Nov 19 approx 8:30 pm ET: I apologize to everyone. I have attempted a change in the site address and have created a problem. Please read as you wish, but accounts on WordPress.com may not work, comments may not register. I am seeking answers as fast as I can. SteveBC Edit #1 later in this […]
Read More Issues with web addressesBy Charlie Johnston I am in Alabama right now, to spend Thanksgiving with family. I’ve been quiet for the last week – mainly out of sheer exhaustion from several month’s intensive work. At this time last week I arrived in Baltimore for the annual Bishop’s Conference. I attended Michael Voris’ protest rally. It was on […]
Read More How Much Further Until We Hit Bottom?(I am in Baltimore right now. Regular readers know I have a somewhat ambivalent take on Michael Voris’ Church Militant. Voris is a brilliantly talented man who delves into troubling things in the Church better than anyone else out there – but I get annoyed at times because I think he sometimes lets his narrative […]
Read More The Ballad of the Ordinary Man, Part II RevisitedBy Charlie Johnston The iron rule of economics and of human behavior: What you reward you get more of and what you punish you get less of Conventional wisdom says that the election was a split decision – with Democrats picking up the House and Republicans adding to their majority in the Senate. Read More A Year of Judgment(Beckita is right that the last two weeks have been frantically busy for me. I start here by reprising the First Installment of the Ballad. The most under-reported current story in America is that, nationwide, Republicans are swamping Democrats in early voting. For over a year, the constant narrative in the establishment media and among Democrats is about unprecedented Democrat enthusiasm […]
Read More Weighty Choices at HandBy Charlie Johnston I am not in Denver right now…haven’t been for over a month. I am working on a pro-life project…continuing to hoe the garden, as it were, as best I can for as long as I can. In the last week, I met with one very faithful traditionalist Catholic who nervously informed me […]
Read More Keep Your Eyes on JesusBy Charlie Johnston I know a little something about extended hikes, having walked 3,200 miles across much of the country in 2011 and 2012. Some things about this massive caravan coming through Mexico in an effort to invade the US strike me as strange. First off, they seem to be averaging almost 100 miles a […]
Read More Getting Un-Stuck From Stupid – Short TakesI was deeply moved by the letter of this young Italian girl, Sara Mansardo, to the Bishops on the occasion of the Synod on Youth. It was highlighted in the Moynihan Letters. It speaks of the hunger of young people – of all people – for the meat of sound doctrine, the doctrine that gives […]
