Back when I was a young fella my pet peeve was all of my friends who claimed that smoking marijuana helped facilitate deep and insightful thought in them. Now I was not completely abstinent, but I didn’t care for it because it would make my head fuzzy for three days – and a clear head was my main asset, so I preferred beer. I well knew, though, that if I drank too much, I got stupider, not smarter. But I did NOT get as stupid as when partaking of the weed – and the effects were much more short-lived. So most of the time when my friends were smoking I would stick to beer and we were all happy – except for my annoyance at their claim of how weed expanded their minds.
One night, it came to a head. I just could not stand it anymore. So I proposed an experiment. I suggested we all partake and then write down those deep thoughts that came so we could peruse them the next day and see just how deep they actually were. Everyone agreed, thinking they were going to prove me wrong. The next day, as we read what we had written under the influence the night before, no one wanted to share his deep thoughts. They were that pathetic. I concluded rather triumphantly that marijuana makes you very stupid while also deluding you that you are very smart. Not everyone agreed with my conclusion, but none of my friends ever again proclaimed to me that they partook of weed because of the deep insight it gave. Maybe that’s the problem in modern culture: the whole world is high, getting stupider by the minute while thinking they are getting smarter. I knew we shouldn’t have legalized marijuana.
A marvelous article in American Greatness suggested that we are now all being ruled by an overgrown group of mean girls from junior high school. That fits, too. There is no tyranny so arbitrary and capricious as a gaggle of adolescent mean girls. And just like some adolescent girls, nothing triggers our modern rulers more than hearing an idea they have never heard before and being asked to defend their own emotings.
The fascist ethos of the anti-God left was fully exposed by their meltdown over Elon Musk’s bid to buy Twitter. Not a single leftist is worried that Musk is going to censor them: they are worried that he won’t let them censor Christians and conservatives anymore. When your tools for discernment are calling everything you disagree with “Russian disinformation” or simply “misinformation” and seeking to shut others up rather than prove your point, you might be a fascist. When you argue that actual free speech is a “threat to democracy,” you are not at all clear on the concept of democracy. When any disagreement with leftist government tools is an “insurrection,” your inner Josef Stalin is showing.
The inmates have made America into an asylum – and they’re running it. As the great Dennis Prager says, the left ruins everything it touches. We have moved into very dangerous territory. A lot of reasonable people who are content to disagree and move on are being radicalized by the predations of the left. What they accuse you of is what they are actually doing – and they honestly think you are doing it because they think everyone is as perverse, vicious, and immoral as they are.
If I were a liberal, I would be terrified right now – for fear that I was going to be counted with the reigning cultural Visigoths. A black man I am close to expressed this to me recently. Originally a supporter of Black Lives Matter, he is completely opposed to it now, considering it both a fraud and a terrible danger to black lives. He thinks they are trying to foment a race war – and wonders what idiot wants a race war when they constitute 13% of the population in the society.
On the hopeful side, the real people I meet across the country have been uniformly kind and considerate. I’m not talking only about people who come to my talks. People I meet in stores, gas stations, and hotels are all friendly and cheerful. I don’t think it is nearly as bad among real people as the media and the lunatics running things want to make it out to be. Unfortunately, all those wonderful real people are not the ones driving the boat these days.
Things must turn around quickly or we are headed for a full societal collapse. Some things are so toxic they demand intolerance, like putting cyanide in your soda – or a ruling dynasty of mean girls. I think we are about a year and a half away from there being no functional national authority. That does not mean it’s the end of America – but that we better get to know our own neighbors pretty quickly if we are going to have any sort of functional society that can head off the violence and strife when central authority implodes. And as we govern ourselves, locally or in larger regions, we better make sure that we adamantly insist that mean girls need not apply for leadership positions. We’d all have to be high to think that could work out.

The last week I was on the road was filled with unexpected challenges. I have been pondering it, thinking it was some sort of sign that is worth contemplation. A week ago last Friday my car was vibrating badly as I drove coming out of Lubbock, Texas. I thought I had to get this looked at as soon as I got to St. Louis. I stopped off in Chickasha (pronounced like ricochet), Oklahoma at a Braum’s to get some ice cream and rest a bit. (Braum’s is a great ice cream and hamburger place, primarily in Kansas, Oklahoma and northern Texas. Check it out if you ever see one.) When I went back to the car, the suspension was creaking and popping something terrible. I figured I better not go anywhere with it like that, so I went to a hotel in town for the night.
Saturday morning I went out early to find an auto repair shop. Most were closed. The closest I could find was a tire shop. So I stopped in, they took a look, and told me my rack and pinion steering had gone out and a control arm was shot – but they did not do that type of work. They recommended a newly opened shop around the corner – but it was closed that day. I left it at that shop and gave a call and left a message at the posted number. I started walking back to the hotel, trying to figure out what I would do to get to my talk in St. Louis on Sunday. After just two blocks, I saw a small car dealership that had a sign saying, “Rentals Available.” So I stopped in to see if that was a possibility. Turns out they meant rental homes. I laughed to the fellow behind the desk and said I was sure the rentals were nice, but they wouldn’t get me to St. Louis. He laughed back and offered me a ride back to the hotel, saying his partner could watch the shop for a few minutes.
When I got back to the hotel my first priority was to figure out how to get to St. Louis for the next day’s talk. I had done all I could for that day for the car and the priority was to get to the talk. Local people put a ton of effort into setting these things up and I am absolutely loathe to postpone or cancel one. I had to cancel or postpone a couple when I had a bad case of Covid – and hope I never have to do that again. I checked potential rental cars, trains and even buses before settling on having to fly (which I HATE to do anymore). Since Chickasha is 40 miles from Oklahoma City, I had to arrange transportation. There were no shuttles or even cab service that ran that day, so I checked with some of the desk staff downstairs to see if they knew anyone who could drive me into the city. One of the housekeepers got her husband to do it. He did construction projects in the city, so it worked out and I got him a fresh tank of gas. He was a black guy who has some mixed race family. We chatted about the nonsense we have to deal with with the media constantly trying to set us all against each other – particularly those of us who have mixed race families. He dropped me off at an airport hotel, since my flight would be early Sunday morning.
At four a.m. I got up to get to the airport. At the security checkpoint, I was held up while a TSA agent went furiously through my computer bag. She was so intent I finally asked her if she was looking for something specific. She said yes – and I told her if she would tell me what it was I might be able to help. Just then, she pulled a pocket knife out of the bag. I was astonished – thought I had lost it – and figured oh boy, this is NOT good. But she just told me I could take it back to my car, but couldn’t take it on the plane. I told her I didn’t have a car…and no time even if I did, so she could have it. She said she couldn’t do that, that they would have to dispose of it. I told her to do whatever, but if they had some thing where they could give it away, that would be best. I apologized once more and she sent me on my way.
Our Region 7 Coordinator (Iowa, Illinois and Missouri), Bill Hammer, had come down from Iowa to rally the troops in St. Louis and he picked me up at the airport and drove me to my hotel. I crashed into bed at 9 a.m. then got up at 11:30 to prepare for the talk at one. Mark Lapchak, who helps with the scheduling, was there to tape the talk and drove me down to Belleville, Illinois where it was held. It was a great talk – a lively and energetic crowd with loads of comments and questions. That evening, the volunteers who put it together had dinner with me at a local eatery – a dinner originally planned for Saturday, but moved to Sunday evening because of the glitch in my schedule. We had a lively engagement there as well. On Monday, I was able to visit with some old friends (I lived in Belleville for five years), then on Tuesday Mark and I set off for Chickasha – a drive of eight hours.
I had looked online to get an idea of what to expect on price for the type of work being done to the car – and it suggested $1,500 to $2,000 was not uncommon. The auto shop had to get an extra part but was not giving me a specific estimate. I was getting nervous and kind of expected them to hammer me. I was planning to go to Kansas City to spend the night with Joe and Connie Brickner, our Region 10 Coordinators (Kansas and Nebraska), but the shop told me they had to do an alignment on the car and it would not be ready until that afternoon. Still no estimate. Mark headed on out to the Brickners and I stayed an extra day in Chickasha. Finally, late in the afternoon, the son of the owner drove the repaired car to the hotel and gave me the bill. I steeled myself – and was, indeed, stunned. The bill was $330. I don’t think I could have gotten the parts for that much. I called the owner and she said the rack and pinion were fine, that it was just the boot and the lower control arm that had to be replaced. It was still an absurdly low price. I bought the shop lunch for the next day – and the car drove well, indeed. They did good work. Just in case you’re ever in Chickasha, the shop is Red Dirt Auto Repair. If they treat an out-of-towner in an emergency so well, I think you can trust them.
Finally, Thursday morning I headed out for the 12 hour drive to get home to Denver in time for the Triduum. Holy Thursday always leaves me feeling bereft with the stripping of the altar. It feels like the world is truly plunged into darkness and sorrow. Good Friday services are particularly tough for me, as the hardest thing I do with my neurological damage is kneel and rise. Though I have a dispensation, I try not to use it – but the constant cycle of kneeling and standing during the petitions of the faithful are brutal on me. This time, I did too many and nearly triggered a neurological episode (I get nauseated, my head starts tingling and sweating and the pain flares tremendously). I skipped the last two kneels, then got out as fast as I could after the Veneration of the Cross and went home to bed, hoping to check the episode before it got too bad. It worked. Saturday night I attended the longest Easter Vigil I ever have – three and a half hours. A good friend was coming into the Church, so it was a very joyful Easter for me.
I have pondered this. I got stuck in an unexpected area, distant from people I knew who could help. I got wonderful help from strangers. I kept my priorities straight so that I could keep my commitment – and living that commitment was a particularly wonderful event. I think I got a little loose in making decisions under stress, certainly not as precise and calm as I like to make them, but it worked with the help of strangers. Our hearts truly do want to reach out to each other, even in this time when the perpetually offended try to stifle that kindness. I fretted that I might be gouged on my car but could do nothing about it. Instead, I was blessed. I fretted that I would not make it home for the Triduum – and oh, how I wanted to get home! Except for a couple of days, I had not been home since mid-October. The last day’s drive was an exhausting marathon, but I made it – and had perhaps the most joyful Easter I have had since I was received into the Church 31 years ago. We are going to be beset by all manner of trials and temptations ahead. When you can’t see clearly the way ahead, stumble forward doing the best you can – and trusting to God for the rest. He is truly the only safe repository for your hope, however dark it may seem in the moment.

About a third of the way into our Easter fundraising campaign for CORAC, we are at 35% of our goal of $50,000. Check out our bi-weekly national newsletter, edited and put together by Sheryl Collmer of Texas. It covers news you won’t get anywhere else and puts the spotlight on various Regional and Team news from across the country. We cover the truckers convoy, the latest vaxx info and all manner of issues inside and outside of the Church. You have to register to see some of the material on the CORAC website, but there is no charge to do so or to take any of the many classes or check out the many instructional materials we put up. All you have to put up with is me begging for funds to keep hope alive every few months. Thank you all for your generosity and for all you do. If you haven’t donated yet, I’m begging you to do it now.

If communication goes out for any length of time, meet outside your local Church at 9 a.m. on Saturday mornings. Tell friends at Church now in case you can’t then. CORAC teams will be out looking for people to gather in and work with.

Charlie, I keep wondering why educated and well-off folks have become the main boosters of the DemoRat Party when it’s in their own economic interests instead to reject the far Left, and the best I have been able to reason is that they are intent on signaling their virtue to counter their own miserable feelings of having cheated their way to success. So, I think this explanation of yours really nailed it,
” What they accuse you of is what they are actually doing – and they honestly think you are doing it because they think everyone is as perverse, vicious, and immoral as they are. “

“They were that pathetic. I concluded rather triumphantly that marijuana makes you very stupid while also deluding you that you are very smart. ”
Yep, yep, yep.
Driving home through MA last night, there are so many billboards advertising marijuana and how wonderful it is, how all the smart people do this. One, particularly revolting, that reminds me of the title of this piece, showed a woman in a cowboy hat’s profile shot and said “Kind” That was the name of the shop and the tag line was it will make you kind. (gag)
It made me very sad. Very sad indeed. Keep ’em stoopid and stoopider and making them serfs is as easy as taking candy from a baby.
Thank God for His mercy and your apostolate, Charlie. The rest of your piece is sure what the Doctor ordered for courage in these days. TY.
We were visiting our son out of state and had an eye-opening experience at mass that has given us all a profound gift I’m still unpacking. God is moving fast. Nothing is as it seems. It is exactly as you say, Charlie, if we do not cling to Him, tnrs, there is no path forward. Yet living this simple yet profound way of life opens unexpected blessings.

Yeah, about that experience. We all feel so dumb, not just a little bit angry, almost like abused, but mostly sad, very sad—that in trying to find an Easter mass, what we thought was a legitimate tlm was indeed, Not.
So it turns out it was a sedevacantist mass (sic). We had no idea that’s what it was until late last night when I did some poking around their website to find out who the Saint on the side altar was. I thought maybe St. Philomena. It seems St. Philomena has been trying to get my attention a lot lately. I think she has adopted me. I believe that even more now that looking for her is what shed light on a couple really deceptive websites, which looked like normal church websites. The sedevacantism belief was not advertised until one dug deeper.
Upon further investigation I see the Catholic Bishop of that diocese issued a no-words-minced warning about them. TYG for this clear direction. After having erroneously attended, I can understand why the good Bishop did so. It also gave me more sympathy for Pope Francis in wanting to clear up their dangerous confusion/deception.

She certainly had our backs!
It’s been a huge eye-opener and great opportunity for discussion for us all. There were so many red flags. I kinda felt many things were “off” but dismissed this as it was a midnight mass and I was tired and thought maybe my judgement was wrong. Hah.
My kids were like: What happened to The Credo? (Yeah, that’s relevant) Others said the Kyrie Eleison and Gloria was misplaced/different, the Confeitor and Judica Me at the beginning was omitted. Father seemed especially dour. The many altar servers seemed off. The sermon was flat and somehow off. None of us know tlm that clearly, but we all picked up on these things. We thought, well maybe this is just a special Easter mass. Maybe there’s a few valid variations we don’t know about.

I am sorry for you having this experience, Littlelight. I have very little tolerance for sedevacantists BUT Pope Francis’ use of a shotgun that wounded the majority of decent Catholics who simply love the genuine Latin Mass leaves me with no sympathy for his position at all. Genuine Traditional Latin Mass advocates have been wounded by the depredations of the sedevacantists that unjustly smear them. Discipline the malefactors and comfort the innocent. Would you have sympathy if he tried to outlaw all Novus Ordo Masses because of routine abuses there? Or would you prefer he focus on eliminating the abuses and preserving what is good? With the TLM situation, he chose to shoot the wounded – and though not a TLM-er myself, I have no sympathy at all for his actions on this.

I had that thought too, and it made me mad. I don’t follow the politics thoroughly enough to know the exactitudes of the depth of it all. You make excellent points.

Thinking more, what you are highlighting here for me, is that we are so used to the rife abuses in the N.O, masses, it’s “comfortable” to be dismissive of them. But since I’m rather new to tlm, the abuses by schism groups seems worse. In reality both are equally bad. It’s reminds me of the saying—the evil you know is less fearful than the one you don’t.
This whole experience has been an opportunity for us to better understand the need for deliberation and discernment, courage and not cowering fear, etc., walking the straight path.
TY Charlie.

I used to not understand why people yelled about the NO abuses. Well, I didn’t realize how spoiled I was in my own NO parish until I did some travelling and just about had to hoist my jaw off the floor at what I was witness to. I honestly don’t know what I would do if I had to go to one of those awful parishes. And I started to thank my priest profusely for how tight he ran his ship. There’s crazy on both sides.

??? It’s an efficiently Liberal thing to do! It’s perfectly consistent with Pope Francis’ pattern of behavior, he’s also purging the College of Cardinals of traditional conservstive & orthodox Cardinals and replacing them with those hostile to traditional faith, what was everyone expecting? The Latin mass is just the tip of the iceberg, the Liberals inside the Church will go after a lot more than that.

Littlelight, I love St. Philomena, too. We named one of our daughters after her. 🙂
Regarding Pope Francis, I get your point; but I have no sympathy for him. One doesn’t clean up a messy kitchen or basement by trying to burn the house down. Instead of dealing with the “problem children,” Pope Francis lumps all TLM devotees into the same boat and treats us all as if we’re all a problem. As I understand the situation (and someone please correct me if I’m wrong), he has removed from bishops the right to authorize new TLM chapels in their own dioceses; he has forbidden a diocesan priest to celebrate a Mass in the vernacular and the TLM on the same day; and he has reserved to the Holy See the sole authority to grant permission for the TLM to be celebrated by diocesan priests who weren’t already celebrating it prior to July 16 of last year. In my view, that is not a sign of someone trying to clean house in good faith; it is the sign of someone who is trying to burn the TLM to the ground. God bless Pope Francis, but I’m not giving him the benefit of the doubt on this one.

TY for explaining this. It makes me feel “less than,” angry, humiliated, sad, many overwhelming emotions to be processed as one of the schismatics. Yep, God bless Pope Francis and help him, ugh.

I think a great positive of this pontificate is it has emboldened the compromised priests and bishops to come out in the open. Now we know who they are.It is a good thing the church is God’s church and not mans. Christ is watching and none of this goes unnoticed. For me, I double down to pray for our beloved church. Thanks Littlelight. From my own experience, I had an inner quest for the “perfect” church. Prior to Lambzie and I coming into the Catholic church, we were hopping from one protestant church to another never being satisfied. We had resentment in our hearts we had to deal with. We wound up going back to our original church. It was Mary through Medjugorje that ultimately brought me into the Catholic church through a miraculous healing she facilitated in our lives.—- Sent from Doug’s Back Pack

My observations with those that I know who are chronic pot users is it has replaced their ability to deal with stress maturely. They developed what I call a “I don’t care” attitude about life. As they mature and more and more serious issues in life grow, they still only have the stress handling ability of when they started smoking pot. So, say they started at 16. Now they are 40 but only have the innate stress handling ability of a 16 year old and without pot cannot handle it, so they smoke in order to “maintain” their composure and relief. But now they make decisions under the influence of THC and, like Charlie concludes, it is rather narrow and short-sighted just like a teenagers would be.

My daughter and I are trying to help my 18yo grandson recover mentally, physically, emotionally, socially and especially, spiritually from smoking these drugs, and I’m not sure it was all marijuana. College prospect totally ruined, at least for now. Maybe that isn’t a bad thing. Twice the breakdown happened and I firmly believe God rescued him each time. The second time was a doozie. Wrecked the house, breaking many things. He was arrested and admitted to a mental facility. Also charged with felons because of his violence and resistance. We will see where that leads.
He is at home now, on meds. His Autism makes this a bit more diffficult, but he is pleasant and helpful now despite heavy fatigue. Yes, they both abandoned the Catholic Faith several years ago – YET, daughter has started to turned to God in prayer, and grandson has stated he wants to go to church. His mom is hesitant just yet. I worry about a coddling effect. We are 4 weeks into this, so, baby steps. [It is hard for me not to be in the driver’s seat. Lol]
This has taken a toll on us. The hospital was a nightmare because of him being18; daughter could not communicate with him, nor obtain information. What a battle field. What a Lent. Wasn’t in my plans, but, thank God is in Control. Talk about storm warnings!
Asking you all here for prayers for us. [I’m still smiling.]
God Bless you all with a strong Faith and courage to stay the course. Together.

We beg you, Lord, to hear the prayers of St. Dymphna on our behalf. Grant all those for whom we pray patience in their sufferings and resignation to your divine will. Please fill them with hope, and grant them the relief and cure they so much desire.

Charlie: “There is no tyranny so arbitrary and capricious as a gaggle of adolescent mean girls.” Ain’t that the truth. That’s probably why all through my educational years, most of my close friends were guys. And the handful of girls with whom I was close friends all ended up majoring in engineering, chemistry, or math… pretty much the antithesis of the “mean girl” stereotype. 🙂

Much the same here, Mick. I was one of three girls in my high school chemistry class and one of two in the physics class, but I think I’m just old enough that it hadn’t caught on yet that women do have strengths in these areas of math and science. I had planned to go to medical school, but I ended up digging more deeply into Education and English. Go figure. 🙂

I am comfortable with almost all people – young, old, rich, poor, powerful, ordinary, men, women. All except one group: a gaggle of young teenage girls always unsettles me. They giggle, whisper to each other, point at other people and laugh. Shoot, they unsettled me when I was a young teenager. A Priest I know once told me he had to lead a retreat for junior high girls. I told him if he needed a quick rescue ride, just give me a call.

Great piece! This really made me laugh “There is no tyranny so arbitrary and capricious as a gaggle of adolescent mean girls.” It’s so apt!
As a tangent, I believe the 7th and 8th grades are the most difficult for girls. My wife and I have now parented 5 girls through that age (only 3 more girls – so far -to go through it), and we chose to home school some of them because of the caustic nature of the girls. It also seems to be worse in schools that only go through 8th grade (even Catholic schools) because the 7th and 8th graders are the oldest in the building. I think the girls do better in schools that go all the way through 12th grade, because there are older girls around to tell the 7th and 8th graders to knock it off and shape up. It also seems to get a bit better beginning in 9th grade – probably for the same reason.

On the marijuana issue, with the 2020 elections shedding so much light on the cheating, I really wonder if “Coloradans” voted for the marijuana or if the fix was in for it passing. At the time, we were all stunned that there were that many ignorant and/or drugged people in the state!

Hot off the Press from the Babylon Bee:
JERUSALEM—Roman authorities are investigating controversial religious leader Jesus of Nazareth for violating the Empire’s clear “stay in tomb” order. After crucifying him and laying him in the tomb, Roman guards put Him under strict orders to stay there and not come back, rising victorious over sin and death.
But Jesus, answering to a higher authority, refused to stay dead and busted out of the tomb, establishing a kingdom that would never end — again, in clear violation of the government’s orders.
“Jesus is a dangerous rebel, refusing to bend the knee to Caesar and not abiding by the law of sin and death,” said one Roman official. “He clearly broke the law by leaving the tomb, and we’re going to be issuing a citation and placing him under mandatory quarantine for these crimes.”
After coming into contact with many large groups over the course of approximately 40 days, Jesus ascended into heaven and is currently thought to be reigning on high.
Authorities are also investigating Him for planning to gather with a large multitude of every tribe, tongue, and nation. He says he currently has no plans to obey any earthly king on the matter, pressing ahead with the gathering of those who believe He died and rose again and trust Him alone for their salvation.

I’ll bet on Macgregor. Vlad wants a “Victory” to celebrate by 9 May Soviet Victory Day and will stage an Eastern Offensive to carve-out the Russian Speaking areas and some other “goodies”.
From what I gather, Russia has thousands of Military/Civilian Hostages already and once the Ukrainian Army of the East surrenders they will have thousands more.
The Usual Suspects will Hoot-n-Holler about Nasty Vlad and evil Russians but “Best” outcome would be a BS UN Peace in Our Time Deal with business as usual ASAP as EU/others need Russia/Ukraine fuel & grain!
Worst case scenario would be ChinaJoe’s Ventriloquist inducing a Wag de Dog conflict to camouflage ALL the Criminal Conduct we have witnessed these past five years.

Surefire solution to dealing with mean girls: Meet them in the eye and picture them as hapless little toddlers. Either they’ll fly into a rage over it and self-combust, or recognize that look as something they haven’t seen in a very long time. Hopefully you’ll get a crack in the ice.
As for mean women: same tactic, but best picture them as babies. And be prepared to duck the first few go rounds. Most are MG pros at that point, mind ya.
Are we just going to abandon all these idiots, or are we going to get our hands dirty?

A fairly long and detailed look at how modern society has been usurped by mean girls who have decended into the POC, LGBT, CRT, fold and how this agenda cane about by users of Tumblr.
“Leftist cancel culture is being driven by the emotionally deranged agenda of teenage girls.”( Bill Hurrell)
https://amgreatness.com/2022/04/15/the-pathological-nature-of-wokeness/
“A major aspect of Tumblr culture has always been social justice ideology. Things that are now being played out and witnessed by the general public on platforms like Twitter and TikTok, like dissociative identity disorder LARPers, demisexuals, neopronouns, otherkin, and everything you see on @LibsOfTikTok, have long existed in an uncannily identical form on tumblr.com. The oppression hierarchy of racial and gender identities now being written into law in many of our once “serious” nations was the state religion of the People’s Republic of Tumblr long before your political junkie uncle knew the term ‘CRT.’ As cultish religions tend to operate, open devotion to the religion is mandatory. Perhaps the outsiders most likely to understand the way social dynamics worked on that website would be survivors of Scientology or the Jehovah’s Witnesses. On Tumblr, the situation was such that any claim to being ‘oppressed’ would accumulate social credibility, while any unfortunate ‘privileged’ status was justification for verbal abuse. As a ‘privileged’ person, you were expected to constantly grovel and apologize, you had no right to speak on any issue involving the group you were ‘oppressing’, and you could not object in any way to any mistreatment hurled against you because of your race, gender, or sexuality.” (Helena Kerschner).

I lean conservative. In my office, I worked with a liberal and culturallyJewish sales account manager originally from New York. We always had cordial discussions and respected each other. It was a good working relationship. Over time, he transferred to one of our California offices. After about 2 years, I was on a phone conversation with him and said, “you must really enjoy living in liberal California. ” He said he hated it. Stunned, I asked, “why?” He said, “Californians cannot take sarcasm.” This surprised me even more. I asked, “but what about all the sit coms and other films that are produced in CA that are loaded with sarcasm? ” his response was, “they are all written and produced by New York Jews.” The inability to cope with sarcasm was confirmed by my son in law who lives in CA. My son in law tells me that Californians cannot deal with sarcasm. So if you are visiting CA, be careful of dry humor and sarcasm. This could force them to require a therapist lest they are not able to retreat to a safe space.—- Sent from Doug’s Back Pack

Seriousness can also be mistaken for sarcasm, I guess it’s easier for people to maintain denial if they just pretend/assume the serious thing said was sarcasm. Of course there’s no voice cues to essily tell the difference in written format.
I’m a lot friendlier, authentic, & down to earth in person. Most of the stuff I write is pure information devoid of personality.

This is so true for most written forms, aldube45 and leaves a lot to be desired in true fellowship. I grew up with and Jesus modeled sitting at a table, breaking bread in true kinship. By far, these gatherings are what feed my heart and soul.
Now, with big brother and its haughty henchmen concocting “social credit scores” I see the good fruit in remaining “quiet” and less engaged in social media, or as I’ve more aptly seen it referred to as social manipulation over Lent. I have prayed and discerned to continue along those lines more fully. In this day and age, being discrete and decorous is an essential path in many ways. When we wear our hearts on our sleeves in good company, I prefer organically directed by God verses organized directed by Google apps.
For that reason I will be signing off of this technically upgraded blog directly, yet will still be following along and continuing to volunteer more indirectly, behind the scenes. Although I will not be visible here, like many CORAC members/leaders, I am in the TNRS-ASOH-CORAC background loving and praying, for each and everyone of you, and value your uniqueness and beauty found in your sharing here! Godspeed.

Another view from another pew that is less broad and a bit focused in my own pondering of this entire thread so far.
After a subdued Lent, I was once again more attuned to the societal backbiting or “mean girl” mentality (pathology) that is alive and well represented by a wide range of ages and both genders that surround us. Every dog has its day! I am generally not a fan of labeling (or name-calling) people. I am however, keen on patterns/cause and effect, and do take note when warranted as a dot on the radar. I question behaviors in daily observing/discerning.
Human beings, by the grace of God, are capable of good will. We are works in progress and in constant change. Evolving and growing best case scenario, static and complacent if one is content with mediocrity and just wishy-washy and seeking to fit in wherever accepted, on the lower spectrum. As a young mom, I thought “phases” were only descriptors for our growing children’s stages of maturation. Then, as an adult, I learned that they are equally applicable to us! So much factors in to who we are/what we become, cradle to grave.
I have in-laws that were into astrology, long ago. I used to kid that I could be any one of the personality traits attributed to select zodiacs any day of the week, and on some days could be all of them within 24 hours. Truth of the matter, is that we all fit those colorful adjectives routinely and should, when and where appropriate. Pinning down a group or an individual to a select attribute, imho, is “hogwash” as Peggy Hall would say! If we are being honest, we all put on a public façade and are different behind closed doors. Human nature. Only God knows our true hearts and minds, as it should be!
A fellow healthcare practitioner who is doing our Lord’s work on the front lines, recently shared in a daily video update to her base that she will and does aggravate people with her stances. She further added that if she were not at times an antagonist, her substantial life’s work would be inconsequential. Hear, hear is what I say to that. Is that mean? To some, yes, and to others not at all. Even Jesus was subjected to such measured and limiting people pleasing nonsense. He rose above it. 😉
We are all present participants in a wicked and sick society! I pray for our conversions and sanctity, my own included. The best use of my time currently is spent actively serving/sharing, self-awareness/learning and silent time in prayer and worship. Outside of that, it is too easy to get caught in the vortex, which is vying to find us caught up in foolishness. I sense that since we are in the process of “an epic changing of the guards” it is best to keep a steady head and balanced footing on all matters before us and not get lost in pettiness.
Happy Easter Monday. ❤

Hey Stevebc…have you heard of any accounts where the “jab,” has increased the bad cholesterol numbers dramatically?!?? We’re talking over 300 in less than a year? Just curious and checking for a friend who off course has been “jabbed!” 😩
LikeLiked by 3 people
Linda, I have not seen much in the way of this as a side effect of the jab but am unsurprised that it might occur. Without knowing the person’s age or weight or anything, I can’t say if the rise is due to normal processes or to the jab. So let me take a general view of the issue.
Cholesterol rises when people lack Vitamin D3 and have high inflammation, among a few other factors. You treat it by raising Vitamin D3 levels in the blood to the 60-100 range and by stopping the eating of seed oils (safflower, sunflower, canola, even olive oil) and processed foods which are all highly inflammatory and then tamp down the inflammation by taking a lot of anti-inflammatories like astaxanthin. I wrote this up on my blog here for just a general discussion:
The jab can *significantly* and even fatally raise inflammation, as the spike protein is highly toxic and damaging. *If* the rise your friend is seeing is from the jabs he/she received, then I would interpret that as indicating a more general set of concerning conditions. I recommend your friend do a test series that is the best I know of, which comes with lots of great interpretive information about the results and then take the results to an alternative physician who can advise on what to do and what supplements to take. The test suite costs $500 and is here at Health Revival Partners, which has ongoing healing programs after the tests are done:

Hey, Linda. I’m not sure where you’re getting hung up. If you can’t go to my website while clicking the image for the paper in my comment above, then you should know that WordPress only makes the headline an active link, not the whole image. You have to hover over and then click on the headline “Understanding Cholesterol.” That will take you to the right page on my website. There, you should read the text and you will come to a “Click Here” link. If you click that link, there should be a slight delay, and then the file should download to your Downloads folder (or whatever folder you have your browser preferences set to for downloading files). Depending on your browser, you may or may not see a positive indication that the download has actually happened. If so, then you should just go to your Downloads folder and see if the file is there. If you can’t do any of those things, you can click this link below to download the file directly, but I prefer you read the text on the main page by following the above guidelines:
https://stevesfrontporch.files.wordpress.com/2021/06/sbaker-cholesterolprotocolideas-v210618.pdf.zip
Also note that the file is what’s called a ZIP file. Once you download it successfully, you need to find it and double-click on the file to unpack it, at which point you will get the PDF file and be able to open it. Note also that you may have downloaded the file but not known where it is on your hard drive. To find it, you can do a hard drive Search for “sbaker-cholesterol” and your computer should be able to find it (and possibly several other copies!).

“Today bring to Me the Souls of those who have separated themselves from My Church*, and immerse them in the ocean of My mercy. During My bitter Passion they tore at My Body and Heart, that is, My Church. As they return to unity with the Church My wounds heal and in this way they alleviate My Passion.”
Most Merciful Jesus, Goodness Itself, You do not refuse light to those who seek it of You. Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Church. Draw them by Your light into the unity of the Church, and do not let them escape from the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart; but bring it about that they, too, come to glorify the generosity of Your mercy.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls of those who have separated themselves from Your Son’s Church, who have squandered Your blessings and misused Your graces by obstinately persisting in their errors. Do not look upon their errors, but upon the love of Your own Son and upon His bitter Passion, which He underwent for their sake, since they, too, are enclosed in His Most Compassionate Heart. Bring it about that they also may glorify Your great mercy for endless ages. Amen.
——————————-
*Our Lord’s original words here were “heretics and schismatics,” since He spoke to Saint Faustina within the context of her times. As of the Second Vatican Council, Church authorities have seen fit not to use those designations in accordance with the explanation given in the Council’s Decree on Ecumenism (n.3). Every pope since the Council has reaffirmed that usage. Saint Faustina herself, her heart always in harmony with the mind of the Church, most certainly would have agreed. When at one time, because of the decisions of her superiors and father confessor, she was not able to execute Our Lord’s inspirations and orders, she declared: “I will follow Your will insofar as You will permit me to do so through Your representative. O my Jesus ” I give priority to the voice of the Church over the voice with which You speak to me” (497). The Lord confirmed her action and praised her for it.

The Twitter thing is shedding some very interesting light onto how this control process is working. The usual justification for Twitter’s hostility towards free speech is that it’s a “private company” that can operate how it sees fit. Of course it isn’t a private company, it’s a publicly traded company that is being operated like a private company. It’s being ruled by an activist board of directors that collectively own very little of the company and are collecting several hundred thousand dollars a year of shareholder money to actively work against shareholder interest. In this way it is behaving like an activist organization using private funds without the actual owners knowing what is happening. I hope Musk keeps the pressure on and causes a significant amount of trouble for these individual board members. Twitter is not a faceless corporation it is a fiefdom controlled by a handful of radicals who are not going like this spotlight.

I loved how in this piece you laid out how God ordered your steps (Not by giving you a map! or by some mystical knowledge!) but by you dealing with the day’s trials that were presented to you in an orderly manner, just doing what was within your ability and within your control. You made the calls, you did the footwork, and left the rest to God. And through that, God’s will was done. That was a wonderful, uplifting piece. And I love hearing the smaller stories about the good people that are out there.

DIVINE MERCY novena
https://www.fultonsheen.institute/divinemercy6
DAY 6: The Meek and Humble Souls and the Souls of Little Children
Today bring to Me the Meek and Humble Souls and the Souls of Little Children, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls most closely resemble My Heart. They strengthened Me during My bitter agony. I saw them as earthly Angels, who will keep vigil at My altars. I pour out upon them whole torrents of grace. I favor humble souls with My confidence.
Most Merciful Jesus, You yourself have said, “Learn from Me for I am meek and humble of heart.” Receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart all meek and humble souls and the souls of little children. These souls send all heaven into ecstasy and they are the heavenly Father’s favorites. They are a sweet-smelling bouquet before the throne of God; God Himself takes delight in their fragrance. These souls have a permanent abode in Your Most Compassionate Heart, O Jesus, and they unceasingly sing out a hymn of love and mercy.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon meek souls, upon humble souls, and upon little children who are enfolded in the abode which is the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls bear the closest resemblance to Your Son. Their fragrance rises from the earth and reaches Your very throne. Father of mercy and of all goodness, I beg You by the love You bear these souls and by the delight You take in them: Bless the whole world, that all souls together may sing out the praises of Your mercy for endless ages. Amen.

A horrific event last night in California. The State Assembly passed a Bill that allows killing of babies after birth. Infanticide! The good people of CA rallied to try and stop this abomination, but all the demons were inside, the good were outside. God help us!

DIVINE MERCY novena
DAY 7: The Souls who especially venerate and glorify My Mercy*
Today bring to Me the Souls who especially venerate and glorify My Mercy*, and immerse them in My mercy. These souls sorrowed most over my Passion and entered most deeply into My spirit. They are living images of My Compassionate Heart. These souls will shine with a special brightness in the next life. Not one of them will go into the fire of hell. I shall particularly defend each one of them at the hour of death.
Most Merciful Jesus, whose Heart is Love Itself, receive into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls of those who particularly extol and venerate the greatness of Your mercy. These souls are mighty with the very power of God Himself. In the midst of all afflictions and adversities they go forward, confident of Your mercy; and united to You, O Jesus, they carry all mankind on their shoulders. These souls will not be judged severely, but Your mercy will embrace them as they depart from this life.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls who glorify and venerate Your greatest attribute, that of Your fathomless mercy, and who are enclosed in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. These souls are a living Gospel; their hands are full of deeds of mercy, and their hearts, overflowing with joy, sing a canticle of mercy to You, O Most High! I beg You O God:
Show them Your mercy according to the hope and trust they have placed in You. Let there be accomplished in them the promise of Jesus, who said to them that during their life, but especially at the hour of death, the souls who will venerate this fathomless mercy of His, He, Himself, will defend as His glory. Amen.
————————————-
*The text leads one to conclude that in the first prayer directed to Jesus, Who is the Redeemer, it is “victim” souls and contemplatives that are being prayed for; those persons, that is, that voluntarily offered themselves to God for the salvation of their neighbor (see Col 1:24; 2 Cor 4:12). This explains their close union with the Savior and the extraordinary efficacy that their invisible activity has for others. In the second prayer, directed to the Father from whom comes “every worthwhile gift and every genuine benefit,”we recommend the “active” souls, who promote devotion to The Divine Mercy and exercise with it all the other works that lend themselves to the spiritual and material uplifting of their brethren.

I’ve been pondering how quickly and easily a large number of people seem to sign on to every new narrative that is presented to them immediately (Vaccine passports, Ukraine war, oil prices etc.) It “may” not be as bad as it seems because those most prone to public comment on narrative-boosting media platforms are easy prey for the narratives to start with, and those are the same ones who are suckers for all the narratives. It is a big enough problem though because a large part of society in the West seems to be suffering from collective dissociation disorder. The complexity of society and distance most of us have between ourselves and the raw materials that provide for our lifestyles (energy, food production, commodities) allow people to mentally dissociate events from their consequences and fail to understand that existential risks to the system exist. Even those in some of these industries are a cog in the machine and don’t see a larger picture. We are a society that has gone too far down the road of prosperity by finance to imagine that real things can’t be fixed by a click of a button on a computer or a declaration by the government. Russia and China seem to be a bit better grounded in this and are using it against us.
We are also a society of people who seem very easy to manipulate emotionally, perhaps due to the loss of purpose in secular society? Without purpose people may just cling on to any emotionally charged narrative and adopt it as their purpose. The West are a people who are ruled via narrative. It isn’t too much different than tribes of cavemen believing that starvation was happening because they performed the rain dance incorrectly. Weirdly we seem to be regressing to a pre-scientific and pagan mentality in a lot of ways, and if we aren’t careful we are going to wind up in a pre-scientific era in reality as well. I wonder if that is because science was able to develop only in and because of Christian Western culture, and as that is rejected, the underlying philosophy of science gives way too.
As a consequence we seem to have people incapable of connecting events together in a causal chain. The “blame Putin/oil companies/Covid etc” narratives are easy for narrative authors to push because people aren’t connecting events in their minds. Never mind that chaos is resulting due to our response to the invasion of Ukraine more than the invasion itself. A regional war should never threaten the entire global supply chain and economic system and it wouldn’t absent these “sanctions.” Instead of mitigating the larger effects of the war, the West is amplifying them. Same for Covid and many other problems. This is why I am sure of nefarious intentions, because globalist leadership is certainly smart and aware enough to know what they are doing and yet they persist because they have lost any belief in consequences to themselves and are fully confident they can control any narrative using media and social media tools. They are actually wrong in both of course because the hubris of the powerful is always pretty hard to break, but God will win.

Hi USNLT76YAHOOCOM,
“Weirdly we seem to be regressing to a pre-scientific and pagan mentality in a lot of ways, and if we aren’t careful we are going to wind up in a pre-scientific era in reality as well.”
We’re missing many rungs of knowledge that got us to the top of the ladder of knowledge, if society ever fell off the ladder of knowledge, we wouldn’t be able to climb back up easily again. Our dependence on technology makes us vulnerable, if the infrastructure ever falls apart, once the resources are used up, who really knows how to blacksmith new tools & stuff like nails?
How did the Egyptians build the pyramids so mathematically? How did Noah build the ark so strong & effective? There’s archeological discoveries that defy the theory that humans were always primitive hunters & gatherers. Humanity has reached levels of knowledge in the past only to fall on their pride and loose that knowledge…

Wow, some great insight here, usnlt. The anti-God left is not just assaulting truth and memory, but salting the very ground in which truth and memory can flourish by attacking Christian Western culture. That is worthy of some very serious contemplation.

Charlie,
This raises the issue I have been struggling with lately. I have a question for discernment that I would like your prayerful input on.
I have the means to buy a couple strong work horses and some horse drawn agricultural equipment, like a plow, cutter, harrow, etc. I am trying to discern whether that would be prudent and I thought I’d reach out to get your prayerful thoughts.
The reason is that I have cattle and sheep (just 20 sheep and 10 head of cattle) and will need to feed them. I bought them for a source of protein and milk in case things collapse (and to reduce my grocery bill in the meantime – we have lots of kids). I have some good acreage in pasture for the summer and hay for the winter, but will need to cut and harvest the hay for the winter. I may also need to seed more acreage in hay if this is a prolonged collapse (or re-start) that will make diesel powered ag equipment useless.
I viewed your last video message which addressed how complete the breakdown is likely to be. I am wondering how long you and others think it will last. To this point, I have only bought things that I can use anyway, even if things level out. This purchase, however, would only come in handy if diesel powered ag equipment becomes inoperable. So, I am looking for additional discernment here (not the answer – which I will be accountable for – but input).
There are a couple Amish communities within a couple hours of us, so I suppose I could try to sell the equipment into those communities, in the event they are not needed. But otherwise, I would not normally use these pieces of equipment, as I have a tractor, cutter, rake, baler, etc..
Any thoughts you might have would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!!

Good question, Joe. My main tools for considering such things are to ask A) if the planned purchase would be useful even if things smoothed out; B) would it be vital to what I do if things do not smooth out and C) will it fit into my budget without making my family undergo unreasonable sacrifice.
I just recently bought two old-fashioned rolodexes and an adult tricycle with a basket on the back. Both purchases were marginal on question A, but very valid on B and C. Use those criteria and I think you will come to a good decision.
A couple of years ago, an old friend from high school whose wife reads me regularly told me wryly, “I have a six-month supply of chicken teriyaki in the basement. I blame you.” Last time I visited them he said, “About that six-month supply of chicken teriyaki in the basement – thanks.”

I can’t answer your question, Joe (and it is a good one), but it made me think of Small Farmer’s Journal ~ a really well done paper-and-ink journal (also with an online presence) that has subscribers around the country if not the world. It’s headquartered in the town nearest to my forest community. The owners/publishers are passionate about the subject and practice what they preach!

Joe, the depth and length of this saga will vary from place to place so having any number of options is not a bad idea. Charlie’s encouragement to seek out our neighbor can define what YOU need by what they have and can do and then you barter between them for what you have and can do. Nobody can do it all and many hands make light work.

There is a science fiction book written in 1959 titled Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller, Jr. The book is set in the future after a nuclear war, which did not end civilization. However, the anger of the survivors at their leaders and their scientists caused them to destroy all technology and to burn all books. Society fell back into a subsistence agrarian mode where even the leaders could not read, write or do math. Only small groups of monks, like their earlier brothers in the dark ages, kept alive what learning remained. They eventually handed the knowledge on to society when it was ready with some interesting results. The book is extremely Catholic. Through the characters the author deals with the issues of the interplay of faith, reason and earthly knowledge that can be used for God’s purposes or not.
I first read the book in high school over forty years ago. I happened to find it on Audible last summer and read (listened to) it again. I loved it both times. The passing of nearly fifty years did give me some perspectives that I did not have at age eighteen. Even before the Ukraine war the book seemed to speak to our current situation. In light of the “woke” culture of destruction and the war brining us to the edge of a nuclear nightmare, the book now seems almost prophetic.
I think the book is out of print, but it is on Audible. My wife was able to find a paperback copy for me at an online used bookstore for a reasonable price.
If you are looking for summer reading material, I would recommend this book.

It kind of hit me when meditating on the aspect of God that is Truth. If humanity rejects God it’s not only religious truth that goes, it’s truth period, including scientific truth. It’s naive of people to think that the post-modern philosophies that attack truth won’t also erode the foundation of science. Futurist types seem to think that science replaces religion, but truth underpins both. It’s even happening explicitly now with “post-colonial mathematics” that doubt mathematical theories if they are products of “oppressor classes.” We may be looking at true dark age coming.

Hi Charlie, we’ve been living in a dark age as far back as the Theory of Evoltion” attack on the Bible’s Genesis account, and it got worse when the Dictatorship of Relativism (Benedict XVI) began taking over.
Some believe Liberalism is the root of these evils. Certainly, the peoples’ will doesn’t overule God no matter how many people there are…

It’s Liberal thinking! Reality doesn’t change just because propeople refuse to believe the facts & truths, reality doesn’t change because people believe in something else, and reality certainly doesn’t change even if a person claims they are a expert or in charge.
God’s word is the truth and it’s absolute, meaning it doesn’t bend nor change over time no matter the circumstances nor whoever disagrees with God’s word. God’s word is eternal and will never become outdated. Heaven & Eartb will pass away, but God’s word is trutb & eternal.

The Judeo/Christian operation prevalent in the West over the last 2 millennium created the “way” we think today.
To agree with that paradigm is to agree with the philosophy that created it. The Great Reset wants to demonize that way of thinking as opressive of the past pagan “earthly” cultures that are now considered more in union with “Mother Earth” and therefore to be embraced for the sake of the “planet” but not necessarily for humans who are now believed to be a type of pestilence upon the earth. Since they have nothing in common with Judeo/Christian morality and actually believe it stifles normal human (as animals) behavior it is thus oppressive. The launch of ever more laws to protect deviant behaviors by these official reprobates clearly shows how one descends into chaos when they pull away from the Source of all goodness and embrace the demonic influences of the past.

Yes. That is true. It fundamentally boils down to a non belief in God or a misaligned belief. This gives them rationale to define tuth however they see it. The irony is it is a logical conclusion to their belief.—- Sent from Doug’s Back Pack

“We are building a dictatorship of relativism that does not recognize anything as definitive and whose ultimate goal consists solely of one’s own ego and desires,
There are some who now seek to exclude religious belief from public discourse, to privatize it or even to paint it as a threat to equality and liberty.
We are now witnessing the “dictatorship of relativism” which “does not recognize anything as absolute and leaves as the ultimate measure only the measure of each one and his desires,”.

Day 8
“Today bring to Me the Souls who are in the prison of Purgatory, and immerse them in the abyss of My mercy. Let the torrents of My Blood cool down their scorching flames. All these souls are greatly loved by Me. They are making retribution to My justice. It is in your power to bring them relief. Draw all the indulgences from the treasury of My Church and offer them on their behalf. Oh, if you only knew the torments they suffer, you would continually offer for them the alms of the spirit and pay off their debt to My justice.”
Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion. Amen.
