“…in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark…”
Matthew 24:38
We are all being bombarded right now. The news is coming as if out of the nozzle of a wide open power hose. Some of it is true, some of it false, almost all of it manipulated. It is incredibly hard right now to separate the wheat from the chaff. Meantime among both family and colleagues, personal crises and challenges are rising. We are in the midst of the spiritual and technological equivalent of the bombing blitzkrieg of London.
People are constantly asking for my assessment of various commentators in both the political and religious arenas. It is a good time to remind all that I have always said it is more important to be true than it is to be precisely right. The relentless search for a guru, a man who is always right and never wrong avails us nothing. There is only one guru in the universe and He is God. Each of us are poor, stumbling servants of the Most High, unless we have already turned to the darkness. Thus, what I look for in commentary and counselors is meat: do they give me deeper insight? Do they challenge me, forcing me to refine my thinking? Do they stay grounded in established facts and evidence? If they do all these things they are useful to me. That is why I can admire and value a woman like Camille Paglia, with whose interpretations I disagree over 80 percent of the time. But she is that precious rarity among the left these days: an intellectually honest liberal who does not make up her own facts to make her case.
In these terrible times, even the minds of the best among us are clouded over with some measure of confusion. The most faithful sons of the Church are heartbroken at the barnacles encrusting the body of Christ. Many of them, while working from solid facts, are making panicked diagnoses and prescriptions. The magnificent Abp. Carlo Vigano commands my deep respect and admiration. On matters of fact that he recites, I have absolute confidence. On his interpretations of how we got here and where we are headed, I consider them and often reject them. He is a devoted son of the Church whose grief at where we find ourselves colors his judgment. Michael Voris of Church Militant is doing vital work that no one else in the Church is doing near as well. I value much of his work enormously. I worry that he is over-aggressive. That makes you vulnerable to ambush that can sap your credibility. I know. I ambushed more than a few over-aggressive opponents to blow them out of the water. Whether it was good or bad, it is a fact. In fact, I used that tactic frequently here a few years back, not to damage opponents, but to reveal their character to me. I was VERY controversial for a while and it was very important to me to know who, among theologians and such, were serious critics and who were just trying to make a name for themselves without much actual wisdom. So I took to occasionally making a case that St. Thomas Aquinas or St. Augustine made without openly acknowledging it. Turns out that both of those Doctors of the Church made some pretty startling, counter-intuitive arguments at times. The pretenders would almost invariably attack my argument, unaware that it was St. Thomas’ or St. Augustine’s argument that they were attacking. The serious men would often contact me to go into more depth. I NEVER used it to discredit anyone, except to myself. But it was a very useful tool of discernment for me. I chuckled as one critic devoted almost an entire column to demonstrating how stupid I (actually St. Thomas) was.
Most of you know I have become dear friends with the eschatologist, Desmond Birch. Sometimes we chortle with glee agreeing with each other. At others, we take turns clubbing each other upside the head in disagreement. But I always come away better for the encounter, either having confirmed or refined my thought. And after a disagreement, we chuckle over how much vigorous fun that was.
Some of the public people I rely upon to always give me serious food for thought in the religious sphere are Dr. Robert Royal, Anthony Esolen, George Weigel, Jeffrey Mirus, and Fr. Mitch Pacwa. There are a host of others that I either read or have personal contact with. I can’t think of one that I agree with all the time – but among those named here, there is not one who does not make me better for having read his stuff. That IS the critical element to me. They are all true – and so they help me to be true.
This last month I have been disturbed by another phenomenon. Some people who have done work I liked in the past have written books or series of articles that posit, with comprehensive certainty, how we got here and what will happen next. Some of them are very comforting, others are very titillating – and the vast multitude have serious theological and historical errors. I have been mildly shaken by how many good people are taken in – the ones wanting comfort taking false comfort despite profound theological errors and the ones wanting titillation certain that they know the “secret” history and “secret” plan regardless of serial errors. Then I got to thinking that, unless you have already spent serious time laying down a base of theological and historical knowledge, you really don’t have time or leisure to get up to snuff now that it is so critical. Most adult Americans know the basics of American history, so if an author wrote a book positing how fortunate we are that the British put down the American Revolution or how the assassination of Abraham Lincoln was the proximate cause of Richard Nixon’s opening of China the reader would instinctively think that is not right…and so dismiss the credibility of the rest of the author’s argument no matter how dense and detailed. Absurdities greater than this are being peddled by people that have previously done serious work. I don’t know whether it is because of the panic these days have brought or if there is a more malign interpretation, but a lot of good people are being misled either way. I think it will become increasingly clear that you should seek neither comfort nor certainty, but devote yourself to taking the next right step under God, come what may.
Last week, two friends in conversation told me that I was a better writer than prognosticator. I let it pass with the first, but got a bit aggravated at the second pass. Noting that I had taken responsibility for my actual errors instead of trying to justify them, I asked him pointedly who else, five years ago, was saying that we were headed for a global civil war fought on cultural lines? Who else was saying that the heart of collapse would not be from some disaster movie, but the complete collapse of confidence in almost all the institutions we rely on? Who else had gotten closer to the big sweep of what we face? At the last question, after an uncomfortable silence, he said nobody had described what we face better. Whether you attribute my prognostications to an intuitive brilliance or to mysticism, I have told you true. But that was only the set-up for what is now truly needful, to establish firmly the credibility of my intuition and my resolution in taking full responsibility for my inevitable errors, neither blaming it on God or some mystical argle-bargle. And what you need to know now and that I tell you firmly is that, A-this is not the end (though it is the end of an era), B-Jesus is not going to come reign over us directly as king until we get heaven, C-while many will play helpful roles in the challenge before us, there is no man on a white horse coming to rescue us, relieving us of our responsibility, and D-this disorder was not foisted on us by some malevolent other (though malevolent others were, indeed, involved) but is a result of our failure to defend the faith when we should have, of our love having grown cold and presumptuous. It is not “they” who have crucified Christ, but “we.”
That being said, this is the hour of the hobbits. God has entrusted the renewal of the faith to His ordinary people. There is no place of safety, there is no place where we can avoid our duty before God now. We must each stand and publicly declare ourselves. We are called to be the heralds of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart – which will renew the faith of the world, a perfectly normal world in which we are given a renewed chance, with the fullness of our free will intact. It is entirely up to us what we will make of it. But we won’t have it until we make our stand before God – and before the world. Some of us will die in the process, either as martyrs or because God has better use for us in the eternal realm than the temporal. Do not desire to be a martyr or a king or unnoticed. Desire only to discern what God wants of you and to live it fully. He will choose our role if we acknowledge him in every moment and action. We will live the fullness of the communion of the saints as the Church Militant and the Church Triumphant work in tandem for the renewal of the faith and the world.
Each one of us will make errors in judgment as we go. If we try to justify them rather than candidly own up to our feet of clay, we will mutilate our souls a little and draw farther from God. Take counsel with each other and value those who tell you true, even when they are errant above those who want to convince you that they are gurus just like God.
Now we are at the penultimate point of a coup attempt in America that has been going on for four years. The media, all the institutions including much of the hierarchy, and social tech titans are all in censoring and silencing everyone who does not toe the line, even censoring the president. Everything is in suspense. Whether these institutions succeed in the coup or whether the American Jedi mount a serious defense of the Constitution and civil liberty; of faith, family and freedom will not resolve the conflict. Rather it is the beginning of the great battle.
You have been drafted into God’s army. Unlike with men’s rules, you are free to choose to accept or reject the invitation. But the battle will commence whatever you do. If you accept, you will not do battle as men do. Oh yes, there will be physical fighting in defense of liberty. But you are called to participate with Christ our Brother in calling the dead souls, those who have replaced all hope and joy with bitterness and anger, back to the peace and joy that is within Him. But there is no place of neutrality left. (Note: through some glitch, the original of this post simply repeated the last two lines of the previous paragraph. I have since replaced those last two lines with what I actually wrote – CJ)
We have been called to be heralds of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart. Each of us will live the consequences of what we choose – and the best of us, like Christ on the road to Golgotha, will sometimes stumble. Now is the time to choose or perish.
Another motherlode of wisdom treasures, Charlie! Thanks for cutting through the confusion with such refined clarity and heartening wisdom in these rallying cries.
These particularly stand out to me:
*“In these terrible times, even the minds of the best among us are clouded over with some measure of confusion.”
*“I think it will become increasingly clear that you should seek neither comfort nor certainty, but devote yourself to taking the next right step under God, come what may.”
*“Whether you attribute my prognostications to an intuitive brilliance or to mysticism, I have told you true. But that was only the set-up for what is now truly needful, to establish firmly the credibility of my intuition and my resolution in taking full responsibility for my inevitable errors, neither blaming it on God or some mystical argle-bargle.”
*“And what you need to know now and that I tell you firmly is that, A-this is not the end (though it is the end of an era), B-Jesus is not going to come reign over us directly as king until we get heaven, C-while many will play helpful roles in the challenge before us, there is no man on a white horse coming to rescue us, relieving us of our responsibility, and D-this disorder was not foisted on us by some malevolent other (though malevolent others were, indeed, involved) but is a result of our failure to defend the faith when we should have, of our love having grown cold and presumptuous. It is not “they” who have crucified Christ, but ‘we.’
“*Oh yes… oh yes to this: “Some of us will die in the process, either as martyrs or because God has better use for us in the eternal realm than the temporal. Do not desire to be a martyr or a king or unnoticed. Desire only to discern what God wants of you and to live it fully. He will choose our role if we acknowledge him in every moment and action. We will live the fullness of the communion of the saints as the Church Militant and the Church Triumphant work in tandem for the renewal of the faith and the world.”
*So rich and true: “Each one of us will make errors in judgment as we go. If we try to justify them rather than candidly own up to our feet of clay, we will mutilate our souls a little and draw farther from God. Take counsel with each other and value those who tell you true, even when they are errant above those who want to convince you that they are gurus just like God.”
*Absolutely!!!: “Whether these institutions succeed in the coup or whether the American Jedi mount a serious defense of the Constitution and civil liberty; of faith, family and freedom will not resolve the conflict. Rather it is the beginning of the great battle.”
*Heart-piercing: “Take counsel with each other and value those who tell you true, even when they are errant above those who want to convince you that they are gurus just like God.”
*Mary, Mediatrix of Graces, fill us with all we need to remain true to Your Son: “We have been called to be heralds of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart. Each of us will live the consequences of what we choose – and the best of us, like Christ on the road to Golgotha, will sometimes stumble. Now is the time to choose or perish.”
Oh Stella Maris, pray with us and for us.

Charlie, Thank you for accurately reviewing the chaos. I am by nature, reinforced by education, much more critical than most, but found nothing wrong in your narrative. At 82, while not claiming wisdom, I do take a stand-back perspective, and would like to emphasize two of your special points:
1) ” there is no man on a white horse coming to rescue us, relieving us of our responsibility,…this is the hour of the hobbits. God has entrusted the renewal of the faith to His ordinary people. There is no place of safety, there is no place where we can avoid our duty before God now. We must each stand and publicly declare ourselves ”
Might I add that, short of the second coming, there never is any but God Himself to turn the tide. Rather, it is always here in life, across all of history, for each of us individually to contribute to the betterment of our family and civilization. I believe that’s really why we are here, for in Heaven there would not exist any such burden on the individual soul.
2) ” D-this disorder was not foisted on us by some malevolent other (though malevolent others were, indeed, involved) but is a result of our failure to defend the faith when we should have, of our love having grown cold and presumptuous. It is not “they” who have crucified Christ, but “we.” ”
Entirely consistent with the first point 1), we have participated in the demise of Western Civilization which was founded on Christ’s mission to Earth. However, the current chaos in this country may be different now in kind than degree from past political and moral decay. Cordiality, social graciousness, avoidance of appearing preachy — act as normal constraints on how we engage society. But the current unabashed murder of the innocents in the womb for political gamesmanship, the massive fraudulent stealing of this election, with the entire establishment participating to serve their greed over common wage earners, creates a call to action for all of us hobbits.

YouTube Christian inspirational song video of the day for stormy times: “Even the Impossible” by Mack Brock
Well, anyways, the color scheme of Mack Brock’s song matches the color scheme of Charlie’s artwork at the top of this post … and I do like the song.
The one thing that’s so challenging about Christian music is finding any good songs with references to Mary or that seem like they could be about Mary. Good news/bad news: I recently heard such a song on the radio called “Praying you through the Storm” by Jennifer Stanley … the bad news is, no music video exists for it that I can find, at least so far … wish it were available because that song sounds just like Mary herself telling you she’s praying for you. Which is so important. Because I believe that even one Hail Mary can save a life.

Phoenix,
This one, about Our Lady of Knock, is by Dana (Rosemary “Dana” Scallon), a well-known Irish singer who won the Eurovision song contest in 1970 at the age of 18 and has since gone on to become a professional singer, pro-Life campaigner and even one-time member of the European “parliament” (lower case and quotes deliberate!):
There were people of all ages gathered ’round the gable wall
poor and humble men and women, little children that you called
we are gathered here before you, and our hearts are just the same
filled with joy at such a vision, as we praise Your Name
Golden Rose, Queen of Ireland, all my cares and troubles cease
as we kneel with love before you, Lady of Knock, my Queen of Peace
Though your message was unspoken, still the truth in silence lies
as I gaze upon your vision, and the truth I try to find
here I stand with John the teacher, and with Joseph at your side
and I see the Lamb of God, on the Altar glorified
Golden Rose, Queen of Ireland, all my cares and troubles cease
as we kneel with love before you, Lady of Knock, my Queen of Peace
And the Lamb will conquer and the woman clothed in the sun
will shine Her light on everyone
and the lamb will conquer and the woman clothed in the sun,
will shine Her light on everyone

Hi JayKay,
Yes, definitely I know Dana and love her song “Lady of Knock!” I once bought a recording of her saying the Rosary, and picked up an Irish accent while saying the Rosary for awhile. Years later, I still tend to say the Our Father with an Irish accent, especially at Mass.
(Also, I’m part Irish on both sides of the family, visited Ireland, and saw a rainbow there on my birthday!) 🙂
Now here’s the lyrics to the song I heard but can’t find the audio online. Imagine that you’d just finished saying the Rosary and right after that, this song comes on, sounding just like Mary herself is replying to you personally over the radio: (Yes the words are simple, you’d have to hear the melody and the motherly simplicity of the singing voice to really understand)
Praying You through the Storm
by Jennifer Stanley
Sometimes the wind blows harder than you think your house can stand
You’ve never faced this kind of storm before
And you thought because you built upon the rock and not the sand
The house would not be threatened anymore
But in every life there is pain
And even though I cannot stop the rain
I’ll be praying you through the storm
Praying you through the storm
And I’ll be interceding for whatever you’re needing
Praying, I’ll be praying you through the storm
I know you’ll make it through this even though you can’t see how
But maybe it’s not meant for you to know
Tomorrow you’ll look back at the storm that’s raging now
And there won’t be any strong winds left to blow
So please know in your heart it will end
Because I’m making you this promise my friend
I’ll be praying you through the storm
Praying you through the storm
And I’ll be interceding for whatever you’re needing
Praying, I’ll be praying you through the storm

Hello again JayKay,
And thank you so much for posting the “Lady of Knock” song … 🙂 (Had tried to post something to you earlier but ran into technical difficulties … My original post to you was really long and was supposed to combine both the thank you and the song lyrics but it got deleted so I tried retyping!)
Have also had trouble today with liking posts here … as well as with the CORAC website …

I love Dana. Her voice is as beautiful as she is a person. She and I got to know each other informally during the years she attended and spoke and performed at the Chicago Marian Conferences with Father Kevin Scanlon. They were quite the spiritual duo. ❤

Thank you Charlie…Just what I needed to read at this pivotal point in the unfurling battle we are all in to reach safe haven in Marys Immaculate Heart. Spending more time in front of our Lord asking for the grace to overcome my weaknesses in letting all the present evil harden my ability to love my neighbor , those especially who don’t seem to have the eyes of faith

Gosh Charlie this piece of yours has so many layers it’s hard to zero in on the one main thought I want to convey to you and to everyone. Certainly no one needs or even desires my stupid thoughts but still, we are family and I want to come up with something 🤔…..hold on a sec… ok…here it is:
I like this part the best:
I tell you firmly is that, A-this is not the end (though it is the end of an era), B-Jesus is not going to come reign over us directly as king until we get heaven, C-while many will play helpful roles in the challenge before us, there is no man on a white horse coming to rescue us, relieving us of our responsibility, and D-this disorder was not foisted on us by some malevolent other (though malevolent others were, indeed, involved) but is a result of our failure to defend the faith when we should have, of our love having grown cold and presumptuous. It is not “they” who have crucified Christ, but “we.”
The reason I like that paragraph the best is that through all the years under your tutoring I think the thing I’ve learned the most is that we ALL crucified Christ. Not them. Me! Us! All of us. I personally feel like this battle that is underway is a great battle for souls. Even our own at times. I find I just feel plain sorry for most folksies these days that don’t know Jesus…yet!!! Prayer, penance, fasting, confession and daily conversion! What a great journey we are all on! Jesus thirsts! Ave Maria Stella Maris!!!
Good one, Charlie!!! I’ll be printing this out soon, reading and re-reading for weeks for sure!
God bless us all!

Yes you have been wrong. But the one thing that I appreciate most about you is that you are balanced.
I don’t have to read you through a hyperbole filter, like many of the others out there. You are calm, measured, and even when angry you speak strongly, but not with slander or cruelty.
Lots to think about in this piece.
One thing I’ve felt led to do is to draw closer to Mary. It’s hard for me with a bad relationship with my mom and years of Protestant tainting. I have made a consecration before and want to do another, but I want to feel as close to her as I do her son.
I’m in AlAnon, and my sponsor has a saying that I love. “Where are your feet? That’s where you are.” It gets a lot easier take the next right step when you’re focused on the present, the job before you at this very moment.
It often makes me think of that part in the Song of Solomon, where the bride comes out, leaning on the arm of her beloved. He guided her step by step is the connection I made.
Prayers for all the Squirrels.

Hi Charlie, I always felt that when you were being thrown down the well that it was because the timeline was just a little off. God, in His infinite mercy, sometimes just gives a us little reprieve here and there. Other than that the storm is certainly picking up steam with all the players lining up for the show. A confrontation with Russia could happen over the Kuril Islands and then there is the 500 lb gorilla (China) which has been waging asymmetric warfare with us for sometime. My dear mother who grew up in the depression and during WWII always used to say that it was really dumb for us to buy all this junk from China so they could build up a big army for us to have a war with someday. I hate it sometimes when all you prophets get it right. God Help us and may the Triumph come quickly!

Mvislander I thought 4 yrs ago Charlie was just off on his timing but have learned since then that prophecy can be tricky…you say one thing but it could mean another thing. E.g. Christ and the destruction of the temple raised in 3 days. 🤔 So I don’t focus so much anymore on what Charlie says will come because the only thing Charlie really says is what we need: acknowledge God, take the next right step and try to be a sign of hope to those whom God puts in our path! Ha!!! So simple and “true!”🤗

In noting how we are aiding and abetting China in building a large army and growing in strength which they will inevitable use against us, we tend to lose sight of how we did basically the same thing with regard to Japan who, when they thought they were strong enough, came to a point where they miscalculated an attack on us which led to their ultimate destruction. I am reminded that “Those who fail to learn from history are destined to repeat it.” Perhaps China will make note of this history and await to attack us when they are more certain to prevail. Note the many adversaries against the Israelites who warred with them over the years but it was the Babylonians who finally totally defeated them. Here again, Israel contributed to their own defeat in their prior dealings with them.
Just something to think about.
Thank you Charlie for your most timely, insightful and needed guidance.
May God continue to bless and guide all here and I thank each of you for your individual and group contributions for it is more often that God saves His people through the instrumentality of His willing servants than He does by direct divine intervention.

Dear BlessedIAm,
Thank you for posting “Put on the armor of God” twice.
Because by coincidence, I have two nieces. Last month, I sent each member of their family a scapular … and had a friend of mine design handmade cards with Bible verses for everybody. Each of my nieces both received a card that said on the front, “Put on the full armor of God – Eph 6-11” and inside the card was a scapular.

We have stopped watching tv entirely. Even if we can find good programming, the commercials are unsettling, at best.
Iow, I want to say: Charlie throughout the years of reading here, the majority of what you have written resonates so clearly with the small still voice of The Lord I hear. You have helped me/continue to help me tremendously. I am so grateful.
Just today I was reminding myself that you have always said it is prudent to reject anyone who offers consul or advice if they don’t acknowledge that the Mordor we are living in is due to each one of us crucifying Our Dear Lord. Period.
This is an especially powerful meditation when combined with the absolute reality of how very much Jesus loves, each one of us, exactly as we are, here, now. How He quickly, readily embraced the cross, swallowed foul spit, had His skin all but removed from His body—for me, for you, for us, to save us, to heal us. How the Blessed Mother had to will His crucifixion, because it was The Father’s will and therefore Jesus’ will and therefore also hers. (this is beyond my comprehension, and such a mystery) If we could each believe this, If I could believe this without faltering, we/I would not be scared. We/I would run to Him, with our/my foulness, certain of His victory in us/me. We would be docile in His hands. The world could change overnight. (all this from Luisa Piccaretta’s 24 hours).
It is becoming clearer to me that I need to do whatever I can to remain in this reality. If I can do this, I will have done everything I need to do. I beg God for this unfailing grace for me, for those I have direct responsibility for, and all I hold dear. As Crew Dog says: God Bless us, everyone!

I’m glad Charlie is bringing these things up, nothing freaks me out more than seeing major events in play, and everyone ignoring the elephants in the room. I’m always hoping Charlie can prove my observations & paranoias wrong… I’m happy when bad things I think could happen don’t happen.
Didn’t Maria Esperanza make a comment about “America not giving up it’s freedom”? In light of what the enemy has planned next for everyone if they succeed in installing Biden, it would seem the options are “do (1776) or die.”
I look at how events are unfolding at a alarming rate, and I honestly don’t know if I’ll live to see next year, I’m at a loss for what to say to my 3, 7, & 8 year old children…

Al, I imagine that at their ages, watching you love them as their father would be the best sign of hope that they will understand. The Eternal Father is sharing His Fatherhood with you and you are the head of your family. Your vocation is to love them with all your heart and mirror to them the love of the Father. That is what children remember–actions speak louder than words. (Sorry, I don’t mean to be so “preachy” but a lot of kids suffer from father-wounds.)

Charlie,
A great post for giving people a excellent description of the chaos and what can happen between people. Even people of good faith.
The other day we I a conversation with my best friend for several decades regarding how the media always pushes the surge in new cases. I understood the point but noted that there are thousands on new testing being done that do not result in being hospitalized. I
have a large family that had contracted COVID-19. their side affects were hurting in some areas which required a few days off. Not sure if the the CDC or who ever counts these things tracks this stuff. Also, what is not reported except on conservative, or religious radios or networks news is the mortality rate. That is the real issue.
How many people are dying from covid-19 and whether they count scenarios like my family. I think it is around 1% after deducting false tests, misdiagnosis, falsely reporting of COVID-19 cases that were actually due to other conditions. These people could have been saved if better state management were in charge. I noted that the cases may be higher. I noted that the mortality rates are much lower now than when covid-19 all started. This number should be discussed as a key component instead of the number of new cases.
The result is that a best friend for decades know says he never wants to talk to me again. I believe this will be resolved, but it demonstrates how quickly good friends can turn on each other so quickly. I know Satan is very happy to see this type of thing happen. As Charlie has written even people of good will, being on the same side of freedom, faith and family can disagree beyond a normal conversation. Those on the fence can be nudged our way by gently nudging a person, sighting examples and consequences, how it can be a safeguard to being overwhelmed with the chaos of the world, and how praying to the Blessed Virgin especially.
Many of my friends and family are pro Trump but do not know all the reasons why they should be. When liberals come along with their narrative those that do not know Trump’s position or his accomplishments, they are beat to death by the social and news media and the politics of issues. are weakened by the Utopian life that awaits them if they vote democratic.
I know we are in for some really bad times and that only God knows the time and hour. Our Lord needs to purify us before we can return to a time of peace sponsored from heaven.
God’s peace is not, man’s peace, no matter what a person says, including those anointed by God, to guide us guidance from Church teachings. Most notably in this role are the Holy Spirit and our Mother Mary.ey. They plead with you every day with their whispers, inspirations, consolations, to say prayers Following these advocates of God are here to make sure we get to Our Father home as adopted sons and daughters of God.

i have often remembered this as what you said would happen 4 years ago
is happening now in real time … the general drift of what you said would occur has
been proven to be so ….. we need reliable prophets /’spiritual prognosticators’ Charlie ,

Every Christmas season I find myself wanting to watch the movie A Christmas Carol. With the advent of social media, the luck is that I can watch any number of productions of this story along with all the differing directors take on this exceptional story by Dickens.
While watching, I do an examination of conscience as each character is brought to the screen; Scrooge, Marley, Bell, Cratchet, and Tiny Tim. I notice the best and worst in them, the love and hate, the weaknesses and strengths, the virtues and sins. I end the show as a better man- for a time at least for I have been challenged by these characters and their stories of life so many years ago but still timeless in its message. A story not too different from mine so I can relate.
Of course, the best part of the story is to see Scrooge go from a demon to an angel and to feel the joy inside as such a wretch of a man convert to a real human being. But not just for himself, but with the power to do good as a rich man. For many of us, we would like to possess such power.
We do.
It isn’t the power of money that gives Scrooge the ability to have good will for his fellow men but, like the Grinch, the heart for it.
The Grinch possesses no power outside himself. He simply stops being a grinch and joins the Who’s in celebrating the birth of Christ with the only thing of value he possesses…himself.
May we too share ourselves fully this Christmas season with our fellow man.
And:
“May God bless us, every one”!

My favorite is with Patrick Stewart.
Does anyone remember the Rich Little version? He played all of the parts if I remember correctly. It was a long time ago and have not seen it anywhere since.

Huh, I’m seeing a lot of votes for the Patrick Stewart version – and it is the only version that completely bores me. Go figure. Good thing we have a variety for every taste. My overall favorite is the George C. Scott version. I like that Scott’s Scrooge is no pushover and takes a while to turn around. I don’t like the treacly sentimentality of Tiny Tim in this version, much preferring the Tiny Tim in the Alastair Sims version – and also Scrooge’s initial giddy joy at finding it Christmas morning in the Sims version. But the wry wit of Scott in the end tickles me.

Oh George C. Scott’s version is good too.
I pretty much like them all because of the story.
I would even like a high school production if there is such a thing.

HttP, I vaguely remember the Rich Little version, that was a long time ago. I like Patrick Stewart, but I also like the version that Henry Winkler did. My all time favorite though is the one that was made into a musical with Albert Finney. It was called Scrooge and made in 1970. Of course, I like anything music related, lol.

Every Christmas for some years now I’ve make a point of reading the book, Phillip F. It has the original 1843 illustrations by John Leech.
Funnily enough, despite many fine movie versions being out there, my favourite is actually an animated one from my childhood, dating from 1971. It’s well cut down but very skillfully, and the dialogue is all based on the book. A full version would have been wonderful. It has some of the greats of British acting voicing it: Alastair Sim, Michael Redgrave, Michael Hordern, Joan Sims, The animations are spot-on, being based on Leech’s drawings, and the soundtrack of “God rest ye merry, gentlemen” is very appropriate and moreover sung by authentic London kids (you can tell by the accent!).
Hmmm… nearly time to start the book again! Enjoy:

So much meat to chew on. I have stopped reading the news during USGraceforces extreme fasting for this present novena. It helps filter out the noise and allows for more meditations. I will have to go back and reread this one for sure.

On another note. I about fell out of my chair while listening to Gen. Flynn’s interview with Dobbs. He said the transfer of power from Obama to Trump was not a peaceful transfer. It has been a continuous coup attempt.

So, last night was the first time in a few days that I have had the time to check things out on my IPAD. I listened to Dan Bongino’s interview with Gen.Flynn. I think we would enjoy having a beverage with this gentleman. Listen to that one.

Right!? I personally feel the timing was right on. Even back then, we knew instinctively when a large number of dems and rinos did not attend the inauguration that it lacked peace. Barry Obama and Valerie Jarrett setting up shop down the street was just another tell-tale sign, imho. It has truly been relentless.

As I was looking through a few articles in the Epoch Times this morning
https://m.theepochtimes.com/firm-that-conducted-audit-of-georgia-voting-machines-has-long-history-with-dominion_3604466.html?utm_source=morningbrief&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=mb-2020-12-04
It occurred to me, like the parable of the bad stuard in Luke 16:1-13, the DNC “left” also should be congratulated on their “Prudence” also on their patience, cleverness, and tenacity in all this voting fraud.
In my opinion, they have obviously been working on this for many years and elections.
Especially tenacity, even while all this is finally in process of being exposed, they’re still being clever and tenacious in getting (their previously set up) auditors to certify that there is nothing wrong with the dominion machines, and in other instances doing recounts wit the same fraudulent equipment, software, methods as was used in the first place!!!
Just like Jesus words in his parable, I’m certainly NOT commending them on their dishonesty/wrongdoing, only on their “Prudence”/cleverness/etc…
Blessings, -kevin-

So the big question remains, Charlie. Precisely when is the comet going to hit?
LikeLiked by 10 people
Oh, that’s hilarious, Golden. I was just telling that story to my brother a couple of days ago. For those who don’t know…
I was giving a presentation somewhere in the Midwest. I had spoken for over an hour – and my talks always emphasized the little right in front of us and to stay away from hokey stuff. One fellow near the front had been taking copious notes. He came up for the first question.
“When is the comet going to hit?” he asked.
In frustrated exasperation, I burst out, “What comet?” The audience was already laughing.
Bewildered, he said, “You’re not the comet guy?”
“No,” I bellowed, “I’m not the comet guy.”
“Oh.” he said. “Sorry. Never mind.”
I swear, it could have been a Saturday Night Live skit from back when they were funny.

For the scepter of wickedness shall not rest
on the land allotted to the righteous,
lest the righteous stretch out
their hands to do wrong.
We are very weak creatures and susceptible to our environment. One of my dear children lives in the belly of the beast and I have seen her thinking slowly accommodating profound error. There is no other voice in her world. Dad is just – you know – Dad.

Terrific commentary, and it surprises me how the emotions and thoughts I think are unique to myself seem to be shared by others. In itself this is an indication these are days like no other, but those of us who are a bit older already knew that. What you said about the pace of the times, the way things are coming at us so rapidly, that is so very, very true. I can say with all sincerity that life today is nothing like life in 1970, or 1980, or 2000. It is a constant bombardment of bad events, tragedies, disasters, and even the relentless pecking, always pecking, of things on a grand scale and on a personal scale! Life offers no “time off” anymore, any reprieve is short-lived.
What you said about looking for a guru is also true, and I attribute that in part to our natural fear at these times, our wish to know what the future is going to bring (I realize that will be criticized with a Christian argument that this is bad but that is still what it is), and the complete abandonment of the flock by our Catholic “leadership”, which has thrown in entirely with the other side. We know they are largely the wolves, and we are left feeling defenseless. American Catholics have had the experience of watching the decline and fall of our church and our country, both in very short order. I never thought at any point the rapid and bizarre ascendancy of Barack Obama, a senator of 3 months who started running for the office as the leader of the Free World, and the election of Jorge Bergoglio, was a coincidence, both occurring at the same time, was a coincidence.
I don’t know what’s coming. My usual fairly good radar of future world events is fritzing in and out.
I’m watching people I thought on the side of good switch horses and start speaking nonsense. Sensing the changing tides they have decided they are on the wrong side of power and have jumped ship, mouthing platitudes they would never have uttered 4 weeks ago. It’s disconcerting. This is more in the political world.
I would say generally these are no ordinary days. We seem likely to see a president declare Martial Law or invoke the Insurrection Act, against the obvious coup we are watching in real time. I feel like I’m standing around, slack-jawed, not sure of what to do except treat each day like it was the one before. Spiritually I’m struggling. Anybody else feel that way? It’s hard for me to relax. Hard for me to pray. The supernatural world seems very far away, yet oddly close, at the same time.
Harder times may be coming friends. Except for divine intervention it is impossible to imagine anything we can do except whatever we can to defend our homeland and what we know is right and good.

Dear friends, we have to stop going along to get along!!!!
In CA, the restrictions bc of covid are so over the top. We must believe all of the “data” that they spew out. None of what they say is corroborated. My goodness, we were given a brain by our Lord, lets use it. CA will have stay at home orders until January! Oh yes, we can have Mass outside ( 43F) with wind, rain or snow. But that’s it. I am so saddened by our “shepherds” who keep this lie going. They are instilling fear nothing more. This mornings Mass was held in the parking lot, while sitting in our cars with radio tuned in. I didn’t want to attend bc it would will look like I support this behavior. My husband really wanted to receive Jesus so we stayed. Afterwards he said he was wrong. This is not right. People, we must say NO! The more we appease the beast the worse it will get.
I will not take the vaccine. I will not be told that if I want food, I have to take the vaccine (made from baby body parts). I will not accept this fraudulent election with the mountain of evidence I have seen. I will not!!
Stand up brothers and sisters. This is WAR.

Victura98 your comment “ Gods hero’s have always been small meek and unafraid”.. perfectly describes the Indian-woman from Detroit who worked the polls and testified about the fraud that took place while doing so.. I was moved to tears watching her ..she was so honest so humble so soft spoken and at the end spoke of being a devoutCatholic ..how she loved Jesus and the Rosary..I cannot convey what a beautiful witness for GOD she was..she is the lead engineer for Detroit ..her 3 children are all doctors and her husband sat next to her while she testified..Watching her I loved her and truly wish I knew her personally. The democrat man called her a liar and the black female democrat outed her when she demanded her full name including her maiden name..she told them she meant no harm to anyone that she had been a citizen of America for 35 years and deeply loved America and only wanted to help in the election..she had been treated horrifically. I often wish I had a book of all the Blessed Mothers messages from Medjugore..I know many and one in particular certainly applies to these 2 Democrats..” hell is empty..all the demons are here”. Again Charlie I will say I’ve read your post from the beginning and saw you in Michigan ..you were right on your timing just a little off.. the battle rages and how incredible it is watching GOD expose the evil. I believe Trump will prevail as it is so clear GOD is using him to bring this country and world back to HIM. What a time GOD put us in to know love and serve HIM.We must be strong and courageous stand for GOD and his truth..Personally I’ve had enough of the evil I will not back down and I will not be silent..We must stand now or live as slaves under communism..It is hard to truly believe this has happened to our beautiful country..but it has…..I have been reading articles and listening to interviews on a site called “Natural News” by Mike Adams..I listened to an interview with Jeffrey Prather and many others. It truly is.
In all institutional spheres, church, culture,, government, politics, the number of “of God” leaders is vanishingly small. The “not of God” leaders , while retaining their titles, are rapidly losing or have entirely lost the allegiance of those “of God”.
While I am loathe to trust my perceptions of prophecy (tidal waves wiping out Miami, anyone?) I admit to seeing Charlie’s vision of everything lost in one week, starting with cries of “don’t panic” to the realization that “it is over” by weeks end appears to my eyes as the fastest and cleanest way forward.
I say this knowing that I percieve this as the ruin of the “not of God” order; as Fr. Ripperger’s prayer of consecration of exterior goods to Mary makes clear, it could be the end of the “of God” order in Christendom, i.e the end of Christendom, for the greater glory of God in time and eternity.
However, I believe the former outlook is correct. Christ established His kingdom while here on earth, and leaven is gonna leaven the entirety of it.
Grace and peace to all here.

Recently went to a sub shop to order a couple of sandwiches after the power outage. But based on what I saw, I drove home without ordering, called the sub shop to have my sandwiches delivered, and reported to the guy on the phone and the delivery driver what I’d seen just to make them aware. Keep in mind that it’s been my habit for at least a year now to go pick up subs from this place and there were never any problems.
I parked the car in the spacious parking lot and got out my cell phone to place a quick order from the car and then just walk in a few minutes later to pick up the food. However, right after I pulled in, a group of six or more high school or college kids all started walking across the parking lot right towards my car. They were of different races, girls and guys. Earlier this summer, there had been a mild Black Lives Matter protest right across the street from this parking lot.
Now if the group of kids had been walking across the parking lot in the direction of a store or restaurant, even the same restaurant I was going to, that would have felt perfectly normal. But coming straight towards my car? Where they could possibly surround me? My gut instinct told me to calmly drive away before they got too close. Better safe than sorry … Especially these days.
As I drove away, the group of kids started playfully roughhousing with each other …

That is a good reminder, especially in the current climate, the phoenix. Let’s be careful out there. ❤

Yep!!! As Always!! This Time of Year, of many distractions, be very careful where you go, park and what kind of vehicles are nearby …. coming & going from shopping.
Never park by vans and/or any vehicle with darkened windows. If a suspicious car/van is parked by you get an escort!
Try to avoid night time shopping. Safety in numbers, keep your head on a swivel and if your 6th sense is giving off Bad Vibes … Believe!
GOD PROTECT & SAVE ALL HERE!!

Crewdog, your comment makes me sad for our world. My life growing up was free as a bird, we did our work helping on the farm and then doing cattle and hog chores.
Then I’d ride my little pony Princess 8 miles to the nearest town, hoof around there and then go visit, on my horse a friend who lived a few miles from town. All without worry, my folks never worried about me either! I’d be gone all afternoon! What a great (yet very monetarily poor as there were 9 of us) CHILDHOOD I had! I wonder if anyone out there now can say the same who are 15-20 years younger. I am 62 to give you a marker as to where I am coming from. OR unless Crewdog you are being facetious? Haha!

One of my favorite Tolkien quotes, Rick Bookwalter! 🙂
Along with:
“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

Thanks for posting your quote, Rick!

From Archbishop Vigano:
We, believers in Christ Our Only Lord, have no reason to fear, even against all human reason: we know that, reborn in Baptism, we are no longer servants but children of God, and that by preserving the friendship of our Lord with Grace we can trust in Him, in His provident help, in His powerful protection.
Ultimately, this is true freedom: the freedom of the children of God, who obey His law not out of fear but out of love, not out of compulsion but because in adhering to the divine will they will find their own perfect fulfillment and their complete realization.
For every soul is created for the greater glory of God, for eternal bliss as a reward of fidelity to the Savior.
Don’t let our hearts be troubled!
The maneuvers of those who work in darkness are coming to light, showing themselves in all their horror and revealing their perverse and infernal matrix.
Lies, deceptions, violence, death: this is the harsh reality of evil before which people of good will can only be horrified.
If Our Lord deigns to listen to the prayers of His children, this castle of lies and fraud will collapse miserably, and its architects will have to go back into hiding to escape the rigors of justice and the execration of peoples.
These are decisive hours: we continue to pray, to recite the Holy Rosary, to nourish ourselves with the Most Holy Eucharist, to do penance.
The choral voice that rises up to the throne of the divine Majesty will not remain unheard.
Let us not be discouraged, because it is in the moment of trial that the Lord gives us the opportunity to show our trust in Him and to see the greatness of His mercy.
“Whatsoever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (Jn 14, 13). Our Lord told us clearly: anything.
We therefore ask the Father, in the name of the Son our Lord and Redeemer, through the intercession of His most holy Mother our powerful mediator, to show His glory, to grant the exaltation of Holy Church, peace and prosperity to the Christian peoples, the conversion of sinners, the defeat of His enemies.
“God arises, and his enemies will be scattered, and those who hate him will flee before him” (Psalm 68:1).
+ Carlo Maria Viganò, Archbishop

I looked up the meaning of ‘Execration’, it is quite strong.
From Dict.org….
Execration \Ex`e*cra”tion\, n. [L. execratio, exsecratio: cf. F.
ex[‘e]cration.]
1. The act of cursing; a curse dictated by violent feelings
of hatred; imprecation; utter detestation expressed.
[1913 Webster]
Cease, gentle, queen, these execrations. –Shak.
[1913 Webster]
2. That which is execrated; a detested thing.
[1913 Webster]
Ye shall be an execration and . . . a curse. –Jer.
xlii. 18.
Syn: See Malediction.
[1913 Webster]
About sums up my reaction to these detestable fiends.
I feel more at ease kowing Abp. Vigano accepts these feelings. ‘Exacration is not tolerance!”
Some have tried to advance tolerance of the execrable as virtue; they have failed.
On a related note,
Unlike the “Dear Lord teach me to play dead like a possum” genre of modern prayer, this modified Psalm per Bp Gracida excoriates the exerable. This morning I substituted “Christendom” For “President Donald Trump” and it flowed off the tongue wonderfully. You may find it invigorating too.
“Please pray this prayer everyday for President Trump form Bishop Rene Gracida:
A Prayer for Deliverance Of President Donald Trump from Enemies
Based on A Psalm of David.
Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with President Donald Trump;
fight against those who fight against him!
2
Take hold of shield and buckler,
and rise for his help!
3
Draw the spear and javelin
against his pursuers!
Say to his soul,
“I am your deliverance!”
4
Let them be put to shame and dishonor
who seek after his life!
Let them be turned back and confounded
who devise evil against him!
5
Let them be like chaff before the wind,
with the angel of the Lord driving them on!
6
Let their way be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the Lord pursuing them!
7
For without cause they hid their net for him;
without cause they dug a pit[a] for his life.
8
Let ruin come upon them unawares!
And let the net which they hid ensnare them;
let them fall therein to ruin!
9
Then his soul shall rejoice in the Lord,
exulting in his deliverance.
10
All his bones shall say,
“O Lord, who is like thee,
thou who delivers the weak
from those who are too strong for him,
the weak and needy from him who despoils him?”
11
Malicious witnesses rise up;
they accuse him of things that he knows not.
12
They requite him evil for good.
15
But at his stumbling they gathered in glee,
they gathered together against him;
cripples whom he knew not
slandered him without ceasing;
16
they impiously mocked more and more,[c]
gnashing at him with their teeth.
17
How long, O Lord, wilt thou look on?
Rescue him from the ravages
from the lions!
18
Then I will thank thee in the great congregation;
in the mighty throng I will praise thee.
19
Let not those rejoice over him
who are wrongfully his foes,
and let not those wink the eye
who hate him without cause.
20
For they do not speak peace,
but against those who are quiet in the land
they conceive words of deceit.
21
They open wide their mouths against him;
they say, “Aha, Aha!
our eyes have seen it!”
22
Thou hast seen, O Lord; be not silent!
O Lord, be not far from him!
23
Bestir thyself, and awake for his right,
for his cause, my God and my Lord!
24
Vindicate him, O Lord, my God, according to thy righteousness;
and let them not rejoice over him!
25
Let them not say to themselves,
“Aha, we have our heart’s desire!”
Let them not say, “We have swallowed him up.”
26
Let them be put to shame and confusion altogether
who rejoice at his calamity!
Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor
who magnify themselves against him!
27
Let those who desire his vindication
shout for joy and be glad,
and say evermore,
“Great is the Lord,
who delights in the welfare of his servant!”
28
Then my tongue shall tell of thy righteousness
and of thy praise all the day long.”
.grace and peace

This is impressive!!!
I don’t know who the author is, but they put a Lot of clever thought and work into this!!!
Basic message: let’s all keep Christ in, and our reason to smile and be joyful for Christmas, especially this year!!!
FULL SPEED AHEAD TO BEING JOYFUL!!!
This made me smile this morning, I hope it does for you too.
Blessings to you and yours, -kevin-
Fwd:
T’was a month before Christmas
And all through the town,
People wore masks
That covered their frown.
The frown had begun
Way back in the Spring,
When a global pandemic
Changed everything.
They called it corona,
But unlike the beer,
It didn’t bring good times,
It didn’t bring cheer.
Contagious and deadly,
This virus spread fast,
Like a wildfire that starts
When fueled by gas.
Airplanes were grounded,
Travel was banned.
Borders were closed
Across air, sea and land.
As the world entered lockdown
To flatten the curve,
The economy halted,
And folks lost their verve.
From March to July
We rode the first wave,
People stayed home,
They tried to behave.
When summer emerged
The lockdown was lifted.
But away from caution,
Many folks drifted.
Now it’s November
And cases are spiking,
Wave two has arrived,
Much to our disliking.
Frontline workers,
Doctors and nurses,
Try to save people,
From riding in hearses.
This virus is awful,
This COVID-19.
There isn’t a cure.
We can’t get vaccine.
It’s true that this year
Has had sadness a plenty,
We’ll never forget
The year 2020.
And just ‘round the corner –
The holiday season,
But why be merry?
Is there even one reason?
To decorate the house
And put up the tree,
When no one will see it,
No-one but me.
But outside my window
The snow gently falls,
And I think to myself,
Let’s deck the halls!
So, I gather the ribbon,
The garland and bows,
As I play those old carols,
My happiness grows.
Christmas ain’t cancelled
And neither is hope.
If we lean on each other,
I know we can cope.

2020: time to play Christmas carols, especially religious ones, now as an act of solidarity against those who would wish to kill our joy in the return of Our Baby King.
“The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices. Open the gates before him, lift up your voices”
He came to fight for us, to save us. Let us sing joyfully in expectation this year. (I usually play carols much closer to Christmas, but this year is different 🙂 )

My first thought when seeing the Pic of The Ark on stormy seas with the heading about “Full Speed Ahead’ was: It’s tough to go full speed ahead with no stinkin’ motor ….. but quickly figured out that The Motor is The Holy Spirit and with Him, we may go very quickly indeed!

Does anyone here doubt that the PLA has their dirty fingers in our 2020 Election?
…. and besides China Joe, how many other DeepState Politicians, State & Fed, are “owned” by China?
For instance, I’d bet that Missin’ Mitt … AKA: Pierre Delecto …. has more going on than just a personal hatred of Trump. Possibility in next four years of serious “Daylight” on his overseas business ops perhaps?

Just getting back to reading and discerning again. After my mom died on November 28, was spending time with family and funeral, etc. My mom led a good legacy, praying me out of hell when I deserved to go there, she and my dad. Our family came together in a loving way to support each other during this whole process. I posted today that mom did not hold grudges and several family members who were once on the outlaw list became again valued and loved family members before my mom died. I am sure she will be part of those praying for us during these sad but important times. Lately I have again felt the importance of prayer by Rosaries and by other means to help implore the Divine Help we will all need.

As for the real truth of the election, I am reminded again of the prayer of Suzanna, who was being led to death by lying and deceitful men and of how God raised up the spirit in Daniel to know of falsehood and to have the courage to call it out. I do believe, apart from some, who have the ability to know and to have the courage to call out the truth, whatever it is, error will prevail. May God again and again if needed send forth His Spirit of strength and of courage to those who need it most and to all of us to the extent that we too need these gifts. BTW. The real ark was no clipper ship but a rectangular boat which depended on the breath of God to move it about as needed.

Here’s something funny regarding CORAC to be filed in the “it’s a small world” category. I was speaking to the coordinator in my Desert Cactus region this morning and she mentioned the coordinator in the Mountain region as if I somehow knew her. Turns out I do know the Mountain region coordinator, since she’s my wife’s cousin. Met her once at a family Christmas party about two decades ago. [queue the “it’s a small world” music, or maybe “twilight zone” theme here]
