  4. Please pray for the repose of the soul of my great-aunt Margaret. She died in the early morning hours this day. She was 100 years old and ready to meet Jesus. Although not Catholic, she was a faithful evangelical Christian whose ardent prayers saved me from a troubled life and sent me all the way to baptism in the Catholic Church 20 years ago.

  11. Please pray for a little five year old boy who is being singled out in a negative way by both staff and students at school. My son-in-law teaches at this school and has taken his concerns to both the little guy’s teacher and the principal to no avail. My son in-law has now approached the school psychologist who is in agreement with his observations.
    My heart breaks for this little one who is suffering such injustice at such a tender age.

  13. Please pray for an elderly man named James. He was just admitted to the hospital for influenza. He has pneumonia and congestive heart failure and is in declining health. Thank you.

  14. My 48 yr old cousin Karen died yesterday of her battle with Cancer. She is the wife and mother of four children in their teens. I ask you to pray for the repose of her soul and for my family. My parents are beside themselves with grief and her parents have now lost both their children. We shall be traveling to Denver, CO shortly.

    Her brother Timothy died when he was 14yrs. old. Further, our Great Uncle Fred 99yrs, died Jan 22nd. While my family was planning one funeral, we now have two. Fortunately, Karen died on a great Feast Day for the Church: January 25th. the Conversion of Saint Paul.

    A quote from Saint Paul describes her Cancer fight in life, she was a warrior with the heart of a Navy Seal. Today, my Plenary Indulgence (Stations of the Cross) was for her. Tomorrow shall be for Uncle Fred.

  16. My sister just called me to say that our Aunt Betty in California, age 89, died in her sleep while recuperating from hip replacement surgery. She had a recent hospitalization for some heart procedures recently. She was the oldest sibling of my dear departed mother. Thank you, kindly. ❤

  20. I have a prayer request. I am having lots of physical pain in my life lately. I’m having a hard time handling it. Could you pray I have the strength I need or a solution? I feel like such a wimp but I don’t handle pain well. I am offering it up for whatever God needs it for . Blessings and prayers for you all. And thank you so much!

    5. Hi Cheri, as a fellow pain wimp, I am offering up prayers that God will show you the way to relieve your pain. Sometimes the answer can be quite unexpected, several years ago I had pain in my hands so bad I could barely even hold silverware. My daughter told me to try giving up nightshades and it actually worked! I can have some tomatoes and peppers now, but potatoes mess me up.

      1. PCJ, I’m in the same boat: I can have some tomatoes and peppers, but I can’t eat potatoes without getting shooting pains in my hands and feet. Kind of puts the kibosh on my father’s delectable homemade french fries! Grrr. 🙂

          1. Butter, sour cream, and just a sprinkling of nutmeg. Then smash. That’s how my sister-in-law from Germany makes them. Divine!

            Since heaven is described as a banquet, I’m fully expecting french fries and German mashed potatoes if and when I get there.

                1. Oh yum. I especially love chicken fried steak–or “chicken fried” anything for that matter. I even slice up liver strips and chicken fry them. Or roll some trout in bisquit mix and fry them up with pan fried potatoes. Dont even get me started on barbeque…: )

        2. Hey, Mick, if you like sweet potatoes, have your dad make you some of those. I love ’em. Crispy, salty, seasoned, whatever. But you probably hate sweet potatoes, alas. Since there are only a certain limited number of sweet potato fries in the world, that means more for me! 😀

A benevolent captain you are 🙂 The other day, hubby mentioned that Frank McGrath, the good-natured cook on the ‘ole tv western,Wagon Train, reminds him of “that Charlie fella in those storm prophecy videos”. I agreed, but the affable persona belies your keen intellect and astute manner. I came here for the sizzle, but stayed for the substance. You and B. were very patient when I peppered you with ‘when is the sky falling, I need the month and day, so I can have all my kiddies back home.’ I actually learned of TRNS site via another blog, so I try to do likewise and segue the ASOH website into comments on other blogs if relatable. This virtual family is a haven for the heart, mind and soul. May St. Michael protect all here, both corporally and spiritually.

                      Yeah, my brothers may have named me after a cartoon character; but I got the last laugh. My oldest brother taught at my high school once I hit 10th grade; so he ended up having to drive me to school every day for 3 years, and he always had to float me some lunch or milk money when I forgot mine. And my other brother… well, I was born on his 6th birthday. He wanted a bicycle, or at least a brother. Instead, he had to share a birthday cake with me for 12 years (and it was always chocolate, which is my favorite but not his). 🙂

              1. I prefer them sautéed in butter, with a little brown sugar, cinnamon, and pineapple chunks (with plenty of pineapple juice added), along with some walnut pieces. If that is disordered, I reckon I’ll have a little more purgatory than I counted on.

                    1. No, we most certainly do NOT agree. I like pumpkin pie as much as the next guy; but I’ll take sweet potato pie over pumpkin pie every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

                      Rats; just as we were starting to find some common ground….

                      How ’bout this: can we agree that lemon meringue pie is better than both pumpkin and sweet potato pies? And I mean REAL lemon meringue pie made with Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk, not that impostor made with water or whatever-the-heck it is that leaves it looking and tasting so disappointing.

                    3. I once found some purple sweet potatoes at the natural grocers and made a pie with them.
                      I’m sorry Charlie, it was really good. Looked cool too…purple pie. Husband couldn’t get into it though, he thought it “wasn’t right” so we had pumpkin too : )

      2. Hi PineconeJill. Thank you very much for your prayers. My pain is in my left hand. I just had carpal tunnel surgery 4 weeks ago thinking it would solve the terrible pain in my thumb area. It didn’t. I had carpal tunnel according to the doctor, numbness, tingling etc. But I may have basal thumb joint arthritis too. I will look into nightshades. I love potatoes snd tomatoes. If I have to give them up I would. I am going to talk with my doctor about surgery for basal joint arthritis. The pain hurt so bad yesterday I told my husband I’d be willing to lose my thumb to get rid of the pain. I’d like to keep my thumb though.

        This morning I thought of the saying that a positive outcome is just as likely as a negative. Then I opened my daily reading book and asked God to help me pick a page. It was the reading about that. I need to trust in God.

        1. Yeah, mine started in my thumbs and then crawled up into my elbows. Even had to give up crocheting. Super lame. Then you try and pray and you’re like “God, I dont understand!” and He’s all like “I dont need you to understand, I need you to trust” and you’re all like “Fine…can you open that can for me then?” then he’s like “What, you know got bad thumbs, cant you afford an electric can opener?”
          Anyway, I digress…

          Definitely give the nightshade-free diet a try for a while and if you’re inclined, try leaving out the gluten too. They are all inflammatory. There’s an even more strict diet called the “AIP Protocol” you might get some ideas from too, its not meant to be a forever diet, it just knocks out the inflammation and then you add foods back in to see which ones are the worst offenders.

          1. Thank you, PCJ. I used to crochet but started to try knitting as it gave me some fellowship with people at my church. I’m hoping I can still do a little of that. I’m looking at giving up the nightshade family and see how that goes. My husband thinks my depression affects the arthritis some. I had a situation happen on Wednesday evening that was upsetting.

            How are your thumbs and elbow now?

            1. They are much better. The thumbs will probably always be my weakest joint, when the weather gets bad or I overuse them (like too much scissoring) they will ache, but its way better than before and my elbows dont hurt at all anymore.
              I also picked up knitting, (after a failed attempt at taping a crochet stick to my pointer finger. It actually worked, but was just too weird). I hated the sticks but found circular needles with with the shortest possible tips worked for me. It’s way slower than crochet, but makes a nicer fabric.
              I am praying that God leads you to the things that work for you.

                Sometimes when I am in the middle of a pain episode I remember to apply the suffering for someone. That is a big remember! Each joint gets a different person. Doesn’t necessarily mean the pain lessens just that the suffering is not in vain. You probably do that already. This note is more for me than you, most likely. Praying for you.

                1. Oh yes, I believe in no suffering ever going to waste.
                  I like to have a little fun with it too, if my thumbs are hurting I’ll say “Ok God, I’m offering this up for people who are in purgatory because they twiddled their thumbs instead of doing what needed to get done”. Or something like that. If a person pops into my head when I’m having a pain I’ll offer it up for them. (Sometimes the pain will even cease which I find fascinating).
                  My csf leak started after all the mess with the church last year so I offered the headaches up for the church and the priests. (Well, to be honest, at first I prayed that I could share the headache with priests who were behaving badly, put them out of commission for a while so the good guys could take control, but when there was no mysterious outbreak of spinal headaches in the church, I gave up and started offering them up).
                  The best thing I have learned from all of this is that my family, especially my gruff construction worker husband, loves me whether I am my normal busy bee self or a compromised couch potato.
                  They love me, not what I do. That is a huge lesson for me, quite possibly why I was allowed this cross.

        2. Cheri, So sorry to hear of your condition. Have you tried red light therapy-there’s some non-commercial types available online. I’ve had alot of pain issues also-Penetrex,DeepBlueRub lotions ,MSM supplement helps. Also in most states, CBD oil (or Hemp), without the active ingredient is legal. (There’s even a catholic family who has an online company that offers it.) Praying for you to find lots of relief quickly. Thanks to those posting nutritional tips.

            1. Beautiful sign of hope in that quote, Cheri. In my own struggle with depression in the past, I discovered through counseling and a lot of reading – from good Catholic therapists and spiritual writers – that depression is often a mask for anger. Rather than expressing it in a healthy way, we humans are tempted to just be nice and forgive and forget without tending to the wounds that often precipitate anger and then we end up turning the anger inward which causes depression. When I was able to own and explore my anger, doing so with the Lord in light of the Scriptures, great healing ensued.

              Two resources for you, if you wish to take a look and consider:
              One is the work of the Bible Evangelista, Sonja Corbitt, found here. She has a ton of incredibly insighful podcasts. For a minimum monthly contribution to support her ministry work, you can tap into her archives. There is a profound series in those archives called Healing the Father Wound which is actually about healing any and all wounds because they block our ability to completely trust our Father in Heaven.

              Another is a recently given talk on forgiveness which prompted me to ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind any forgotten hurt that I might yet need to review that I can fully forgive and be set completely free. It’s here.

                1. Oh great, Cheri, on all fronts. I’m glad it was helpful and I’m super glad you’re working with a Catholic counselor – although some are Catholic in name only. I don’t mean to cause distrust. It’s just well known that some people call themselves Catholic yet don’t uphold and honor all our teachings. If that’s the case, such a counselor can still facilitate healing by offering gems that promote the healing process which is ultimately between you and God. Praying, now, that Our Lady tends to all the details as you continue on your healing journey. God bless you too, Cheri!

                  1. My counselor previously was a pastoral counselor at our church and worked with EPS ( pregnancy services). I feel pretty confident in her in that area.

                    I think learning to see God as more loving would probably help me. I didn’t get much positive in that way growing up. I, too, can be hard on myself if I don’t measure up.

        2. It can be one of my weaknesses too, it always seems to be lurking, waiting for an entrance. Makes me think it is partly a spiritual attack. When things get too much I go to Mary with a good lie-on-the-floor-runny-nosed-cry. I dont know why, but it helps.

    (When I worked in a hospice inpatient unit in Colorado Springs, we would often say, “They pass away in three’s.” It’s not always true, but more times than not, it is. We would also notice that sometimes many more people would die around holidays like Easter or Christmas, or during a full moon. Likewise, maternity units would notice a marked increase in women giving birth when the moon was full. Fascinating, isn’t it?)

  23. Hi all, Asking for prayers for healing of a cerebrospinal fluid leak that I’ve been dealing with since Thanksgiving. Its mostly just frustrating because the only thing that relieves the symptoms once they start is laying down.
    I would also like to ask for prayers regarding two job positions that my husband has applied for, that if offered both, he chooses the one that God wants for our family (or that God blocks the one that is wrong for us). Both jobs would put us much closer to family which would be a great help to me.

      1. Thanks Beckita, I try not to whine, and things have improved somewhat. I can walk around for quite a while now before I have to lay down, but sitting does me in very quickly which means no driving or pew sitting, so I haven’t been to Mass or confession since Thanksgiving. Tres lame.

  24. Please pray for my former daughter-in-law. She struggles with her mental health and is having another bad spell. We are helping our son (who is non-custodial parent) take care of our granddaughter while the mom is sick. My six-year-old granddaughter is very aware of her mom’s illness. She said that her mom is having another “episode”. I had a bad feeling last weekend during my granddaughter’s visit that something was not right with her mom. Granddaughter’s backpack was filled will old rotten bananas from school lunches during the week. I didn’t think it right that her mom didn’t clear out her backpack. Poor granddaughter was crying and embarrassed about the rotten food. My son was upset with my granddaughter for not cleaning out her bag, but I had a gut feeling that she was protecting her mom by not wanting to talk about it. And then, after dropping her back at her mom’s, granddaughter called my son crying and told him she was sad and didn’t want to stay at her mom’s. This situation breaks my heart – for my granddaughter and also for her mom who has a good heart but has periods of mentally instability. Today, my granddaughter and I stopped by the church. We lit to some candles and prayed to Our Lady of Perpetual Help for her mom. As we were leaving, she wrote in the book of Mass petitions, “Pray for my mom.” I am sure my agnostic son will hear the whole story and admonish me for taking her, but what can a little worried child do for a sick parent but pray? As you pray for my granddaughter’s mom, please also pray that my granddaughter will be baptized one day.

It’s crazy out there…I miss mayberry…norwalk, ohio😄 thank you all so much..Charlie, we saw a squirrel cross the road in one of those Virginian quiet roads…😆 got you all covered in my sincere prayers too. GOD’S WILL BE DONE..and the people of the Kingdom and the people of heaven, shall rise together, shall rise forever and God shall rule😏

    I will pray for all of you, that Jesus will work in your hearts so that your family can find His peace and that your granddaughter will be raised with love and not strife, because love, in my humble opinion, is what God has placed us here for, both to learn, and to give.
    An extra thought. I use green scapulars when a situation seems bad–they do seem to help and in our family at least have been most efficacious. We went from no-one attending church to four faithful Catholics after much prayer and greening. It certainly wont hurt to try anyway: )

    2. Yeah, I’m like the green scapulator. I keep extras in my purse to give to people having a hard time.
      I even stealth-scapulate people, hiding them inside christmas ornaments or stuffed animals.
      When I say the prayer I feel like it joins me and everyone I have scapulated to Mary who will guide us all to Jesus. : )

  28. Please pray for my mom, Emily Dombrowski, who was diagnosed with a quickly progressing fatal brain disease (CJD). We’ve been surrounding her in prayer with Divine Mercy Chaplets & the Novena to Our Lady of Lourdes as she spends her final days with us. I would be so grateful for any prayers you could join with ours. I’d also be thankful for keeping my family lifted in prayer as we discern the best way to care & provide comfort to mom and as we try to come to terms with this sudden devastating disease while surrending it all to Jesus. My overflowing appreciation to the great prayer warriors of this site.♥️

    2. Oh, Maggie. Ave Maria is also one of my mom’s favorites. This past November we happen to be talking about funerals and my mom told me she wanted that sung. (Shevis going to squeeze out every last tear!) The music suggestion is much appreciated. I pulled out some CDs I made of music we used to sing in folk group and I think they’re bringing her comfort.     1. Thank you, Carmel. My dad’s name is Joseph & he’s one of my “go to” saint’s for specific family prayers. And, although my mom was fairly unresponsive in the hospital, a card with our Blessed Mother did grab her attention and even brought about a few words indicating her desire to keep hospital staff from accidentally throwing it away. I’m sure Mother Mary and Joseph are right beside us. Your prayers mean a lot.

  31. Two prayer requests for your consideration:

    1. For a fellow Star Trek fan scheduled for open heart surgery … he is supposed to transfer to a better hospital tonight. A very nice and friendly guy whom I know on a surface level. That said, am not sure if he believes in God, and he may be facing death now. Please pray for a successful outcome to the surgery, and in all cases, please pray for his salvation.

    It seems urgent to me because yes … signs. Literally today. You know those coincidences? Well, this Star Trek fan in the hospital awaiting heart surgery has a rather uncommon name, and it happens to be a “place name” that happens to be the name of a nearby city. So today while I was driving, I was on a stretch of highway and his name kept coming up on the highway signs!

    So please pray! (And yes, I did go to the Chapel on my way home to pray for him extra hard.)

    2. For the repose of the soul of a friend of mine who possibly committed suicide (the priest at his funeral hinted as much). While he died about two years ago now this August, prayers would be welcome. (A traditional Russian song he used to play on the violin came on the radio today.)

        Am replying so quickly because regarding my fellow Trekkie, well, our Star Trek club had a convention that we were working at today (which he was supposed to attend but of course couldn’t) … and at the convention, people were talking about visiting him in the hospital and about tonight being crucial. Well, I’ve been checking Facebook and so far nobody has posted photos of today’s convention and nobody is chatting about it at all either, which seems to indicate to me that the medical situation is taking first priority and is pretty serious.

        And many thanks for praying for the repose of my friend’s soul. So many positive things I would like to say about him, but would rather not on a public forum, for privacy reasons. But I will say that once I went to see him play the violin at a pro-life fundraiser being held at a Protestant church, and I was really happy to support him for publicly taking a pro-life stand.

Dont give up hope for him, we can pray for someone who has already gone, and those prayers can change things for the better, even years later.
      It’s never too late, remember, God exists outside of the time-space continuum.

        At least, there have been a few Facebook posts about the convention, indicating sort of a state of normalcy, and the Trekkie hit the Like button on a post from his hospital bed. Still, for spiritual reasons, it seems like a state of emergency to me. Anyways, I offered up my Communion for him, and the cool thing was that part of the Communion song was words to the effect of turning a heart of stone into a heart of love!

        As for my friend who died, yes, I feel there is hope for many reasons. And I don’t want him to be a forgotten soul in purgatory. As for this particular man, many years ago I feel I was allowed to take a step beyond, Continuum-wise, through a dream, and I even told him my dream (of course he looked at me like I was strange, smiled like I was a bit nuts, didn’t say a word, and moved to talk to the other party guests at his mansion). Because on the day that he and his wife moved into his mansion, at the exact time that was happening in real life, I was taking a nap and in a dream, saw them moving into the mansion, and even the color they had painted the walls … Which wall color I saw for the first time in waking life at the first party they invited me to. That was years ago, and led me to believe he was special, like the rich man in the Bible that invited all the poor who couldn’t pay him back to the feast. Because he invited all the single people he knew to the music parties at his mansion where he would play the violin, and all you had to do to get into the party was bring a dish to pass, and you knew you would have somewhere to go every New Years Eve.

        1. Good to hear your friend is still ok health-wise, but it is still good to pray for their soul, a person can seem fine on the outside but a complete mess on the inside.
          I hear you about telling people spiritual experiences. I’ve tried to share some of mine, even with priests, and found myself being avoided. Its hard because its like being given a cool gift but not being able to show anyone.
          It sounds like your friend in the mansion was a kind soul who knew the pain of loneliness.
          I will pray that at the moment of death he was drawn to Christ and that our merciful Christ draws him in.

    I’m praying for healing for your family and a Chaplet of Divine Mercy for your son.

    When I see a family on the TV forgiving the accused of some horrific crime against one of their loved ones, I wonder how they do that. They seem at peace. I know in my head that forgiveness is more for us but my heart doesn’t understand it. Praying for you. What happened to you is heartbreaking. Tears are in my eyes as I write this.

    1. HTTP, some people, things and events that need forgiveness were and are so deeply wounding that it takes time to fully forgive. I will never forget a talk given by now deceased Msgr Mauser from the Diocese of Helena. His entire family of 13 people were killed by the communists in Slovenia one night and he alone escaped alive. He said it took twenty-five years to fully forgive. God understands. He knows our hearts.

      Forgiveness is a HUGE need in these times of intense disorder. A fine presentation about choosing to forgive by an act of the will while, also, working through the process of forgiving was given at the Seek 2019 conference by Fr. John Burns and Sr. Miriam James Heidland SOLT. Sister has a great presence via many apostolates online and in speaking throughout the country. I LOVE her work. So real and down to earth is she while addressing the pressing spiritual matters of the day. Father’s brief bio:
      Father John Burns is a priest for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. He studied business marketing at the University of Notre Dame, but later realized a deeper call to preach the infinite love of God with his whole life. Ordained a priest in 2010, he has served in parish ministry and taught moral theology in the seminary. Father John also works extensively with Mother Teresa’s order, the Missionaries of Charity, and has provided them with retreats and conferences in Africa, Europe, and the United States. He is the author of the book “Lift Up Your Heart: A 10-Day Personal Retreat.” Father John currently lives in Rome while he undertakes doctoral studies on the theology of forgiveness.

      1. Forgiveness is so important, it is like Love’s twin.
        About ten years ago I had alot of trouble in this area and struggled (or perhaps “wallowed” is a better word) with anger and bitterness (yes, me!). It was justified, but destructive none the less.
        I was literally transformed by a talk given by Jeff Cavins called “The Hidden Power of Forgiveness”.
        I credit it with saving our marriage, and returning/converting us and two of our children to the church (still working on the rest of them, that’s where “The Scapulator” comes in).

The hospice personnel are saying that it could be any day now. Ed is a good man, a good husband, a good father and grandfather, and a good Christian. He is also one heck of a Marine. Thanks.

        1. St Michael is also patron for my husband and son.
          I know little about angels, but I do believe that humans, made in the likeness of God, have something to offer in heaven for spiritual warfare. I am sure St Michael will be happy to meet your godfather–probably even put him to work if he’s interested (I know my husband will eventually be grabbing a weapon and going after the bad guys–that’s just his nature.)
          Also, apparently my godparents are also my grandparents, so I’ve been praying for them all along : )

  41. Please pray for my 6-year-old son. He is getting dental work done tomorrow under general anesthesia. He has anxiety and will not let a dentist or hygienist work in his mouth. Now he has cavities that need to be filled. Pray that the procedure goes well and that his anxiety is okay during his recovery from the anesthetic.

    A woman, Alicia D. is on Life Support. She has had a debilitating muscular disease causing her organs to fail.

    Her family had decided to remove her Life support plug this afternoon:

    Alicia is a devout Roman Catholic, who has raised her Family in a beautiful orthodox way. I last saw her a year or so at Church. I was inspired as I witnessed her children recite Latin.

      I will pray for healing from your drepression and the strength to endure. My daughter suffers from a mental health disorder so I can empathize with your struggles. I recently came across an article regarding the use of ketamine for treatment-resistant depression. It seems promising – better immediate and long-term results than electroconvulsive therapy.

  49. Could I ask for prayers for Cardinal George Pell? The press embargo was lifted today and so there is a media frenzy reporting the guilty verdict handed down last December. The trial was / is a travesty – simply unbelievable. Robert Moynihan’s most recent letter from the Vatican presents a good analysis. Coming at the end of the Vatican abuse summit ensures that emotional fires are stoked.we can but pray.
