Amid the swirling chaos it can be hard to see that attitudes are changing. Last week, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis lifted nearly all Covid restrictions in his state – and promised work on a “bill of rights” to protect college students from being expelled for attending a party. Now if all you do is watch the establishment media, you would think that is typical of that heartless governor. People who only get their news from the MSNBCNNABCBS complex have been told ad nauseum that DeSantis has been a colossal failure while New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been a spectacular success. Such types are shocked and disbelieving when I tout the fact that, per capita, New York’s reported death rate is almost three times as high as Florida’s. With a death rate second only to New Jersey, New York could have been in the middle of the pack had Cuomo not forced vulnerable senior citizens into nursing homes, which became death camps for them.
You probably do not know that, for over a month now, Sweden has had a lower Covid death rate than the United States – and that it continues to fall. You heard a lot about Sweden when it first refused to go along with mass shutdowns and economic destruction as the way to deal with this virus. The media and political types screamed about how this “risky” experiment was going to result in massive death in Sweden. Swedish health system head, Dr. Anders Tegnell, absolutely refused to join the rest of the world in “using a hammer to kill a fly,” as he characterized mass lockdowns. He counted on the common sense of an informed public without restricting their freedom. He was right. If you had an honest press, they would be looking at what Sweden did anew with respect, because it worked, particularly since the states in America that have had the most draconian rules have largely been the states that are having the worst outcomes. If you want a handy guide to how bad your state has been impacted, generally the bluer the state and more draconian the restrictions, the worse the results. But the left is not interested in protecting the public; they want to scare them to death to facilitate leftist control. It is not the facts that count here, only the narrative.
The media has chosen to be monster shouters on this subject, filling some otherwise very good, honest people with a visceral dread of this variant of the flu. It is a variant that poses some significant dangers for an easily identifiable, but narrow, slice of the population, but is largely innocuous to everyone who is not included in that slice. I have been astonished at how many people have cited nasty misinformation from various media outlets as authoritative. The astonishment has been that so many have regarded news outlets as authoritative. Throughout my life, I have routinely done spot checks on every source I go to, comparing actual data to what they say. I have always been appalled at how misinformed and intellectually deficient much of the media is. For a source to be trusted in my mind, they have to have cleared multiple such spot checks – and if they fail one, they go on probation for a while. The MSNBCNNABCBS complex has not been on my trusted list for decades (though a few reporters there make the cut sometimes).
The problem was summed up for me when Dr. Scott Atlas, after destroying many of the myths touted by the politically corrupted CDC at a press conference, was asked by a reporter, “How do we know who to believe?” Atlas replied that the reporter could read the actual data. It was clear to me that almost none of these guys are actual researchers or newspeople; they are pretentious yuppies who choose their brand of “expert” as if they were getting a Hermes tie or a Pierre Cardin suit and think themselves followers of science because they choose all the trendiest brands. In short, they are incompetent, pretentious ne’er-do-wells. And much of the general public is the same way. They choose “Folgers’ news because of the brand and never drill down into the hard data. And the overseers have found a shiny new toy with which to enforce their authoritarian fantasies. Unless there is HEAVY pushback and punishment of all the monster-shouters after the election, medical “emergencies” will be the fulcrum upon which every effort to subject and enslave the sovereign people of this country hinge in the future. It worked this time. Why not the next? The left does not care how they seize power over the folksies, only that they succeed.
When any organization trades intellectual rigor for ideological pretensions, there will ultimately be a collapse of credibility, but they can skate along for a long time on a reputation that was built by better men than them – and that they are no longer worthy of. When the tide shifts, though, it is ugly and the denouement can happen suddenly. I see signs that, rather than cruising to victory and pre-eminence, the superstitious left is heading for catastrophic collapse – and reading the signs that point to that is what this piece is about.

“The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath.” – Mark 2:27
Way back in the 80’s I worried that many good people, preoccupied with their jobs and families, accepted at face value ill-considered liberal policy proposals that, frankly, were patently absurd. I realized that a lot of good-hearted people knew the plans didn’t sound right, but humbly figured that these are what the “smart” people recommended and they must surely know what they were talking about. Even then I saw that, the more the liberals got by with their absurd proposals and were not held to account for the failures inherent to that absurdity, the more brazen they got. It struck me that if this cycle continued unabated, it would eventually reach a tipping point where it would all collapse under the weight of its own internal contradictions. (That is a formulation I have often used: back in high school I wrote a paper predicting that the Soviet Union would collapse before the end of the century under the weight of its internal contradictions. I was delighted when Ronald Reagan, St. John Paul II, and Margaret Thatcher gave it a good hard shove to speed up the process.)
The evidence is in now. All the folks who claim to be most devoted to science and spend the most money to come up with science-based edicts (actually, not real science, but #science) produce the worst outcomes and tend to aggravate and compound problems. Bureaucratic “experts” who think themselves masters of the universe whose edicts must be obeyed turn out to actually be the village idiots – but with nasty attitudes. Turns out man was not made for #science, but science for man. If it doesn’t solve problems, you need a new approach.
If you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Two of the last three Democratic presidents have not acted as if their job was to solve problems and make America prosperous, free and safe. Instead, both Jimmy Carter and Barack Obama failed miserably on the economy, and both domestic and foreign policy – and assured us that our best days were behind us, that this was the new normal, they were managing the decline as well as anyone could, and we folksies just had to suck it up. Obama was particularly contemptuous when lecturing us that manufacturing jobs could not come back without a magic wand, 6+ unemployment was the new normal and so was anemic annual GDP growth of less than two percent. As much as I disagreed profoundly with much of Bill Clinton’s agenda, I have to give the man his props: he did act as if he knew his job was to solve problems and make them better rather than to fail miserably and then explain to us rubes why that was the best anyone could do.
The left is not interested in solving problems. Rather, they are vested in a self-actualization project to convince themselves they are the smartest of them all despite the disasters that inevitably follow their rule. The big problem for them, I suspect, is that the folksies have finally caught up with them – and have had all they can take of the left’s bilious pretensions to intellectual superiority while destroying everything they touch.
*********
First Things Magazine has a deeply insightful piece up this month describing how Russia degenerated into tyranny a little over a hundred years ago – and the consistent efforts at destabilization and chaos by the left for almost 20 years before the nation fell. Actually, ever since the bloody French Revolution, the playbook for leftist totalitarian movements have been depressingly consistent. 1) Agitate constantly against a government which has lost the will and confidence to decisively punish violent domestic insurrection, 2) seize power when that government is completely exhausted, 3) imprison and execute those allies which might have the will and means to fight back when they see the betrayal, and 4) then rule by terror that is arbitrary and capricious. The Third step is critical to cement the deal: besides eliminating potential rivals, it completely demoralizes opponents who see that, if this is how the new rulers treat their friends, their open opponents can expect no mercy.
The left is barreling frantically to its Waterloo. But let no one be mistaken. We have a fight ahead of us. The left will not go quietly into its dark night. Those of us of serious faith must all become counter-revolutionaries. America was founded as a government that would stay out of your way, only doing those things collectively that you genuinely could not do yourself or through voluntary associations. One of the few things it was called to defend with vigor was your rights and freedoms against the pretensions of any authority. The rights that the federal government was called to defend were real rights – those given by the eternal God, that exist before the existence of the state, not made-up entitlements that political partisans errantly call “rights.” For some time, Americans have come to look to government for the solution to all problems – while most of those problems get progressively worse the more money and government regulation thrown at them. We have little heeded Ronald Reagan’s warning that a government strong enough to give you everything you need is also strong enough to take everything you have. We can be an independent, self-governing people, or the servile dependents of a bureaucratic leviathan. We can’t be both.
This election will not resolve the question of whether we will once again become a free independent, self-governing people. It will tell us what battle we must fight in order to regain our liberty. If there is a huge Republican victory, if we act with firm fortitude, the bureaucratic revolution that assails us can be de-fanged with primarily retrograde actions and a minimum of violence. If there is a huge Democratic victory, it will require a great and sustained battle to regain the most basic liberty. The greatest fear I have is not over how big the inevitable battle will be – or even that our liberty will be permanently lost. Rather, it is that those who defend liberty will do so almost entirely under a purely secular perspective. In that case, we would ultimately just trade one set of masters for another. Without a firm and living awareness of our reliance on God, freedom can no more flourish than cypress trees in the desert. I have no doubt of what is ahead. I assume victory, whatever impediments may come in the meantime (and do not doubt that those impediments are big ones). But the nature of that victory is critical. Without God, it will be the illusory interlude before the next authoritarian takeover. With God, freedom may ring from every Church and square in the land.
I absolutely oppose the depredations of the violent left – and support meeting them with firm force, including violence if they will not leave their neighbors in peace. A culture has both the right to and the obligation of self-defense. Those who use violence to defend against violent depredations are not morally equivalent to those who instigate violence against otherwise peaceful, innocent people. The former can be brave and noble. The latter are invariably depraved and vicious. It hurts my heart to see that the most vicious, snarling people usually have yard signs that read. “Love trumps hate,” and that the most hateful people I know put up signs reading, “Hate has no home here.” A great, if somewhat flawed, Democratic President, Franklin Roosevelt, once told a shaken nation that, “we have nothing to fear but fear itself.” If Roosevelt gave that speech today, he would be drummed out of the Democratic Party – for the only thing this once great party has to offer anymore is fear, itself.
I know that a host of people in the world today do not believe in God. It’s not cool, the ignorant think it’s not logical. For everyone who wants to play at being smart on the cheap, the first thing they do is abandon belief in God. This, I am convinced, is the source of so much of the agony and despair that hangs over our culture like a shroud. Yet I am equally convinced that, in their heart of hearts, most people quietly and desperately hope there is God. Let us fight to win, but may our efforts be calculated not just to win the battle, but to win our opponents back to God, sparking new hope in them, even as we hearten and support each other. Long ago, I was good friends with the late Rob Sherman, then the national spokesman for the American Atheists. One of my proudest moments came when he quietly told me that if most Christians were like me, he would have to seriously re-think his position. I keep that in mind even as I vigorously fight and oppose the depredations of the Godless left. It is why I so admire Abraham Lincoln and St. Joan of Arc. Any who doubted their commitment to victory were likely to find themselves with their head in their hands – but each of these noble souls had open arms for those who would sue for peace. They sought reconciliation as firmly and tirelessly as they sought victory. I am firmly and unalterably committed to destroying our enemies, but my preferred method of destruction is to make them our friends and, more importantly, to make them God’s friends.
Ultimate victory is assured. How much terror and destruction we must go through is dependent on the nature of the victory we commit to.

Last week, David Daleiden released a short video history of his interactions with Kamala Harris. It beautifully illustrates Harris’ modus operandus: submit to her or be crushed, justice be damned. This is what they have planned for this country if they prevail. My attitude is one with Gandalf: you shall not pass.
Bravo, Charlie! A magnificent piece. Outstanding! Nice touch with the Battle of Lepanto image. And the links are so worth the read… even if people don’t have the immediate time to do so, I hope they come back to read them later. Amen and Amen to every point and example you give. The piece about the research replication crisis was excellent and so telling.

I like Joan of Arc best of all my books; and it is the best; I know it perfectly well. And besides, it furnished me seven times the pleasure afforded me by any of the others; twelve years of preparation, and two years of writing. The others needed no preparation and got none.

Walked into a Dollar Tree yesterday without a muzzle of submission in defiance of our local ordinance. If you’re familiar with that chain you’ll know that most of those stores aren’t very big. I didn’t count but I would estimate 15 people were there. Not a word from anybody. I got a couple second glances but that’s it. The girl at the checkout clearly gave me a second look but conducted the transaction normally. I would suppose $7.25/hr doesn’t exactly motivate her to be an enforcer but my point is this: The tinpot local/state/federal dictators (and retail managers & employees) won’t end this nonsense until enough people start telling them they’re #1, if you know what I mean.
Some of the people in that store might have been devoted CoronaCold disciples but some may be as fed up as I am. Seeing me might have been ASOH for them and given them a spark of courage knowing there are others.
Time to take a stand. No fake exemption cards, no ADA or HIPAA invocations, just do it.

Christopher J., Kim, I applaud this and I am firmly against mandatory masking (evil). Everyone who can do so safely, should. They have criminalized non-maskers in CT. I have had 2 mild confrontations. A wise friend told me: “right action, wrong time” So now it’s keeping my head down. I’ve no doubt war is coming, and coming fast. Lately, I’m not certain me/mine will survive it, physically. God’s will be done! I’m striving to stay in His will, and asking for that grace for all I love. With His grace, the outcome will be spectacular either way. 😉

I’ve been listening to Fr. Calloway’s podcast on the Rosary. Then reading this post plus feeling discombobulated due to the first school year being retired has left me in a swirl of sorts. Since we can’t do what we had intended to do this fall(go traveling around the country), I am having to regroup. In the podcast, Fr. talks about it is how it is kind of like God is grounding us and sending us to our rooms to learn how to be disciplined with our prayer life. I’m sorry I am kind of rambling. I am hoping a rabbit will eventually pop out. Anyway, I am learning the my new purpose(instead of traveling) is to be that prayer warrior, to unsheathe that sword and use it. My husband and I are semi-reclusive uncomfortable around a lot of people. In a round about way both this post and Fr. Calloway is showing me what my purpose is developing to be. I’m sorry this is so disjointed.

HTTP, I am in similar circumstances of being newly retired so I can relate to your comments. Damian Stayne & Cor et Lumen Christi have been doing Sunday afternoon teachings on prayer and preparation on YouTube (8 pm UK time / it’s 3 pm for me EST). This past Sunday was excellent. I hope that it is still available to view. He sees this as a time to grow in humility, unity and increased faith in God for the miraculous. He also has been giving individual prophetic words for healing at the end of his teaching which people have been confirming. (My R knee was healed as I watched.) God is showing that Covid-19 doesn’t limit Him from reaching out to His people with good teaching, encouragement, prophetic words and healing.

Democrats Hiss In Terror As ACB Pulls Out Crucifix
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Amy Coney Barrett has eloquently defended herself through the Senate confirmation hearings this morning. But as Dems grew increasingly vicious, she was forced to turn to desperate measures.
After several hours of hearings, Barrett pulled out a large crucifix and held it aloft. A light shone from the heavens, and the Democrats knew they were defeated.
They shrunk back and began to hiss. “Noooo!” cried Senator Richard Blumenthal. “It burns us! Take it away!” He dove under his desk to hide from its light.
“Agggghhhh!!!” screamed Senator Cory Booker, his skin sizzling at the sight of Jesus on the cross. “I’ll get you one day, Barrett!”
“Looks like Booker’s blasting off again!” he shouted as he jumped through the wall like the Kool-Aid Man in an attempt to escape the burning.
Senator Mazie Hirono made a loud hissing noise and growled at the cross. Her head began to turn around and around like a demonic owl. Then, she vomited pea soup.

Hope she still has that cross, guess we shouldn’t be surprised: 88 of ACB’s Notre Dame colleagues are asking her to step down from the SC confirmation process: (excerpt from link below),
“…Finally, your nomination comes at a treacherous moment in the United States. Our politics are consumed by polarization, mistrust, and fevered conspiracy theories,” they wrote. “You have the opportunity to offer an alternative to all that by demanding that your nomination be suspended until after the election.”
“We’re asking a lot, we know. Should Vice-President Biden be elected, your seat on the court will almost certainly be lost,” the group wrote. “That would be painful, surely.
“Yet there is much to be gained in risking your seat,” the letter continued. “You would earn the respect of fair-minded people everywhere. You would provide a model of civic selflessness. And you might well inspire Americans of different beliefs toward a renewed commitment to the common good.
We wish you well and trust you will make the right decision for our nation.”

It’s a funny article, but I thought there was a tender moment in the exchange between Cory Booker and Amy Barrett where he appeared to be charmed by her. When he asked if she had compassion for people lacking healthcare, she mentioned learning of the absence of basic things like antibiotics in Haiti when she was adopting her daughter, and it seemed like he was impressed by her.

Yes, definitely know people like this!
I will say in her defense that the one friend I posted about earlier who shares many beliefs but to keep the peace it’s better not to delve too deeply into politics or the China virus, was supportive as far as my prayer needs for a recent dental visit and called to see how I was doing. So we can keep the conversation between us light, and if we both pray sincerely and earnestly, hope that the Holy Spirit will guide us. What more can one do to introduce people to news that isn’t offered in the mainstream media, or news that is censored by the msm, and who are skeptical of other news sources as being “conspiracy theories”? Again to my friend’s credit, she will accept news sources that sound respectable, like CNA (Catholic News Agency) when there are two news stories mentioning the same topic, or Gateway Pundit when it references the “authoritative” CDC. Part of it gets down to how people are personally affected by the news, so that’s another filter .. .and that said, the Bible declares that the Truth shall set you free.
Another telling example from an encounter I had with someone else, a neighbor way back in the past … We were from different political parties, and for some reason, she did not want to believe that President Bill Clinton would ever eat at McDonald’s. So one day, I knocked on her door bearing a newspaper article with photographic proof of Bill Clinton standing in McDonald’s Restaurant!
My neighbor’s response: “Oh, well I can’t believe that … Because if I did, it would mean that I’d have to change.”
(Mic drop.)

Thanks Charlie, a great piece With lots to think about . A couple of years our Parish Priest put on an exhibition
This included St Joan of Arcs suit of armour, he couldn’t say where he borrowed it from but I can say he has many friends in high places. I was amazed to see how petite it was. It just made me think . Petite but with God behind her how powerful she became.

Hi Charlie , further info , The suit of armour had been in an English family and was donated by Churchill to the French President at the end of WW1, (Churchill was the Minister of Defence at the time.) The President wasnt christian and he gave it to a good catholic family who lent it to our Parish. No other exhibitions have taken place as the the family feel that certain elements would want to destroy it. It is currently hidden somewhere . Perhaps sometime in the future when conditions are more favourable it will be displayed for all to see. God Willing

Crew Dog, what a fine description of our state here-“universal deception”. It’s in our politics, all branches of government, our press and even in our medical establishment and in our scientific community. I just finished reading on Breitbart about a scientific report on climate change and renewables. The left is not going to like it but hard facts illuminate truth. I have never witnessed such bold and outright bearing of false witness by so many including Joe Biden.

From an e-mail friend 😉
Wear your mask! ……. “Let’s go out to eat, 2020 style”…
1. Arrive at restaurant, fish three month old single-use surgical mask out of car’s filthy cupholder (still slightly sticky from this morning’s 84oz diet Pepsi).
2.Strap up with three month old single-use surgical mask.
MAGICAL ANTI-GERM BARRIER ENGAGE!!!
3.Proceed into restaurant, opening door with same handle grabbed by 200 people so far today.
4.Hostess has immediate seating for your party of three. Walk past entire restaurant of unmasked people. It’s ok, they’re sitting.
5.Sit down.
SEATED ANTI-GERM FORCEFIELD ENGAGE!!!
6.Safely within your anti-germ forcefield, remove mask. Browse menu while making relaxed inhales of the same recirculated AC air previously inside the lungs of the 200 people that also grabbed the door handle.
7.Waitress drops off drinks bare handed.
8.Grab drink with your bare hand. Sip leisurely, secure in knowing you’re within your anti-germ forcefield of seatedness.
9.Too many drinks. Need to pee. Don the magical anti-germ barrier mask as you leave your anti-germ forcefield of seatedness.
10.Walk past 40 unmasked restaurant patrons. Open bathroom with same door knob grabbed by 100 other people so far today.
11.Return to table past same 40 unmasked restaurant patrons.
12.Remove mask. Once again safe in your anti-germ forcefield of seatedness. Waitress takes your sweaty drink glass with her bare hand, refills, hands back to you. You accept with your bare hand. Grab some bread and eat it. Same hand. Yum Yum.
13.Meal complete. Mask on. Walk past 40 unmasked patrons. Make full body contact with at least 4 people waiting at the hostess stand as you squeeze your way back to the door – no matter, they’re all also wearing their magical anti-germ barriers.
14.Grab exit handle, which you are now the 220th person of the day to touch. Eating out successful.
15.Breathe a sigh of relief knowing that even after leaving the protection of your home and venturing out into the scary world of the public, you are essentially sterile thanks to your state approved methods of magical germ mitigation.”

We have a plethora of them laying around the car cup holders. We long ago stop noticing which one belongs to whom. I do carry a package of new ones but at a $1.00 a piece…. I tend to save the new ones for special occasions. Every once in awhile I just look at the mess and think “Oh, no, I probably should grab a clean one.”

Hahahaha, I can tell which one I wore while getting my hair cut however. It is lined by little pieces of hair on the inside! Oh great, breathing in hair snippets. If the. Mask can’t keep out visible pieces of hair how in the world would it keep out the invisible? This is beyond belief. Is there any level beyond the emperor has no clothes? We need a new marker to measure this absurdity.

There is a prime example of this in my turtle world. One of the new rules for shipping is when filling out the paperwork one of the questions is ” is there a risk to the species survival potential in the wild by exporting this species?”. Interestingly, some of these animals are extinct in the wild and the only living examples are those that are bred in captivity? But the bigger question is why do the “scientists” in charge of the permitting need the captive breeders to give evidence on whether these animals are compromising to wild populations when they are mere farmers and not environmental impact researchers? Seems either they are slowly moving towards a complete shut down or, as you assert, being quaint in their perspective positions as politically correct enforcers with no expertise or clue to their duty while trying to be cute as environmental enforcers which is completely outside their traditional role of ensuring the legal transference of animals between countries.

Ran across this analysis of what the heck is going on today by James Howard Kunstler. I won’t include the link but I think you can find it by looking up his article entitled “What’s Behind No Show Joe”. Kunstler occasionally uncorks a socio political observation which makes some sense and this is one of them.
What is curious to Kunstler as it should be to all of us is the disconnect between what we see and hear for ourselves re: the Biden Campaign and what the POLLS and the MEDIA are telling us. What we see is that the emperor ain’t got no clothes on. What the polls and the media are telling us is that Biden is 14 points ahead and Trump is facing certain defeat.
So what gives with this? His conclusion gives hint to the battle we face as described by Charlie above.
It won’t be easy because of the existential stakes for so many people.
From Kunstler’s article:
” … we’re living in the days of fantastic high-tech information mischief. Virtually all of the traditional news media, plus the powerful new social media, plus the news media of foreign lands, and scores of other embeds in the federal bureaucracy, are behind the story that Ol’ White Joe and his understudy, Ms. Harris, are way ahead in the polls. Do you ask yourself, as I must, whether this is all a gigantic psy-op? And why would it be? ….
….. Durham’s crew is methodically making a case for the worst and largest seditious conspiracy in US history. It requires the most extreme care. They are not going to blow it by allowing any suspicion that it is being used as a campaign ploy on behalf of Mr. Trump. …..
….. Sometime after the election and before the 20th of January, a great big hammer is going to come down on the people who organized the RussiaGate op and many of its spinoffs. As the late Tom Petty observed, the waiting is the hardest part, and not only for those in the Counter-resistance who have already connected the felonious dots based on publicly available documents, but also for the targets of the Barr-Durham RussiaGate probe, the Resistance itself — the long log of Obama Admin officials, Clinton campaign minions, and even senators who worked to prevent Donald Trump’s election by foul means and then tried to disable and overthrow him when it didn’t work, in order to cover up their criminal culpability.
You understand that the targets of Barr and Durham are ALMOST ALL LAWYERS, Democratic Party-connected lawyers, that is. And so, what they are doing in the shadows of Joe Biden’s ghost campaign is attempting to mount a last-ditch lawyers’ assault on their antagonists, who have regained control of a rogue Justice Department. Thus: LAWFARE. If RussiaGate was the most dastardly crime of government against itself ever in US history, then the final result will be the most awful roundup and prosecution of disgraced former officials ever seen in the history of the world’s great nations. Criminal liability may even extend into the news media itself — though they may only be named as unindicted co-conspirators.
Thus too, the unanimity in the news media on not reporting the documents lately declassified by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) John Ratcliffe, and his predecessor Rick Grenell. What had been a slow dribble of documents zealously protected by seditionists still in office — namely CIA chief Gina Haspel and FBI director Christopher Wray — is becoming a torrent of incriminating information as it is finally pried from their hands. The real story is getting out there, into the public realm, by other means despite the attempts to suppress it — and none of it is coming from Barr and Durham. Their work constructing a difficult case goes on independent of those declassified releases. It is driving the Resistance batsh** crazy.
Hence, all the noises emanating from Lawfare circles about the monumental legal battle to come over the mail-in vote. So high are the stakes — so many careers possibly broken and celebrated figures sent to trial, maybe even prison — that the Democratic Party’s Lawfare gang will dare to confound the resolution of a presidential election and disrupt a 200-plus year history of orderly government. They will mount scores of lawsuits in every swing state against its slate of electors in an effort to thwart an electoral college vote scheduled for December 14. They won’t care whether they turn the USA into a failed state. They just desperately want to get their friends and colleagues off the hook.
All this is why the Biden-Harris campaign is such a dispirited fiasco. They don’t matter. Their only “policy” is to front for a lawyer network aimed at protecting its members at any cost. Their aim is to hijack what’s left of America’s legal system in order to destroy it. They went public with the scheme in the so-called Transition Integrity Project and the “war game” it ran over the summer. That scenario seemed feasible up to the sudden death of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The confirmation of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court will change the odds of that scheme greatly against them… and they know it.”
High stakes. Biden is way ahead in the polls? The pollsters and the media may get drawn into the treason discussion me thinks.
Lee Smith has done an analysis that travels all the way back to those 33,000 Hillary Clinton e:mails.
https://amgreatness.com/2020/10/08/one-step-closer-to-despotism/
Now one of John Brennan’s hand written memos has emerged that he briefed Obama about the Russia hoax in July of 2016. Obama greenlighted the Cross Fire Hurricane FBI investigation even though Brennan claims he warned Obama that is was the Clinton campaign that was attempting to create a disinformation campaign to dirty up Trump to DEFLECT FROM CLINTON’S E:MAIL crimes and legal jeopardy. Why did Obama greenlight the ant-Trump hoax? Because he himself was using Clinton’s e:mail server and faced embarrassing revelations. Perhaps criminal revelations.
So how did the media get ahold of a John Brennan memo? Chief suspect: John Brennan. Why? Brennan is warning the Resistance that he is not going to be a fall guy for the work that his superiors greenlighted.
Lawfare. They will not concede under any circumstances. Including a Trump landslide. There will be no peaceful transition into a second Trump term. Because the stakes are existential for a whole lot of Democrat lawyers.
It seems the challenge to us all on all sides will be finding some way to deal with what is coming between election day and January 20, 2021 ….. no matter who wins.
Stormy seas indeed. Ave Maria. Stella Maris. Pray for us. Renewal and Charity. We have a lot of hard loving to do in the months and perhaps years ahead.

Speaking of lawyers, I noticed long ago that almost every single high ranking Democrat office holder is a lawyer. While many, but grant it, not all, Republican office holders are something else. Businessmen, physicians and even actors are among top Republicans.
Not that I’m picking on lawyers. My son is a third year law school student at a public Ivy League university.

We live in one of the most “progressive” counties in America. Usually our county is smothered in Democrat yard signs. This year we are seeing virtually no Trump yard signs. But while there are Biden signs there are way fewer of these then I can ever remember. There is no real grassroots enthusiasm for Biden as we see in his non-rally rallies around my area. We have lots of “Shy” Trump voters. Maybe more than ever and it now seems that Biden must have a whole bunch of “Shy” voters too. Afraid to voice support for No Show Joe, or, embarrassed to admit they support a man with an obvious problem.

A rallying cry to all who hope for goodness and truth. The importance of taking a stand against the kingdom of darkness. And a focus on the most important thing….THERE IS ANOTHER KINGDOM!
” I am equally convinced that, in their heart of hearts, most people quietly and desperately hope there is God. Let us fight to win, but may our efforts be calculated not just to win the battle, but to win our opponents back to God, sparking new hope in them, even as we hearten and support each other.”
So encouraging, Thank you!

Scripture confirms what you believe Charlie.
“So, yielding to their passions (pleasures), and preferring unrighteousness, they refused to love the truth. And do not be mistaken that this refusal is rooted merely in ignorance. No, God has written His truth in the heart of every human person (Heb 10:16); His voice echoes in the conscience of every human person. God has also written His truth in the book of creation.”
St. Paul says elsewhere:
“What may be known about God is plain to all, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that such people are without excuse.”(Rom 1:19-20).

You’re right, Charlie. Not now or ever henceforth after seeing the massive human suffering over the last 7 months. My previous pro-death penalty rant here was in regard to naughty FBI people pulling political stunts. SteveBC and I went back & forth a few times and he made a compelling argument against. This is different. I would like to hear a rational argument against the historical teaching of the Church. Execution of the guilty in this case would end their evil now before they can commit even more grave mortal sin thus lessen their suffering in hell. Seems charitable to me. If the perpetrators of these irrational lockdowns and the suffering they have caused (To wit: the woman in the video x hundreds of thousands) are not deserving of execution then who-the-hell is?

The two instances of your death penalty rants are NOT essentially different. We all want justice and there are laws on the books and channels to get there, but when there’s even the slightest whiff of having it on our terms and timetable, then we’re already scaling the dung heap of pride. Read the Gospel. For my part, I’d be mad as hell all day, every day in these times if not for Jesus. He says, “this way,” and we ought to trust Him.
Also, “let ’em up easy” presupposes that they’ve been knocked down hard already. Not enough punishment meted out? Forgive 7 x 70 times. If they repent, we’ll rejoice with Him. If not, no amount of scripting justice scenarios could compare with what awaits them.
There are dangers all around in these times, but especially the ones swirling around in our heads.

“The two instances of your death penalty rants are NOT essentially different.”
-They are different. The first involved perpetrators of political shenanigans. This one involves direct infliction of profound human suffering.
“We all want justice and there are laws on the books and channels to get there, but when there’s even the slightest whiff of having it on our terms and timetable, then we’re already scaling the dung heap of pride.”
-All temporal punishment, including every capital sentence handed down and carried out was on a human term and timetable. Our Church has affirmed capital punishment. Has She scaled the dung heap of pride?
“He (Jesus) says, “this way,” and we ought to trust Him.”
-I too trust in Jesus. Everybody here does as far as I know. None of us has a monopoly in that area.
“Also, “let ’em up easy” presupposes that they’ve been knocked down hard already.”
-I presuppose they WILL be knocked down one day when honorable people prevail.
“If they repent, we’ll rejoice with Him. If not, no amount of scripting justice scenarios could compare with what awaits them.”
-So we are to just pray for them and wait for them to repent. Pray? Of course but some souls are so far gone and steeped in their mortal sin that God pulls the plug on grace making true contrition and repentance impossible. Fr. Ripperger goes into this in a presentation on either demons or the four last things. I don’t recall which at the moment. In any case, what about human agency that Charlie writes and speaks about so often? Have we no duty to ‘script’ justice scenarios?
“There are dangers all around in these times, but especially the ones swirling around in our heads.”
-I don’t pretend to know what swirls around in anybody else’s head.

A pro-death penalty stance for the FBI bad boys AND the people responsible for the suffering you saw in the video is essentially the same thing.
I get the visceral response, but ask you to consider if anger isn’t clouding your vision. And, no, I don’t pretend to know what’s swirling around peoples heads, unless they happen to be putting words to it and/or wearing it on their sleeve.
I know what the Church says at present. Also brings to mind what Moses prescribed for the people of his day because of the great depth of mud they were trying to rise from with great difficulty. Talk about harsh, but maybe that was needed in the time of severity.
We ought to be better, but do you think we’re any better in this time of mercy? Do you honestly think for one minute that God wouldn’t correct us on these matters if we were more teachable… more trusting? And we were given the Holy Spirit!
I’m really not for more kingdom building with fear-driven measures. I’m thinking about ushering in the time of the Holy Spirit, and what that really looks like.

I don’t like the death penalty because it might take away an opportunity for redemption, and also–what if there is a mistake and the person was really not guilty? If there is no way to protect society from a dangerous person, the death penalty would be necessary, but that is not the case now. Also, I would think that if incarceration is unpleasant enough, a life sentence might be worse than the death penalty–no privledges, etc.

And it should also go without saying that the Gospel tells us what that looks like all the way to the Cross and beyond.

If some of our worst fears are realized, we are not going to have the time/luxury of debating the finer points of Capital Punishment … or much else.
I don’t buy into The Lefty canards of Ya can’t be Pro-Life (anti-abortion) and pro-death penalty. That’s Apples & Oranges …. the most innocent of life vs. the most evil of humanity.
Nor do I buy the 7×70 or Turn the Other Cheek arguments when it comes to violent killers, rapists, child molesters & career criminals…. or traitorous scum whose actions have caused grievous harm to our Nation and/or fellow Citizens.
I remember my old Marine shooting Buddy who told me a very sad truth:
“During war we kill far better people than we let out of our prisons every day!”
The Rabid Left has already demonstrated their mindset. Under the cover of China Plague Hysteria, they have released killers, rapists and child molesters ’cause they didn’t want the poor darlings to get sick. It didn’t take long for sad stories to emerge …… not in the likes of ABCNNBCBS-NPR ……. that the “darlings” were back to their evil ways.
You can bet the farm that if CWII escalates, Blue States (Red Urban Areas) will see mass release of criminals …. just like they did in the French Revolution and other upheavals where Dark Side operators were happy to use the “skills” of criminals for their cause.
I PRAY that our worst fears will not be realized but I’d guess that at least a few of US here may well have to make some…. “In the Gravest Extreme” … hard decisions with no time for finer points or debates. ;-(

I trust the reality that in every walk of life whether victim or perpetrator, God gives us a chance to repent up to the moment of death. While here we need to strive towards perfection as it is understood in this moment knowing that it can never be reached on this side of the veil but strive we must anyway.
Punishment is an act of mercy in and of itself. One saint said “think of your end and you will never sin”. Capital punishment may end a life but it may then look towards God when all earthly hope has failed.

It very well may have been justice in the day to stone that woman to death, but not a one could carry it out without directly contradicting the law of Moses (i.e. – they really didn’t understand the Spirit of the Law but Justice, Himself, prevailed nonetheless).

Apparently, President Trump has signed an executive order protecting born alive infants in a hospital. Here’s an article describing the good news – it will save many babies lives. SIAP, (sorry if already posted), but let’s hear some happy news again;

From Spirit Daily: https://veilofveronica.blog/2020/10/13/as-we-head-towards-the-election/
…”And then I felt called to meditate on His passion. It was like a fire that was lit inside me. And to further the fire, imagine my surprise, when I found the Gospel for election day had the first verse from Matthew as the Gospel Acclamation. Come to me….
I knew what I had to do. Meditate on the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ in these days leading up to the election. ”

I read veil of veronica blog yesterday and started the prayer of reparation last night. I physically can not do hourly but intend to pray 3 separate hours each day thru to 24hours of Christ’s Passion. The first two hours have already brought me to tears – as it should.

FTSOHSP, TY for re-posting this here. How beautiful and hope-filled. Regardless of what happens, this is sorely needed. I’ve personally been begging God for healing, Hah. See this Luisa Piccareta quote from VV blog:
October 21, 1921 Volume 13
I was thinking about the Passion of my sweet Jesus, and upon coming, He told me: “My daughter, every time the soul thinks about my Passion, remembers what I suffered, or compassionates Me, she renews the application of my pains within herself. My blood rises to inundate her, and my wounds place her on the path to heal her if she is wounded, to embellish her if she is healthy – and all my merits enrich her. The traffic she produces is amazing – it is as if she placed everything I did and suffered on a counter, earning twice as much. In fact, everything I did and suffered is in continuous act of giving itself to man, just as the sun is in the continuous act of giving light and heat to the earth. My work is not subject to exhaustion; if the soul just wants it so, and as many times as she wants it, she receives the fruit of my Life. So, if she remembers my Passion twenty, a hundred, a thousand times, so many more times will she enjoy its effects. But how few are those who make a treasure of it! With all the good of my Passion, one can see souls who are weak, blind, deaf, mute, crippled – living cadavers, such as to be disgusting. This because my Passion put into oblivion.

FTSOHSP, sorry for the multiple replies. I couldn’t resist.
I’m not shy about speaking of the horrible, senseless, hidden from us (so seemingly sudden) loss my family suffered almost three years ago—–on Nov. 3rd. On that day, our beloved 18 y.o. son died by suicide. Anyways, my point. As I’ve said, begging God for massive healing for us all is part of my dna now. So I see a path forward above. Then I get the standard EWTN emails and THIS is today’s message. Haha! I hear you, Lord! TY Lord! 😀
“In Heaven, I will know the reason behind every pain and heartache during my earthly sojourn, and I will exclaim, ‘How great Thou art-to give so much for so little!'”

There are days I don’t even WANT to believe what’s going on out there, I don’t even know how I even manage to sleep at night knowing the things that I do, but it’s there in plain sight, I can’t deny it out of existence.
It’s driving me nuts seeing people pretend nothing is happening and life will return to their definition of normal anytime…
I made a iceberg comment a while ago, and I’m lost as to whether we’re above or below the water on it…

Here is more from Mother Angelica
My favorite is the last sentence= which says to me the power of the rosary.
Her health has declined over the year, but she wanted to remain alive as long as possible, she said.
She once told her fellow nuns, “We don’t understand the awesomeness of living even one more day… I told my sisters the other day, ‘When I get really bad give me all the medicine I can take, all the tubes you can stuff down me.’
‘Why’d you want that?’
‘I want to live.’
‘Why?’
“Because I will have suffered one more day for the love of God… I will exercise you in virtue. But most of all I will know God better. You cannot measure the value of one new thought about God in your own life.'”

Off topic, but my wife and I are heading to West Tennessee tonight along with our son and his fiancé. Our daughter is getting married on Saturday near her place, which is midway between Nashville and Memphis. Say a prayer for Theresa and Ryan as they kick off their married life. Pray for our safe trip and return early next week. Thank you guys. I love and appreciate you all my brothers and sisters.

For your information. If you want to know what is happening behind the scenes and why, your best source for a quick and dirty look, is to get a copy of the last James Bond movie, Spectre, which is an acronym for Special Executive for Counter Intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge, and Extortion. You will not find a problem with bribery or kickbacks when dealing with small businesses, but when you start to market to the larger firms, this becomes a big problem. The black market in fortune 500 merchandise, taken from airport thefts, truck heists, and the like, is immense. It spawns an underworld quite different from gambling, prostitution, and drugs. You do not hear about it. Only consider this, in the third and last of the Godfather movie series, Michael Corleone finds to his amazement, that when he gets into legitimate business that it becomes more corrupt and violent than the mafia world that he knew so well. Well it is just a movie you say. Great, tell Michael that. What I want you to realize is that we are approaching a moment when all law and order will break down because these people behind all of this can not keep the fraud going, because of a situation that will be similar to what happened in the Godfather III movie. They are ruled by the lust for power, not by love for their fellow man, so they will turn and savage anyone or thing that stands in their way. As Solomon put it so bluntly, the city of the wicked will end in a flaming heap.

A situation like what? The death/murder of prelates? Death/murder of a high powered public personality/business person?
I confess I am not nuanced in the Godfather series.

Great points! Just a couple related thoughts…
In my experience the people who talk the most about “believing science” are those who know the least about science, and are the least capable of critically examining a scientific report or study. What they really mean is they believe what CNN tells them is “the science” regarding a topic (as if that’s really a thing).
Sometimes people who follow private revelations complain that Heaven’s messengers keep saying the same things over and over. Well, we as a society keep making the same stupid mistakes and falling for the same stupid ideologies over and over, with the thinnest veneers to make them seem different. Frustrating. It’s a true test of trust in God when you see the same disastrous political freight train barreling down on us, try to tell people and they just won’t listen…
The First Things article is excellent. The desire of the Left to easily separate people into “good and evil” is so dangerous but people won’t see it. That’s why I really dislike the constant talk about racism that is today’s obsession. Does racism exist? Of course. But to me the Left’s goal is really not to eliminate racism, it’s to make it easier for them to separate people into “evil racists i.e. Trump voters” vs. “the good guys i.e. them of course”. It’s just an easier way to dehumanize and justify violence and it will get worse. It’s especially disappointing that this time the “intelligentsia” aren’t atheist materialists, but Christians and even Catholic prelates that claim this distorted ideology is actually what Christ wants. To me that makes it worse than the situation in Russia in the early 1900’s.
I do try to be sympathetic to angry Leftists because they will always be miserable. They put their hope in man and in government to solve all their problems, so they will always be disappointed. They don’t believe in a City of God, so are left with increasingly failing cities of man. They will become persecutors but will be miserable even in that role and will eventually become the victims of their own foolishness. Christians who live in God’s Will trust only in the City of God and will be happy even in persecution and martyrdom. Happier even than in comfort! At least that’s the person I pray to better become.
