In Pharaoh’s Court

As the Wizard of Oz found out, once people have seen behind the curtains of your vapid machinations and how hollow your thundering pronouncements are, you can’t fool them with the same tricks anymore. The Wizard was wise enough to come clean. American Democrats in the gutter press and politics have just doubled down.

The last few weeks have reminded me of Moses and Aaron’s encounter with Pharaoh and his court magicians (Exodus 7). Following the Lord’s instruction to speak to Pharaoh in God’s name, Aaron threw down his staff and it became a serpent to prove that Moses’ demand came from God. Pharaoh summoned his magicians, who proceeded to conjure up a way to make their staffs become snakes. Aaron’s serpent promptly ate the magicians’ frauds. As soon as Moses and Aaron’s real thing devoured the magicians’ cheap fakes, Pharaoh should have realized that he was dealing with a power greater than any earthly sovereign here. But the Lord hardened his heart. (Let me note that I do not believe the Lord would ever harden a contrite and humble heart, but doing so with a heart given over to self-serving vainglory can be useful in demonstrating certain great truths.)

Then followed 10 great plagues upon Egypt, each foretold by Moses to Pharaoh. People often miss that, except for the fifth (destruction of livestock) and the 10th (death of the firstborn), the Jews suffered from the plagues as well. After each plague, Pharaoh promised to free the Jewish people if Moses would ask God to lift the plague – and after all but the 10th, Pharaoh immediately went back on his word as soon as the plague was lifted. His magicians were out of the game completely by the sixth plague, when they were the first to be covered with boils. By the eighth plague (locusts), all of Pharaohs advisors were begging him to let the Israelites go, for Egypt was already ruined. But Pharaoh was determined that there be no man or God before him. The ninth plague was three days of darkness (I note this for those who do not know the origin of the prophesy of this coming a second time.) The 10th plague was the death of the first-born through all of Egypt, except for the Israelites who painted the lintel of their doorway with the blood of a lamb. With the loss of his son, Pharaoh finally relented and let the Israelites go. Even then, though, his vainglory was so strong that he sent the entire Egyptian Army out to recapture the Israelites. Thus, the Israelites found themselves at the bank of the Red Sea with the Egyptian Army in hot pursuit of them. There was no escape, except for the Lord. Not faltering, Moses lifted his staff and the Lord of Hosts parted the waters of the Red Sea, so the Israelites could walk through the midst of the waters safely to the other shore. The Egyptian Army followed. When the last Jew had safely gained the other shore, the Lord let the waters come crashing back together, destroying the entire Egyptian Army.

In the classic movie, The Ten Commandments, after losing his entire army, Yul Brenner, as Pharaoh said ruefully, regarding Moses, “His God…is God.”

The debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden was analogous to the initial confrontation between Moses and Pharaoh. It was a confrontation between a contrived narrative and reality. All the left’s magicians in the press and politics were revealed for the cheap fakes they are. Yet they could not stop themselves from trying to control the narrative with the same old cheap fakes they have been using for the last decade and a half to bumfuzzle the public, even as they stood nakedly exposed.

Now come the plagues, the means by which God decisively showed who really was in command.

First, was the failed assassination attempt against Trump. It was clearly divine providence that he was spared, his head turning at the very instant the shot was fired so that only his ear was clipped rather than the back of his head being blown off. With what we know at this point, the Secret Service knew at least 19 minutes before the attempt came that there was an active threat to the former president – and neither neutralized the threat nor prevented Trump from taking the stage until they had. There are conflicting reports that the snipers were instructed not to take a shot at the threat unless he fired first. Seriously?! Now the protocol is that a potential assassin gets a free shot at his target before a protective detail does anything?! These are all absurdities.

From the time that the Biden administration refused to offer Secret Service protection to Robert Kennedy, Jr. I have wondered if these people are so mendacious that they wanted to encourage pot shots against rivals. Finding that the Biden administration has consistently refused requested resources to Trump, leaving him severely under-protected, diverted some of his meager resources that day at the last minute to cover Jill Biden, giving her (with a MUCH smaller threat profile) four times as many Secret Service agents as Trump; that feds have a recent history of provoking crowds (Jan.6, when they fired incendiaries into a crowd that had been entirely peaceful beforehand and the FBI’s manufactured kidnapping attempt against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer), one can only believe, at best, that the feds have intentionally left huge holes in the protection of rivals and, at worst, were complicit in the attack. I suppose you can’t discount such monumental incompetence that it beggars the imagination from the Biden administration, but a junior high school drill squad could have done a more capable job of this. If it was either malign neglect or active assistance, one can expect more from the increasingly desperate left.

A digression…I have always been leery about claims that God spared someone in a tragedy, particularly a tragedy that ended in death for another. God DOES protect people in certain circumstances, but not because he loves them more than those who were lost. We think in very short terms, those of this life – and often the only good we can imagine is this life. But we were born for eternity – and have several passages on our pilgrim journey to the fullness of our life. In the few days of my first Covid bout where there was a real question whether I would make it or not, I told my caregiver, Beckita, that if I would be more effective from the next world, God would take me and if He still had work for me here, He would leave me. Some Protestant denominations believe in the Calvinist principle of predestination – that God decides who will be saved and who will not from the moment of their conception. Catholics do NOT believe that God makes anyone for destruction. We believe that God calls all men to salvation, though many do not answer that call. Yet Catholic Doctrine does believe in a form of predestination – that some are predestined to accomplish particular tasks for God. Examples include the Virgin Mary, John the Baptist, St. Joan of Arc and many others. Predestination to good does happen, but God does not will the destruction of anyone. We can only destroy ourselves.

When Jesus walked the earth, He healed many – but He didn’t physically heal all. The purposes of the Almighty are obscure to us here, who can only see as through a glass, darkly. Every decision God makes is calibrated to recall more souls to Him. It is a mystery to us why God allowed Corey Comperatore to pass into eternity from the failed assassin’s bullet, but it is not a mystery to God – and He allowed it that more will find Him. But it appears (to me, at least) that God yet has work here for Trump.

Second is the bizarre withdrawal from the presidential race by Biden. There has been no proof of life from him since he went into isolation for Covid last week. This may become a proxy war between the Clintons and the Obamas for effective control of the Democratic Party. In a very real sense, it doesn’t matter who the Democratic candidate is – as all of them support the same destructive, anti-American policies. Rather, this may just be an internal fight over who calls the shots from the shadows. It may have been an effort to galvanize Democratic supporters by changing the narrative in the aftermath of the assassination attempt on Trump. It may be that Biden has suffered some sudden and massive health issue that precludes him from appearing in public – and the left is trying to control the narrative.

The problem for the media and the Democrats is that their mendacious and serial lies have been fully exposed for the manipulative narratives they are. Their greater problem is that that is all they have.

I used to advise candidates that good public relations is NOT making up any narrative you want; it is presenting your position with the greatest impact you can and in ways that are memorable and resonate with your audience. When you try to fool and manipulate your audience, eventually you will be found out – and everything you say will be suspect. Good public relations is the setting for the diamond of truth, as best you know it.

We will have a convulsive ride to November 5th – and perhaps an abortive one. Despite all the squees of the mindless, leftist fangirls, a lot of people have now seen – and are seeing on a daily basis – what is behind the curtain. Mark Twain once said that, “It is easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled.” That is true, but woe to the liars when they are found out. The wrath of the deceived when their eyes are opened is furious and unquenchable.

After the Israelites passed through the Red Sea, despite having watched a veritable cornucopia of miracles, they still were regularly stiff-necked and hard-hearted – ready to abandon the God who saved them at almost any sign of hardship. So much for all the people who say they would believe if God would just show Himself plainly.

Faith is an act of the will. Trust is an act of the will. Decide whom you will serve – God or Mammon (the things of this world). Do you not know that, whether or not a particular prophecy is fulfilled in the literal way so many are expecting, we are living through a profound Illumination of Conscience? Serve the Lord with your whole heart, trusting that whatever God allows to befall you after that is either for your good or that of others. Then you can walk fearlessly even when terror oozes from your every pore. The discipline to carry you through all trials comes down to acknowledging God, taking the next right step, and being a sign of hope to those around you.

We have reached the point in the Storm where God is acting visibly now for those who have eyes to see, but subtly enough that committed scoffers can continue to scoff. We are in the fullness of the global civil war fought on cultural lines. May all of us who follow the Lord comport ourselves so that, after the fullness of this work is accomplished, the godless left will say, “Their God…is God.”

    Amen. Amen to the ongoing Illumination!! God visits His people NOW.  May Holy Spirit open our eyes to see and our hands to welcome what God IS doing NOW.

    So appreciate the clarity you provide in explicating the Scriptures and theology concepts. I still maintain that the BEST EVER compendium on human suffering – from a Catholic perspective – was written by Fr. Robert Spitzer. It is filled with comfort for those who suffer. So much of what you have written here about God’s View, which encompasses material so far beyond and above that of any one of us, is addressed by Fr. Spitzer.

    And since back in the days of TNRS, I have looked upon this Storm as our contemporary Exodus, so I love your comparisons between the original and our own Exodus. With joy amidst the fear that ripples at times, TNRS, ASOH and CORAC are paramount as we make our way to our contemporary promised land, the Era of Peace.

      Ahh, a euphemism. It finally penetrated. This Irishman (and most others) are prone to using an… ummm… more “earthy” (or duodenal) version. Let the reader interpret – sicut dicitur. 😎

      “Yul Brenner, as Pharaoh said ruefully, regarding Moses, “His God…is God.” Yeah, fiction – albeit a great movie. Yet, very possible. Although it’s also possible that Pharaoh employed a more vigourous version of “holy shivers”. Well, you would, wouldn’t you, in the circumstances?

      One can’t help comparing the response of the Centurion beneath the Cross who confessed: “Indeed, this Man was the Son of God”. One response, Pharaoh’s (yeah, fiction – but probable) came from frustrated worldly power, the other from acknowledgement and acceptance of Truth, in humility.

      Anyway – be assured that Pres. Trump’s escape, and his truly inspirational response, have not gone unnoticed, or unwelcomed, over on this increasingly deranged side of the big pond as we struggle with our own “imposed” problems.

  2. It seems even those most resistant to seeing the truth are now waking up. I had a dream a few nights ago in which a family member finally recognized truth over lies and kicked the lies to the curb. St. Michael was there. It gives me great hope.

  3. What a comfort that in the midst of this great and terrible storm, that the Holy Spirit would inspire our Bishops to have the Eucharistic Congress last week. The Holy Spirit showed up in a huge way to heal and unify our wounded Church!

    1. I love that phrase…Holy shivers! I’m stealing it from you. It struck me just right. So if you get to a talk sometime, let me know that you are the Jeslyou I stole a new trademark phrase from. (When irritated, I often exclaim, “Bloody hell!” I picked it up in my 20’s at an English medieval-themed restaurant in the mountains. We were a bit late. The greeter called out to a waitress that there were two more for her – and she called out, “Bloody hell!” It cracked me up and, forty years later, I’m still using it. There was an informal club of young political operatives who had worked for me in Illinois – and they would verify each other by checking their knowledge of some of my, apparently, memorable trademark phrases. So you’ve just taught an old dog a new trick!)

        1. Jeslyou, the expression “holy shivers” was introduced to me by a friend of Irish descent who lives in Chicago. He was born in the USA and then lived in Ireland for about 10 years after he graduated from college. While Jaykay doesn’t recognize the expression, my friend picked it up from his Irish clan. That said, I went searching for the origin of the expression and can find nothing. Mystery.

          So there you have it, Charlie: It was I who used the expression, “holy shivers,” in my comment while jeslyou quoted my lines to affirm the comment. 🙂

After one talk I did, an Irish fellow came up to me and said I sounded like I had french-kissed the Blarney Stone. So I am stealing it wherever it comes from.   7. Great writing Charlie. I’m fresh form the National Eucharistic Congress and want to witness an experience I had on Thursday night during adoration. Normally you would find me sitting up front for any of the presentations. This night I chose to go to dinner with a newly arrived participant who was just learning the lay of the land. When we arrived at Lucas Oil Stadium, the revival session was starting and we had to go up to the 500 section seats. As we made our way around people in the row to our seats, it caused us to lean toward this barrier that kept us from falling many feet below. My stomach jumped a little, and I was much happier when we made it to our seats and sat down. After the speakers, the last being Fr Mike Schmitz, we started a time of adoration. My new friend had left for the hotel even before Fr Mike talked. I placed my foam kneeler in front of me and knelt down. Immediately “fear was coming out of every pore”, as Charlie would describe it. For me, heights like this is not a conscious fear. It’s something that has always been a completely physiological reaction. So there I was, the cement part of the barrier came to my upper thigh, and the glass came up to my chest. I was able to rest my arms on top of the glass edge. On a scale of 1 to 10, my fear level was 8.5-9.5. It was super uncomfortable. I first tried to move my kneeler 5 inches back. But my legs didn’t have any room, so I moved it forward again. I had people a few seats on either side so I didn’t want to disturb them, and I couldn’t climb over my chair to reach another row because of the size of the seats. I had no way out, and besides, I really wanted to stay and adore my savior. A few things went through my mind. 1. How is this going to work? 2. Closing my eyes was no improvement. 3. Eventually I had a memory how sometimes, God will lead you to a cliff and ask you to jump, taking a leap of faith even though you are scared. I said in my mind, “if this is a cliff like one you would ask me to jump, I would want to surrender to your request and jump”. I knew I had the desire to trust him, even if I wasn’t sure I was capable. But I did stay there rather than creating an escape route from the very uncomfortable situation. I hope you can get this picture. Section 400’s could not be seen at all. I could probably see the 300’s but they were a long ways down. The entire experience was 40 minutes. Somewhere around 15-20 minutes, the priest asked us to invite Jesus deeper into our hearts. With closed eyes, I made that request with all my heart. Immediately, I felt from the center of my heart/soul a small circular feeling of Jesus presence. It grew in a circle shape fashion melting all the panic that was happening inside me due to the height situation. The fear reaction coming from every pore was 100% gone. I was able to look all around, and down with no problem at all. It was so amazing!!🤩 When we left, I had no fear reaction on the super long/high escalators either. As I looked down, I asked myself if this might be a permanent change or just for tonight? I’ll keep you posted on that question. I perceived God was letting me know in a tangible way, that no matter the fear I experience, possibly when he sends me to do something for him, he wants me to TRUST that he can handle my fears. I’m am to go to him with all fears. I sure hope I can live this out as my life unfolds from now until I reach my end.

    Be encouraged friends. He will find you even in the nosebleed sections and melt your fears in about two seconds. 🥰

    I believe this is why Our Lady asked us for prayers recently. I think if Trump had been killed, that would have caused even more chaos around the world than former events were causing. It would be an interesting story to hear told what the world would have looked like. Same for if JPll would have died after his assassination attempt. I guess only God could tell that story!

Reports have it that Biden had a serious medical condition, the nearby hospital was put on standby and roads were being secured for transportation yet then there was a sudden decision to fly him east hastily to where he is supposedly now. Not seen in public for five days. Merely testing positive for covid would not trigger any of this. It is quite possible that Biden might be dead or close to dying and Kamala’s gang took advantage of the situation and twitted (xed) his resignation and endorsement. Biden’s staffers were shocked about his resignation and they learned from the X platform… Anyways, like Trump said, doesn’t matter which Democrat will run nowadays, they will push same sick destructive policies.

    Charlie, to that Twain’s quote about fooling people I would also add Abraham Lincoln’s quote: “You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all of the time”.

  12. I passed by Butler, PA on Friday on my way to Erie and as I saw the road signs, I remembered the rally. Talk about a sudden urge to pray! And though I think our prayer to the Lord Almighty effected Trump’s escape from death, I also have to think it was so many guardian angels, too! Trump’s angel guardian must be on overdrive right now. This is not the first time they have tried to kill him and probably won’t be the last. So, now, when I pray, I ask the Lord that my Angel Guardian may go to the people in the crowds and enlist them for extra strength for the President’s angel. I think Melania’s rosaries were helpful to him, too. Her response to Americans was so poignant and beautiful and I pray that God will strengthen their marriage and all their children so that their angels have the tools to guard and protect them from all the snares and dangers that the evil plotters may be defeated. It is a spiritual war so let us enlist the angels!!

    If Biden is indeed on death’s door, I pray that his family will repent and get him to the sacraments. It is a puzzle why his wife, Jill, jetted off to Paris but left Netanyahu without welcome or an official greeting. May their malignant machinations all be repented and forgiven and, if there is no repentance, may God have mercy on their souls.

    There’s no comparison between Pope JPII actually getting shot and Trump getting grazed on the ear with a bullet, it’s a exaggerated stretch at best.

    The deep state sure likes their drama & psychological manipulations to control the dialectic.  The past 4 years has been a next level September 11 event starting with Jan 6, the past 4 years was meant to push most Americans towards strong Trump support.  Like the American rage of Sept 11, after Trump becomes President again will be able to go after his opponents with the blessing of the majority of citizens, and like Sept 11 that precedence will be eventually be used to round up Christan citizens in a future crisis.

    You have not even considered the possibility that Trump could be a swamp creature of the the deep state.  Have you never taken any notice that Trump is checking off the criteria for a anarchist at a alarming rate?  The antichrist is supposed to have the appearance of the people’s hero in the beginning.

    Trump will win, because America has been psi-opted into that being the only acceptable choice.  If the Rothschild Khazarian Mafia actually wanted Trump dead, he’d be dead, as they are the ones controlling all events from the Bolshevik Revolution, Global government, banking system, fake news media, COVID, to the Ukraine war.

      Most of your postings explain why everything is terrible and there is no good in anyone. I say that reflexive cynicism is as mindlessly ignorant as reflexive credulity. But it does make it easier for you if you just convince yourself that everyone and everything, except yourself, is corrupt and evil. Although it does violence to Christ’s command to “judge righteous judgment.”

      You seem a reasonably intelligent fellow, Al. The satan is sometimes referred to as the accuser of mankind. So when you only see the potential for rot and corruption, whose eyes are you looking at the world through: God’s or the satan’s? There must be some ember of hope in you, for you still read this site, so part of you must long for things that are good and true.

Hi Charlie, I’m still looking for hope, but we’re just not there yet, it seems we have some more negative events to endure before things start getting better.  My negativity is rooted in my optimistic hopes being repetitively crushed over and over again over the years, people in survival mode tend to be negative.   Anyways, I had the decency to just message you on my take of events rather than post it on your forum.  Thanks for the reply and good luck in your efforts.             “Know them by their fruits” (Matt 7:16)

            There is a disconnect of morals running through the world. So many “conservatives” accept compromise with sin as to be liberal in their life walk. It is the lament of Jesus: “These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.” (Matt 15:18).

            Charlie is providing some clarity in the muddy waters of Life. As the “foundations” we are used to collapse, he filters through the dross and brings the sweet promise to the forefront. This is the promise of renewal but also of warning. God made this promise too.

            “And He who sat upon the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And, “Write this, for these words of mine are trustworthy and true. And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give water without price from the fountain of the water of life. He who conquers shall have this heritage, and I will be his God and he shall be my son. But for the cowardly, the faithless, the polluted, as for murderers, fornicators, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their lot shall be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (Rev 21:5-8).

  17. The Egyptions had multiple God’s- a god of the Nile, a god of frogs, of lice, flies, rain, the sun, the moon, even Pharaoh was considered a god!. Each of the plagues was used to show God was superior to each one of these “gods”. When God parted the Red Sea, he left it open just long enough to entice Pharaoh to cross over with his army and God drowned them (He hurled Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea. Psalms 136:15.) He did this not only to save Israel, but to show that even Pharaoh was not a greater “god” than Himself So, by his very death, pharaoh proclaims; ” Their God IS God!”
