use that as an opportunity to let bygones be bygones with the people who have battered us, the quake that is this election will seem to be a light warm-up for what is in store for those impotent establishment Republicans. And I will be among those leading the charge against them.

I think this election may serve to be an extinction level event for what the Democrats have become. Then, if the country manages to survive that long, existing Republicans and some rational Democrats will divide into new parties – one that works to serve people while respecting and protecting their rights and another self-serving group of insiders that specializes in saying nice things while feathering their own nests with more power, perks and money. But the course McCarthy outlines is not one that will heal: it is one that will turn the rage that fuels this election into raw, white-hot fury against the people who gained power and did nothing to defend us.

The interregnum between November 8, election day, and January 3, when the new Congress is sworn in, will be perhaps the most dangerous time in American history. Democrats have made power their god. They will not just be furious at losing it; they will be terrified that the malignant way they have abused it puts them in real jeopardy of going to prison for those abuses. The only way to hold onto power for them will be to openly seize it by declaring Martial Law or setting up some sort of false flag attack against America – or even sitting on their hands while tacitly inviting a real attack. Whatever crisis the left manufactures to try to forestall the repudiation they get in the next few weeks, we cannot let it stand. I have spoken to some high-ranking officers in a couple of State Law Enforcement agencies. Some have been quietly preparing for a surprisingly long time. One told me bluntly that if the feds declare Martial Law, they have decided that is the trigger that a new civil war has begun and they will defend their citizens from a predatory federal government. I concur.

By the way, here is my final prediction for this election cycle. I remain convinced that the Republicans will pick up an historic 73 seats in the House, but I am dialing back to say that they will hold 54 seats in the Senate. It certainly could be more, but 54 is the floor in the Senate. This, of course, assumes that the feds do not mount openly violent, coercive tactics such as Martial Law or a mass attack before the election.

We have just started our fall fundraising campaign. Some of you have been extraordinarily generous with your money. I ask you to help us out here again. I am about $4,000 short of the bills I need to pay for next month – and I have to start paying them later this week.

Over the last year and a half we have gotten help to a lot of those stricken with Covid who could not get effective help from their local medical establishments. When the hurricane hit earlier this month, we had 15 shelters already in place, with food and medical supplies well stocked. This is because of the extraordinary commitment and personal generosity of so many CORAC members across the country who are determined that we will be practical signs of hope to all around us in crisis times and in quiet times. I am profoundly grateful to all of you who give so much from your time and your resources to help knit together anew a healthy social fabric.

I’ll be blunt with you: it is a lot easier for me to ask you for your time and talent than to ask for your money – but time, talent and money are the three legs of the stool we have mounted. Even with the Bidenflation, we still generally keep our expenses below $10,000 per month, including technical services, website maintenance, banking, legal and accounting fees – and my extensive travel, too. (Ha, I drive around the country in a 2002 Subaru with 281,000 miles on it. I’m praying to get a million miles out of it.) As president of CORAC, I am authorized for $2,000 a month – but I never take more than a small fraction. This year, I am paid through June. I am all in for the work before us.

Go check out the website. We offer resources, tutorials and classes – all with no charge. Nobody is denied any of the benefits CORAC offers because they can’t afford it. I have consistently given half my authorized fee each year by not taking it in the first place – and I basically live poverty (well, my friends are extraordinarily kind to me). But CORAC is the primary means by which we are going to renew the face and faith of the world under God – and has already become a sheltering refuge to thousands as faith, family and freedom are under ever greater assault in these dark times.

I would be very happy if we could raise $30,000. That way, I wouldn’t have to worry so much about money until after the first of the year. I had the wonderful opportunity of speaking in Pittsburgh a week ago, and then in Morristown, New Jersey this week. It was the first time I had ever held a public meeting in Pittsburgh, but I had a few friends and familiar faces there. Our dear friend, Rich DiClaudio provided the venue for the meeting. Even though we have spoken and communicated with each other for years, it was the first time we ever met face to face. A lovely young mother, Jessica Guenther, organized the event. She had hosted me in Washington, D.C. a few years back. But being smart, she figured that was no place to raise young kids. I had dinner with our commenter, Dolordee, and her wonderful big family. What a lively, wonderful evening it was!

In Morristown, Paul Rumley had a lively group assembled at the Hyatt Regency. We had a lunch between the talk and the Q and A that included pasta with great meatballs, sausages and red sauce. You know, New Jersey gets a bad rap – and ribbing for calling itself the Garden State. But frankly, outside of Newark, it is. Morristown is where George Washington had his winter quarters during the Revolutionary War. And frankly, I just love Italians. Growing up, an Italian family was almost a second family to me. A few weeks ago I had dinner with Region 7 Coordinator Terri Scardino, whose husband Rick is part of that second family I spoke of growing up. Terri asked me if I had any dietary needs, that she thought she remembered me telling her I couldn’t eat red sauce anymore. “What, are you crazy?” I asked her. “My two major food groups are Hillbilly and Italian!” We had a time!

I stayed in a Pod Hotel overnight one night in Manhattan. It was my first and last time doing that. It felt like a prison cell with internet to me. I swear I slept much better and more comfortably in the woods when I was on my pilgrimage. And the traffic! I am used to driving in downtown Chicago, so this is not my first rodeo. But wow, in downtown New York it is not just the traffic you have to worry about. Every block there is a battalion of bikers competing with you for the pole position at the next red light. If you give a pedestrian the right of way instead of running them down the cars behind you turn into a flock of angry geese, honking furiously. But truth be told, get them out of their cars and New Yorkers are likeable people – friendly and helpful, with a lively sense of humor. Of course, I love the folks from Jersey. They have that sarcastic wit that energizes me and brings a smile to my face.

I have several private and confidential meetings as I travel, as well – with authorities in the Church and in the government. You can understand why those need to be private. I’ll tell you something: the government of this country is in freefall, but the ordinary people of the country are fabulous. And the many officials I meet with know how difficult things have become as we have, progressively, turned from God, family and freedom. There is not as much cowardice there as many think, but a lot of paralyzed confusion as the problems are so comprehensive it is hard to know how to begin to grapple with them. But my counsel to the greatest of them is the same as my counsel to all of you: do the little you can right in front you as best you can and God’s grace will take up residence in the gaps. I often wish all of you could be in these meetings with me – because then you would be much more optimistic about our ultimate end in these times. People struggle with the how and the what in these baffling times, but most do not lack the will to confront the problems. Yes, we have a lot of wood to chop, but I like the company of woodsmen we are knitting together.

Lord Jesus, be our light and guide us safely to harbor in you. Let us not be distracted by the winds and waves of this stormy sea we are in, but press on with our eyes firmly fixed on you, trusting that in Your service, we will help renew the face and faith of the world. And joy will burst forth anew.

If communication goes out for any length of time, meet outside your local Church at 9 a.m. on Saturday mornings. Tell friends at Church now in case you can’t then. CORAC teams will be out looking for people to gather in and work with.

    Totally see the impending danger zone after election day, and I pray that the majority of State Law Enforcement agencies will act as the few with whom you’ve spoken plan to do.

  4. I pray that the suffering of the martyrs of this age will be gathered up into the chalice of Christ’s suffering and bring all to a swift and, if possible, peaceful end. I pray for those under the oppressive CCP, especially Cardinal Zen, and I pray that those who are responsible for this despicable alliance between the Vatican and the CCP will meet soon with the Saviour’s justice. As Steve Bannon has said, “Pray for our enemies,” and I add to that, pray for the enemies of God and His Church. May He have mercy on us all.

    Re McCarthy, McConnell, and their esteemed colleagues, it’s not so much that they are misreading the extent of discontent, even outrage at DemoRat politics, as it is that they are Establishment RINOS. Given their opportunity to lead, they will resume feeding in the same pig pen.

  8. I expect we will see the danger before the election. I do not expect the Dems to allow themselves to be out-gunned. “Come on, man. You know you’re going to do it sooner or later. All I’m asking is like before November 7th!” Only problem is WHO really wants to do Biden a favor?

    1. Patrice, That’s a great idea, but his staff will likely never show it to him; if not in his district, email will not be permitted. My experience sending to my reps, reflected by their responses, is that they only respond to large donors.

      1. Having worked with more than a few, I can say some do and some don’t. However, unless they have a staff that is sandbagging them (and some do – usually sloppy and arrogant members) the staff does give them updates on the trends showing up in the mail.

      1. This election I’ve been calling instead of email and leaving my 2 cents at the candidate’s office with my name/city. Just curious, Charlie, in your dealings, if both live phone calls and emails are equally effective? (I’m guessing emails, now that I think about it.)

        1. Personal letters have the most individual impact. Phone calls can in the aggregate – if they are getting enough on a subject that they have to take notice. Emails are much the same – in the aggregate…though on the subject of emails, remember, it is around 15 years since I have overseen day-to-day operations…and emails have gotten far more used since then.

            1. There was just the one, brief period where that was the case – where there actually had been such a threat. That has LONG since passed – and anyone who tells you that is just making an excuse to ignore you. Handwritten letters are still the most impactful form of communication there.

          2. I have sent emails to D reps and senators in my blue state. I get the same type ‘canned’ response of the policy position of the D party. I am not sure anyone even reads them. Nor do they care.

  11. I still count myself as a sarcastically witty Garden Stater even living here in FL. After watching people come together here in FL after Ian, I have all hope that these amazing people will weather what comes next arm in arm and praying their hearts out. Even the newspapers here have spotlighted churches having worship times, with food and supplies for people. It’s been a beautiful thing to be a part of and witness.

    And I am absolutely praying for those Blue states because so many people that I love live in them.

    I do pray that there is hell to pay for those who perpetrated this on us. I want to bake annual cakes on the anniversary of their incarcerations.

  13. Always good to have your wrap up, Charlie. I’m not sure if I should feel optimistic or the opposite! I pray that there are more than we realize who will stand with the “good guys” when the time comes.

    I sure wish some of you were here way down in SoCal! I don’t think there’s anyone around me and it makes me a bit “jealous” when I here of all the gatherings. But God has his reasons!

    Please pray for my hubby, D., who fell over the weekend and can’t walk with the knee damage. Hope the doc gives us encouraging news tomorrow.

      1. Thank you all, you are such dear people! The doc had good news in that nothing in hubby’s knee is broken or torn, as far as he can tell. Have to get X-ray done to be sure.
        It’s ironic that he is using my “ice therapy” machine and walker that I just used for my hip surgery. At least, thank God, I just finished my 12 weeks of PT! So the timing was better than it could have been, and I’m not still rehabbing!! 😁

God bless you for doing all you do, and you are 100% correct on McCarthy. This time, Republicans need to play for keeps and hold these people accountable. We are sick of being the party of the flaccid GOP. We despise Dems, but only despise a little less the flaccid GOP, who have made it possible for us to be so abused by the Dems, by their back room deals and friendships. No more!

  17. Totally off topic but I had a squirrel encounter today. I was on our patio and a young squirrel carefully inched it’s way towards me. It was only a couple of feet from me watching me as if waiting for permission to come closer. I turned chicken and ducked back into the house. Couldn’t help but think of a Corac connection. 🐿

    1. Ah, Bernadette, the Irish are given to bouts of despair, followed by bouts of phenomenal productivity, then bouts of angry courage. Thank God there is a lot of Irish in my ethnic make-up. You’ll have people rise in Ireland after they have fully processed their grief over the scandals in the Church. I have to think that as devoted as Irish Catholics have long been, it had to feel a very personal betrayal and the Irish are not quite finished with their grieving and anger at that betrayal.

      1. Well said regarding the Irish – they don’t call them “fighting” for nothing. Incidentally, the McCarthy built the Blarney Castle (it’s my maiden name) and as my dad would say, most likely swallowed the stone. That may help explain some of the behavior of our nascent Speaker of the House.

        1. Generally speaking the “Fighting Irish” moniker was only percolating in South Bend early on due to the many Irishmen at UND who had served in the Union Army during the Civil War. That would explain the roots, but that community wouldn’t seriously put it into action until the boys went up against a Klan infested anti-Catholic organization on the streets in May 1924.

          The cup was served up hot then and there – steaming and overflowing – from a bunch of fired up Irishmen of single-minded purpose. There was fighting… literal fisticuffs and whatnot. resulting in one of the most powerful Klan presences in the country (Indiana in this case) being put on its heels, eventually declining into irrelevance.

          Sadly, today’s woke crowd is trying to change the name from “The Fighting Irish,” but so far the University hasn’t budged despite what’s tragically happened on many other fronts there.

          Not to worry. I can attest that the fighting spirit is still alive and well.

After being imprisoned and exiled in the Irish “Troubles,” he escaped Australian prison, moved to the US, commanded a troop of Irish on behalf of the Union Army, became the first Territorial Governor of Montana, and died under suspicious circumstances.

    Well, I have a 2003 Subaru Forrester with 227,000 miles on it – you’ve got me beat by 54,000 miles, but I figured you would have beat me by a whole lot more – you pray for my car and I’ll pray for yours!
    Yes, I think your analysis of the interregnum is right on. What is somewhat puzzling is that I have not heard any Maga commentators, not even Steve Bannon, touch on this. I have even considered that, knowing they are going to lose big time, they might try something before the vote, or maybe smack in the middle, claiming “evidence” of major voting irregularities – sort of like 2020 with the shoe on the other foot. Might be easier to close the barn door before the horse gets out! Of course most people would smell a rat, but that tactic might create enough confusion and room for doubt that it might paralyze the populace, whereas declaring martial law after the vote would be a clear attempt at a governmental coup. Just my humble musings.
    BTW, you might remember my post a year or so ago about my wife’s accident. I was very touched by the support I got from that, and the many promises of prayers for Phyllis. She was in a coma in the ICU at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Santa Rosa, Ca, for three weeks and was given a one percent chance of recovery by her neurologist. The unspoken question was, “do you want us to discontinue her life support?”. I was able to attend the Catholic Mass every day at the chapel at St. Joseph while she was there, and the priest offered prayers for her at each Mass. Many, many people in my circle of friends wee also praying for her. The short story is, she is now walking, talking and pretty much back to her old self. She still needs some assistance in walking and a few other things, but truly, her recovery has been miraculous, and she is still progressing. Father Peter from St. Joseph has, in fact, stated that he considers it a first class miracle. Your continued prayers would be appreciated.

    2. Wow, Robert, what a heartening comment! So glad to hear about Phyllis. Your analysis is certainly plausible. I thought about you this summer as I drove by San Francisco. I did not go into the city, but I did go over the Bay Bridge to get to Sacramento…and I made sure my passage was before three pm. (For those who don’t know, if you take the Bay Bridge after 3 pm, you have a four or five hour ordeal ahead of you even if you’re just going ten miles).

  32. A few historical observations came to mind here. If when the Berlin Wall fell – and the Soviet Union fell apart, the Russian communists responsible for the deaths of multitudes of Russians – they were not legally pursued and called to task for their crimes. If they had been punished for their thefts and murders, the current Russian leadership would not have invaded Ukraine and been responsible for the deaths of many thousands of both Russian and Ukrainian troops & tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens.

    VIRTUALLY ALL of the communist leadership in Russia was allowed to proceed with business as usual. That’s one side of the coin. I’m not picking on anyone here – just citing history. The second side is President Woodrow Wilson’s (and his crony, Col. Edward Mandell House’s infamous ‘Treaty of Versailles; ended WW I. It completely stripped Germany of many of the things it needed just to be a modern nation. As way more than a couple of dozen honest historians subsequently observed, the ruthless terms of that agreement virtually guaranteed that Germany would some day go to war again.

    In times like these, there is a tough fence which needs to be walked. Punish deliberate law breakers who wielded power, but make certain that it doesn’t turn into a macabre imitation of the French Revolution’s, “Off with their heads” – in the course of which many basically innocent people lost their heads to the guillotine.

    Justice which does not go after every little fish in the sea must be the order of the day. Throughout history – situations like this often go to one extreme or another.
    1. Even the worst offenders get away ‘scot-free’. That never works out well.
    2. The drag net gets out of control and even minor functionaries who found themselves caught in the middle get the same treatment as the worst offenders.

    That balance is what our Catholic faith calls us to. Saying that is easy – but doing it can be very difficult.

    For most of my adult life – when conservatives carried the day here in the U.S.A., they turned a blind eye to the criminal injustices perpetrated by the Left when they were in power – whether that was at the local, state, or federal level.

    I don’t buy into Kevin McCarthy’s plan either. I just know how quickly and easily a quest for justice can turn into blind angry search for vengeance.

    1. Oh it’s real, Linda, and I read a piece yesterday which noted that this dilemma was also an issue in 2008. Oh and the government – aka the regime – is keeping a close watch on this supply issue. Whew boy! I’ll bet they are watching… and manipulating and scheming, in dastardly fashion, their other manufactured supply chain problems, right along with their puppeteers. Somethin’s gotta’ give way to the destruction of a culture attempting to be sustained on a foundation of lies. If it’s not a diesel fuel shortage, it’ll be something else, for it still remains that there are a ton of precarious, extremely dangerous rocks that could become the prime mover for the whole rock slide to come tumbling down. Then we, too, can finally say: “Fallen, fallen is Babylon.” May all the images of her gods, as in the original Babylon, be shattered on the ground… and make way for a New Beginning, life built on THE ROCK, our strength, our fortress, our deliverer… the ONE in Whom we take refuge.
