Praying Hands with Beads
Praying Hands with Rosary Beads and Dove

On this page, readers are invited to send in their prayer requests. I will leave requests up for nine days. All readers are invited to pray for those who ask for it and any who want to offer a word of comfort are invited to do so, as well. May we work together to mutually build each other up and support each other in times of trial.

  4. Pope Francis – Prayer Intentions for March 2019

Recognition of the Right of Christian Communities

Let us pray that Christian communities, especially those who are persecuted, feel that they are close to Christ and have their rights respected.

It might be hard for us to believe, but there are more martyrs today than in the first centuries.
They are persecuted because they speak the truth and proclaim Jesus Christ to this society.
This happens particularly where religious freedom is not yet guaranteed.

However, it also happens in countries where, in theory and on paper, they protect freedom and human rights.

Let us pray that Christian communities, especially those who are persecuted, feel that they are close to Christ and have their rights respected.

  7. Please pray for my Son-in-law, Jerry. He has been fighting cancer for over three years now. It’s taking it’s toll on him. I must admit, we are afraid he may be loosing the battle. They have two little ones and my heart hurts thinking of them without their Daddy.

  8. Please pray for Cindy.

She is a McDonald’s employee as a drive-through cashier on the breakfast shift. Two months ago I noticed she became bald and learned she was undergoing cancer treatment. I saw her today and commented how nicely her hair was coming in. When I asked if she was doing well, she hesitated, so I asked “Hanging in there?” Then she said “50-50.” I told her I will pray for her and she happily said thank you.

    And I thank YOU!

        1. She sounds like a trooper, Patrick. If you wouldn’t mind, could you consider telling her that you’ve enlisted a bunch of your friends to pray for her, too? That might cheer her a bit.

          1. Great suggestion. After the blizzard here passes, I’ll go get a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit and do just that!

Because she is suffering so cheerfully, I bet she has a strong Christian faith to help sustain her. But knowing such a large group of people are praying for her should give her hope, whatever the outcome.

          2. I saw Cindy a couple of weeks ago and she was very touched to hear that many people were praying for her. She is in good spirits and I think she is doing well. It was a very good suggestion you gave to let her know about the love and support from our prayers, Mick.

              1. Hey, Mick. 2 BRUTAL weeks of school left….but I’m already making summer plans for a July/August road trip.

I have a cousin in Fort Wayne (a medical doctor), one in Cleveland (also a medical doctor, both women), there’s Fernanda in Cinci (out of the way but a necessary stop), and the Blunt Farm in Michigan. Already trying to coordinate days with Aunts Judy and Carol and their summer travel plans. I could catch you either going to WNY or heading back to Rapid, whenever that will be. It will be a slow, easy, relaxing sight-seeing drive in my old 95 Dakota with 220,000 miles on her. My trip may take 2 or 3+ weeks. I plan to visit Marian Shrines as I travel, too.

I’m looking forward to meeting you and your family….and I’m also very excited — almost anxious — to see my cousins and aunts and uncles because my immediate family is an estranged mess. I’ve essentially been out of touch with all of them since my dad’s passing 4 years ago. So I really need to touch base with people who love me….it’s just been way too long. Even having an Easter phone call was enough to rejuvenate me and make me yearn for home, which is more about people than a place.

                  1. Thanks, Jen. I feel like I have to preface all future plans with a “God Willing” because of the Chaos that always seems to be just around the corner. But it still is fun to hope. This will be my first vacation in about 3 years. Say, do you live along my flight path? IL?

                1. Prayers for your last two weeks of school, Patrick. Feel free to swing by the farm either on your way out to NY, or on your way back. We’ll be here either way. Just let me know the particulars as your travel time gets closer (just so’s we don’t schedule a day-trip to my brother’s or my dad’s or something, and thus end up missing you… which would be a tragedy). Really looking forward to meeting you and having you meet my crazy crew! 🙂

P.S. Our minivan has almost 250,000 miles on it. When my kid gets his drivers’ license this summer, that is going to be the vehicle with which he will commute to the local community college in the fall. He thinks that our 1984 Bronco is cooler, but it’s currently got some serious issues (Chris is going to be working on that this summer). But on the upside, my kid says that the minivan will be a “Catholic, homeschooled chick magnet” because it will show that he’s cool with the idea of driving a kid-capable vehicle. 🙂

  9. And now I’m feeling a bit sheepish about my very momentary lapse regarding Son-in-law Jerry’s cancer. The battle is far from lost. Yes, he is suffering terribly from yet another round of radiation but when I place his situation in my heart, I am confident that God has this and will allow Jerry more time with his family. No diagnosis or prognosis will convince me otherwise. He will have scans this week. Please pray that they are clear and that the doctors come to the understanding that Jerry is in God’s hands, not theirs. Thanks!

  10. Hi Everyone! Charlie, Beckita, Lylnnbyrd, Maggie, Patrick Daniel, Mick, Kristenreh, Audimarie2014, Stevebc, Maggie and oh sooooo many more of you…

I try not to ask too often, but need some BIG GUN prayers here….lol…

My mother in law, Mary… age 93 is in hospital 3 north currently with severe dehydration and increased confusion. Up until last night she lived on her own, watched ewtn all day long, prayed the rosary all day long and has great devotion to Baby Infant Jesus.

I doubt she ever committed a mortal sin. Imagine that! I asked her once, “Mary, I bet you never committed a mortal sin, did you?” She exclaimed, “Well no!!! Why would a do a thing like that!!!”

She’s never drank, smoked or for that matter even driven a car..lol…but her age is a calling her to that next level I think, and she is VERY VERY UPSET about leaving her home where she’s lived for 60 years now.

We were there until like 130 am, but after we left she pulled out her iv’s – TWICE – & is very unruly. I did call for a priest to give her last rites, so she may still live another 20 years, but if you would all say a little prayer for this dear soul.

Plz keep us all in ur prayers too. I almost ran a red light last night driving home and my poor michael still has to work foundry and machine. Very hard work for a middle-aged man with all this going on. He’s very tired on 4 hours sleep.

God bless you all very much and thank you all for your prayers!

    xoxo TNRS ASOH

On way back up to hospital now… yikes…she’s gonna be madder than a ….madder than a….oh…my mind is driving a blank…lol..someone fill in the sentence for me please….. 😉

  11. Oh Linda, I feel your pain. Change is sooo difficult for our dear old(er) family members. (Your description of Mary’s faith life reminds me of my dad.) We recently tried to buy my dad a new pair of shoes for his 95th birthday. He did not want to give up the ones he has been wearing for about the last fifteen years. The best I could do was to replace the shoe laces. I will pray for Mary and your whole family. I know how exhausting it can be.

  12. I am praying for a safe and blessed April/Lent/Easter/Divine Mercy Sunday for all! Please offer a prayer for a friend, Barb who just wrote:, “George, my husband, just fell through an air vent at a house he was working on. He can hardly move. Please pray for his speedy recovery. Thanks Barb”

Please pray for me too. Last Thursday, I broke my right elbow. The ligament tore away from the bone. It is splinted until I see the orthopedic specialist on Wednesday. Just when I thought I was out of the ailing woods. ;-P

I’m reading book by Raymond Arroyo on Mother Angelica. She suffered one medical blow after the next seemingly her whole life. Mother was more remarkable than I knew. She had spunk, grit and spirit and handled each setback with trust, love and determination.

I know that there is a reason for everything under the sun. Please pray that I will use this newest *cross* to serve God properly. Please pray too that this fracture will heal without surgical intervention, of course, if that is God’s will. Thank you all, sincerely!

    1. Oh Jen, so sorry to hear this news. Sending St. Stanislaus Kostka, patron of broken bones, to remain with you through this time of healing… Mother Angelica too. Jen, I’m convinced she loves your spirit and I ask that she intercede for new measures of trust, love and determination for you – in addition to all your petitions expressed here – as the Lord tends to your every need.

Prayers rising for George’s healing as well. Just the mental/emotional trauma from the way he was injured sounds excruciating.

      God bless you, Dear Jen.

    2. Oh, Jen, I’m stunned. I definitely will be praying for you. It seems so often these days that we get slowed down just when we think we can go rushing ahead. Maybe we all shouldn’t be trying so hard but let things start to come as they will. Then maybe God wouldn’t have to slow us down. 😦

In 1992 I was living in the Santa Rosa area, in a home with a wood-burning stove. I was out that evening and began feeling very ill (flu-like symptoms). I got home with a very high temp, feeling almost disoriented, not quite delirious. I lay down on the rug in front of the warm stove and asked God, “OK, what’s the lesson I need to learn here?” and *immediately* had a strong answer that I needed to rest, really rest. So I resolved then and there to spend the entire next day doing no work at all, just sit around, read, and rest. Within 10 minutes, my fever dropped 90% and I felt weak but almost completely fine. Unreal how fast I healed. The next day I made sure to rest all day and do no work at all. I felt fine that next day and thereafter. Maybe we’re not really paying attention to the need both to rest and to trust that God has this. I’ve been getting a *lot* of lessons recently not to push some things related to TNRS, even as I *know* events are finally accelerating.

So “Be Slow and Heal Quick!” Maybe we are all as ready as we need to be to enter the Storm’s core and should not be working hard but rather gathering our energy through rest and some fine-tuning.

  14. Pope Francis – April 2019 Prayer Intentions
Doctors and their Collaborators in War-Torn Areas

Let us pray for doctors and their humanitarian collaborators in war-torn areas, who risk their lives to save the lives of others.

    A project from: https://www.popesprayer.va/
    In collaboration with: https://www.vaticannews.va/en.html

I lit up when I heard Pope Francis speaking the words, *a sign of hope* in this month’s prayer intention video. However after becoming aware of the dark nature behind certain aspects of the Red Cross, infiltrations of the Vatican, and the more prevalent and less known reasons for war, this video left me feeling concerned.

I would love for other ASOH family members to share their thoughts. The Pope’s March Intentions video had little or no likes. How do we exclude our personal feelings about matters (Pope Francis/Vatican/Abuses) and keep our hearts, mind and prayers fixed upon the bigger picture/greater good? What do you find works for you? Our Lady’s ongoing Medjugorje messages are always a source of comfort and reassurance for me. The ASOH article posts and comments here daily and the reading recommendation as well.

Of course the Mass and the Blessed Sacrament are the source and summit ~ that should go without saying. 😉

            1. Yes, I have an avulsion fracture of the elbow. The tendon pulled away from the bone/joint and took some of the bone with it. I have an MRI of the elbow pending, ordered by my orthopedic doc, to assess the soft-tissue before making any treatment recommendations. For now, I am in a splint and a sling. My primary doc has ordered a DEXA (bone density x-ray) to confirm/rule out osteoporosis. In the meantime, I feel great and am adapting well physically. Not being able to work due to both recent injuries over the years is a heavy financial burden. By the grace of God, we are making ends meet.

My dear father, God rest his soul, lost his vision, use of both kidneys, his wife (our mother), his autonomic nervous system function (which controls balance), and parts of his foot/leg due to his diabetes bits and pieces at a time while his body deteriorated from his illness over the course of 16 years. I only add this bit of information, because of the great virtues his example reinforced in me and my siblings while he faced each new day with courage and strength. I was astounded at the resilience my sister, brother and I had in those years of our early adulthood, which seemed to come quite naturally.

When I read about euthanasia and those suffering and/or their loved ones who think that forced *death* is the answer, I am ever so grateful for having experienced first-hand many valuable lessons by my dad’s life and natural death.

              But I digress…

Modern medicine, imho, seems to be a lot like modern technology, more complicated and less reliable. Maybe it’s just me!!??

I tried finding Neal’s talks at the 2019 Encounter Ministries Conference. No luck. You could donate something at the Encounter Ministries website and get in to have a listen for a month. I ask God for a Catholic companion – male or female. Prayers of gratitude for bringing me to this place and a good Church but now what is it that God wants of me – so need prayers for wisdom. Living with my daughter is comfortable but not companionable. Pray for her conversion.

Please pray for my uncle Ted who died on Saturday. He was the last of the living/survicing siblings of my mother. Please also pray for my cousin Mary who has ovarian cancer. She has had a total hysterectomy and will not at this time of remission need chemo. Mary is the eldest daughter, first cousin of my dear late godmother, JoAnn who died of leukemia when Mary and I were barely teens. My godmother was a living saint. All her children, Mary, Loretta and Joseph have fallen away from the faith. Please pray for their return home.

UPDATE for my fractured right elbow: So far surgery is not necessary. I have a handy flexible brace to protect my arm/elbow, that allows for healing and I can use my arm while I wear it. It doesn’t get better than that on the prognosis/treatment front for now!

Thank you all, sincerely for your prayers. ❤

He was majestic and noble and his eyes were filled with compassion for me. For me! Can you believe it? Here the mob is crying for his head and he is looking at me with compassion. I could see he is a king.” Pilate shook his head briefly in confusion, then corrected himself. “No, he is not a king. He is the king.”

Please, if you will, please pray for my neighbor’s son, Kreg.

He’s 42… been on heroin forever or whatever drug they take these days..

he came over tonight looking so pale, so thin, so blotched expressing such sincere sorrow for our Mother’s loss…

he did some work for Mary some time back. He loved Mary for he could see she wasn’t the judging sort..she brought him cookies and lemmonade which he so greatly appreciated.

When he’s not strung out on drugs, kreg is most talented and always always kind.

    Kreg Loves kids & dogs.

I asked him once if he wants me to call an exorcist for him for he tells me there’s a demon with him in the basement that knocks things off walls. (I clean this house n it is scary there..lights flicker😲 )

These drugs, unfortunately come with demonic baggages. He told me, ” no, I have a love/hate thing with my demon.”

BUT today…today…after services for good Friday, he came out to our car in the rain.. there was that sad sad sorrowful pleading sort of look like, “Please…help me…I am trapped.” So if ya’ll can pray for Kreg id/he’d really appreciate it.

His eyes looked like what you describe, Charlie…just so sorrowful. So sad….thank you dearest dearest TNRS family..xoxo

Perhaps, take some home with you after Easter Mass and sprinkle it around his room next time you’re in the house, and make the sign of the cross on his pillow, etc. (I will be doing likewise in our home.)

  25. Son-in-law Jerry had scans today. The tumors are no worse and no better after another round of chemo. Good news, fluid around lungs is under control. We are taking the next step of asking for specific prayer for the shrinking of the tumors. Thank you all!

  26. Pope Francis May 2019 Prayer Intention –

The Church in Africa, Seed of Unity – The Pope Video – May 2019

The ethnic, linguistic, and tribal divisions in Africa can be overcome promoting unity in diversity.
I want to thank the religious sisters, priests, laity, and missionaries for their work to create dialogue and reconciliation among the various sectors of African society.

Let us pray this month that the Church in Africa, through the commitment of its members, may be the seed of unity among her peoples and a sign of hope for this continent. ❤

  27. Please pray for all those like me. Really struggling after seeing Unplanned. It’s been years since my choice and it is all coming back and it is incredibly hard.

    1. Jean, I’m praying for you and all who have had abortions. I am one of them too and also saw Unplanned. It did, indeed, bring back that awful time. Know that I am praying for you also. God bless you.

    2. Jean, I will add my prayers to all those here who are also praying for you. So many women (and the men also involved) need and will receive the graces to get through this. I don’t know how, but I know they will. God doesn’t want to leave anyone behind.

        1. Perhaps you already know about the ministry of Rachel’s Vineyard. I know many who have journeyed into great depths of healing through their work. May Our Lady enfold you in Her Mantle of Love.

  30. Dear Friends,

Requesting prayers for both my daughters: For Cate who is traveling home on Friday from Ireland from her junior semester abroad. May she travel in safety. And also for Grace who has an important follow-up medical appointment on Friday.

I humbly request prayers for myself as well – I had a dental procedure this morning and am experiencing some unexpected pain and tenderness. Praying for complete relief!

    Jesus, I Trust in You!

Thank you for your prayers – – especially for my daughters!

    1. Praying for your family, Noreen, especially your two granddaughters in their time of need. Perhaps you have already sought help from a local priest or knowledgeable, gifted lay person. Sending St. Maximilian Kolbe to intercede and guide all of you through the difficulties. Praying for you too, Noreen. This must surely be so hard.

      1. Both my son’s family and my daughter’s family are being destroyed by these 2 young girls and their behavior disorders. They have had a priest in to my daughter’s home and all homes have been blessed. It sure seems as though the powers of hell have gotten a hold of these children. My son in law also is in desperate need of conversion. He wants to leave the family as he cannot deal with this child anymore. This was a happy home with 2 parents who loved each other and their children. What happened? The siblings are being destroyed also. Please continue to pray and I pray for everyone here.

        1. Just taking a wild guess-some pre-teens experiement with ouija board participation at sleepovers; any abuse from a coach. Fr Ripperger suggests saying the Seven Sorrows rosary if one needs “hidden” knowledge revealed ; youtube has various recitations of it; and also one of the EWTN priests encourages parents to say the renewal of baptismal promises in their wayward children’s stead,(also on y.t.) Praying for the Holy Spirit to give wisdom to the parents.

          1. p.s. Forgot to mention, had a nephew years ago tested for food allergies, and after removing irritants (artificial dyes/dairy etc.), his extreme hyperactivity subsided. Just another avenue to consider or rule out.

  33. Please pray for a good friend’s adult son who had an awful bicycle accident leaving him with multiple rib fractures, broken wrist and a neck bone just above his past spinal fusion. He landed on his head, but fortunately survived and so far no obvious brain damage. His name is David. Pray for David’s mother too. She reads Charlie’s ASOH and the comments. Thank you all.
