Hays, Kansas – Our own Sheryl Collmer has a new piece up in Crisis Magazine on what I call the Synod to Nowhere. She and I are clearly on the same page on the subject, though her humor about it is a little kinder and gentler than my own. The “Synodal Church” that some authorities opine affectionately about is clearly not the Catholic Church to which I joyfully belong. Contrary to what these Joan Langley’s think, the Holy Spirit did not come to Rome to negotiate sodomy with them. (You’ll have to read Sheryl’s piece to fully understand that last bit.) More largely, I am not as concerned about the Synod as many orthodox Catholics are because nothing from it will be acted on for a year. By that time, I think it will be moot, just as I think elections will be moot. What most concerns me now is that the head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, Victor Manuel Fernandez, is a South American Bishop who is noted for writing erotica with homosexual overtones and believes that anything Pope Francis says is binding on all the faithful, even if it contradicts all previous Popes, the Magisterium, or even Christ, Himself. That is neither Catholic nor synodal. It would make of the Pope an authoritarian witch doctor rather than the Vicar of Christ. Abp. Fernandez could make a lot of mischief before the inevitable correction comes. But perhaps God will use him to bring the confrontation between orthodox Catholics and the clerical vandals assaulting the faith to a head.

The global outpouring of support for Hamas and Palestine is breathtaking in both its angry malice and utter ignorance. The left uses words like “colonizers, apartheid, genocide, and captivity” completely divorced from their objective meaning. In fact, leftists rarely use – or even understand – the objective meanings of the words they use. They are all just synonyms for things they don’t like, carefully calculated to be put in terms that normies wouldn’t like, either. It is an effort to make you think they are just regular folks like you who are opposed to evil and suffering. The butchery of Hamas on Oct. 7 has created some cognitive dissonance among normal people who know that they would NEVER eagerly celebrate the rape, torture, mutilation and murder of innocents.
Some will object that I have written Hamas and Palestine as if they are synonymous. Leaving aside that the Palestinian Arabs elected Hamas to govern them, I have seen the extensive videos of entire neighborhoods in Palestine coming out to jubilantly celebrate the butchery and take their turns spitting on the battered corpses paraded in the back of savages’ pickup trucks. Who does that? If a group of toughs brought a battered, dead body into your neighborhood, would you consider it an occasion for a jubilant block party and want to get your vicarious licks in on the dead body? I am understanding better why, in the more primitive times of the Old Testament, God sometimes ordered His people to wipe out entire populations that had been besieging them.
The primitive, sub-human savagery of Islamic purists is one thing. How, though, to explain the enthusiasm for such sub-human savagery among college students, Congress Critters, the media and entertainment elites? How long can they sustain the illusion that they are the noble, compassionate ones while cheering on the beheading of babies and the raping of young women on the backs of the corpses of those women’s friends? I am reminded of Mark Twain’s dictum that it is easier to fool someone than convince them that they have been fooled.
We are at the beginning of a new fundamental transformation, a correction to the horrific fundamental transformation that Barack Obama achieved: now all must choose or perish. Whether you choose God or not, the results of your choices now become permanent.

Disorders in society are always bubbling away beneath the surface. The late Sen. Daniel Patrick Moynihan warned three decades ago that, “defining deviancy down” would ultimately leave us awash in deviancy that would threaten the very stability of our nation. Moynihan was a Democrat I much admired. I had him call into my radio show shortly after he penned this essay. That, of course, was before Democrats went crazy with rage and malice.
Ever since the genuinely racist and genuinely elitist administration of Woodrow Wilson, America has been steadily getting more and more deviant and dysfunctional. The large-scale institutionalization of abortion with the Roe v Wade decision in 1973 was when that dysfunction began to metastasize into the cancer that is now destroying us. It was not decisive. At the time it was enacted, many of the gullible could genuinely deceive themselves that the baby in the womb was not human. Planned Parenthood and the other leftist enthusiasts marketed it under the banner that a fetus was just a “blob of tissue,” and not human at all.
I was a fool. I thought the already rising technology of ultrasound imaging would quickly put an end to abortion as it revealed the fullness of the humanity of the unborn child. It did. But we did not step back from the abyss. In 1983, Planned Parenthood sent a message to its affiliates. It acknowledged, ironically, that the “blob of tissue” argument was no longer viable. What it did not do was acknowledge that abortion was a horrible mistake that butchered human beings in an early state of development in the womb. Rather, it encouraged its affiliates to adopt a “woman’s right to choose” as their rallying cry to justify abortion. That was the moment the cancer among us became inoperable.
No one has the “right” to do evil. We all have the capacity, but none has the “right.” To intentionally kill an innocent human being who poses you no threat is evil. There can be no justification for it. Oh, it might make your life easier, just as slavery made the lives of some southern plantation owners – and the southern economy overall – easier. But if you indulge this method of convenience, you have chosen evil. As St. Mother Theresa of Calcutta said, “It is a poverty to decide that a child must die so that you may live as you wish.”
It is more even than this, though. Once abortion is accepted as a “right,” the concept of all men created equally gives way to a simple power equation: those with more power can do as they will to those with less power. It eats away at the founding principles of this nation. Unchecked, it will destroy them. For the first 80 years of the Republic, we were riven by a similar controversy, that of slavery. If it were to be admitted that some men had arbitrary power and “rights” over other innocent men, it revealed our founding principles to be lies that could not be sustained. The issue was finally settled through a great civil war in which we stood by our principles rather than convenience.
There is only one salient question in the matter of abortion: is the unborn child human or is he not? If he is not, there is no moral dispute at all. If he is, then he is equally entitled to the rights of man as the rest of us who are more powerful. All other questions on the matter are just dodges to evade the central question. Antebellum Southern Senators taunted Northern Senators, telling them, “If you don’t like slavery, don’t buy one.” Abortion advocates taunt pro-lifers, saying, “If you don’t like abortion, don’t get one.” Antebellum southerners argued that the only people entitled to have an opinion on slavery were those who had to make the decision: southerners who could own slaves. Abortion advocates argue that the only people entitled to have an opinion on abortion are those who can independently make the decision. Advocates of both decided that human rights were NOT universal if it interfered with their convenience. Issues of fundamental human rights are the province of all mankind.
With the rise of ultrasound technology, science belatedly caught up to and agreed with what faith already knew: a child in the womb is a fully human person in an early stage of development. Though there are a few cranks in both science and religion who pretend otherwise, there is no daylight between credible scientists and orthodox Christians on this subject.
Leftists believe they can make abortion the exception to fundamental human rights without damaging the structure of our foundational principles. They cannot. Once admitted that rights can be suspended for one group’s convenience, when another group wants an exception carved out, there is no philosophically coherent reason to deny them. It also subtly undermines the concept of rights altogether. In natural law, rights are granted by God and are inalienable. Government has no power to suspend them. In fact, the test of legitimacy of any government is how vigorously it defends the rights of man.
I detest the damage abortion has done to our culture primarily in three ways. First, I hate it for the obvious damage it does to the child who is killed. Second, I hate it for how it has deranged our national discourse. Finally, I hate it for the damage it does to the moral sense of the advocate of abortion who must deaden her conscience to justify what she, too, knows is objectively evil.
I well know that governing our sexual behavior is hard. Though celibate for 19 years, I still have moments of profound temptation. But choosing to kill children as a substitute for governing sexual appetite is an offense that cries out for justice. You may think you are aborting a baby, but in the end, you are aborting the very concept of human rights and, ultimately, the society that once protected them.
Last night conservative Ohio voted overwhelmingly to enshrine the “right” to abortion into its state constitution. In 2008 I declined to work with the Republican National Committee on messaging, in part because I feared the ignorant had become the majority in America – governed by appetites rather than coherent principles. In that case we would just have to let events take their course and work to rebuild from the ashes the ignorant would leave behind.
The ashes approach.

Hays, Kansas was once the most violent of western towns. Wild Bill Hickok served briefly as its sheriff after the Civil War before moving on to Deadwood, South Dakota. It is the site of the original Boot Hill Cemetery. More personally, after my Mother died, Hays is where I began the last leg of my pilgrimage, going north on 183 into Nebraska and then west into Colorado. My brother, Steve, dropped me off at the Walmart parking lot to begin my last leg of the journey. I can see the Walmart from my hotel. It brings back some memories.

Always love Sheryl’s writing, and her current piece is filled with excellent insights. VDH is another on whom to rely for insightful commentary. And Scott McKay is spot on. This passage caught my attention: “But for the risk of unnecessarily offending Trump supporters, I would call this the fourth term of the Obama presidency; it’s clearly at least the third, and if you credit the shadow Deep State government that existed to sabotage Donald Trump throughout his four years in the White House, you’re looking at more than 15 years of Obama overtly or covertly existing as the most consequential political figure in America.”
Especially the statement, “There will not be a peaceful transfer of power,” immediately comes to my memory without the least bit of effort. I simply smile and release it to the Lord with these hands of prayer which I am choosing to keep opened wide. When I miss my aim, I just get back up again and open ‘em wide, beginning anew each day to be among those who welcome the Father’s Plan just as He desires and wills it to be, while ever-praying to TNRS that He may make of me ASOH, the better to live the CORAC calling.
Charlie, what an outstanding writing about abortion, especially in the ways you have laid out how “it eats away at the founding principles of this nation.” Brilliant!! And oh so sorrowful.
I’m fully with you on the three reasons why you detest abortion… and I cannot forget the serious damage it does, not only to the advocates of abortion, but also to the women and men who opt for the killing of their children. Mostly, it is such a loooong road through repentance, and healing which ensues. For many, it’s a life of the living dead to repress, often with drugs or alcohol, the act of murdering one’s own child. For many, deep depression, anxiety, etc. must be worked through. Then there’s the physiological damage done to the female body with all its life-altering fallout. I know you fully know these things. It just seems another particular category to detest.

Your whole comment is a great one, Beckita, and of course, your essay, Charlie.
Beckita, you wrote about the “damage done to the female body” which reminded me of something that was news quite a while back. In pro-life circles, it was said there were studies showing a connection between abortion and breast cancer. Of course it’s kept quiet, but seems logical that the physical process of forming a child is interrupted and can have a physical effect on the woman’s body. Obviously it doesn’t apply to all breast cancer. I can understand the panic some of these women or girls feel. It’s just a tragedy all around.

I remember the breast cancer connection as well, Annie. I also know women who could not conceive children after having had several abortions.

Abortion has been the greatest test of our age, and the key to destroying society from the inside-out. All of society’s other evils (rampant promiscuity, pornography, homosexuality, divorce, consumerism, transgenderism, agnosticism/atheism, drug addiction, murder, human trafficking, etc.) are either born out of or made more powerful and commonplace by it. Those who accept abortion and agree with it are, either wittingly or unwittingly, empowering our adversary, satan and his fellow demons, in their war against God and humanity. It is an extension of the fallen angel’s collective rejection of God’s plan to work even now to destroy human life before it has a chance to be born, and to recruit fellow humans to their cause and their own destruction, all as part of their continuing rebellion against the Almighty. Exorcists are universal in their condemnation of abortion and in their connection of it to the forces of Hell and their empowerment over humanity. It is considered a sacrament to satanists and was depicted as such quite well in the recent movie, Nefarious. It is truly sad that we have failed God in such a basic and foundational test of our love for Him and of our ability to exercise our free will for Truth. Unfortunately, we have well-earned the chastisement that is coming.

Great post per usual Charlie!!! I’m so saddened today to be an Ohioan – 😩. I actually naively assumed Ohio would choose life😬
“We are at the beginning of a new fundamental transformation, a correction to the horrific fundamental transformation that Barack Obama achieved: now all must choose or perish. Whether you choose God or not, the results of your choices now become permanent.”
Scary times and I’m most sorry for the little innocent ones who won’t get a chance at this life down here👩🏻🍼 listen to this and watch until the end😥. Seals and Cross got it right back in 1974!!! How about that?!?!?! 🤔

From my study of consciousness (google my name and you will gain access to what I’ve published as open research on the internet), it appears that souls may spend more than one lifetime getting educated (reincarnation for the spirit, not the body). Premature death is a shame, most especially when done from selfish or devilish reasons, but God will provide additional opportunities for life whenever mean or stupid people murder the innocent.
Unfortunately, if the world continues to degenerate, God may wipe the slate clean for a new start.

Charlie, my husband and I were stunned when two of our sons (19 and 29 years old) argued with us about supporting Israel! They agreed that what Hamas did was evil, but “wasn’t Israel just as evil in their own warmongering and why should the U.S. support it anyway?” My older son said that perhaps Muslims were bad people, but he knew just as many Jews who were bad. 😲
Nothing we said could change their attitudes. I felt like I was in a time warp trying to convince my parents that Obama did not have our best interests at heart, while Trump was truly trying to save America from destruction. Their outright anger against Trump was shocking!
That Satanic influence which blocked all rational thoughts was evidenced with my sons. How in the world do you reason with THAT??

Perhaps jewelsworld13 you could lay out WWII history for your sons. Should we have stopped our attacks BEFORE wiping out the NAZI regime? Many, many innocents were caught between the clash. Just the other day Israeli troops led thousands of Palestinians out of Gaza and away from Hamas holding them as human shields. It is helpful to research Hamas’s manifesto. It is shocking. Also when Hamas’s slogan “from the river to the sea”, they mean they want all of what is called Israel and what all the Jews (and Christians) dead. They are infidels as defined by the Koran. Infidels can be put into slavery, beaten and murdered at will (like abortion policy).

My wifes father was the President of Florida Right to Life before he died in 2004. We did many a trip with him to state and national meetings, hearing speakers cover a myriad of problems, both social, physical and spiritual, that have befallen us because if this plague.
Interestingly enough, there was no mention of birth control and how that “slippery slope” was prophecied by Pope Paul Vl to lead to abortion, infanticide and finally euthanasia. That lack of self control for our own gratification led to gratification at any cost. Mother Theresa’s concept of poverty is more moral than financial. But that too is why we are trillions in debt. The 25+ million babies aborted have left a 25 million American citizen deficit in our GDP. That’s 25 million homes, cars, insurance, food, rent, credit cards, etc not being used. Immigration is supposed to offset this, but most send their money back home and since they are not born here, a lot of what they do is not financially helpful over their lifetime to our country.
And as these immigrants become a DNC voting block, these abortion/poverty policies tend to remain in effect .
The final end is a chastisement brought about largely from our own hands.

Take heart, Phillip. I’ve met several Mexican and Central American families in my little ministry (such as it is) whose homes I go into regularly. All are devout practicing Catholics and they ain’t having ANY of the trans/LGTVHD nonsense. Obviously not all who pour across the border are of this persuasion but I have to believe many are.
Anyhoo, just my take fwiw. 🤷♂️

Chris, I wasn’t trying to denigrate immigrants. It’s the statistics of the missing citizens. Of course immigrants can be very productive but the proper order of things is from crib to grave.
It’s a mystical reality.
Of course, God can bring goodness out of a rock (Matt 3:9) but when a nation kills its citizens that order is out of sink and no amount of “fudging” can make it right again.

I heard this morning that a number of local races in the election yesterday went from blue to red, but that wherever Republicans let the election be focused on abortion, the candidate favoring abortion won. Alas.
I don’t know how general these two results were overall, of course. The stories I heard were just local in a few previously blue places. The grassroots Republicans appear to be rising in their effects, from the ground up. However, the remains of the national Republican Party (RINOs) mounted little to no efforts and allowed the statewide issues and candidates related to abortion in particular to go pretty much unopposed.
Charlie, you’ve said we are in Armageddon and that choosing is now a powerful act that will be increasingly hard to reverse. I hope there is some kind of Event where at least some of those who are continuing to support abortion can turn back.

SteveBC, I just read the same thing. I was just at the gas station this past weekend where gas prices have fallen around election time. I said to the fellow next to me, “They must think we are all really stupid. Falling gas prices before election time.” He replied, “The American voting public is stupid.” I told him that I did not think we could survive another year of this puppet prez. He said that he could not believe that they would run him again. My answer, “They must know they have control of the polls.”……Everything goes from bad to worse as I read the news. It is all speeding up and the USA appears to be reaching the breaking point. B.O. hates the US, but what he wants as a replacement is tyranny and that has never worked anywhere for any race, faith, or person except (temporarily) for the tyrant. Eventually the tyrants meet their demise from others who would seek the same power. …..Could he want to realize the old fight between Christians and Muslims.? There is no real evidence that he practices that faith. What drives him? Anti-Christian and Jewish stance? reverse racisim? All of the above? What really does he want to achieve? power?

First the baby in development is inconvenient (fetus means baby in Latin ), then the elderly, then special needs folks, and anti-everything that does not meet the current power groups’s agenda. They want complete submission to what I can only describe as Gaia worship. (Yes, I know that Islam means ‘submission’, but that is not the goal, just a tool, like everything else) Complete submission to every new .trend as a good. (never mind the long term consequences ) Newsome just went to China and he seems to think tracking people is a great idea. From cradle to however far he wants to take it (though he is saying throughout the career) Do Americans really believe that the great majority of national politicians care about anyone but themselves? Power, pleasure, self-gratification on every level. Joe is the most obvious. He and his family got a lot, but he gave away much more. Betrayal from the highest office. It seems impossible that this could happen in the US. and that it could be accepted and not strongly rejected at the voting booth. It certainly has been planned and in the works for a long time. At the core of it all, the nation has let go of God”s hand and have averted our eyes from his gaze because the majority reject the idea of sin; that is, that anything the consider pleasant could possibly offend God…..I think I keep saying much the same thing over and over again but with somewhat different words. However, I think that shock does that to a person.

I was fortunate to find an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe in a a bric a brac type local shop signed by by Abbot of the Basilica of our Lady of Guadalupe, Guillermo Schulenberg in 1978. I did a little research and was surprised to find that Guillermo Schulenberg Prado was quoted as saying that Juan Diego was “a symbol, not a reality,” and that his canonization would be the “recognition of a cult. It is not recognition of the physical, real existence of a person.” He was promptly removed after an outcry from local Bishops. Pope John Paul II canonized Juan Diego. Later Schulenberg said that he was misquoted. However, he was removed so who knows? I am sure there was an investigation …. I also found what looked like a chalice that may have been used in a Church so I grabbed it because I thought that, if it was once used as a chalice, it should not be purchased by some dark cult. There was a lot of faith type memorabilia in that shop. I has since closed and I wonder what happened to all of it. There were some very beautiful items.
During this recent August celebration of the Assumption, the priest of our local parish was amazed that the church was filled on a Tuesday. The Blessed Mother is very much loved in my local region. However, I think the church was filled with middle aged to older folks.

Unfortunately, Ohio is not as conservative as people imagine it to be. When you combine the lies and misinformation spread about the amendment with a willing media I doubt that most states would have rejected it. Even the pro-abortion crowd had no idea what was in the language. A pro-life worker came to our door and described how she explained the amendment language to a couple. They were shocked, “We can’t vote for this.” Another friend, after my wife explained it to her, still couldn’t see the ramifications. In the end she didn’t vote at all. This is where our culture is. Our Lord is exposing the rot to us. All of the laws we pass are meaningless until hearts change. Pray that God will do this.

A post from Steve @ MILINET: “In Ohio, Democrats made sure to run legalizing pot at the same time as legalizing conception-to-birth abortion. The turnout for one carried the other. Also, look at the results statewide. As usual, the metro areas completely overwhelmed the 80% rural rest of the state.
In Kentucky, and I speak as someone who was born and grew up there, Kentuckians like their free stuff. White welfare recipients have outnumbered blacks on welfare since I left for the military in the 70’s. They weren’t going to throw away a good thing. I was back there in early October and the few conservatives I came across weren’t feeling particularly jazzed about the election, but the liberals knew what they wanted….for nothing to change. Also, you’ll find Louisville, Lexington and Frankfort went heavy for Beshear; same effect as in Ohio. Finally on Kentucky elections, in the 70’s I watched a family friend handing out bottles of whisky (from a truck bed loaded to the rails with cases upon cases) outside a voting booth to get people to pull the straight-democrat-lever. I’m quite certain that hasn’t changed much, if at all.”

Choose or perish…
With the fall of Roe in 2022 (on the Feast of the Sacred Heart!!!), I sense God is allowing the people of our nation to declare themselves. No longer can anyone hide behind the errored decision made by 5 individuals in 1973. Ohio is the latest state to allow its populace to choose the death sentence for the most vulnerable. In 2022, Kansas had the same opportunity, and the people chose death with a wide margin. Now all of the laws passed to protect the unborn and restrict abortion have now repealed as they are deemed ‘unconstitutional’. May God have mercy on us, and may those who have chosen death be converted.

Amen to God’s Mercy and conversion for us all, Kate.
Guess where one of the feminists (story here), Judy Smith (who studied at UT in Austin in the early 70’s and who helped launch the effort to get Roe v Wade to the Supreme Court), moved after completing her studies? Right here to Missoula where she stirred up anti-God feminist troubles via various organizations (another story here), including establishing the local abortion mill, Blue Mountain Clinic – the abortion capital of Montana. I have often sensed darkness overshadowing this city. We were the first in the nation to pass a bathroom law allowing all limitless numbers of false genders to use the same facilities. A claim to shame rather than fame.
SO much reparation has been offered over the years and SO much more is needed. I don’t go chasing suffering, but I welcome an effusion of God’s purifying grace. How we need this Storm, hopefully and prayerfully bringing about repentance. (Purify our hearts, O Lord, as only You can do.)

Bishop Strickland seems of a mind to keep ready for his next right steps, Katey. He and the faithful of the Diocese of Tyler will, hopefully, do as we all must continue doing: carry on while heeding Our Lady’s advice: “Do whatever He tells you.”
Oh we will lament. There is an entire Book of Lamentations in the Bible!! Yet, may we not get stuck there. I l.o.v.e. the ways Charlie has been honing good mindset within us all. Counsel such as:
*Gird your loins.
*These things must come.
*TNRS and ASOH
*Do the little you can before you.
*Make friends with those around you.
*We have a lot of wood to chop.
*Pray and act in solidarity.
It is so easy to dwell on what the enemy is doing rather than at how God is at work. The satan will not have the last word here. Sooner, rather than later, the tables will be turned on the enemies within the Church and I think the overturning of the tables in the Temple will look like a cake walk compared to what today’s unfaithful prelates and priests will face:
“Mine eyes have seen the glory
of the coming of the Lord;
he is trampling out the vintage
where the grapes of wrath are stored; he hath loosed the fateful lightning of his terrible swift sword; his truth is marching on.”
I certainly would not want to meet Christ with his terrible swift sword ready to put an end to the lies, rebellion, corruption, killing & harming of the innocents, etc.
Truly, I see that Bishop Strickland has the mindset to embrace this suffering. I can only imagine how glorious the fruit of it shall be.
I’m still head shaking at the lack of guts on the part of Bishop DiNardo and additional brother Bishops. To put one’s name on an announcement declaring the justification of such injustice is a mark of shame.

Charlie I read you on X and here. I have read of your past involvement in political campaigns. Something has most definitely changed. Found this article by Victor Davis Hansen called Silicon Valley’s moral bankruptcy.
https://newcriterion.com/issues/2023/5/silicon-valleys-moral-bankruptcy
It’s a really long read but exposes the web, money & goal at work. Elon Musk was supposed to play along until he didn’t. I’ve wondered about the change of the Twitter name to X until you become aware of his sense of humor. An X implies an X as in a target on your back!
This article is an enlightenment to all that’s in play. Take the time to read it. It’s worth it.

This article described stuff so evil – and so successful – that I could not finish reading it. It was making me too sick and angry!
Come, Lord Jesus! Please come soon.

JOANNE1950, I just read the article that you cited by Victor Davis Hansen. It was really eye-opening. Also, very, very long! It is an intricate web. Tech is strangling us in every way and China is right there with them. Thanks for sharing.

With the rapid succession of insane things going on in the world (and our Catholic Church)… I can’t help but think what a powerful intercessor/ suffering servant Pope Benedict XVI was during his lifetime. Things are accelerating now…
Check out ‘End of the Present world’ written 150 years ago. St Therese read it, and immediately following, made the decision to join the Carmelites. The author speaks that what we are experiencing now- this must happen in order to bring in the renewal of the world.

The below article highlights the “time of the common man” Charlie highlights.
When St Francis was called by God to “rebuild my church that has fallen into ruin”
this period had a corrupt eclisia similar to Israel’s leaders at the time of Christ and the church’s leaders now. (Pope Benedict complained of the wolves in the Vatican.) Declaring his time as Pope to imitate St Francis (who imitated the poverty of Jesus) by taking the name Francis) Pope Francis’ pontificate will cause a slow but steady rise of the “common man” witnessed by those two previous periods. It was the “making a mess” periods in the church, where God hoed the field of faith which exposed the wolves but also brought about great renewal through the laity.
“My thesis, then, is a simple one: Pope Francis, in his very failure, is providing the Providential kick in the pants which is awakening more and more people at all levels to take active responsibility for their own local churches—and therefore, from the ground up, for the universal Church. Under John Paul II and Benedict, a top-down impetus became very evident. But through Francis, God has demonstrated that a top-down Church is never enough, and has Providentially triggered a resurgence from below.”

I think it is all going to turn around. Why would any leftist want to be a priest in this environment when the ambiguity and confusion makes the church look no different from the secular culture? I think this is one reason why the vow of chastity of priests is more important than ever. I think it is leading to more genuine orthodox vocations. In other words, I think the priests entering the seminaries most likely have a genuin calling. I think this article shows this. This gives me great hope!https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/255935/major-survey-finds-conservative-and-orthodox-priests-on-the-rise-varying-levels-of-trust-in-bishops—- Sent from Doug’s Back Pack
