Crossville, Tennessee – You’re going to want to bookmark these articles and save a copy so that, a year or three down the line, you can mock me for how wrong I got everything OR look back in wonder trying to figure out how I figured it out. I’m going to give you both a threat assessment AND a preview of where the shifting geo-political situation is going to take us. Decades ago, when I was doing talk radio in the Chicago area, the majority leader in the Illinois House told me they brought tapes of a lot of my stuff down to Springfield, the Capitol. When I asked him why, he said that I was an excellent prognosticator, but still within the upper range of normal on everyday things. BUT, he added, when I said something so out there that nobody had even thought it or seemed absolutely absurd, you could take it to the bank that it would happen.
As you have undoubtedly noticed, I begin very cockily today. It is intentional. I’m going to go way out on a limb. I don’t care about mockery or disbelief. When it all happens largely as I say it will (I figure 80% or better) it will give you further confidence when I tell you that this is NOT the end, confidence you are going to need as we go along these next few years.
People tend to treat the words, “Intelligent” and “Wise” as if they are synonymous. They are not. Intelligence, like strength or beauty, is simply a tool – a gift from God. It can be used to serve good purposes or evil, to serve God or self. Wisdom is the sense to seek the good – which, it turns out, is God. A wise man uses whatever intelligence he has to do the good he can within the limits he has and within what reality will allow. A man with no wisdom, but lots of intelligence is among the most dangerous idiots among us. This fool uses his intelligence to convince himself that his fantasies and wishes are reality. He can deceive a lot of good, honorable people with his schtick, but the first person he always deceives is himself.
All the gifts God gives us are also the first tools the devil uses to try to seduce us. A foolish man is easily seduced into believing he is author of the gifts given him and so, is a superior species of being. This is the beginning of his downfall – and of that of those who attach themselves to him. If it is not the most elegant seduction of the satan, it is by far the most common and profitable.
I know people often view whatever I say, whatever disclaimers I give, as some sort of prophecy. That is not the case. Certainly, everything I say is informed by all of my experiences, including the mystical. But the way the Lord has worked with me is to give me great volumes of information while insisting that I do great volumes of home study – and then insist that I figure it out, not according to conventional wisdom (which usually isn’t), but by seeing things for what they are in themselves, then extrapolating from there based on first principles and according to actual human behavior. Whether it broadly proves true and points to practical ways for progress and gain determines whether it is wisdom or foolishness.
Intelligent people who, with great self-absorption, work diligently to prop up fanciful absurdities of their own devising, in order to demonstrate that they are a superior species of being, are constantly chasing up blind alleys and box canyons. The only way out is the way they came in. But that would require they admit they were mistaken – and would jeopardize their sense of superiority. So, they waste time trying to justify even their obvious errors in a vain attempt to prop up their supercilious conceit. For all their thunder and empty show, they are barren – empty vessels – until they embrace humility. It is vanity that leads one to make the unforgivable sin – and it is unforgivable because a man’s vanity has made him incapable of recognizing the sin in it, and so, oblivious to the need for forgiveness. The wise man will make his share of errors, but will keep what is good, abandon what is error, and take responsibility for those errors in his unyielding, but stumbling, pursuit of what is true, what is beautiful, and what avails. If he is faithful until the end, he will bear great fruit that will last.
Much of what I say in these pieces differs radically from conventional wisdom. That’s okay. I have been crawling out on limbs all my life and, so far, it has worked out fine (if often uncomfortable) for me. In a few delightful cases, I have managed to change conventional wisdom on a subject. That is a delight, but carries with it the sorrow of seeing it quickly bowdlerized with new and improved nonsense from conventional thinkers. But it does position me and those around me to advance and start contemplating the next right step, instead of remaining trapped in the previous blind alley – knowing that each new step must be as hardly won as the last. So, whether what I have to say is wisdom or not will be revealed by God in His good time – and is dependent on how faithful I am in seeking His wisdom, which is the only real wisdom, rather than my own pale imitation. So here goes.
Russia, Ukraine, and Europe
This is a distinctly minority position, but the rabid hatred of Russia and Vladimir Putin makes no sense at all to me. Even serious commenters I have great respect for seem to assume it is a given that Putin wants to reconstitute the old Soviet Union with territorial conquests. Putin, once riffing off an old gem from Winston Churchill, said, “Any Russian who does not regret the break-up of the Soviet Union has no heart. Any Russian who wants to reconstitute it has no brain.” To me, that clearly suggested that Putin wants Russia to be a great nation, but without the pathologies and internal contradictions that were inherent to the old Soviet Union.
If Putin is an overheated territorial expansionist, he sure has little to show for it after a quarter century atop the Russian government. The only two countries he has invaded are Georgia and Ukraine. In Georgia, he only took the south portion of the country, the portion that was riddled with Islamic Jihadists who used that part of the country to launch attacks against Russia. In Ukraine, he has only targeted territory that has been consistently and historically Russian; mainly Crimea and the Donbass. Three times after the Ukrainian War began, Putin was ready to sign an agreement that would repatriate that territory while leaving historical Ukraine unmolested further. All three times it was the west, primarily through Boris Johnson and Joe Biden, that torpedoed those deals.
A very strong case can be made that, in Ukraine, Russia was working to repatriate Russian territory, using the threat of broader action as leverage to gain the repatriation. Since 2014, after the U.S. spent $5 billion to overthrow the Russia-friendly Ukrainian government and replace it with a U.S. aligned government, it has been official Ukrainian policy to discriminate against and harass, often violently, citizens in Russian-majority territory, including the burning alive of dissidents who favored Russians. The Azov Brigade, an explicitly neo-Nazi division of the Ukrainian military, was tasked with keeping citizens in line in Russian-majority territory of Ukraine. The citizens in the eastern territories of Ukraine, the historically Russian territories, have not been allowed to vote in Ukrainian elections since 2014. If, say, part of California was taken by Mexico through some anomalous administrative filigree – and then Mexico took to oppressing and persecuting the former Americans, I would hope we would have a chief executive who would defend them, working to repatriate the territory and threatening to invade Mexico proper to give us leverage in our legitimate territorial claims.
Ukrainians have reasonable cause for their hatred of Russia. Josef Stalin forced the starvation of over 6 million Ukrainians during the Holodomor. That is not the sort of offense you can easily just “walk off.” Yet it is not an effective (or appropriate) response to mount a milder version of persecution against Russians who had nothing to do with the original offense. And it is not even a sane act to voluntarily commit over ¾ of a million of your own people to death in a meat grinder that you insist on pursuing, despite the futility of it.
The point is that the caricature of a snarling Putin, madly plotting to take over the world does not hold up under any, much less serious, scrutiny. That is not to say that Putin does not have some wolfish characteristics. Hardly a surprise, given that Russian politics have been run by wolfish characters for almost a thousand years. A gentle fawn – or even a raging bull – would be eaten in a day. What is notable is that Putin is the most patient, restrained wolf ever to thrive and survive leading Russia. We should make the best of that.
There are, undoubtedly, officials in the Kremlin who, if they took power, WOULD try to replicate the purely territorial greatness of the old Soviet Union. Putin, I believe, is much smarter than that. He understands how vastly destabilizing to a nation it is to hold unwilling regions and satellite states in captivity. It fosters stubborn resentment and is a constant flashpoint for unrest. It is not territory which makes a nation great, but a common culture and resolve. That is a lesson that Ukraine is learning, to its sorrow, right now.
I am a believer in the right of self-determination for nations and regions which have such a common culture, language, and/or religion. Ukraine has all three. At least historical Ukraine does. Much of what Ukraine claims to the east is historically Russian territory, with Russian culture, language, and religion. While understandable, given past Russian oppression, it is Ukraine that has opted to deny self-determination to these historical Russian territories. And, in fact, has chosen to subjugate them.
Most commenters of stature have ceased arguing that we must fight for Ukraine in order to support democracy. It is hard to argue you are fighting for democracy by supporting a nation whose president has cancelled all elections, dissident media, political parties, and shuttered dissident Churches. The boogeyman of Russia aggressively taking territory throughout western Europe could very well become a reality if short-sighted fantasists posing as geopolitical geniuses succeed in their quest of overthrowing Putin. If you depose the most patient, restrained wolf leader in the history of the country, what are the odds you are going to get a replacement leader who is even more restrained and patient? The end that observers say they seek (a peaceful, stable Europe) is undermined by the means they support – toppling the most benign Russian leader in memory (though, admittedly, that is a low hurdle to clear).
While NATO was tacitly understood to defend Europe from Russian aggression when it was established in 1949, the charter overtly committed that, “They (member nations) are determined to safeguard the freedom, common heritage and civilisation of their peoples, founded on the principles of democracy, individual liberty and the rule of law.” Vice-President J.D. Vance was dead on when he told the Munich Security Conference that the biggest threat to NATO is the abandonment of those principles by the European Union and many of its larger nation states, notably Great Britain, Germany and France – all of which are attacking basic principles of individual liberty, the rule of law, and citizen sovereignty. How much longer an organization that is aggressively and flagrantly attacking the core principles it was established to defend can last is a defining question of this age.
The eruption between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump and Vice-Pres. Vance at the White House on February 28 sounded the death knell for NATO. For all the sound and fury, Ukraine has little strategic significance to the U.S. Signing the major minerals deal would have given it strategic significance and served as a profound security guarantee. But Zelenskyy insisted that, even with such a deal, he would accept no peace that did not return the Russian-majority territories, including Crimea, to Ukraine (pre-2014 borders). Even now, after he has agreed to a cease-fire for 30 days, he still insists there will be no peace unless Russia cedes all this territory back to Ukraine.
In the week following the White House blow-up, western European leaders almost unanimously pledged their undying fealty to Ukraine…but then realized that, for all their posturing, they no longer have the means – economic or military – to do much of anything other than cheer from the sidelines. The core principles underlying NATO are dead – at least in western Europe. Whether it will be via a leisurely unraveling or a sudden collapse, NATO is a dead man walking.
By necessity, if there is to be any stability in Europe, the U.S. will have to deal seriously with Russia. Most European nations are now geopolitically and internally unstable due to some three decades of irresponsible decisions and profligacy. This plays right into the sort of greatness that Putin actually seeks: to have a sphere of geopolitical influence and to serve as protector of independent nations within that sphere. Did you know that the first major national project that Putin mounted once he appeared on the national stage was to spearhead the effort to restore the name of St. Petersburg to the great city the Soviets had renamed Petrograd?
It is a wolfish Christianity, to be sure, but Putin has defended Christianity more boldly than any western nation the last 15 years, including the U.S. When ISIS was raging through the Middle East and Africa, killing Christians brutally, Russia was the only nation that mounted a serious defense. It is happening again right now as Christians are being persecuted, tortured and killed in Syria after al-Quaeda has taken over. Russia has been a mainstay in defending family life and traditional marriage, more so than any western nation. Its failings are its tolerance for abortion and the brutality of its internal politics.
Of course, any discussion of Russia from a spiritual standpoint must include the apparitions at Fatima in 1917. Our Lady asked the Church to consecrate Russia to her Immaculate Heart, warning that if we did not, the errors of Russia would spread throughout the world. Again, I am going to be brutally candid here. I think most interpretations of Our Lady’s message are painfully childish. We had a two, maybe a three-year window, to make that consecration. We did not. And so the errors of Russia spread, like a terrible virus, throughout the world. I am glad that Pope St. John Paul made the consecration in 1984. But I regard that consecration as a form of penance for not having done it when it could have prevented those errors from spreading. If Mama tells you to shut the stable doors or the horses will get out, mulishly ignoring her and then shutting them long after the horse have left the stable won’t magically bring them back.
Second, Our Lady did NOT warn us against Russia: she warned us against the ERRORS then percolating in Russia. Frankly, nearly the entire western world has been infected with those errors while, astonishingly, Russia seems to be in the middle stages of recovery from them. We have stubbornly deluded ourselves that Russia is the problem while gulping down the errors whole. As the cartoon character Pogo sadly lamented, “We have met the enemy and he is us.” Until we figure that out we will continue to slog through mud.
This is typical of how God delivers messages, in a way that our vanity and hubris can interpret to mean that we’re great and those other losers are the problem. If you view heavenly messages through a triumphalist lens you will get it wrong every single time.
As NATO fades from relevance, western Europe will have to deal with the Islamic invasion leaders have imposed upon their people. I will discuss parts of it in more depth in the next piece, but Jihadist Islam is soon to collapse in the Middle East, only to reconstitute itself in Europe. Already, Islam is tacitly governing some of the formerly greatest nations on that continent. The punitive restrictions feckless European leaders have imposed on their people will pale in comparison to the depredations Islam will impose when it takes formal control. Then there will be wars and rumors of wars.
In the end, America and Russia will jointly invade Europe – to liberate it, not to conquer it. Implausible as it sounds, Russia will become the protector of European and Central Asian liberty. In doing so, it will be, truly, a great nation.

Hi Beckita!!! 🥰 yes that’s what I can’t remember or find. A few pieces back Charlie posted a piece and referenced that he doesn’t usually see eye to eye (not his exact phase) with mark mallet but this piece he put up (?????) was worthy of discernment or something like that? I just can’t remember the piece Charlie referenced him in and I meant to skim over it basically out of curiosity but also because I trust Charlie’s opinion.

We listen to a local radio talk show host, Michael Berry, here in Houston. This morning one of his remarks was that truck/bus drivers are inciteful because they have a lot of time where they can just think. They aren’t distracted by TV, phones or the internet. They have time to just think. I think that’s part of your secret Charlie.

Charlie I’m so glad you’re in Tennessee. I am so grateful that God led my wife and I here back in December of 2020. We are in West Tennessee midway between country music and the blues. Right down the road from that rockabilly town of Jackson, which has an amazing Catholic Church, by the way. We belong to a tiny mission church, which has truly become our spiritual home. I think the small Catholic population in this area forces us to do more and grow closer together as a Christian community. Anywho, I was in Nashville this morning for a medical specialist and that was still a pretty good drive from Crossville. Watch out for the weather heading this way this weekend. Hope you visit oh this way some time.

I remember that also, Linda. Awesome again, Charlie. What you lay out is so logical; I always wonder why more people can’t see these things and how reasonable they are. Maybe part of it is not being the “godless left” as you call them. I truly believe in the discernment and wisdom the Holy Spirit gives us to see things rationally. May the timeline not be so slow as to allow some of us to be worn out before any improvement arrives. I know some people are “hanging on by their fingernails”. God bless and strengthen us all.

Annie, thank-you for asking…I’m back from my kidney biopsy and must wait a whole week (or more) for results. I’m really not sure why the biopsy was requested since the purpose stated to me is not in the PA’s notes.
I will have to wait for the results to see what they were looking for and what they found.

Proverbs 9:10- Fear of the Lord is the beginning of all Wisdom
How incredible that the Holy Spirit freely gives us this gift–first at our Baptism, and then whenever we desire more! How this gift is needed in our time, especially for discerning the “Next Right Step”. I greatly appreciated your words on the differences between intellectualism vs. knowledge. Not all of us are given the natural gift of high intelligence, but all Christians can be full of Wisdom. This is infinitely more worthwhile!
I received this gift in greater and greater abundance each time I adored Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament. I was able to determine the next right step in my life, especially during the season where I was fleeing evil. God is so generous in overflowing abundance when we call upon Him!

St. Petersburg was renamed after a public referendum in 1991, several years before Putin came to the fore.
St. Petersburg became Petrograd then Leningrad under the Soviets.

It was as an advisor on international affairs to Leningrad Mayor Anatoly Sobchak that Putin played a big role in the push to rename St. Petersburg. That brought him to the attention of national figures. (I did make a mistake – calling it Petrograd instead of Leningrad). He was put in charge of the Committee for External Relations and served in gov’t in St. Petersburg until 1996. In 1997 Russian President Boris Yeltsin appointed him deputy chief of staff, where he continued to rise to become Yeltsin’s handpicked successor. But the first big project that brought him to national attention was steering the campaign to get St. Petersburg returned to its original name.

Also, when Putin first became president in 2000, he made it a priority for Russia to get a proper national anthem. (It didn’t really have one for nearly a decade after the Soviet Union dissolved itself.) He decided to go back to the old Soviet melody — which most objective music appreciators agree is one of the world’s finest anthems — but put it to new words. A national competition was held to solicit submissions. The winner, which has been the official anthem since 2000, is a reverent tribute to the land itself and the people and their thousand-year-old cultural heritage (going back long, long, long before the 70-year aberration/abomination that was Soviet Communism). It even has a line about God.
Putin knows the power of music, of symbols, of history, and of religion. He wisely knew that the Russians — so cruelly broken and battered in the 1990s — needed a national hymn as he tried to lead Russia back to health and strength, which he — again, so wisely — knew, and knows, can only come with a return to its ages-old roots.
You can judge for yourself the power and beauty of the song:
One note: As a student of the Russian language (admittedly a novice), I would translate the “mudrost narodnaya” in the refrain not as “popular wisdom” but rather as “wisdom of the people.” Other than that, the English translation of the lyrics in this video is better than any others I’ve seen.

Well, it was Petrograd briefly, after the 1917 revolution. The atheist Bolsheviks wanted to rid the city of its Christian name, so they renamed it Petrograd or simply “Peter City.” Then after Lenin died in 1924, they renamed it again in honor of him.
Putin is a native son of Leningrad. His older brother, who was but a toddler at the time, died of hunger-caused diphtheria in the Siege of Leningrad in 1942, ten years before Vladimir Putin was born. An estimated 800,000 civilians of Leningrad died during the 900-day Nazi siege. Putin’s mother nearly died of hunger herself, and, having collapsed, was mistakenly thought dead. She was being carted away on a “dead wagon,” like so many others, when someone on the street saw her move or blink an eye and told the person hauling the wagon to stop.
Putin’s father, who was in the navy, was seriously wounded in the defense of Leningrad himself. As everyone here probably knows, 23 to 27 million Soviet citizens died in what we call WWII but which in Russia is known as the Great Patriotic War. Every Soviet family lost someone. Every year on May 9, Victory Day — which is a national holiday in Russia (this year is the 80th anniversary) — Putin marches in one of the many huge Victory Day parades, in which citizens carry photographs of their family members who served and died — what they call “the Immortal Regiment.” Putin marches in the Immortal Regiment carrying his father’s picture.
You begin to understand why Russians in general and Putin in particular hate Nazis so much, and find it intolerable to have a Nazi regime next door to their country.
Every Russian was affected by the war, but Leningrad… Leningrad was a horror beyond description.
So, for Putin, with his family history, to champion the return of his native Leningrad to its original Christian name…. well, it just says something about him and about present-day Russia, doesn’t it?

So sorry, my friends, I misinformed you about Petrograd. Petrograd was named such BEFORE the 1917 revolution. It was after WWI had started, with Russia fighting against Germany, and it was that German suffix “burg” (the German word for castle, and by extension, town or city) that was offensive, so they changed it to the Russian suffix “grad,” a version of “gorod,” which is the Russian word for city.

I can see it happening this way. The arguments I’ve heard for continuing this foolish proxy war against Russia are usually in the following categories: 1.) Not “supporting” Ukraine is something like appeasement of Hitler in the 1930’s. These people usually believe themselves history experts but think anyone they don’t like is Hitler and the whole of human history is 1933-1945 Europe. The lack of evidence that Putin wants to, or even could, invade and capture all of Europe is irrelevant to them. 2.) “Putin is a crazed and irrational dictator who is unpredictable.” Anyone with a shred of critical thinking should be able to understand that just because someone takes action they don’t like doesn’t make them irrational. This is the usual neocon propaganda for regime change projects, which has a success rate of about 0%. In almost all cases our new regimes are worse than the old. In this case if you oust Putin you most likely get a civil war with generals and oligarchs divvying up a collection of nukes. 3.) “Ukraine is a democracy defending themselves against a dictatorship.” Of course it’s false. Russia is a strong-state pseudo-democracy, Ukraine is an oligarchy/kleptocracy whose leadership was purchased by Obama in 2014 and has been pillaged by Biden since then, EU is a globalist bureaucracy run by France and Germany and UK is a trainwreck piloted by a delusional Labour government. I guess that makes Canada a junior version of EU and UK. 4.) We are “turning our backs on allies.” These allies are like the obnoxious little man who picks bar fights only because he has a bigger friend standing behind him. Enough of that. Zalensky wants the US to go to war with Russia to save his little kingdom, and Europe seems keen enough on self-destruction to agree. I’m glad to see Trump and Gabbard are purging neocons at fast rate, sending them packing to Europe. I suppose they have some tricks up their sleeve but I hope we can succeed in staying clear of the destruction they seem to want.

Charlie,I remember being in a hotel room in Milan, Italy watching the Ukraine revolution unfold and hearing reports against Russian enclaves being attacked in ensuing events.The Jihadist take over in the EU does not seem like a stretch to me. This is exactly how formerly Christian Lebanon was taken over in the 1980s. The EU policies enacted play right into the scenario you postulated. You are right on target with Russia supporting many Christian values which is one reason why I believe the left is full of vitriol against them. We will probaly need an alignment with Russia, not only to liberate a Jihadist EU, but to counter the CCP threat which could be much bigger. I imagine you have already pondered much on that. Hi all, I wonder whether anyone here follows JR Nyquist. He has a distinctly different view of Putin and of the meeting between President Trump and Zelenskyy. I am not advocating for his position, but I do think it is interesting.
I’m not sure where I come down on all this, but a couple things Nyquist says that ring true to me are that communists do not keep their promises. So, striking a deal with Putin may be questionable. He also discusses a Sino-Russian agreement that has been disclosed in the defector literature by various defectors (who he names but who I cannot remember) that would indicate a strong cooperation between Russia and China.
That would appear to have at least some credibility. There are I believe credible reports that China is supporting Russia’s actions in Ukraine. Also, it seems like the left in our country are on the side of China (recall Bidens claim that “they’re not bad guys”) while the right is siding with Putin and Russia. Both are communists (I do believe that Putin is still a communist or is at least heavily influenced by communists, given his background in the KGB and some of his other statements). That means that a vast majority of our country is siding with communists – half with China and half with Russia.
It seems like getting both parties in our country to be supportive of communists would be a pretty impressive feat, if it were intended and orchestrated by the Chinese and Russian communists.
I am also persuaded by Nyquist’s position that Putin believed he could win the Ukraine war in a matter of months and, if he had, while Biden was still in office, China would have moved on Taiwan. Nyquist has, I believe, written credibly on this. The fact that the Ukrainians have put up such a fight forestalled these other actions.
Charlie’s view that Putin can be trusted and is pretty much agreeable to peace and just wants his heavily Russian ancestral territory back, to liberate those folks from oppression, is also reasonable and is an attractive position. But, the nefarious nature of communism just gives me pause.
So, I want to be on the side of God, and I’m not sure who to side with in this whole Ukraine/Russia thing. Here is a link to Nyquist’s most recent blog post if anyone is interested. I, for one, would be interested in how others view this as well.

Thanks for your take on this. I do NOT structure agreements based on “trust.” That is for children. I structure agreements based on working to make sure things are in an entity’s interests to abide by.
Russia is authoritarian. It is not, however, communist. People use communist and authoritarian interchangeably. While all communist governments are authoritarian, not all authoritarian governments are communist.
China is communist. Yes, communists rarely keep agreements unless they have overwhelming incentives to. But in geo-politics, it has always been a fool’s game to base agreements on “trust.” Mature leaders have always structured them on interests. Unfortunately, we have had a lot of fools playing games in our leadership for a very long time, now.

Yes, I can see where a peace agreement would be in Russia’s best interests. That makes sense, at least right now.
Another question – It relates to the notion that Russia is not capable of taking Western Europe.
Nyquist has written on the fact (at least as asserted by the Russian military defectors and other sources) that the Russian military have always abided by the notion that a thermonuclear war is imminently survivable. It would cost millions of lives but that it could be survived. He says that the whole concept of such a war resulting in global extinction because of “nuclear winter” was introduced by the Russians, likely to dissuade the US from ever actually using nukes, but that the Russians don’t actually believe it.
Basically, he is saying that the Russians are prepared to use nukes, because they think it is survivable, but we are not. So, assuming for the moment that the Russians are prepared to use nukes, that means that they are capable of taking Western Europe – through the threat or actual use of nuclear weapons.
If that is true (and the Russians don’t believe in nuclear winter), then the Russians would appear to be a credible threat to Western Europe and could actually start a war with Europe in the hopes of winning such a war.
Any thoughts on that?

It is based on pure speculation that Russia so thinks, yet at every point where Russia had the chance to use nuclear weapons to get their way, they pulled back. Look, I think Nyquist has some interesting insights sometimes, but I don’t have great regard for his analytical conclusions as I think they are largely overheated doomsday speculation.

Putin said that Russia did the communist “experiment” and would not go down that road again. The NWO people forced the war with Russia to remove Putin eventually and the war is nothing more than this effort. He was made a bad guy because he refused this and has been the Trump scapegoat even though the Clinton’s were in bed with Russia before any of the Trump stuff was even a thought. This way all the shenanigans of the deep state with Russia and Ukraine before Trump was elected could be covered over by the projection of this criminal behavior onto Trump.

Whenever any Western media outlet suggests that Russian policymakers, be they Putin or others, have any serious intention to reconstitute the former USSR, I’m left wondering if they are wholly ignorant, deliberate deceptive, or perhaps both. Only about 1% of the Russian population actively wishes to rebuild the USSR in whole or in part, and these are viewed by officeholders to be a lunatic fringe, with no economic or political muscle, largely to be ignored. No doubt, there are many, many Russians who wax nostalgic for the days in which the Motherland was a mighty superpower, respected and feared by every nation around the world, but these same people are the first to confess that they do not actually want the USSR to return again. I learned this from listening to the Russian people themselves, speaking candidly about the situation in their country, (the Russian language is a hobby of mine).
The single best interpretive lens by which contemporary Russian policy can be understood is the lingering memory of World War II, or as the Russians call it, the “Great Patriotic War” (the “Великая Отечественная война.”) If Russia could be said to have a “national religion,” that is, a single sacred belief that unifies all the people, that “religion” would be World War II remembrance, much more than it would be Russian Orthodoxy. The Russian people are largely secular and few attend Divine Liturgy on Sunday, but nearly the entire population emerges each May 9 to remember their victory in World War II. Throngs of citizens parade through the streets all across the country carrying photographs of their deceased ancestors. About 27 million Russians died in those days, and it deeply scarred the national consciousness. It has never been forgotten. It’s what led Stalin to create the socialist puppet states of the Iron Curtain, and it still motivates Russian policy decisions today.
This is why Russia is so insistent that Ukraine (a name which itself means “the Borderland” in Russian) does not join NATO. If that were to be prevented, and if Russia were to regain its ethnically and historically Russian territories in East Ukraine –the Donbass and Crimea–there would be not be a single whiff of evidence that Russia wants to rebuild the USSR.
The question of the day is not whether Russia wants the USSR back, but rather whether Western media is ignorant, dishonest, or both?

Both Putin and Zelensky are similar figures with similar mentality. Poland has been invaded by Russia for centuries, yet our Ukrainian neighbors aligned with Hitler during WW II. Even few years after WW II Ukrainians were committing genocide on Polish citizens in the eastern parts of Poland, genocide mostly known as the Wolyn massacre but not only it was perpetrated in the Wolyn region (German Nazis’ cruelty paled in comparison to Ukrainian cruelty against mostly undefended women, children and elderly since men were fighting Germans. Enough to say, that it was not enough for Ukrainians to murder pregnant mothers, they would feel the need to rip the babies out of the wombs first while mothers were still alive. They would feel the need to chop babies, children, women and elderly inro pieces while they were alive. People were lucky if they were shot instead the head instead of being chopped alive. That kind of possessed cruelty!). It is estimated at least 100 000 Poles were butchered, with estimates going as high as 600 000 per one Ukrainian higher government official. I am not Putin’s troll, I view both Putin and Zelensky equally as dictators. Yet Ukraine is the only civilized nation in the Western world that still refuses to allow exhumation of victims of a genocide. And the leaders, perpetrators of this genocide have monuments in the Western Ukraine – Bandera’s monument in ex-Polish city of Lviv, also Suchewicz’s museum that was bombed by Russians is vowed by Ukrainians to be rebuilt. Every other flying flag in the Western Ukraine is not blue and yellow, but Bandera’s/Nazis red and black, seeen everywhere on the buildings, at the cementaries. Imagine having monuments of Hitler in Berlin or Munich nowadays…
I forgot the name of a Polish bishop that stated in early 2000s that Ukraine will be covered in blood unless they repent for the Wolyn genocide.

Finally, someone talks about Odessa and May 2nd. I was following everything in real time at that time. Sou h info has been covered, removed and/or hidden.
It was also when I made it a goal to find SOMETHING that would confirmed Putin was who western newspapers said he was, a cruel, evil dictator. I never found it… I spend hours listenings to Putin, reports, anything translated into English on YouTube about Russia and Putin. By the end I could tell when Putin bended the truth. There is a big difference listening to Putin compared to our politicians. When you listen to Putin, you feel respected, not dumbed down. I now just follow the news at a distance, confident that God is working in Russia and little by little bringing all nations to Him.
I can only pray in thanksgiving. Thank you Lord for your mercy.

Being a science fiction and fantasy reader from far too long ago to contemplate these days, I *love* the post’s artwork!
This is an excellent article. I very much agree on the take on Russia and NATO. I would add that Russia has had problems with the forerunners of Ukraine since 500AD, and reviewing that long history of duplicity and hatred can be very instructive, though I am not certain yet how much is truth and how much apocryphal. I have viewed Russia from Day 1 of this war as the inevitable winner as well as the white hat player. The West and Ukraine have covered themselves in ignominy here. And Russia has been bringing receipts to the UN since the war began, exposing the 40 or so bio-labs run by the US’s own feckless and evil groups since the 2000s. When that history comes out here in the US along with our government’s participation in the trafficking and money-laundering networks that call Ukraine their home base (soon, I hope), it will be truly shocking.
I’m dismayed to think that Islam will have such a hold in Europe and that we will have to go back there with Russia to rescue them (yet again). Third time lucky, I guess. However, the European countries have largely lost to the deep state. Hard to believe, but the western version of the deep state has its home and stronghold there in Europe and the Ukraine and has had for a long time.
I’m very much looking forward to the next two articles in this series, if only to see the artwork. 🙂

Scripture again reminds us evil is self defeating (Psalm 34) and we are seeing this happening now as those who have pursued evil are either abandoning it or going down in defeat and as Scripture says “he is finished”.
A dragon is a sign of evil but also of defeat. Every time a dragon is mentioned in the Bible it is followed up by its defeat. Both Genesis and the Apocalypse depict its defeat by Micheal, the “Woman” or her Son. In Job God Himself claims sovereignty over leviathan which is obviously a dragon or, more appropriately, the devil whose very nature is of one defeated. Another loss is in Tobit when Raphael ties up the demon after a chase. Jesus defeats the devils temptations in the desert and then again by His death on the cross.
Charlie has stated several times that he will not interfere while evil destroys itself. The picture of the dragons seems to depict this exact event- evil consuming itself.
