Huntsville, Alabama – If you have been paying attention to the news the last week you know that Atlanta has blown, Memphis is getting ready to blow, and another mass public shooting happened at a dance studio in Monterey Park, a suburb of Los Angeles. While describing all Antifa and BLM-led burning, looting, rape and murder sessions as “mostly peaceful,” the media continues in its forlorn quest for its great white whale – a MAGA perpetrator of such an atrocity. Pity for them: it is always a leftist loon or an ignored mental patient (they are rapidly becoming the same thing – only the leftists are mouthier and, occasionally, twitchier).

Every time the left offers the same prescription: ban guns. Let’s see, the left’s plan for addressing the rising tide of violence in America is, A) release violent criminals on to the streets almost immediately after they are arrested to commit more mayhem, B) ignore all actual signs and overt warnings of potentially violent or terroristic behavior so as not to offend anyone, C) disarm potential victims so they have no chance of fighting back, D) defund the police so there is little or no help to be had there – and on the rare occasion when there is make sure it is too late. Yeah, it is as thoughtfully and carefully constructed as the rest of the left’s “plans.”

Alas, we will have many more mass shootings before the year is out. It is not because of the availability of guns. Shoot, almost everyone in Switzerland is armed and it is a very polite society. Rather, it is a symptom of the terrible spiritual battle we are in. For several generations we have taught that life is cheap. Why, then, should we be surprised that people on the margins treat it so cheaply? Can the surviving children of pro-abortion parents believe that they are loved for their very selves? They know that they are merely random survivors of the brutal gauntlet the womb has become. What room is there for individuality when the government-media complex tells you precisely what you can and cannot do and believe? When you need not care for yourself; just leave it to the government – but it comes at the price of any sense of transcendent meaning. The multitude of woke minions among us are shrouded by deep despair; the quiet desperation that once marked the aborted generations has erupted into screaming desperation. They are so frantically miserable and so frantically determined to blame anyone who is not miserable for the anguish that rips and claws them like a famished wolf. We have spent several generations making our culture into the paradigm of a dystopian novel – and now the piper comes to collect his due.

The left will probably get their dream of a right-wing shooter before the year is out. They desperately need it as justification to crack down on everyone and take full authoritarian control of society. Though mental instability is common among the left, I know that it chews at some in our own ranks at the margins. They will get their man. Their shock will come when, if that mentally unstable person confines himself to shooting at our tormenters – government toadies, the media, public health authorities and such – few people will much care. They will not rise in righteous anger to crown our aspiring leftist overseers into absolute power. Why would we reward those who have brought us to this pass with consummate power? We, a once proud and free people, have been badgered, bullied, harassed and coerced too long and too hard to react with anything but relief when our tormenters are tormented and the beatings are paused for even just a short time.

We don’t say it too loudly, but we have noticed that England disarmed their populace for safety – and now British police cannot be bothered with hundreds and thousands of young girls being sex-trafficked by mostly Muslim grooming gangs – because they are too busy arresting people for dissenting posts on social media and praying silently in the vicinity of an abortion clinic. We have noticed that the formerly free countries of Canada, Australia and New Zealand, after being disarmed, are now authoritarian states where no one is safe – and the government, itself, is the predominant violent criminal enterprise.

Leftists have always been overly enamored of titles and credentials. They figure that if they manage to land one or both (MUCH easier than taking the time and effort to develop actual competence or skill) everyone must do what they say, even when their commands bring disaster at every turn. It is unfortunate for all of us that they have so little actual knowledge of history and what sustained bullying incompetence brings (though that ignorance is what sustains their malevolent dream of imperious rule). What bullying incompetence brings is not absolute authority, but the breakdown of authority altogether when the backlash from the bullied begins in earnest.

Winston Churchill once cheekily observed that Americans always do the right thing – but only after trying everything else first. We have tried just about everything else – and the ruling class has interpreted Americans’ restraint as timidity. Everywhere I go in the country, people tell me about the preparations they have made for when things fall apart. Yes, it happens at meetings, but it is also happening to people I just bump into in stores and coffee shops. People are not preparing to knuckle under: they are preparing to go into siege. The flashy things that happen now; the shootings, the lawlessness, the revelations of vast corruption, are the tremors preceding a great convulsion in the body politic. That could take the form of an ugly and brutal civil war. From the beginning, I conceived CORAC as a primary means for a better, gentler way of renewal.

First, a look at how I think the year is likely to play out. The chaos will ramp up as federal impotence does the same. Oh the feds will posture and strut, trying to make themselves seem big and bad, but every dying institution tries to make itself look biggest in its death throes, replacing calm competence with shrieking commands as it perishes. The chaos will be widespread and growing, but I do not think this is the year when it all comes apart. That, I think, is reserved for early 2024 as a consequence of this year’s chaos (but keep in mind that timing is the weakest link in my history of following social trends to their logical end). As the feds continue offensive overreach to try to cement their power, there will be more than a few violent skirmishes.

Before the summer is out, everyone will be shocked when Ukraine is so utterly gutted that it may cease to exist on the map for a time. (For my Ukranian friends, be not dismayed: it will only be for a time. The truth is that Russia does not want the problems that would come from ruling Ukraine, other than those parts, such as Crimea and the Donbass, that have been historically Russian in the first place). The shock will come as everyone realizes that the confident assurances that Ukraine is winning have been a pack of lies, borne of wishful establishment thinking rather than hard analysis. The world will erupt into wars almost everywhere. Europe has castrated itself. It is no longer capable of sustained self-defense against threats from without or from within. China will likely invade Taiwan in a desperate effort to forestall the growing discontent within its existing borders and the likely collapse of its economy. Russia will devote itself to breaking up NATO, which resolutely refused to build a new paradigm based on the substantially changed circumstances from the end of the cold war – and insisted on menacing Russia and surrounding it. In the end, Russia will not need to expend much effort as NATO is busily immolating itself from within. Sub-Saharan Africa and South America will not get safer but will, by comparison to the rest of the world aflame, become some of the safest spots on the globe.

Naturally, with this global bedlam, combined with national chaos, many will fear invasion of the United States. There is little to be concerned about there. The aspiring tyrants around the globe do not want to contend with an America that is heavily armed in every rural outpost: they just want America out of the fight. Our leftist overlords have already degraded our military might enough that it is doubtful America’s intervention anywhere would be decisive. Thanks to Obama, Biden and company, hostile powers can already say, “mission accomplished,” on that score.

Meantime, states around the country are already conducting dress rehearsals for either implicit or explicit independence from the federal government – and in some cases, their own ruling cliques. In deep blue Illinois, 80 of the 102 county sheriffs in the state have vowed they will NOT enforce the state’s recently adopted gun ban – and that vow was before a state judge issued a restraining order against its enforcement. Florida routinely refuses to enforce crackpot federal initiatives. The founders original federalism may prove a bulwark against the worst sort of violence that afflicts a society as it unravels. This will not prevent deep blue states from collapsing from their own internal contradictions along with the federal government, but it will give safe haven for many Americans.

CORAC was designed not to treat the federal government as the enemy, but as the irrelevancy it is making of itself. The primary idea was to give people the means and tools to work with each other and thrive in good times and in bad. The feds think people must do what they say. They don’t realize people will find other organizing principles when the necessity arises and the need is clear. The feds think they can force everyone into a government digital currency so they can more minutely control them. They don’t realize that people, under duress, will find methods to exchange value that do not involve the government. Shoot, for the last decade of the old Soviet Union, the black market was the second biggest sector of its economy. If you give good, competent counsel you gain a lot of influence. If you try to control everyone’s lives, you end by losing any influence at all.

We have been trying to fix a system that is irrevocably broken for a very long time. We have terrible challenges ahead but, paradoxically, as more and more people opt out of the existing system they are going to find, even amidst the convulsions, that things can actually work for the good of all. There will be joy. The reality is that, even as the government-media complex constantly spews hate and division, most people in America are decent folks who want to get along with each other.

The mounting dysfunctions that are upon us are mere tremors before the great quake. Most tremble before the destruction involved. Yes, there is destruction – but it is of an old order that has ceased to work for its citizens because it is too busy trying to rule them. Godless people need to find some meaning in their lives, I suppose. But they are looking for love in all the wrong places. What I see before me are the birthing pangs of a newly invigorated healthy and glorious culture under God. And oh, what a joy to be alive and active as God renews the face and faith of the world! While reading this, I thought of an image of all of us flying in a plane with Charlie as pilot announcing over the loudspeaker, “major turbulence ahead”; with Beckita as main flight attendant telling us to ‘set our face like flint and gird our loins’, as she tries to calm us by handing out peanuts to all the semi-peaceful squirrels on board. 🥜🐿️😉

In 1951, Eric Hoffer, self-educated dock worker, published a brilliant analysis of mass movements (Right or Left) which he reasoned were powered by individual’s frustrated with their lives, and seeking to shield their self-hatred by joining a mass movement of pretended great importance. The wiki provides a good summary of his analysis:

    ” Hoffer argues that fanatical and extremist cultural movements, whether religious, social, or national, arise when large numbers of frustrated people, believing their own individual lives to be worthless or spoiled, join a movement demanding radical change. But the real attraction for this population is an escape from the self, not a realization of individual hopes: “A mass movement attracts and holds a following not because it can satisfy the desire for self-advancement, but because it can satisfy the passion for self-renunciation.” ”

    Charlie, your assessment here describes a new cause for joining in at the opposite end of the spectrum from what Hoffer had seen– a mass of dulled, dispirited souls:

  7. I’m glad you said we would not have to worry about war on our shores. I do hope you are right. You said differently before. My memory says we will be in a war here, with China and that we will not prevail – maybe until we ally ourselves with Russia. I have told many folks this. I hope this has changed because of our prayers – but looking around, I can’t see it.

    Meanwhile, after that barn has burned, Texas is trying, just now, finally, to prevent China nationals, (or the CCP, or nationals as a cover for CCP,) from buying MUCH land in Texas.

    1. Nance, Charlie has said that we would face a “confrontation between the Judeo-Christian world and the current government of China” over which we would not prevail. However, to my memory, he has never said we would have Chinese troops on American soil. I do know that the mindset of the Chinese, revealed throughout the ages of her existence, in such that she is not a country which invades foreign countries with military weapons. (Keep in mind that China believes Taiwan is, in fact, Chinese soil.) That said, the Chinese have metaphorically invaded our country, and many countries, by means other than the use of military weapons, such as the Confucius Institutes in American universities and – as you note – by purchasing property in the US. Charlie surely HAS named the alliance between Russia and the U.S. which will lead the Judeo-Christian world to confront China.

      I’ve noticed South Dakota has also declared that the Chinese are not allowed to purchase land in their state.

      1. In speaking of these things with Fr. Wang today, he noted that Chinese troops HAVE gone into foreign lands in Asia (the Korean War, the Vietnam War). But there have been no long overseas campaigns which she has undertaken.

      2. There’s really no way to know if we will have a war on our shore. Strategically it’s very hard for a country like China to capture and physically keep US territory, and the same applies for us in China. That’s why a land war here is not highly likely in my opinion. Nuclear wars are of course different. There are easier ways to capture a country. For example, Trudeau is handing Canada over to the WEF crowd without a single foreign boot on Canadian soil.

    2. Nance, you must have misunderstood for I have NEVER said China would invade, even when all I wrote was entirely private with my Priests. People worry about that all the time. I have not changed my tune on that, but people’s understanding of what I have said on it has matured.

      2. Nance’s thought to what you said before is similar to and may be construed with what Our Lady of Fatima said that: “Russia will spread her errors”. Gorbachev said we would be “taken over from within”, which is a covert “war” and we see this absorption actively playing out right before our eyes, but now on a world-wide scale! Now that China and others live by these “errors” and the globalist desire to implement them on everyone, that prophecy seems to be coming true.
        But it is the follow-up prophecy that we should now be looking too:
        “In the end, my immaculate heart will triumph and a period of peace will be given to the world”.
        And Charlie feels this period is very near.

      3. There is another ‘seer’ who have said they have been shown the possiblity of Chinese troops on American soil. I read one years ago. Charlie has never said this.

    4. There’s no way to really know if there will or will not be war on our shores. From a strategic standpoint it would be very difficult to impossible for a foreign country to capture and keep US territory, and they know this. The same would apply to us trying to capture and keep Chinese territory. There are other, better ways to defeat a country. What seems more likely is US leadership purposely ceding power to an international body. Isn’t that essentially what Trudeau has done with Canada? You don’t need troops on the ground if your leader surrenders to the WEF crowd willingly.

    2. St. Francis de Sales is so wise! I read his books years ago as a young bride, but this quote is an excellent reason to revisit his work. Maybe a good criteria to deciding if THIS is the next right step, would be to twist these six words just a bit. IS this the way to Heaven?

To your point about faith-filled people, I have pondered – in these days of lies and manipulation – how the ways of sin darken the intellect and I wonder not only about moral decision-making per se, but also how a life immersed in sin may cause darkness in additional areas of decision-making.         2. Thanks, Lisa, and thanks for the very good work you do in so many ways. This is good information and I know you vet carefully. Fortunately for me, I only get health care from homeopaths or a doctor I completely trust privately. There is no longer an obvious medical paper trail on me. If the medical profession had not so cavalierly betrayed our trust, such things would not be necessary, but here we are.

        3. Gosh Lisa . . . I usually refrain from sharing a comment because I always have too many thoughts about a topic and no ability to be concise (except for an occasional “Thank you Charlie”). However, I feel compelled to reply here.

          Firstly, a question: Is your finding in regard to faith-filled people based on your personal, anecdotal experience? I am asking because I agreed with your statement immediately upon reading it, but then became skeptical after pondering on it a few minutes. The reasons for my skepticism are too many to mention (trying to be concise). I am sure my faith and trust in God contributed to MY reluctance in accepting the narratives that were promulgated, and definitely fortified the mindset I had about the scamdemic (and everything covid related). I believe I recognized the scam for what it is very early on (January or February of 2020) because it just seemed so obvious to me and not so much to do with my faith in God.

          Secondly, the “evidence” revealed in this blog is real and just another item in the seemingly endless list of evil deeds perpetrated by various entities within and without the U.S. government and paid for with our tax revenue.

          I read a book, “Pawns in the Game”, by a retired admiral (Poindexter, I believe) when I was about 15. It was a quick education on world politics, the federal reserve, illuminati, etc. That was in 1970. I have seen so much during the ensuing 50+ years that has followed with all I read in that book. We have all witnessed the acceleration of evil deeds and the blatancy of it all in the last several years.

          It has become increasingly obvious to me that no amount of this evil “broadcast far and wide” will alter the inevitable failure and total collapse of society as we know it. Without intervention brought on by the mechanisms of “devolution” (if it is real), I am sure we are facing everything Charlie has been helping to prepare us for. The best part will be the renewal Charlie speaks of.

          I hope I will be ready.

I do so much reading and research and have seen overwhelmingly that doctors, and other “truth tellers” of this period, are believers in God, and often Christian. They will refer to this belief in what they say in print or video.

            Jesus claimed to be “the Light of the world” and “Truth” itself. He also claimed to testify to truth and that only they that side with it hear His voice: “…for this I have come into the world, that I may bear witness to the truth. Everyone being of the truth hears My voice.” (John 18:37).
            If this is so and a person of faith with the gifts of the Holy Spirit of Wisdom, Knowledge and Understanding read things that are true, they more accurately see this for this is a reflection of He Who is Truth and through whom “all thing were made”. Judging Righteous Judgment is more than just a spiritual exercise. If they that “prefer darkness to the light” wander blindly, it stands to reason that we who prefer the light do the opposite and live that Abundant Life promised by God and have those spiritual gifts we need to help sustain us.

      1. Been watching these developments, too, Pawel. Obviously, as new revelations emerge, we see that people are continuing to reveal their hearts to God. I also find myself guarding my own heart that the seeds of bitterness not find a place within. As for the current pope, I am wondering whether there was any pope in the history of papacy doctrinally so bad for the Catholic Church/deposit of faith as Pope Francis unfortunately seems to be.

          1. So true, Pawel, about finding a balance in these times of such unsettling and disturbing news. We can’t stick our heads in the ground; being a Pollyanna won’t work, but neither will awfulizing the atmosphere of dialogue. It’s simply a mighty temptation to be angry and bitter in these days, so I acknowledge this for me as much as for any one of us. For me, this brings to mind Charlie’s observation, in his writing and speaking, that we can find beau coup people and events about which to be outraged, yet, we are here at ASOH and CORAC to dwell on ways we can build each other up as well as encourage one another in the face of the messes which make up the chaos around us, both in the world and the Church.

            I do know we have had mighty rough spots in the Church with Popes who were disastrous and caused great harm, but it would take a widely read historian to more accurately answer your specific question. And even then, it would likely be more of an opinion based on facts. I’ll bet those who were living in the days of rotten Popes in the past thought it was nearly unbearable so it had to be the worst ever for them. I agree with those who have posited that PF’s presence has drawn out those bad actors in the hierarchy who had been operating underground to the great detriment of the Church. I pity them and, like those of us who love the Church and embrace Christ’s teachings – even though imperfectly, for we all need this purification, I pray for the conversion of these enemies of the Church.

            Perhaps, one measure to use in considering if PF has been the worst in protecting doctrine would be the famous words of, then, Cardinal Wojtyla who addressed an Eucharistic Conference being held in Philadelphia: “We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has ever experienced. I do not think that the wide circle of the American society, or the whole wide circle of the Christian community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-church, between the Gospel and the anti-Gospel, between Christ and the Antichrist. The confrontation lies within the plans of Divine Providence. It is, therefore, in God’s plan, and it must be a trial which the Church must take up, and face courageously.” The description, “the greatest historical conference humanity has ever experienced,” bespeaks the magnitude of what we are living.

            2. The magnitude of what we are living can be paralyzing if we take on too many issues. Three steps to coping and effective problem solving, because we’re either going to be a part of the problem or a part of the solution:

              1. Acknowledge God. (Can’t do a thing without Him.)
              2. Take the Next Right Step. (Confront that one issue right in front of your face whether you’re passionate about it or not.)
              3. Be a sign of hope to those around you. (No qualifying statement needed.)

              I think about Jesus summing up the Law in a couple of lines and the imperative to keep it simple in these times.

    2. If I may be so bold, in the interview that I read, Pope Francis stated that homosexuality should not be a crime, but that it is a sin. Since it is his duty to speak on faith and morals and not necessarily on the civil law, it seems stating that “it is a sin” would be within his jurisdiction.
      Please correct me if I have misunderstood.

      1. Katey, the author of the article did not quote Pope Francis as saying homosexual acts are a sin. The “issue” about which PF is objecting is laws which make homosexual acts a crime. Here’s that passage: “Francis acknowledged that Catholic bishops in some parts of the world support laws that criminalize homosexuality or discriminate against LGBTQ people, and he himself referred to the issue in terms of “sin.” But he attributed such attitudes to cultural backgrounds, and said bishops in particular need to undergo a process of change to recognize the dignity of everyone.” Of course, the constant teaching is that we need to treat each person with dignity, but PF makes a much bigger deal out of changing the Bishops than he does out of reaching out to LGBTQ people to help them live chastity.

Fine, but first let’s distinguish between a sin and a crime.” I do, however, maintain that Pope Francis’ words and his actual deeds are often incongruous. And how about his expression: “It’s not a crime. Yes, but it’s a sin. Fine…” Fine? Where is the truth in charity message for those who are struggling with disordered sexual sin? Where is the papal support for effective programs and/or processes which bring hope and healing to these people in the Church?

I’ll preface the link with the standard disclaimer that private revelations are devilishly hard to interpret and no one is obligated to believe them. Anyway, here’s the link:

      Is Francis’s trip to Moscow the tripwire for conflict in Europe and, more ominously, the Warning? I’ll leave that for readers’ prayerful meditation (or complete dismissal, as the case may be).

      Come what may, I have always admired Garabandal’s humble message, which seems to dovetail nicely with Taking the Next Right Step.

I did see it, Meriadoc, but I’ve got my eye much more focused on what God is actually doing rather than any prophetic interpretation that’s being promoted in so many places on nearly every prophetic utterance. I do believe in Garabandal and have actually been on pilgrimage there. I think it’ll be interesting to see how everything actually unfolds. God bless.

        1. Beckita, while I agree that it is most important just to live the messages of the apparition sites, I wonder if you could answer a question for me, since you’ve been to Garabandal?

          It has always drawn me (the seers, the message, the time-frame), so I have known about it for a long time, but when I asked our Spanish priest if he had been there, he looked very confused and said he’d never heard of it! Is Garabandal more popular in the US than Spain? Is it because it was denied as supernatural by the “local” clergy (though it has never been denounced by the Church)?

          1. Without actual statistics as to how many in the US and Spain have heard of Garabandal, it’s hard to say whether or not Garbandal is more well known in either country, Jewel. I keep in mind, too, that I move and work within circles with many people who are interested in messages from Heaven. Out in the wider world of Catholics, I doubt very many have knowledge of Our Lady’s appearances in our times. Every time we go through a pastor change, I discover that the “new priest” is not aware of the content of messages even in most Church-approved apparitions.

I have noticed that, unfortunately, most of our prelates have been uber cautious about prophetic words to the detriment of choosing to dig deep and seek truth, thereby, leaving the lay faithful on their own to discern. For every prophetic word followed, there seems to be a plentitude of interpretations for those messages shared. Very, very often, such commentary is mere speculation, albeit often done with good intent. I’m singing to the choir, but I’ll say again how grateful I am for what God has been doing, and continues to do, in Charlie Johnston’s writing and works. I know we’re a community of praying folks, and it is a good and fitting choice to keep Charlie in prayer as he makes his way around the country. (Passion of Christ, strengthen our Sherpa as he discerns and then accomplishes all you call him to do… and extend the fruits of Your Passion to Your people and the works of CORAC.)

  19. Thank you, Linda, I had not seen the new message today. Our Lady minces no words and seems to be much more specific these days. I found some of her previous messages to be much more generalized. Oh boy, I just keep praying for direction.
    In my prayer time this morning, I was again reflecting on how different my life is, being consecrated to the BVM. The Lord has shown me loads of times what Mama has done in my life, beginning in my childhood. My belief, having read De Montfort and Kolbe, is that the Holy Spirit, “spouse” of Mother Mary, is so powerfully present when He and She work together in our lives. Their guidance is miraculous. I tell Mama that I wish the whole world loved her and knew how wonderful She is!

        The church near there, Blessed Sacrament, is where I made all my sacraments and also where I attended grade school. That would be interesting if Charlie goes to Mass there. The churches in town are prettier though.

    And what Charlie says about Switzerland is true (“almost everyone in Switzerland is armed and it is a very polite society”) and I can attest that, as I’ve walked there. Secondly, of course, the leftists wouldn’t want to upset it too much, as it’s where they have their filthy lucre (or a substantial part of it) stored. One needs stability for these essential things, after all, and a retreat from all those tiresome little people – whom one just loves in socialist hugginess, of course, but whom one wouldn’t want at one’s party where all the nice people go. I mean, really, darling…

    On a more serious note, Switzerland is probably the oldest example of an actually functioning federal government, and they take that very seriously. Their international recognition symbol for cars etc. is “C.H.” – “Confederatio Helvetica”, the Swiss Confederation. That actually still means something.

    I must go back – the pilgrimage route over the Alps via the St. Bernard Pass (they still breed the dogs there, you can visit) is actually easy enough, and so beautiful.

  49. A big challenge for me is to look beyond the physical/worldly aspect of things. When I hear “safety” I think of not getting hurt in a car accident or being mugged or physically trapped, but isn’t “safety” really recognizing and not falling victim to spiritual traps? Am I just concerned about the functionality of our systems because I’m afraid of losing comfort? Every doomsday scenario that you hear from worldly perspective (corruption, failure of systems, financial meltdowns) is only “doomsday” for the West. It’s daily life in a large part of the world. Some have never had anything but this scenario.

    What is happening in the church hierarchy is a shame and ultimately will have a worse effect than the physical manifestations of “doomsday scenarios.” Many Church leaders are sorry men who have no understanding of what the Church really is, and even less faith. Secular progressives are a very predictable sort. They are certainly not very good at spotting irony, or they would wonder how attacking “clericalism” by acting like clerical dictators actually works. Or understand how old white men imposing western woke conceptions of “diversity and anti-racism” on African clergy who don’t want it is just a new form of colonialism. German politicians and prelates seem to be blind to the fact that a disproportionate number of terrible philosophical ideas of the last 500 years have come from Germany, because they continue to try to lecture the EU and world and church how to think despite having been wrong time after time. Progressives in the church and politics say Unity but 100% of the time it means everyone else agree with them. Shoddy church leadership adds in the movement of the Holy Spirit, but not surprisingly the Holy Spirit also always agrees with them. It’s transparently ridiculous, much like “synod on synodality” that seems to be taking on the dumbest aspects of Church and bureaucratic State and combine them together to make up a larger and more egregious form of idiocy.

    Evil comes in the forms of knowing malice, weakness or just complete foolishness and philosophical idiocy. I think our poorer leaders fit into one or more of these camps, but Satan can make use of any of them. The ultimate goal for him I think is to cut off the world from the Sacraments. While poor Church leaders are worrying about how to become more inclusive, Satan plots to cut the flock off from the Sacraments. A very large, rich and mostly Sacrament-free church seems to be something Satan and the more traitorous church leaders can agree is a worthy goal. Seems obvious then that our real goal should be the opposite.

Charlie Johnston is a former newspaper editor, radio talk show host and political consultant. From Feb. 11, 2011 to Aug. 21, 2012, he walked 3,200 miles across the country, sleeping in the woods, meeting people and praying as he went. He writes on cultural, global and political issues from an orthodox Catholic perspective. He emphasizes that we find God most surely through the ordinary, doing the little things we should with faith and fidelity. His constant refrain is that, to live real joy, we must acknowledge God, take the next right step, and be a sign of hope to those around us. He lives in the Archdiocese of Denver in the United States.
