Prayer Requests

Praying Hands with Beads
Praying Hands with Rosary Beads and Dove

On this page, readers are invited to send in their prayer requests. I will leave requests up for nine days. All readers are invited to pray for those who ask for it and any who want to offer a word of comfort are invited to do so, as well. May we work together to mutually build each other up and support each other in times of trial.

  1. I just received a text from a dear friend asking for prayers for her son. I have placed him on this list before. He is the young (thirty- something) father of two who destroyed his liver through alcoholism. He has not yet gone through the necessary counciling to be placed on a transplant list but he is currently in the hospital desperately in need. They will review his case on Wednesday. I am asking God for mercy, to loosen the rules enough to allow Jeff the life saving transplant he needs. I am praying for his entire being, mind, heart, soul and body. Thank you Jesus!

  3. Please pray for my husband Dan, our marriage and our son.

There is truly a spiritual battle for my husband’s mind going on. Or maybe it has been decided with his vote.

He was actually so angry with me today…

I prayed the Saint Michael prayer and a rosary with my son. Letting him know that it wasnt a battle between his father and I, because we love each other. That it was a spiritual battle that was going on and we have to pray.

So later my husband and I are calmly talking and it gets into “choice”- he still is singing the “I cant force my morality on someone else”. And I am seeing clearly the evil one provoking us.

It truly is a battle for souls!! I dont believe that God wants me to divorce my husband, as a priest suggested at confession last Saturday. Just suggesting it put it in my head to niggle.

    Saint Monica pray for us!

Thank you for your prayers! Please ask St. Joseph for his intervention.

    Thank you!!

        1. Praise God for the peace, Little One. I didn’t wish to add to your low feelings with the edit but I also didn’t want any regrets for revealing the sensitive details. And don’t we all contend with sensitive details, of one sort or another, in these days. Continued prayers that the Lord meets your every need.

    2. little one, I will certainly pray for you and your marriage/family. The Divine Mercy meditation I received today was consoling as I too have been impatient with others and so many seem to a short tempered and lacking in charity and humility lately:

      Teaching on Feelings

      Meditation:
During Holy Mass, I saw Jesus stretched out on the Cross, and He said to me, My pupil, have great love for those who cause you suffering. Do good to those who hate you. I answered, “O my Master, You see very well that I feel no love for them, and that troubles me.” Jesus answered, It is not always within your power to control your feelings. You will recognize that you have love if, after having experienced annoyance and contradiction, you do not lose your peace, but pray for those who have made you suffer and wish them well (Diary, 1628).

      My Prayer Response:
Thank You, Jesus, for teaching me about my feelings when annoyed by people. Help me to love them and remain in peace. Whenever I think of them, remind me to pray for them.

  5. First time here asking prayers for a friend, Louise, 61, in palliative care. She does not want to die. I assume she was brought up Catholic but doesn’t know Jesus personally….and doesn’t know what is awaiting her. Her daughter has also been battling cancer for a few years now and is presently stable. Louise’s husband is hugely supportive. Please pray for this family. Thank you so much.

  9. I’d like to bring up a praise to God and a thank you to all who prayed for Jason and April who were trying for their first child after 2 miscarriages.

Two days ago, April was induced after 37 weeks and endured 40 hours of labor. They welcomed Evelyn Rose into the world at 1:46 am, coming in at 7 pounds 13 ounces. She’s pink and very healthy with a shock of black hair like her daddy.

    Thank you, all!

            1. Happy for you, Patrick! Luxuriate in your break. I’m looking forward to mine as I’ve been on duty, this school year, to care for my three granddaughters in the mornings before school, as well as, dropping them off and then fetching them at the end of the day. Time with the Three Graces is wonderful and there’s energy expended. Especially looking forward to a wee sleep in each morning.

        1. [Imagine my saying this in my best attempt to imitate the inimitable Dick Vitale]: “Patrick Daniel… he’s a PTP-er! It was a real knee-knocker, but PD brought a W! He’s a 3-D man–a real surf-and-turfer! SERENDIPITY, BABY!!!”

Congratulations, brother; you earned it. 🙂

P.S. I know that your happy result is not because of serendipity, but rather because of God… and your busting your backside. But “Serendipity, baby!” is one of my favorite Dickie V lines, so I had to include it.

  14. Please pray for my son David. He is a Juvenile Diabetic aka Type 1. He has had this disease since he was 12. He is now 34. He has pushed the limits of the disease by not controlling high blood sugars. He is now experiencing his first diabetic complication. On Tuesday, Dec 11 he will have 7 teeth extracted by an oral surgeon. The surgery is complicated by his diabetes and so too is his recovery which takes at least 4 to 5 days. I am frightened for him. He has continuous insulin pumped into his system and this can be reduced for the surgery but cannot be stopped because he would go into ketoacidosis within an hour. This is life threatening. Insulin however must be covered with food to prevent low blood sugar and a blackout. Please pray that the surgery is successful and that his throat is not so swollen that he cannot eat aka cover the required insulin with food.

    3. Joanne, I know this is hardly comparable, but I’ll throw it out just in case: when my teens got their wisdom teeth out, the dentist recommended baby food (there’s 3-4 stages); and I’ve noticed friends who have d. drink Glucerna or Equate protein shakes. Again, pardon my unsolicited 2cents. Keeping you, David and his oral surgeon in prayer.

  16. In the service of the transmission of faith

Let us pray that people, who are involved in the service and transmission of faith, may find, in their dialogue with culture, a language suited to the conditions of the present time.

Pope Francis – December 2018 Prayer Intention

If you want to share your faith through the word, you have to listen much and carefully.
Let us imitate the style of Jesus, who adapted himself to the people He had in front of Him so as to bring God’s love to them.
Let us pray that people, who are involved in the service and transmission of faith, may find, in their dialogue with culture, a language suited to the conditions of the present time, in their dialogue with people’s hearts, and above all, by listening much. ❤

  17. I just received this prayer request through Spiritual Hospice but figured it would be more appropriate to request prayers here:

    Please pray for David.

“David is a Type 1 or Juvenile Diabetic who was diagnosed at age 12. He is now 34 and is experiencing complications due to JD and uncontrolled blood sugar even though he has been given every available device to control it. Please pray for his stubbornness and his renewing his focusing on what he has to do. He is having very serious oral surgery on Tues., Dec. 11 from not controlling his blood sugars. He will loss 7 teeth and have a long recovery.”

    Thank you.

    1. Patrick, that sounds like Joanne’s son for whom she brought this petition to us on the 5th:

“Please pray for my son David. He is a Juvenile Diabetic aka Type 1. He has had this disease since he was 12. He is now 34. Praying, still, for David… and his dear mother. I hope do Joanne gives us an update. Until then… prayers.

  20. Son in law Jerry had scans today. Results are not what we’d Hoped for. Jerry’s cancer began as stage four Sinonasal carcinoma. We beat that (sort of) but they told us it was floating around in his blood stream and could land somewhere. It landed on his thorax. Surgery took care of that. Now it is in both lungs. He has been taking chemo. The spot on one lung remains the same. The spot on the other lung is larger. He has had more chemo and radiation then most can take but they will radiate again.
    … getting a bit weary here…
Asking for the full deal- a complex and miraculous healing. The kids need their daddy. They are only
one and a half and four and a half.

  25. Asking once again for prayers for my four year old grandson. I made a request at the end of Oct. when he was suddenly unable to stand. They ruled AFM and influenza and guessed it was parainfluenza. This child was never sick but over the last several months he cannot go a week without a fever or vomiting or respiratory problems. Praying they get to the bottom of this as he is at urgent care again.
