Comes the Sword

By Charlie Johnston

“I come not to bring peace, but a sword.” – Matthew 10:34

We had a great National Conference. Bishop Strickland not only gave a great talk, but was there all three days interacting individually with people. We’ll give you a full rundown in our CORAC Newsletter at the end of the month.

*********

I told you  that, back in September of 2023, I was shown that God was gathering all the cultural vandals who have so plagued us into high places – from where they would be cast down suddenly and compellingly. It’s a pretty good description of what is happening this year – and is the reason I don’t get all bent out of shape over the godless left’s latest antics to try to cushion their fall. I believe it has been decreed from heaven and will not be stopped, so I pay it little mind, save for curiosity’s sake. There is a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth, though, isn’t there?

I also told you that, in the darkness just before the Easter Vigil in 2008, the Lord seemed to come to me and say, “Now the hour of darkness comes upon the world. But be not afraid: the darkness will not prevail.” At the time, it had the feel of the Agony in the Garden to it and led me to deeply contemplate the same. I have come to believe that Jesus’ prime source of agony was His knowledge that, despite the magnitude of what He was about to accomplish, many people would still reject Him. It is, indeed, a sorrowful thing to see so many people going needlessly to their own destruction (and so mistakenly self-righteous in the process).

For decades – the ‘60s, ‘70s, and much of the ‘80s, I pleaded with the Lord to show everybody what I was being shown. I figured if He did, surely people would turn back from the abyss. As it has been happening in real time over the last decade and, rather than repenting, so many are just doubling down on their crazed dysfunction, I see how very wrong I always was on this matter. The Lord always knows – even when we think we know a better way.

I have been contemplating Judas a lot these days. I have been convinced for nearly 40 years that Judas actually DID believe Jesus to be the Messiah. His problem was that he expected a politico-military Messiah like all Israel did at the time. I think he got tired of traipsing around the desert and wanted to get this show on the road. His betrayal was not so much a denial of Christ as it was an effort to force Christ’s hand to reveal and use His mighty power to conquer Rome. If this is the case, then the question is, what was the actual sin of Judas? It is an urgent question – to which we had all best attend with alacrity.

Judas did not seek to follow God. Rather, he sought to co-opt God’s supreme power to impose his own favored program. When Judas followed Jesus, he did not think, “Now I have found the way.” Instead, he thought, “Now I have found the means to get MY way.” And thinking that, Jesus told him it would be better for him if he had never been born. Think hard about that.

Who were the people who demanded Jesus’ execution most angrily and forcefully? It was those who were most overtly religious. It was not just religious authorities, but all the seemingly most pious Jews.

This brings me to a point I keep hammering away on. The anti-god left has already sealed their fate. Except for those who might yet come to complete repentance, they are doomed. It is not they who are being sifted. They already have been. This year it is us who think ourselves faithful who are being sifted.

There are a LOT of Judases among us, people who are convinced that God is now going to enforce their will rather than teach them His. There are those who insist the Latin Mass is the only valid Mass. If they don’t quit insisting and start listening they are doomed – as doomed as the anti-god left. There are those who insist the Latin Mass must be suppressed to enforce their own brand of unity. If they don’t quit insisting and start listening they are doomed. There are those who insist that Vatican II was a false council and the cause of all our problems. If they were right that a solemn council of the whole Church could err in its conclusions, it would mean that Christ was wrong about hell prevailing against the Church. If Christ was wrong, He is not God. If He is not God, our faith is in vain and we are following a false Church. Of course, neither Christ was wrong nor is the Church wrong in the conclusions of its solemn council. I write this piece to show what a box canyon these shallow theologians have gotten themselves into. If they are right, the Church is not the True Church. If they are wrong, they have badly separated themselves from the True Church. They twist themselves into a lose-lose proposition.

I understand their point: it is because the so-called “spirit of Vatican II” that so many dissidents have twisted and embraced is a pack of lies and heresies – that has almost no connection to the actual Documents of Vatican II. And yet I find that at least 90% of those who want to argue most vociferously with me over Vatican II have never read a single actual document from the council. They are fighting the same lies and heresies I am, but they wrongly think that is what Vatican II was. As the Lord might say, woe to you who speak rashly without knowledge.

There are hundreds of such bugaboos…and many of the faithful have held tightly to them as the panacea that will solve everything and set everything right. The question now becomes, what are people going to do when the Lord corrects them? Will they angrily refuse to believe in or follow a God who won’t do it their way? If so, they are lost – and many will not serve if God contradicts them in a fundamental way.

I know now how useless it was for me to ask that the Lord show everyone what He was showing me for all those decades. I was completely mistaken about the effect it would have. But I find myself wishing now that the Lord had disciplined and corrected everyone as vociferously as He has disciplined and corrected me over the years. I am terribly afraid that many people who could make it won’t because they are so sure they know exactly what God wants and have set their feet in cement that that is the only way it can be. Please, be prepared to take correction. His yoke is easy and His corrections are usually gentle, if pointed. But woe unto those who arch their back at God in the name of God. It is they who fall the hardest.

Be charitable with others and be rigorous and demanding of yourself. It may save your very soul as we go through this pivotal year.

For over four years, CORAC helped facilitate people getting Ivermectin when the “experts” and medical establishment were trying to suppress it to justify their toxic Covid shots. I am very proud of that. In at least four cases I am convinced we saved peoples’ lives. Certainly, we had more than a few people who were hovering in the vicinity of death make incredible recoveries after we facilitated them getting their Ivermectin.

Now the walls are tumbling down. You can order Ivermectin right from Amazon. I’m talking about the good stuff, too, the 12-mg tabs. I did order it for myself – and it is the real thing. At one point those boxes of 100 12-mg tabs we would get out had a street value of over $1,800 (good thing we never charged, eh?) but now it is down under $90 on Amazon. So, you will have to make your own arrangements henceforth, But I will keep the link handy for you.

This was one of the biggest programs CORAC ever adopted – and it was primarily because of my scheduler, Mary Lapchak and her late husband, Mark; and Region 10 Coordinators Joe and Connie Brickner that we were able to afford to help so many through their trial when their government and medical communities were assaulting them. But the walls are tumbling now.

Our Executive Director at CORAC, MP, was going over some stats with me and told me something that flummoxed me. I do an interview program called Crosstalk, which is a joint project of WSFI Radio in Chicago and CORAC. I think it is the finest broadcast work I have done since my old days in radio. It is doing well on the radio channels – but MP told me it is not getting much traction on the CORAC website. That is just bizarre to me. It’s seriously good stuff. The last interview I did was with Captain Christopher Kuehne, one of the J6 prisoners who was pretty clearly railroaded by the Biden Administration’s Injustice Dept. Kuehne is a decorated Marine and a great patriot.

I am going to be talking next week with the head of an Archdiocesan Tribunal. I do it twice a month and try to work with a significant religious figure – or on a subject that people don’t know enough about – and then do an interview with a significant public figure on an issue of ongoing interest and import. These go beyond just a lick and a promise. I’m going to highlight them here much more often – and hope that CORAC members start getting as much out of them as radio listeners are. They are set in a hybrid podcast/radio format so you can watch and listen to them or just listen to them. I hope CORAC members discover these and how much ground they actually cover.

I have been bemused watching the Jeffrey Epstein controversy unfold – just as the Justice Dept. actually has opened up the floodgates and look to be getting the conspirators behind the Russian Collusion hoax – which was really an ongoing coup attempt.

My hopes on the Epstein issue were never terribly high. Biden and the Democrats had control of all the files for four years – and publicly ignored them. That gave the fraudsters on the left plenty of time to embed things similar to the Steele Dossier to bowdlerize the files…and we know the FBI tried to bury and hide much of the material in the New York office. Whatever is in the Grand Jury file would have some actual value – because it was completed and sealed before Biden and Company took over. But, of course, while Democrats are screaming to release the files, a Democrat Judge said, “Not that file,” and blocked their release. As usual, the left is only interested in trying to leverage things for partisan purposes.

But I’m thinking Trump may be pulling off another of his patented 5D chess moves. We knew, objectively from the evidence, that while there are probably a couple of Republicans involved, this was overwhelmingly a Democrat power-broker scandal. Trump got the Dems to scream for release of the files…and then turned the tables on them by pushing the Grand Jury material that was sealed before Biden could taint it AND opening up interviews with Ghislaine Maxwell – who was the main facilitator. Watch for hard evidence to start being released and for Dems to start screaming to shut it down.

As for the Russian Collusion Coup Attempt, DNI Director Tulsi Gabbard has brought the receipts and I, for one, think a lot of people are going down for this seditious conspiracy that was ordered by Barack Obama, himself. It will show anew just how difficult it is to sustain an actual malevolent conspiracy for any length of time.

*********

I got a lot of mail from people after I wrote the piece about the Kennedy Assassination being a case of malign neglect by the CIA. Each wanted to know if I had read their favorite conspiracy tome. I was a Kennedy conspiracy buff until the late ‘70s. Then I noticed that, besides contradicting each other ridiculously, almost every conspiracy theory set out one blatantly false set of facts and then leaned into it for the whole book. Even New Orleans DA Jim Garrison’s famous “Magic Bullet” depended on Gov. John Connally’s jump seat being placed over six inches more to the right than it actually was for his “magic bullet” nonsense to be true. Where the seat was actually placed, the bullet behaved well within the range of what you would expect from a high-caliber bullet on that trajectory. It was seeming more and more to be impenetrable nonsense to me. I gave up for a while. The first book that brought some forensic soundness back to the process was Gerald Posner’s Case Closed. Still, though it stuck to the hard evidence, there were what I thought to be a couple of soft spots in it.

When Vincent Bugliose’s massive and masterful Reclaiming History came out, I was completely satisfied. I did not really do justice to what Bugliose (also the prosecutor who got Charlie Manson) accomplished. Besides meticulously examining every iota of forensic evidence and timeline possibilities, Bugliose also ended by taking up all the major conspiracy theories and laying waste to them. Some of the authors of books my correspondents cited to me fell apart when they were examined under oath.

Some people love a good conspiracy. They happen. But I love facts and evidence more. You do whatever you want. I will not go through more conspiracy theories line by line – because I wasted a decade and a half doing just that – and I’m not willing to waste any more time after thoroughly covering the issue. Lee Oswald killed Kennedy from the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository. I am satisfied that that is the truth.

Interestingly, the only credible conspiracy theory that did not do serious (or any) violence to the proven forensics in the case was a work of fiction. It is entitled The Third Bullet by Stephen Hunter.

Now, some 60+ years later, many people who thought they were going to be titans of their age have realized that their dreams never came to pass – and are looking for one more bite at the apple of notoriety. I even once had (30 some years ago) a fellow tell me he had killed Kennedy. He was brought to me by a usually credible source – but it broke down under my questioning of even the limited facts I knew at the time. Do not be fooled by footnotes and supposed eyewitness testimony that was not documented near the time. The biggest fraudsters I know use lots of footnotes. You have to check the footnotes if you’re doing serious research. Some of them are so badly fraudulent it is downright comical.

It occupies peoples’ time – and everybody has to have a hobby. But I will not talk seriously to anyone about the Kennedy assassination unless they have studied Reclaiming History. If you haven’t grappled with that, you are not a researcher, but a kibitzer. I don’t mind. I have met a lot of very interesting kibitzers. But facts and evidence must carry the day.

Sorry it has been so long since I last wrote here. I have had several major challenges that I had to get under control. I will not (God willing) get so deep in the tall grass again.

  1. I have the greatest patience for the timing of your writing, Charlie. There simply are seasons of overwhelm with the duties on your plate.

Not only is Ivermectin available on Amazon, you can order the accompanying book entitled: The Ivermectin Miracle. 🙂

Smilingly and quietly, I also notice with the Russian Collusion Hoax being fully exposed in ways that formerly hidden details are now coming to light, the idea that there never was a peaceful transfer of power has certainly been affirmed. Silly me for initially thinking it was all about a day, Inauguration Day 2017, while all along – as soon as Trump was victor in the 2016 election – a wicked, traitorous plan became a p.r.o.c.e.s.s. unfolding before us.

At this juncture, I do believe it would be worthy to carve this on our hearts and sing it in the bathroom each morning: “Be charitable with others and be rigorous and demanding of yourself. It may save your very soul as we go through this pivotal year.”

Lastly, but not least, we are living it:

    1. “Silly me.” Ha, Beckita, the error you cite is one of the most common errors I make. The language of eternity is not the language of this world – and understanding it is hard. Knowing that is a beginning of wisdom – a sort that glib purveyors of shallow prophecy will never get, unless they repent of their vanity.

Glorious ending, too. My two favorite songs from when I was a kid were the Battle Hymn of the Republic (done magnificently in your link) and Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata (actually titled Sonata Quasi Una Fantasia). Though I have come to highly esteem his Pathetique Sonata, as well.

      1. Those ” common errors” are just part of the human condition. Heck, even angels make mistakes! The Apostles showed no shortage and Judas was claimed ( by mystics) to be in the lowest portion of Hell, not because he could not repent of what he did (even Peter denied the Lord that night but repented) but because of how hard both Jesus and Mary tried to convince him not to go that way. The great graces Judas denied sent him low. (” To whom much is given, much is expected “) and as an Apostle, Judas was offered a place of authority over the 12 Tribes. “You are those who have stood by me in my trials. And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me, so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” (Luke 28). He was also shown the secrets of the Kingdom not shown to other men. It is not so hard to believe Judas fell from a high place of grace out of pure malice, not so very different than the fallen angels who chose “not to serve” despite being pure intellect and will. If he had purely made a blooper, the concept of his low position in Hell would sound unreasonable but as a Prince of the Church, it is more believable thus Jesus saying it would be better if he had never been born makes more sense.

  2. Charlie, the conference was so needed for me–and I think my husband is finally on-board with Corac because of it! We met some wonderful people and heard from great speakers (though a lot of the information was sobering). God bless you for all you do! And God bless all the members who put together such a great conference. 🐿

    1. Get back to me when you have actually studied “Reclaiming History” and can grapple with it. The intensity with which one believes something that does not hold up to scrutiny does NOT make it true. I have looked not just seriously, but exhaustively, at the evidence. There are some things that could be, but I follow where the evidence leads – after exhaustively studying that evidence. I have read the books where a guy treated the shadow of a thumb holding an X-Ray to be a bullet…or a tumor…or whatever. I have read where a clown breathlessly put up half of every page to footnotes – most leading to things that didn’t exist. I have read how Johnson dived to the floor of his car before Kennedy was even hit – and how the author painfully omitted that the first bullet hit no one, but that Johnson’s Secret Service Agent was an avid outdoorsman who recognized the sound and threw Johnson to the floor.

Look Luke, I’m sure you are a fine fellow and it is no skin off my nose if you choose to believe in something I believe is false. I DO now believe there was a conspiracy – a conspiracy to ignore the nutcases who were out there gunning for Kennedy. Coincidentally, that theory fits the actual mass of facts.

      1. I will read reclaiming history. But the Zapruder film and the testimony of the Parkland Hospital. Doctors say that Kennedy was hit at least twice from the front. Lee Harvey Oswald was in a building behind Kennedy.

        Liked by 1 person

        1. A Parkland Hospital Doctor said that – decades after it happened. The actual autopsy – and photos of the skull cavitation proved that the wound to the back and the back of the head were both entry wounds and the wounds exiting the neck and skull to the front were both exit wounds. The doctor who made that claim was deposed and utterly collapsed at the story he tried to make up to make himself famous. Kennedy was NEVER hit from the front. If you are talking about the famous head snap to the back, go frame by frame and his head first went forward. Most believe it was a neuro-muscular reaction. They did a test with monkeys making similar wounds (I’m not cool with the morality of that, but the did it.) One out of ten monkeys shot in the back of the head with a high-powered rifle from that angle suffered the same neuro-muscular reaction.

I think you will come away with a different view after reading Reclaiming History.

    1. I am so sorry. The wrong link went up. I do not know what happened. I removed the bad link – but then I had to try 7 times before the WordPress account would put up the proper link. Maybe there is still some suppression efforts going on.

Just in case, what you are looking for on Amazon is from Sanare Lab – Ivermectin 12 MG. I’m looking at the ingredients on the bottle right now – and the active ingredient in each tablet is 12 mg of Ivermectin.

Thank you for noting this. Clarifying by hand what people need to look for may help you not get something else. I have checked and double-checked the link this time. At this time it is correct – but I will check it again tomorrow.

      1. Great as always, Charlie; it’s like Christmas morning! I do wonder if the Iver. comes in a lesser dosage from a good company, as I would like to take it as maintenance. I’ve read that a nurse does that, and so many accounts of healings (from a good dr.) when people take it for one thing and find it has cured something else. One example was arthritis.

I’ll be re-reading the content cause there’s so much to absorb and mull over, and also to be hopeful about! But I certainly agree that it is a time of testing for us! I have found over many decades that belonging to the Blessed Mother is an extremely valuable help in being molded to want God’s ordaining will in major prayer intentions, rather than have a fixed outcome in mind. I’m going through that now. Come Holy Spirit!!

  7. I do not believe that Vatican II was a false council. I also do not believe that it was the source of all the problems. However, one cannot argue that the fruits of Vatican II are rotten. One does not have to assert that the gates of hell prevailed against the church to accept that fallen corrupt weak mean led the council. One also can accept that these men did many awful things in the name of Vatican II. The greatest glaring example of this is the Novus Ordo Mass. I am not asserting that it is in any way invalid, but it was assuredly NOT the Mass that the Vatican II documents called for. The Vatican II council was a pastoral council, yet it has been referred to as if it were some kind of ‘super dogmatic council’ that would be the be all that ends all. A recently released study has even gone farther and laid more blame at the hands of the bishops in their implementation of the Vatican II council.

Most of us accept that the NO is a valid Mass. Many do not and the arguments they make are many and not all of them are without merit. I do not accept that the Masses are equal. They cannot be. The Latin Mass movement is a youth movement and the fight over which will survive is over. The average age of NO parishes are growing older and older as the average age of TLM parishes are far more representative of a growing church. The vocations per capita coming from TLM parishes are light years better than NO parishes. Even where vocations in a certain diocese are high like my Tyler Diocese, it is because of the definitive drift back to orthodoxy and tradition.

One does not have to accept that the devil has won or that Christ was in any way wrong to reject the fruits of the council and the method in which the bishops implemented said council. On the contrary, if we indeed are to be sifted inside the church, perhaps the parishes where confession lines are long, Church teachings are clearly taught, and the world has to conform the Church may be a better place to be than in parishes where the pastors give homilies in support of BLM, illegal immigration, and the thermometer problem. I am sure there are NO parishes that fit that bill, but they are not numerous relative to the church, where as those conditions are nearly universal in TLM parishes.

The Church should be the rock that the passions of a modern society breaks upon, not a modernist institution that seeks to ride the waves of these passions. This is where many of us view the fruits of Vatican II and have consciously chosen Tradition and the rock that is the Church over the Surfboard of Modernism.

    1. Such a pity that many continue to pit the TLM against the NO. They ARE equal in their allowance which stems from legal Church authority which sets the guidelines and rules for each form of the Mass. They ARE equal in worshiping the Lord as we obey the 4th Commandment in keeping holy the Sabbath day. That said, by the Church herself and not my mere opinion, the NO and TLM do have differences in their rubrics (rules and guidelines). We cannot forget that – according to Mother Church herself – BOTH are valid forms of the Mass in the Roman Rite, the dominant Rite, which is but one of multiple valid Rites in the Catholic Church. We cannot forget the legitimate Byzantine, Chaldean, Armenian, among additional liturgical Rites within the Catholic Church. It’s not only the TLM and NO which vary in their rubrics as the Mass is offered.

I’m grateful the Church allows for the various liturgical Rites and I stand with what the Church legitimately teaches and endorses. How wonderful that people like you, David, appreciate the TLM. My hope and prayer is that Pope Leo sets right what was unjustly removed when Pope Francis began the canceling of the TLM throughout the world.

My closing thought concerns what Charlie has conveyed in this piece about Judas’ great error in wanting to take things into his own hands. He reminds me of the ways of the Israelites who would NOT bend the knee to God’s Plan for them. They whined and complained and blamed God for the mess in which they found themselves. Our Church is a mess in many ways, but I do not want to repeat the history of our ancestors in the faith by telling God how he SHOULD be acting to clean up the mess. My mind and heart are focused on how the Teaching Magisterium and the legitimate authority within the Church are guiding us. Even with the bad actors still all over the place, I see God moving among His people to make things new. Rather than wandering around in our contemporary desert insisting that He would move things in MY way, I’m determined to stay low, allowing Mother Church to guide us, even when I think I may have a better idea.

      1. The vast majority of TLM adherents were content with being left alone. Francis’ legacy of making war on these people is a truly sad state. Did you know that an average TLM family creates a Catholic parish every 3-4 generations? Why would people have a problem with this? Even with TC in effect, TLM is growing by 30% a year. As I alluded to before, TLM families have a fertility rate between 3.6-5.7 depending on the study you use, the NO is under 2.

Is it the Mass? Is it the priest? Or is the Glory and Majesty of Holy Mother Church more evident? One thing that is obvious is that the TLM is growing and the NO is not. There is no escaping that fact.

I personally think the ‘spirit of Vatican II’ is gasping its last gasp before the Church corrects this nonsense. Time is not on their side.

        Liked by 3 people

        1. And I pray, David, that devotion to the “Spirit of Vatican II” will be replaced with reverence for the Documents of Vatican II. You know, after deciding to seriously consider the Catholic Church, when I entered RCIA I lapped up over 20 books trying to find the catch in this one (Church Fathers, Encyclicals, various and sundry.) The FIRST thing I read were the Documentws of Vatican II. I was mesmerized – and it propelled me deeper into my conviction to seek entry into the Church. You can imagine my surprise, dismay, and disgust later as I heard all sort of heretical nonsense being justified as part of the “Spirit of Vatican II.”

Reading the actual documents was the gateway through which I entered fully into the Church. It offends me deeply that the satan has so successfully convinced people of so many things that have NO support among the documents and are often, contraindicated. Frankly, the late Pope Francis’ efforts to suppress the Latin Mass were a direct repudiation of Vatican II (the actual documents, not the perniciously, mythical spirit.)

          1. Knowing that you are data driven, what do you make of the recent secular study that claims to demonstrate that Vatican 2 “triggered” (i.e. caused) the dramatic decline in faith and practice?

            1. First, though LifeSite does a lot of good work, it largely pushes a narrative, some of which I agree with, much of which I do not.

Second, correlation is not to be confused with causation. I wrote in a previous comment that massive dissent among clerics had been building since at least the ’40s and probably before. “Theologians” like Karl Rauner had been pushing, effectively, that our faith was a joke and largely a superstition. If you watch the trajectory of the dissenters’ push for power and influence, it was practically guaranteed to erupt in the mid ’60s or, at least, by the early ’70s. That, I believe, is the cause. If it were not for Vatican II available as a handy scapegoat to bowdlerize, they would have found something else – perhaps even something as pernicious as the “theology” of Karl Rauner (God forbid!)

Third, that this organization tracked the decline beginning in 1965 undermines, rather than supports, the organization’s thesis. On cultural and social matters, things do not work like in engineering where immediately on getting an input the reaction takes place. There is a lag of at least several years – and often several decades – before the affected peoples absorb what has happened and begin responding. If the decline had begun in 1968, it would be equally likely that it was either Vatican II or the spirit of dissent that had been building for decades – and would require much more study.

Fourth, if the Church can err in a solemn Council of all the Bishops, what happens to divine assurance? The Church has always taught that the assurances of a Council may be incomplete due to our fallibility, but they would not be false due to God’s infallibility. If that does not exist in the prescribed form, the Church is not a divine institution but merely another political one. It amazes me that the advocates of trashing the documents of Vatican II are unknowingly advocates for stripping the Church of its divine authority and making it into just a political and temporal institution – but that is what they are doing. If they were to succeed, I would become part of the remnant Catholic Church, which believes that Christ’s promises to His Church are altogether true and eternal, while the theological vandals celebrated their victory over a solemn Church Council of all the Bishops. Karl Rauner would finally get his way, achieving victory through the efforts of the sort of people who were his sworn opponents in life. That’s some satanic irony for you.

And all this because of one of the most basic fallacies of logical thinking. Correlation is NOT causation – but people want to choose the easy way almost every time. So the satan uses what correlation he finds to seduce his enemies into doing his bidding.

              1. Charlie, I am reminded of my eternal Hilaire Belloc:: “Catholic Church is an institution I am bound to hold divine – but for unbelievers a proof of its divinity might be found in the fact that no merely human institution conducted with such knavish imbecility would have lasted a fortnight” ― Hilaire Belloc David Aguilar

    2. Very salient and well-stated argument, David. This is a worthy contribution.

I maintain that the problem never was Vatican II, but the pernicious “Spirit of Vatican II” that is the subordinate source of the problems. The primary source of the problems was a spirit of revolt that held sway among much of the clergy and encompassed much of the laity that had, genuinely, lost their faith. They liked the influence that the institutional Church had and, like Judas, sought to turn it to their mere temporal ends. I am convinced that if there was no Vatican II at all, this spirit of revolt had been bubbling hard since at least the early ’40s (probably longer) and would have emerged when it did, anyway, using some entirely different McGuffin to justify their revolt.

As Shakespeare said so wisely centuries ago, “The problem is not in our stars, but in ourselves.”

In Scripture, Jesus said that if Judas did not betray him, his passion would still have come. (Luke 22). Another time when the authorities told Jesus to stop calling him the Messiah he told them that the stones would cry out if he did (Luke 19). Aquinas in his Summa makes the case that God wills all things and nothing happens that he does not ordain for His purpose, even evil. “God has willed that these temporal goods and temporal evils should befall good and bad alike, so that the good things should not be too eagerly coveted, when it is seen that the wicked also enjoy them, and that the evils should not be discreditably shunned, when it is apparent that the good are often afflicted with them.

      2. I read this right after reading this post. Either NO or TLM. Either/or. so well said, Charlie, most of Catholicism is not either/or but both/and. Who ar WE to know the will of God.

So, what did I read? “It makes little difference whether a bird is tied by a thin thread or a cord. Even if it is tied by a thread, the bird will be held bound just surely as if it were tied by a cord; that is, it will impeded from flying as long as it does not break the thread.” (29th Star – Detachment. Mary’s Mantle Consecration) And then this Sunday’s All is Vanity.

Whether we go to the NO Mass or to the TLM, are we more attached to it than to Christ himself? Even by a thread? This seems to be my meditation for the rest of this retreat. May we all become detached…

Agreed, Nance. It can be so hard to get over one’s self and how “I” like things to be, which can so easily lead into the spirit of uncharity and criticism when things aren’t just as “I” want – WANT!!! – them to be, and forgetting that He is the only reason I should be there in the first place.

  9. “it would mean that Christ was wrong about hell prevailing against the Church.”I have thought long and hard ovet this point long before it was mentioned here, and it’s not as simple as saying “Hell will never defeat the Church on Earth. (for a short time)”.  If that were the case, the use of the word “prevail” would be totally wrong & unnecessary.  Hell certainly didn’t prevail against Christ, but Christ suffered in the garden, was brutally tortured, forced to carry the Cross, crucified & died in the flesh on that Cross, and considered dead & defeated by the living on Earth for 2 days.  Seriously, “Hell shall not prevail against the Church.” is a deeply troubling quote, as it means we will come to know pain, desperation, & despair before Hell is defeated. As for the Latin vs New Mass angle and Vatican II, the rebellion in the Church was already present and existed decades before Vatican II even existed.  It’s not as simple as pinpointing a singular event, the Church’s fall from grace was a slow & gradual process even before Fatima & La Salette, perhaps Vatican II was “A Test (allowed by God)”, and in that test, the Church was found lacking.  It’s easy to point the finger and assign blame, and sure it’s a no-brainer that it’s the devil’s & fallen angels fault, those who worship evil fault, and man’s & woman’s fallen nature of “Original Sin” fault, as it makes for a bad mixture failures & destruction.  In the coming period of peace, we will be wiser & more knowledgeable, because we will have learned through many failures what happens when there’s a turning away from God & putting oneself before God & others. 2. Al2,

“Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” (Luke 45).

Even after the Apostles were “clothed with Power” they still struggled with evil and doubt many times. So too must we expect this during the period of peace. Since we ‘don’t get heaven until we get to heaven’ it stands to reason we will still be the church militant until the end. I’m only basing this on what was being expected by the people throughout the bible and what actually happened. Jesus said ” Peace be with you” upon entering the upper room. This is God calling down peace on his chosen ones. Did they get it? Maybe eventually in their hearts but not in their lives or in this world even now 2000 years later peace still hasn’t reigned. St Thomas Aquinas explains evils purpose in life:
God] has willed that these temporal goods and temporal evils should befall good and bad alike, so that the good things should not be too eagerly coveted, when it is seen that the wicked also enjoy them, and that the evils should not be discreditably shunned, when it is apparent that the good are often afflicted with them.” His point is that God can cause good to come out of evil.  If you read the 24 hours of Our Lord’s Passion by Maria Piccoretta you can get a glimpse of how He took on that great suffering to account for every type of sin and evil committed by mankind out of Love for us and to appease Divine Justice because of it. It is truly sobering and may help you understand why bad things happen even to good people (like Jesus).

      Liked by 1 person

  14. The Amish also do not eat processed foods. This reduces inflammation and allows the immune system to target antigens more effectively without the byproduct of constantly being busy with foreign chemicals clogging the system up. The scientific reasoning is simple. Eat pure, whole unprocessed foods and the body works as it’s supposed to. Food allergies are not an allergic reaction to food but a reaction by an overwhelmed immune system suffering from chemicals in the environment and in processed foods.

  18. May I ask for prayers for my husband who was admitted to the hospital last with a possible heart attack/heart issue. I’m trying to be brave. God bless you all

  19. Charlie, you wrote “I know now how useless it was for me to ask that the Lord show everyone what He was showing me for all those decades. I was completely mistaken about the effect it would have. But I find myself wishing now that the Lord had disciplined and corrected everyone as vociferously as He has disciplined and corrected me over the years.” It would probably be good for many if the Lord had disciplined and corrected everyone, but remember, above all else, the Lord gives us free-will, and you willingly accepted His discipline and correction. We could say that we wished that He had made the same offer to everyone, but, again, the vast majority would have turned it down and turned away. I am thankful that there are people, like you, who willingly accepted that road, not for your own glory or righteousness, but to be a beacon of light for those not strong enough to shoulder that kind of responsibility!
