Rules of Regency – Part III

(The comments on my preface to Part II have triggered a thought. As I think we are very near showtime I think it may be a very good thing to do a concise, but comprehensive series on what I think is the appropriate response to the degenerating crises around us – and the principles upon those actions are founded. It will be a five to seven-part series, starting with an essay on “The Mission of the Christ.” It will also encompass the crisis in the Church, in the world, and in America. I have a feeling that, in the history of this era taught 50 years from now, the brutal Hamas sneak attack on Israel and the slaughter of civilians will be treated as synonymous with the assassination of the Archduke Ferdinand that was the catalyst for WWI. It may be a prelude to a comprehensive global conflagration. There are first principles that, when plumbed, give you a reliable guide to what actions to take. I will write about first principles in my column in the CORAC newsletter later this week. That is a recommended pre-requisite for the series to come.

This piece was originally published on Sept. 14, 2016. I have edited it lightly (taking out the dated intro) but making no substantive edits. It seems pretty basic and mild now, but at the time the series was a bit controversial. You can go here for Part I and here for Part II. I am deeply pleased that Donald Trump made the Back to Work section I wrote below moot – for he has done it. And I am equally saddened that Joe Biden completely squandered that advantage. -CJ)

Okay folks, here we go. I suspect the final installment is not going to be quite as dramatic as anticipation would make it out to be, but here it is.  

Education

Primary responsibility for and authority over a child’s education resides with the parents. States may demand compulsory education of the young, but if they do so they must provide for it in the form of vouchers that the parents may use in any school of their choice. The vouchers must be equivalent to the average cost per student at public schools.

States may demand performance benchmarks in basic subjects, such as mathematics, science, reading, writing and history. Such benchmarks must not provide cover for ideological indoctrination. Parents and private schools may file federal suit for damages and remediation against any state efforts to mandate ideological indoctrination under the cover of curriculum benchmarks.

Colleges must provide free speech and due process protections for all students. Colleges which encourage and indulge “safe spaces,” suppress free speech, and punish students for micro-aggressions – or fail to defend against rioting and sustained disruption of classes may be sued in class action by students for depriving them of the property right in education their tuition was supposed to pay for. Any college which refuses to allow ROTC on campus or access to military recruiters will be barred from receiving any federal funds. Since there will be no federal student loan guarantees, that will mainly consist of the denial of research funding and other federal collaborations that make use of the college’s intellectual resources. The federal Department of Education will be abolished as a stand-alone entity. Education will be the responsibility of the parents and the states – with the federal government serving merely as guarantor of rights, including property rights in the education that students and their families pay for.

War and Peace

The foundation of predictable, stable diplomacy is to start from the national interest. Just as a family’s first job is to protect and defend the family’s interest, so a nation’s first job is to defend the interests of its citizens. Effective diplomacy finds common interests with other nations and develops strategies to pursue and promote those common interests, always protecting the vital interests of native citizens.

The credible threat of the use of force – and the actual use of it – is always a key tool in the diplomatic bag. Other nations must always calculate both the benefits of cooperation and the costs of confrontation when dealing with the United States. America must be a reliable and steadfast ally to those who choose cooperation– and a relentless foe to those who insist on conflict. Predictability on the broad issues makes for global stability.

War must always be the tool of last resort, the tool used when either all others have failed or when the danger is so clear and present that decisive action must be taken to prevent a larger conflagration. If war must come, the clear object must ever be victory, defined as the unconditional surrender of opposing forces. I do not believe in proportionality or restrictive rules of engagement. That just gets more people killed. Let opponents know the true cost of confrontation early on and you will have far less confrontation later on.

America must never target civilians, but neither must it give opponents who don’t value innocent life an advantage by refusing to attack them if they embed themselves among civilians. Let civilians know, if they have embedded belligerents among them that they must get them out or themselves get out, for we are coming. Then come.

After victory, always give generous terms of surrender to an opponent, but terms that do not make it easy for belligerents to once again take control. The occupation of Japan after World War II and the Marshall Plan in Europe were successful models of how to make former opponents into real allies, while respecting their national sovereignty.

Pursue collective security agreements such as NATO with nations that have common interests and values. I am not a fan of propping up dictators’ clubs such as the United Nations (which may be the largest fully corrupt and incompetent institution in world history). If dictators must have a club to taunt free peoples, they can do it on their own dime and in one of their own lands.

Back to Work

In 2006, I did extensive research on energy resources related to two Congressional campaigns I was working on. I was surprised to discover that America is, by far, the most energy-rich nation on earth. Divide our resources in half and we would be the two biggest energy-rich nations in the world. Almost every state has substantial energy resources it could develop. We have been disabled like Gulliver with a network of restrictions and regulations that prevent us from tapping more than a tiny fraction of what we are capable of.

I realized immediately both the economic and national security implications of that fact. Open up our resources to exploration and development and it could put the whole nation humming with employment and economic vitality – while at the same time making sand the most valuable export the Middle East could muster.

Oil, natural gas and coal are just the start of what we can develop. Technology allows for clean uses. The liquefaction of coal, alone, can provide a diesel-like fuel that can power most military applications and many commercial uses. Cut away the bonds we have wrapped ourselves in and jobs would spring up in every state – white-collar, blue-collar, and all sorts of ancillary support industries.

I realized, with no little sorrow, that we weren’t going to do that any time soon. But when, in 2007, I began to develop plans that would quickly bring a shattered, disheartened people back to their feet with enough confidence and resolve to press on through the final challenges of the Storm, I realized that this was a critical ace in the hole. It was a way to get people working again quickly – and not in a pathetic make-work way – but with real dignity and providing resources that would help us endure all trials we must face. It will be done.

As I said when I began this, the items I have written here do not even amount to the tip of the iceberg of what I have been working at these last 12 years. But they do illustrate the principles – and types of principles – that will be used during this critical period between the final crash and the definitive Rescue that will allow us to endure and prepare the way for Rescue. Come Lord Jesus!

  1. Oh yes, Charlie!! Yesterday, with the attack on Israel, which was the very Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary commemorating the Holy League’s Victory at the Battle of Lepanto, CORAC member, Jos (who lives in Europe), posted an image of the magnificent “cross that crowned the captain’s nave during the Battle of Lepanto in 1571” which is now venerated at Barcelona’s cathedral.

    When I gazed upon the image of that Cross, I wrote in a comment that the attack on Israel “seems to me to be a harbinger of more to come around the world. A signpost event. And that it happened on this day brings great hope amidst the darkness. Thinking of Lepanto as well as the Two Pillar Dream of Don Bosco. (Our Lady Help of Christians, pray for us… We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You, because by Your Holy Cross You have redeemed the world.)”

    And further connecting Lepanto with the Two Pillars dream is the truth that the wood of the cradle became the wood of the Cross became the wood of the Altar on which the Eucharist is confected and adored.

  3. As has been the case, the Synod and comments being made by Francis are a challenge to Christ’s teachings and the Catholic Church’s 2000 plus years of teachings. Francis seems to think he can make it up as he goes along. He is clearly pleasing new world order politicians and leftist ideologists. However, Christ’s teachings are far above politics. Saint Thomas Becket and all the saints must weep at all that is happening at these synods.

    “On that day, when all the nations of the earth gather against her, I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who would heave it away will be severely injured. So on that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.”

  6. Great piece Charlie!!!! And Beckita I really love what you wrote too as your first comment!!! While getting ready for first Saturday mass yesterday, mike told me Israel 🇮🇱 and hamas were at war!!! He said it’s breaking news!!!

    As soon as he told me that I immediately thought that there must be some sort of connection between what was going on in Israel, the great feast of Our Lady of the rosary 📿 and the ensuing triumph!!!! Trial, tribulation and triumph! Ha!!! Desmond no Antichrist yet thanks be to God!!!

    Just one more thing😂😂😂. Can anyone here tell me how to properly explain the triumph to women who are Muslim and wear those things on their head? I was trying to explain to them what is coming but I wasn’t quite sure how to go about it since they don’t worship Jesus like we do …they know things are bad and they are worried for their children and grandchildren as we all are. They are such sweet ladies🥰🥰

    1. Simply say with confidence: God has a Plan to get us through what we must go through, so let’s keep our hearts and minds fixed on acknowledging Him so we can understand what He wants us to do and we’ll be a sign of hope to those around us.

  7. I am very concerned about what is going on in the Middle East. The brutality of this attack by Hamas on Israel is certainly serious.

    However, I want to caution everyone not to look just at the surface of things here. When you look underneath the surface, you will find massive manipulation, not just of us but I think also of Hamas and others. If we don’t take the time to understand this other layer of these events, we will likely end up in a war that really is not needed.

    Let me start by pointing out that there is no possible way, none whatsoever, that well-placed people in Israel and the US and many other countries didn’t know this was coming. Think! It has been known for at least a year that a high percentage of the military equipment (and cash) that the “allies” of Ukraine have been sending to Ukraine have been sold on through other channels from Ukraine (by Ukrainian military!) to other areas of concern such as to Hamas, certain players in Africa, and possibly/probably into the human flood entering the US. (Some was even sold to the Russians!)

    You can absolutely lay money on the idea that pretty much every intelligence service in the world, and especially the Israelis, knew this was going on and followed it as it happened. So, if you, as a high-level Israeli, knew this arms smuggling to your worst enemy was happening, there is no way that you would not track it and know an explosion of activity would come.

    Ask yourself, what is the best way for evil people in the world to keep pushing us to war when even the US media is admitting that the Ukrainian war is lost to the Russians? If you (whoever you are) want to give an excuse to go to war, what do you do? Think Gulf of Tonkin, the Reichstag fire, and any of a number of other false flags. You shift the warmongering to a different place, one even more inflammatory than the one you’ve been flogging for the past 15 months.

    Here you have a normally brutal enemy of Israel being armed for *many months* with arms from Ukraine (and probably cash, too), and somehow, they manage to attack you when you are sitting on the beach somewhere? No way. What better way to “take care of business” than to depend on that brutal group to do dreadful things to their enemy’s population If folks “stop watching” for a little while? And then create some variant of pain that inflames Hezbollah, and then inflame Iran and the Saudis, and then the US population and the Russians?

    Hamas has played their willing part (and been played to do it) in this scripted drama. My advice is: Don’t play yours. In this case as in so many others, only the evil people are going to win by instigating and escalating this conflict.

    How many manipulations that have led to mass deaths have we had just in the past three years? Hundreds of millions of innocent people will die over several years just from the Covid vaxxx scamocide pushed by our governments – people and institutions we trusted. Why would you think this situation is any different? What’s the goal of those who are “in the know” in this situation? Do they have your best interest in mind?

    Do you have to play along, or can you do something out of the box that messes with their intent here?

    2. Great insight, Steve. How is it that the Israeli intelligence Mossad had no clue this would/could happen if their intelligence agency is said to be the best in the world? And to carry out such a coordinated attack from land, sea and air requires supposedly months of preparation… And yes, like the pandemic suddenly disappeared with Putin’s invasion, now the Ukrainian “counteroffensive” is disappearing from the media and the media are shifting to the Israeli conflict… Besides, even though I sympathize with the Israeli side, please note that this attack is called pby the Israeli government “our 9/11 event” and gives them green light to attack Gaza and get rid of Palestinians once for all. 9/11 gave US “moral permission” in the western world to attack Iraq and other countries…

I don’t really want to get to explaining how the posts made by Q actually work, but it is quite interesting that there is a Q post published on Oct 4, 2018, that has the phrase “Israeli Intelligence – Stand Down.” And it was three days later in the month that the new conflict erupted on 10/7, so three days of prepositioning doesn’t seem unreasonable. And it is exactly what was required. Here’s the post:

        Now consider that there are several posts with “Stand Down” in them, most of them having to do with irregulars in Israel and the US being allowed in as authorities were told to stand down. You can search for that phrase and see for yourself.

        Now consider. What would be required in order to know in 2018 to the day when such an order would be needed in October 2023? And to have it link to other posts that bring the ensuing issue here to the US after the Biden Admin has held the border open to sketchy people since 2021? Because you know this setup has been created here, too, right?

        Just how predictable are these events in Time? Who is giving these stand-down orders to create mass murders and generate conflicts? When did they actually give those orders? Q and its associates don’t work this way but can use events for their purposes. What are their purposes?

        Just what exactly is going on here that we need to be aware of so that we don’t react to the surface events in a predictable and pre-programmed way? And who is doing the programming so we will fight each other and not them?

        How to get the population of the world to identify its real enemy? You can’t obtain Justice until we all know who the real criminals are. And we can’t identify the real criminals if we keep reacting and not awakening.

      2. Guys, political events are NOT like a mathematical formula. 2 + 2 always and everywhere equals four. It is not so with human behavior. Surprises always come. Even the best can be deceived…because the deceivers watch what triggers them and find workarounds.

        In politics I often had volunteers who were engineers and scientists and it always baffled me why they were such terrible strategists (though often gifted tacticians) and concocted so many weird scenarios so completely divorced from what was actually happening. How could they be so smart in one area and so utterly obtuse in this one? My working theory now is that they are so used to working in a realm where a set of inputs under controlled circumstances always result in a predictable result. The realm of human behavior is NOT like that at all. People are unpredictable and the infirm sometimes prevail over the mighty. (Witness the American Revolutionary War). It is almost always a waste of time to form exotic theories about how it is all one big kabuki dance by shadowy masterminds who control everything. It is the human condition. In the original Arab Spring during WWI, the British powers that be thought it was a Jewish plot. I kid you not. Their confident and glibly shallow misreading of the situation created a series of disasters in the then-Middle East. (I think it no accident that there were a lot of engineers in the British gov’t at the time). Human events are NOT an equation you can solve by forcing the predicates into position to satisfy an exotic theory.

        If you believe Israel secretly masterminded this atrocity, then you believe there is no good in the world, only manipulative evil. But hey, it fits into a neat equation, doesn’t it?

        Please stop. Israel did NOT mastermind the murder and torture of women, children and adolescent girls. Donald Trump is NOT secretly running everything in some exotic game of deception and manipulation. If my record of predictions was as poor as Q’s, I would have closed up shop long ago. So why go to such exotic theories of everything? Because it gives you a sense of secret control in unstable times. But it is a false sense. We will have to get through this through the mud and blood like every epoch of human history before us. Flawed as Sigmund Freud often was, he was never more right than when he said, “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.”

        We have work to do. While I indulge some exotic theories from my friends, when those theories start taking hold here, it distracts us from the real world we have to deal with. There is no man on a white horse who is going to rescue us. There is no mastermind pulling the strings on all events throughout the world. There is no multitude of enemies around the world: there is only one – the satan. His human servants are just his acolytes. For heavens sakes, let us buckle down to the real tide of evil growing around us squarely and straightforwardly.

          Five times the Gospel writers tell how the enemy intervened in the plan of salvation.
          1. Herod kills the Holy innocents.
          2. He temps Jesus in the desert
          3. He temps Peter to stop Jesus
          4. He temps Judas to betray Jesus.
          The Mystics tell us of more times he tries to stop it.
          5. He temps Jesus in the garden.
          6. Temps Jesus on the cross.
          There are multiple other stories in the bible of the enemy interfering with mankind starting with the creation story (“because of the jealousy of the devil, death entered the world” (Wis. 24) all the way into our future told in the book of Revelation.
          These are the real “multitudes of enemies around the world” who weave a web of evil against mankind. Unfortunately, like with Judas and Herod, mostly with our help!

    These are Border Patrol apprehensions between ports of entry only, this data does not include CBP encounters at ports of entry.
    Border Patrol sources tell me they have extreme concerns about who is coming into the country because they have little to no way of vetting people from these special interest countries. I’m told unless they have committed a crime previously in the US, or they are on some sort of federal watchlist, there’s no way to know who they are because most of their home countries don’t share data/records with the US so there is nothing to match a name to when BP agents run fingerprints.
