From Darkness Into Light

My campsite in the forests below Mt. Meeker where I finished my pilgrimage with a Novena. This site is gone, wiped away by the massive flood of 2013, less than a year after I camped here.

By Charlie Johnston

I have not had power since Saturday. High winds knocked power out throughout big patches of the Denver area. I had a lot of work I wanted to finish over the weekend that had to be put on hold. I have a piece, What Is Truth?, that I will have to wait for tomorrow to publish.

Today, from Noon to 3 p.m. I spend on the grounds of St. Malo at the foot of Mt. Meeker in contemplation and prayer. I write this little notice from a Starbucks.

If you have a question for our series on preparation, please get it into seven7questions@gmail.com. We will do our final podcast on the subject in the next 10 days.

I am in the home stretch on the CORAC Organizational Handbook and Manual for Building Functional Communities in Difficult Times. It is pretty much down to formatting and edits for concision. Again, the booklet will be freely available in PDF from the CORAC website and will be available for sale in the hard copy. If you have not donated lately, it would be very timely to do so now, as I intend to give a wide distribution of complimentary copies to various compatible organizations and news sites.

Now, I’m off to Mt. Meeker. See you tomorrow (provided the power is back on by then).

Notice the squirrel on the rock in the foreground of this shot of the Chapel on the Rock at the foot of Mt. Meeker.

If communication goes out for any length of time, meet outside your local Church at 9 a.m. on Saturday mornings. Tell friends at Church now in case you can’t then. CORAC teams will be out looking for people to gather in and work with.

  1. Please don’t patronize Starbucks. They financially support abortion industries and LGBTQ causes.  Pam Percival Las Vegas, NV

    1. Pam, I think most people would be horrified to discover the number of products they purchase which come from businesses that support anti-life causes from abortion to LGBTQ+ and transgender surgeries as well as Hamas, BLM, etc. Such as this is rampant throughout the consumer world and nigh impossible to avoid.

  2. God bless you, Charlie! I pledged a donation, then had to freeze my CC for a while. At this point, I would like to send a donation with the purchase price of your manual that will be for sale in hard copy. Can’t get my printer working!

  3. Speaking of Darkness & Light …. I have a 100% Eclipse Report.

Turned out to be a near perfect day here for The Event with a mostly clear Spring Day.

I had a few friends over for Hot Dogs, Beer & Junk Food …. Once in a LifeTime Deal … Ya know! …. I expected big crowd on Lake and in my ‘hood but … No? All the Barbarian Horde Warnings were … BS? Perhaps in my Red State most people showed up for work!

Anyway … very memorable! We had over 4 min of “Darkness” but it was sorta like 30 min before/after Dawn/Sundown “Darkness” but not quite. Sun’s Corona around Moon spectacular with two Planets, that we could see, shining forth. I’m fortunate to have seen it! 😉

  4. Charlie I love your work and your writings and have been following you online for many years, but really, Starbucks?? Seriously? Starbucks should be boycotted not patronized, for their rotten far-left, pro-abort, pro-homosexual, ESG BS agenda.

If you just need a place to sit and do your work, go somewhere else, anywhere else, and buy a cup of hot water or bring your own instant, organic coffee instead. Jus’ sayin’…

    1. Lia Rose, the problem you note connected to Starbucks is not just an issue with Starbucks. I think most people would be horrified to discover the number of products they purchase which come from businesses that support the anti-life causes you name… and more. Such as this is rampant throughout the consumer world.

    2. I understand your point, Lia, but I rarely do hard boycotts. The reason is simply that if I did boycott everything that offended Christian sensibilities, I would have to boycott almost everything. People choose a few places that are obvious to them and miss all that are every bit as bad but not as obvious. The problem is that we have forsaken a healthy Christian culture – and until we retake that, things will not change. So I devote myself to changing that…and evangelizing where I can.

  5. The spiritual fact that God chose the Solemnity of the Annunciation for the eclipse is striking. It reminded me of how Charlie pointed out the connection between the feast of St. Padre Pio, the star alignment and the “Woman Clothed with the Sun” of Revelation. For a very short time, the Son of God was eclipsed within the womb of the Virgin Maria. Mary, represented by the moon which can only reflect the light of the sun, for the duration of her pregnancy carried the Light of the World within her womb; in the framework of eternity, a brief moment. For those who have internal eyes to see, the moment is dazzling. Ave Stella Maris.
