All readers are invited to pray for those who ask for it and any who want to offer a word of comfort are invited to do so, as well. I have been inundated these last few weeks with calls and emails from people telling me how depressed or frightened they are. I understand. I get that way sometimes myself – but the way for me is twofold: when I am weary, I rest for a time. If you have a sprained ankle, you get off of it for a while that it may heal and not get worse. I think the same approach works best for a sprained spirit. Then when I feel strong enough, I get up and walk – and that drives depression and fear awway.

Hi Cheri-I can add a bit more now. I go up and down especially when I was younger with hormones. One thing that really helps me is to turn up Christian music and sing wholeheartedly, giving thanks and praise to God. For me it stopped the negative stinking thinking and singing released endorphins. Here is just one of the songs from MercyMe with lyrics. https://youtu.be/B6fA35Ved-Y

One of the most important and hardest lessons for me is that it is ok to reach out and ask for support and love. We probably all have a little of that fear (of reaching out). We maybe expect others to have an answer and just their presence is the answer. So thank you for responding. God is right there in the midst…. (I also reached out to relatives and acquaintances) and the Blessings are coming. Amen. I see the blessing that I am also…

My 94 year old Mom was brought to the hospital yesterday after a bout with diarrhea. We think it was because she ate too many cherries at once. However my 2 sisters couldn’t lift her and sitting in the bathroom so long her legs gave out. She is a devotee of the Rosary and St. Briget prayers and her life is praying for us all. She had a vision earlier this week where she saw my deceased Dad.
We hope she can receive the sacraments, that she doesn’t need to go to a nursing home and can return to her home (she is in her own home) and that she is surrounded with God’s love and peace. My sister who is her main caregiver is distraught. I’d like to see Mom, but don’t know if I’d be a hindrance or not. They are far from me. There are many complexities. Thank you all!

The latest word is the hospital won’t release her unless she has 24/7 care. So far she’s been able to manage in her own home with my siblings extreme help and an emergency button. She is practically crippled by osteoarthritis and spinal stenosis, but has been mobile.
So I’m guessing the hosp thinks she’s stable enough (This is good! And was our guess—too many cherries, LOL) but now my Sistas are scrambling to figure out ?which direction, and ?what are options. My Mom won’t be happy with any of the choices—she likes her privacy, ugh. It’s worriesome for us all. And I can only do very little except pray, which since I was first able as a small child I dedicated my prayers for everyone It feels like my hands are empty, ugh.

Mom is home but there is now much bureaucracy and some hostile peeps to navigate through to get her more care. I have gladly taken on this task. My Sistas are v. kind and saying it’s my forte. Haha, I have them fooled. I’m thrilled they think I can be useful. I can be tenacious and unrelenting if called for to get results and push forms through. Even so, a good outcome will only be possible with God’s help.

Had to deal with social workers for both parents also. They were in their own home but my sister lived with them. That made things easier to navigate the system. God was in charge, though, and my parents stayed in their home.
Littlelight, I see you have some very valuable hidden talents– “I can be tenacious and unrelenting if called for to get results…” I am discovering that life experiences, though seemingly mundane,
contain gifts that make one a tool in the hands of Our Lord and Our Lady. Interesting how you were given this mission at this particular time and you accepted it.
May a deluge of blessings come down on you and your family.

Hello dear squirrels. I have a couple of prayer requests. My sister’s and I went to our hometown on August 16-21. We rented a cabin at a resort we go to every summer. Last Thursday night we were out stargazing. A small plane came over the trees. It was obvious the plane had some type of engine trouble. We lost sight of it, then it came back around. The pilot was having difficulty keeping altitude. We knew he was going to crash. The plane was actually headed right for us. We were just about to run-didnt really know where to run to-do when he turned the plane a bit,it shot straight up into the sky, and nosedived into the lake. A group of trees was blocking our view of the lake, but we saw the nosedive and heard the impact. I will not soon forget the sound. The pilot died. Please pray for him, his family, my sister’s and me, and two teenage girls who also saw it happen. The plane crashed about 400 yards off the resort’s beach. I have an interview with the FFA tomorrow to report what I saw.. Please pray i have a clear mind. I am moving from the ” Did that really happen? ” to a gradual realization that it did, and the horror of what we saw and heard is sort of bubbling to the surface. Some of the wreckage was still in the beach when we left, awaiting the investigators. My sisters are experiencing the same effects of trauma. We really thought we were going to be hit. From what I have learned so far there is good reason to believe the pilot did his best to turn away so he wouldn’t hit land. And us, along with the several other cabins in that section.
My other request is for one of my former Priests just diagnosed with Covid. He’s in his 30’s, and is in excellent health, but is diabetic. He is quarantined at his parish Rectory.
Thank you for your prayers.

Dear Prayer Warriors,
(First, I am sorry if this was posted already. I thought I was signed in yesterday but did not see or missed this post).
Please pray for several family and close friends that are in some very bad medical issues.
We found out less than a week ago that my Step-Grand-Daughter, Ayanna, after making it through breast cancer at the age of 17 has apparently has suffered a return of cancer that is significantly worse. The Doctors believe they missed a lymph node during her breast cancer as the source of the following cancers; Lymph node, Pancreatic cancer, Lung cancer, Trachea cancer and Bone cancer. In addition from what my Daughter-in-Law tells me, there may be a few other areas as well. The doctors said she will survive between 3-6 months with no treatment, or up to 2 years with some type of various treatment plans yet to be developed.
Also, my God-daughter Coleen, has been diagnosed with Bulbar ALS. This type of rare ALS skips the lower extremities and jumps to the upper areas of the body which affect her speech, swallowing and eating capacity and eventually breathing. Her continued life would exist of needing breathing support as well as forced feeding and fulltime care. All the O’Neill families are not sure where this will go. The two young ladies mentioned above have not practiced their Catholic faith either, never, or for only short periods of time and please pray for their return to God.
My best friend’s mother, Gloria, and considered my second mother, went into the hospital 2 weeks ago for pneumonia and she will be arriving back home today for hospice care. Her husband, Fred, has been in a nursing home trying to get some strength in his legs back so he is not so prone to falling. Results so far are not sufficient without home care. They are both wonderful examples of what a Catholic mom and dad and Grandma and Grandpa should be as they passed on the faith and practiced it with their children and grandchildren.
Finally, my wife’s father seems to be in early stages of dementia and requires in house care.
As I am sure most of you know these types of conditions cause a lot of stress on the ill as well as families and close friends. So, if you could, please keep them in your prayers as well.
Any prayer support is greatly and humbly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Thanks Maggie. My large family, starting from my Mom and Dad, has expanded to around 85 souls.
This excludes close friends. It seems over the last couple of years the intensity of family deaths and or terminal conditions has just really hit us. Maybe God wants us to share more in His cross during these times.

All the prayer requests here are heart-breaking and touching. Please know I keep y’all in my prayers even if I am silent most times. I have a request, no one has to reply, I know my back is covered 😉 I also have an uplifting event, meaningful to me, to share.
So, it’s been 2 years 10 months, 21 days and 2 hours since we lost our beloved, beloved 18 year old son to suicide. But who’s counting? A few weeks ago we celebrated what would have been his 21st bday. We take the younger girls camping and hike some mountains. I was unprepared for how grief seems to be sharpening and how hollowed-out exhausted I feel in every area. I am so proud of myself, I got myself out for a long run today (didn’t give up on running this week, despite exhaustion, yay me!). I placed myself in God’s hands and begged Him for understanding of why this sudden surge of deep pain/exhaustion and can You please give me a LiamXOXO consolation? I’m not the sharpest knife in the draw, so don’t laugh. But we lost our 40 year old nephew to a (?suicide) drug overdose the week before our son’s bday. His funeral is coming up Sat 19th. It took prayer for me to figure out my sharpening of pain/exhaustion is a natural response to attending yet another senseless funeral. It took me prayer to realize I need to reach out to ask those who love me for prayers and extra understanding as I probably will not be performing at my optimum levels this week. Also, of course, prayers for our nephew, his infant son, his parents, his girl friend and all shattered by his sensless, tragic death.
Now onto the good stuff. I signed up for grief help from Gary Roe and David Kessler and get emails from them that oftentimes contain helpful advice. So today David’s video on grief talked about 6 elements in grief that can be stumbling blocks. One that made me laugh out loud in a good way was when he said it’s important for people in grief to celebrate wins. He gave an example of what a win might look like: taking a shower. David said: “Yeah you for taking a shower today!” He also talked about the importance of being the kindest to yourself. Yes, I thought! Taking a shower is still a win for me! So will be not.giving.up.on.running! (Thank you, David)
So onto Gary’s email. The title today (Ha, God has a sense of humor!) “Do you ever think grief is not getting easier?” (Thank you, Gary)
Well onto the second half of my answered prayer from God, my LiamXOXO consolation. Almost a year ago (? it’s kinda a blur?) my husband had a consoling dream of LiamXOXO where he was well and happier but not yet quite a “full-bright” but only a “three-quarters-bright” LiamXOXO knew my sign-on here “Littlelight” was based on Carol Ann Fisher’s “This Little light of mine” “Hug Me Jesus” CD. Her lyrics: “There’s a big black cloud in the sky, I don’t know why and the leaves have all fallen from the trees, there’s darkness everywhere, I don’t care, ’cause there isn’t any darkness in me! (onto famous refrain)” I played that a lot when my kids were little. I love it. So I come home from my run sync my phone to my fitbit and found out since I got it, I earned my “Shooting Star” badge. This means I climbed 20,000 lifetime floors–the same height as a shooting star. My 13 year old daughter told me I probably got a few of those since the watch has only been tracking me for over a year. My 17 year old and 9 year old said: “Yay! Mommy’s a Shooting Star! Your a shooting star Mommy!” I said, “Yeah!? how ’bout that!? I’m a shooting star!” It felt like a hug from God and my son. I’ll go with that today. Hey, maybe I can change my handle?! Hah. I’ll have to wait until I earn “star” status. 😀
Keep on keepin’ on, my squirrely friends. Thank you for your prayers. Be assured of mine.

Praying, Linda. Now here’s a story from a priest who had asked Mother Teresa to pray for his niece – we’ll call her Barbara – who was having difficulty conceiving. Mother advised Father to encourage close family and friends to wear/carry a Miraculous Medal and each day pray,”Blessed Mother, please bring Barbara a baby.” Sure enough, not long after friends and family began this practice, Barbara conceived. I was so delighted with this story that I initiated such a prayer effort for a guy in our choir and his wife. Again, not long after we were all praying in this way, this couple conceived.

Ha! I see a prayer request I wrote above — didn’t get that dream job in WY but got a very nifty one as a PRN nurse practitioner for a health care company with clinics all over SD. I go wherever needed for as a temporary fill-in if a provider gets sick or takes vacation..
Ok, start my first leg to Rapid City.
Please pray for my truck. The tire shop and then the tune-up mechanic were unable to remove my left rear tire. The risk of damaging the entire wheel by forcing off two of the lug nuts was too great. And a repair will costs several hundreds of dollars (very labor intensive). Plus she’s got some small assorted fluid leaks which is not unusual for a 25-year-old vehicle with 250,000 miles.
The problem I pray to avoid is getting a flat on that left rear. If something does puncture any tire however, the front left should hit it first. I’m still going to press ahead with this trip, though nagging logic is telling me to cut my losses turn around, and buy a new truck. And soon enough I will, but for now I will press on. The engine is running like a champ, and the drive has been smooth.
Thank you.
Please email to me any petitions you may have to take on this trip to visit Our Lady’s shrines.
“Grant me, O Lord,
a steady hand and watchful eye,
that no one shall be hurt as I pass by.
You gave life;
I pray no act of mine may take away or mar that gift of thine.
Shelter those, dear Lord, who bear my company,
from the evils of fire and all calamity.
Teach me to use my 1995 Dodge Dakota for others’ needs;
nor miss through love of undue speed
The beauty of the world;
that thus I may with joy and courtesy
go on my way.
St. Christopher, holy patron of travelers,
protect me and lead me safely to my destiny.
Amen.”

Hi prayer warriors,
I have an aunt, (who is also my Godmother), who really believes Trump will ruin us and posts angry posts on her own FB timeline when two of my cousins post their positions on how much they are for our president. She and another aunt get together with my mother a couple times a month, and I have noticed lately my mom questioning how some of her arguments could be right. I have told her to be careful to not get caught up in their persuasions and she says she keeps quiet when my aunt goes on her rants, but I worry about Mom. I know that she is faithful to Mary and the Rosary and daily Mass(albeit from home). I pray that Jesus and Mary will help to keep her on the right path, and that they help me to keep her there, too. Please say a little prayer for her, and that my aunts will see the light. Thank you. ~juls

Dear Prayer Warriors,
Please consider praying for the following request. I would be tremendously grateful for any prayers, and so happy if you could say a Hail Mary!
Background: My allergies are such that shortly before lockdown, I received the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick at a healing service.
This week, I have two dental appointments coming up and would like to request prayers, especially for the one on Wednesday at 1:00 pm Eastern time when I’m having major dental work done. (Please pray in advance, before the appointment begins if you can!)
Because back on Labor Day Weekend, I swallowed part of a crown and quickly realized it was causing a severe allergic reaction … to the point where I started changing clothes to get ready to go to the hospital and was debating between calling 911 or trying to drive myself. What I believe saved my life was that I said a Hail Mary, I think I was wearing a scapular, and also I was able to drink some Holy Water. After which, the crown “came back up” (to try to phrase it delicately) and then I immediately felt better and didn’t call 911 or go to the hospital, but I did call the dentist the next day as soon as the office opened.
So even though I’ve already had my life saved and have no right to ask for anything more, nor do I deserve anything more, I hope it’s all right to ask for prayers that my dental appointments will go safely, smoothly, and successfully.

Phoenix, it’s more than alright to ask for prayers; we’re family, and that’s what we’re here for. And because we’re family, you DO have a right to ask for prayers from us! 🙂
I will certainly say a Hail Mary for you, and I will also remember you when I pray the Chaplet in a few minutes. Please let us know how you’re doing after your appointment, OK?
