No More Dancing With the Devil

By Charlie Johnston

What do you do when you find an opponent is consistently dealing in bad faith? You quit negotiating, for you can rely on nothing he says. It is all a lie designed to manipulate and destroy. When you get to that point, the only reasonable option is to ignore everything he says and demand his unconditional surrender.

The trial of Kyle Rittenhouse in Kenosha revealed that, contrary to almost unanimous corporate media reports, Rittenhouse acted solely in self-defense. The media knew their lies were just that – and have only doubled down on them because they hate this boy ideologically. Within a half hour of looking at the video of the Covington kids a few years ago, it was obvious that they were not the aggressors, but the victims. But they were conservative so the media smeared them, knowing it was a lie. By May of 2017, it was clear – and every senator knew – that Russian collusion was a lie and a fantasy. Yet they knowingly kept up the smear for ideological reasons for years to come. The media and the left are excited about the bizarre persecution of Project Veritas, of Steve Bannon, and of the Justice Department defining parents who complain at school board meetings as domestic terrorists. These people are not misguided, they are not merely wrong, they have given themselves over to evil and become acolytes of the father of lies.

Exorcists are advised to avoid extraneous conversations with the possessed, for the devil merely uses such to spread confusion and accomplish his own aims. We are now at that point with those who have no concern for truth, honor, or facts, but want only to use rhetoric as a tactic to spread confusion and accomplish their own aims. That includes all of the left, the corporate media, and, sadly, the once-honorable Democratic Party. There is no point to discussion with them and much risk in it. They simply must be stopped.

We see this will to power instinct in something as innocuous as the response to Covid. Just 30 years ago, all Americans and the media would have howled in outrage if any party had tried to do what the Democratic Party insists on doing. What do we know – from public health officials – about the “vaccines?” First, that they are not vaccines at all, but experimental therapeutics. Second, that they neither confer immunity to the disease nor prevent transmission, but merely mitigate some symptoms. Third, that the price for such mitigation is a dramatic increase in deaths and other serious injuries from the therapeutic called “vaccines.” How many deaths? We don’t know for sure as public health officials and the government have actually tried to suppress that information and punish doctors who report such deaths and injuries. Despite this, we do know that there have been far more deaths in this last year from the therapeutic than from all actual vaccines combined from the last 31 years. So do the government and public health authorities run from this therapeutic in terror? No, they insist on mandating it for everyone, including children for whom it confers NO benefit and dramatically increases the risk of death and injury for the child. Meanwhile, idiotic, virtue-signaling parents who cannot read a data set and are unwilling to even consider serious evidence from serious sources will risk their children’s lives in order to show how trendily smart they are. “Smart” because they have chosen an officially preferred narrative, not because they actually know anything. Meanwhile, many doctors are not really scientists, but merely exotic cable installers – not knowing the principles behind what they practice, but only what officials tell them to do. Meantime, a growing number of doctors actually do understand the lie that is being pushed. Some heroically fight back – and risk their licenses and careers because of it. More go along so as not to lose their job or career – and so become complicit in the gathering holocaust. This anti-intellectual will to power is nakedly evil.

Meanwhile, much of our religious leadership has collapsed into ignorance, superstition and collaboration with the authoritarians. It is a sorrowful thing for this Catholic to have to acknowledge that neither the Pope nor Vatican authorities nor many Bishops are reliable defenders of the faith or the faithful any longer. They just say whatever they want to accomplish what they want with no regard for consistency or docility to ancient apostolic and Scriptural teaching.

Take the assault on the traditional Latin Mass. The Pope does have disciplinary authority to suppress it for grave reasons, but to declare it invalid means that for 500 years, Catholics celebrated an invalid form of Mass. That simply cannot be. But what else to expect from a Pope who insists it was right and proper to put an offering to a pagan goddess, Pachamama, on the altar of Christ? It was blasphemy and the abomination which causes desolation. Within months after it was done, the Mass, itself, was suppressed throughout the world – often with the bewildered (and sometimes even eager) collaboration of Bishops who took a solemn oath to defend Christ and His people to the death. The Pope usually says the right things about life. But in the company of pro-abortion public officials, he is jovial and all smiles – while in the company of pro-life public officials, he is dour and condemnatory. If you want to know who a man is, listen to what he says but, more importantly, pay attention to what he does. A few years ago my daughter in a phone conversation with me asked with puzzlement, “Dad, about this Pope…” Before she could finish I told her all the things I taught her about the faith when she was little are still true and not to worry about it. In real relief, she said, “I thought so, but I figured I better check with you.”

I am not sure how to deal with this. The Priests who have been my most trusted guides over the last 30 years are all Priests of Opus Dei. Opus Dei prides itself on its fidelity to the Magisterium and its loyalty to the Holy Father. A quarter of a century ago I told them it was quite easy to be loyal to Pope John Paul, but they should begin to prepare themselves for a time when it would be very difficult to balance their legitimate duty of obedience with their legitimate duty of fidelity to the Gospel and the Magisterium – and that they should begin preparing for that balancing act right then. I think a lot of very good Priests and Bishops are often paralyzed because of this very problem and are genuinely trying to find what is right.

As for me, I privately think this Pope has become a scourge against the faithful – perhaps in punishment for our own faithlessness for so long. I pray regularly for his conversion – and while I would not disobey a legitimate order from him that was within the sphere of his legitimate authority, I do not rely on him to defend or define the faith or the faithful. I look to the Church Fathers, great saints, orthodox Bishops and Priests and the authentic Magisterium for that. Meantime, I trust the Lord who says that the gates of hell will not prevail against His Church to let this scourge continue through its appointed time and then gather the faithful back again with nothing being lost. And if Francis finds his way to the road to Damascus, I will rejoice – but I don’t rely on it.

The bottom line is that the devil has now launched his sustained and intense confrontation against the faith, the faithful, the culture, family, and the very concept of free will. I will no longer engage with the great liar or his acolytes. I’m not the only one who has noticed how suddenly stark things have become. Both serious Christians and serious Jews have started to realize, with some surprise – but serious resolve – that we have reached a strange tipping point no one expected to come upon us so quickly.

My focus has shifted dramatically during my illness. I am no longer concerned about engaging with people and institutions which deal in bad faith. They have become acolytes of evil. Rather, I seek to disengage with them and fight with the only acceptable terms being their unconditional surrender. I pray that for many that will involve their repentance and conversion. I am not sure how that all will look, but I am convinced it is the only way forward now. We have, indeed, reached the time St. John Paul foretold as Cardinal Wojtyla back in Philadelphia in 1976:

“We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. I do not think that the wide circle of the American Society, or the whole wide circle of the Christian Community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-church, between the gospel and the anti-gospel, between Christ and the antichrist. The confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God’s Plan, and it must be a trial which the Church must take up, and face courageously.”

Let us take up the trial with courage and steady resolve. When we do, God will show us the way forward. My priority now is to find that way and serve the Lord and my fellows.

  1. Charlie in Editor mode rightfully urges us to investigative excellence ; an excellence.
Sundance , Catholic, at CTH is a master of it and getting better each year.

Steve Bannon, Catholic, at his warroom , mentions Sundance for this groundbreaking expose into the marxist fedgov machinery supportin what Michael Yon calls Information Warfare.

    Why is this important?

Information warfare is a primary tool of the marxists.

Did ‘gender fluidity’ and ‘pronouns’ just arise spontaneously?
They are inflicted upon us by the enemies of Christ.
Those enemies have machinery in place with which they assault us or protect themselves and their machinery

Once you recognize that information warfare requires machinery, a door is opened in your mind and you instinctivelly start looking for the machinery.

Destroying that machinery is one front in this global civil war.

    God bless

    1. I read about Cupich losing that vote for the right to life committee. It’s excellent news, but what is not so excellent is that it was not a huge margin for the vote. The bishops were barely more than even on the vote. But I’m thankful for the result for starters. Come Holy Spirit and wake up the bishops and all clergy!

      1. There was a bit of a misunderstanding there. Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City was elected to a four-year term as chairman of the pro-life committee in 2017. Don’t be disappointed in the closeness of the vote then: it is almost unprecedented for an Archbishop to even challenge, much less defeat, a Cardinal. It shows what the American Bishops think of Cupich, whatever the Pope thinks. The incoming chairman elected this year is Baltimore Archbishop William Lori. I don’t know much about him, but he is an appointee of Pope Benedict XVI, so that is hopeful – and the USCCB is moving in a more orthodox direction. Former chairman Archbishop Naumann is a true champion of the life issues, so he will be a tough act to follow.

    1. That’s a very good article that clearly explains the insanity we find ourselves in with others in our lives. We expect it more-or-less in worldly people, but to see it in people who are committed to prayer/faith life, is gutting. It’s torture.

I have a dear sib whose entire TD celebration is in entire jeopardy because of a small grandchild who is sick. They have drunk every drop of the kool aide. While I do understand the complexity, webs of deceit, and pressure, I want to scream: walk away! This is not the droid you’re looking for! Nothing to see here! Live your life boldly and without fear! But all I can do is be silent and offer silent love and prayers.

I asked my husband about this , how? why? He says: “fear.” Funny, I never thought I was that much of a rebel or fighter, but time and again, throughout my life, I find myself on the outside of this kind of herd mentality. Sure I am scared, but no way can I swallow the poison. So I guess you can say I am more scared of swallowing the poison/joining then living outside of the mass hypnosis. I often wonder about that, hah: “God, how (do I see these things and others, who I look up to, don’t)? why? (to what purpose have you given this to me?) It is not possible to understand, but yet, TYG, I have a spark of hope, TYG.

God bless you Sr. Bear, yours and us, everyone!

      1. I wish I could edit. I would add, those are rhetorical questions I ask but they come again and not, especially when life speeds up (and it has). The quote from that link Sr. Bear gave, is Charlie’s rallying call, LOL. TDL. TNRS. God knows we need to hear it over and over, from many varied sources. +TYG+ God bless us, Everyone!

“Many of those coming together for support have a strong foundation in their Judeo-Christian faith that gives them the strength and grace to endure persecution, and continue to promote the core values of their professions, and best care for those entrusted to their care.

And let us maintain a spirit of humility, and not feed the hatred and toxic spirit nurtured by this totalitarian cult. Let the peace and the love of Christ reign in our hearts, and dictate our private and public words and actions.

We can then be a safe refuge for those in the days ahead who come to understand how they have been deceived and manipulated by those perpetuating this medical tyranny, as they reach out for information and support.”

      2. Littlelight, I wonder about those questions also at times. I think of the Scripture that they have ears but do not hear, eyes but see not. We are blessed, but more accountable: “to whom much is given, much is expected”. What’s the old joke, “Lord give me patience, and I want it now!” 🙂 We just keep watching and waiting, and listening for our marching orders. Mama cover us all with your mantle!

    =========================== (quote below)
Thanksgiving. A time to “give thanks.”

This can be hard to do when you heart is broken.

And yet, there is much for be thankful for.

We can look back, and give thanks. We can look around us, and find people and blessings to be grateful for.

Giving thanks, of course, does not mean that things aren’t painful, frustrating, or confusing. For me, sometimes the grief is so great, that giving thanks becomes a deliberate, against-the-current choice.

One Thanksgiving, I made a gratitude list. I listed everything I could think of that I was thankful for. I was surprised – stunned, actually – by how long that list became.

Another year, I made it a habit to thank God for three things to start the day, and then end the day with three more.

Yet another Thanksgiving, I specifically made a list of people I was thankful for and then contacted them (if that was possible) to express that gratitude.

When times are tough, we need some heart vitamins to keep going. Giving thanks can help.

What and who are you grateful for this Thanksgiving?

When this season comes around, I can’t help but think of these Bible verses:

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Sometimes I read that and shake my head. Impossible. Those words seem so contrary to my feelings and my pain. Yet, God invites me to lift my eyes and deliberately engage in beyond-my-situation thanksgiving.

I am praying for you today as I write this. You are created in the image of God and of priceless, eternal value. Even if all around you shun and forsake you, God is with you today, now. His love for you is unconditional and perfect, even if your heart can’t feel it at present.

Be kind to yourself. Be patient with yourself. Let the grief come. Express your heart. Mix in some gratitude and thanks. You are not alone.

A blessed Thanksgiving from me to you…

    Until next time,

P.S. Look for another Virtual Hangout Zoom invitation soon. I’m glad we’re in this together.

  5. Finally lit a candle for you Charlie before mass today!

It occurred to me that we should of course not dialog with the left, however, how shall we interact with those too far on the right? The evil one uses everyone and anyone that he can to get folks to despair.

    1. I think Charlie set the criteria in many of his previous pieces, Little One. You just know when, and if not, someone is respecting you and your ideas as you do theirs. When you begin to speak, it becomes evident if someone is interested in a discussion or if s/he is solidly set in repeating narratives rather than exchanging ideas.

  8. Yes, it is as you have said above Charlie… 😦

JP II’ s prophetic warning is coming to fruition right now.

  9. The old Latin Mass & pre-Vatican II stuff was before my time, I never understood the hatred & aggression towards the old Mass, it was the “Elephant in the Room” that no one ever talked about and didn’t make any sense…

Does anyone know what make of the “Vigano Tapes”? And that ArchBishop’s plea to the faithful to give sanctuary to fleeing Priests of Bishops who want to force a experimental gene therapy on their Priests.

When is this nightmare going to end….

  10. “I privately think this Pope has become a scourge against the faithful.” That is exactly what my husband has been saying ever since Pachamama. What. A. SCOURGE. Now that he is trying to remove the one thing that planted the seed of faith in my soul as a child, the one thing that brought my husband home to the faith, and the one thing that helps us try to raise our children in holiness (Latin mass), I find it very difficult to pray for this abusive father, or his intentions. I know I still need to, but…sheesh it’s hard. I may or may not interject the word “GOOD!” when we’re praying for the “intentions” of the Holy Father to gain indulgences. One day we’ll have a Pope who is Catholic again. I really miss that.

    1. You know, Pope Francis is the symptom of our problems, not the cause. Pope Francis is a puppet of the Deep Church in very much a similar way that President Biden is a puppet of the Globalist Deep State. If Pope Francis were to die today, another corrupt Deep Church Pope would simply replace him, the Apostate Deep Church is the source of our woes, and has been around in the shadows long before Francis was elected Pope.
