Abraham's Journey
By Charlie Johnston A dear friend sent me the above picture. I thought it was strikingly insightful. In the late spring, a poor Utah teenage girl, Keziah Daum, was subjected to a hysterical online mob accusing her of “cultural appropriation.” Her crime? She chose to wear a beautiful Chinese-style dress to prom. How sad that […]
Read More Final Pre-Election ThoughtsBy Charlie Johnston The establishment media has a very big decision to make in the next day or two. The most under-reported current story in America is that, nationwide, Republicans are swamping Democrats in early voting. For over a year, the constant narrative in the establishment media and among Democrats is about unprecedented Democrat enthusiasm […]
Read More Weighty Choices at HandBy Charlie Johnston I know a little something about extended hikes, having walked 3,200 miles across much of the country in 2011 and 2012. Some things about this massive caravan coming through Mexico in an effort to invade the US strike me as strange. First off, they seem to be averaging almost 100 miles a […]
Read More Getting Un-Stuck From Stupid – Short TakesBy Charlie Johnston I once had a candidate who was intensely focused on polls. A deeply Hispanic district, it had been held by Democrats for the last 139 years – and the Democrat generally won with 55-60% of the vote. The establishment media chuckled that […]
Read More Real Votes, Fatima, and Other Signs of HopeBy Charlie Johnston I speak occasionally about “first principles,” those fundamental principles which, if you get solidly embedded in your mind, will guide you effectively in just about any circumstance. A corollary in examining an issue would be “first questions,” those questions that get to the heart of a matter with direct simplicity. One of […]
