The last week and a half have been eventful. The death of my father on Nov. 12 was not entirely unexpected, but it threw many things into both an emotional and a nostalgic tizzy. And now it is time for Thanksgiving. 

I have much to be thankful for. The next generation behind me is looking very solid. All but two are living joyful, responsible lives – and raising kids in joyful households. Of the two who are not, my daughter is just ready to finish up her rehab program in which she has been immersed since last summer. I have good hope that it is taking this time. The other is my nine-year-old niece. I love her, but don’t quite know what to make of her. She is the sweetest-tempered Johnston kid I have ever known. Most in our brood can be funny, kind, intense…but all have a few rough edges. She absolutely adores all her family and animals and all things bright and beautiful. So I have very high hopes for her, too. As for the rest of us, age has smoothed out a lot of the rough edges…but not enough that you would ever be deceived that you were dealing with a brood of fluffy bunnies. 

Almost all are solidly committed to faith, family and freedom. Dark as things are getting, I have high hopes that the events borne by our massive global dysfunction will make it unanimous. Isn’t that what the whole point of faith is? To draw people to the fountain of life that is Christ?

As I said last time, I think our downfall is so shocking to many that normalcy-bias is causing many good people to gather round the car with a blown, burning engine and make absurd suggestions like changing the plugs or inflating the tires to get it roadworthy once more. I have a much harsher take on things: America as founded is over. It is beyond reclamation. The sooner people realize that, the sooner the work of rebuilding a just, healthy and Godly society can begin in earnest. That is the primary reason CORAC was founded. That is something to be thankful for – for God has chosen each of us to live in these times. They are certainly terrifying times. The Gospel reading from Wednesday seems particularly appropriate:

“Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Men will seize you and persecute you; they will hand you over to the synagogues and to imprisonment, and bring you before kings and governors because of my name – and that will be your opportunity to bear witness. Keep this carefully in mind: you are not to prepare your defence, because I myself shall give you an eloquence and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to resist or contradict. You will be betrayed even by parents and brothers, relations and friends; and some of you will be put to death. You will be hated by all men on account of my name, but not a hair of your head will be lost. Your endurance will win you your lives.’”-Luke 21

But these are the birthing pains of the great renewal. Each of us has the glorious opportunity to serve as heralds of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart, of the renewal of the faith and face of both the world and the Church. We won’t do it by running around with our hair on fire. Act as if you know that God wins. Be deliberate, be just, be charitable, act with courage and resolve, and take the next right step under God. Almost all who do this will live to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Going forward, that will be the primary focus here – how to go forward together under God. I will be back at it seriously next week. I have dropped the ball on a lot of things this last week and a half. But as I have often said, people are smart enough to know when they sprain their ankle they should stay off it for a while – and they should be smart enough to know when they have sprained their spirit they should give themselves a little time to grieve and recover. Which is what I have been doing.

Oh how I love the liturgical readings at this time of year AND how I love everything about Advent even more… the readings, the music, the images all speak of hope, freedom, fulfillment of promises and new beginnings. May we luxuriate in this holy season as we partner with God Who IS – even now – making ALL things new. America as founded is surely over… yet, you once said, Charlie, and I believe it is true: “God, then, has a better way.” May we not get ahead of Him nor fall behind when He is asking us to do whatever pleases Him and works together for the good of His Plans and Promises.

    1. Your brother Dave is in my CC Group & a bunch of us had lunch today. He asked if anyone was Catholic in our group & I said I am. He said my brother is very devout. He asked if I had ever been to EWTN I said I have volunteered there for over 25 years. I truly miss my friend Mother Angelica. He mentioned his brother & then he said your name. I said I have met him years ago & have followed his messages. Small World. You are blessed with a Great brother. He has a great personality.     It’s a hard pill to swallow. America may have had its part in salvation history, but it is over. I see too many looking for a political “W”, or thinking they have one. Do not be like the Israelites, don’t demand a king. God is enough. He is our king.
    Recently on Christ the King Sunday I was reminded (again) of the rallying cry of the Cristeros: Viva Cristo Rey!

    3. Hubby was tired of hearing my excuse for turning back the scale was because of the uneven bathroom floor that he said I’ll fix that, and he got a digital scale. So I’m out of luck this year. 🦃😉

    1. Yes, CD, Mallett’s last post that you reference was a real doozy! He always documents what he writes about.

      Those words, Charlie, made me sad that our children and grandchildren won’t experience the world hubby and I experienced in our youth! We know it’s true, and by now have been told for years that the world will change. I dread the part of the change (going on now) that comes before Mama’s Triumph! I can’t talk to any family members about what I know; they are not there yet. But I keep encouraging them in what they see around them! Come Lord Jesus!

      Thank you on this day, Lord, for what you have given us all!

      1. Thank you for sharing. Oh how I need this constant reminder as I’m grumbling about being sick right now. Funny, Sorrowful, but the time stamp on this is 5:28–that’s my birth date. I had a revelation once long ago, that when I see those numbers, it’s God reminding me that He loves me. So, seeing that with this video, well, pretty uplifting. 😔

  11. So much to be thankful for Charlie! Especially my faith! I marvel that I’m not in the throws of despair more times than not. The Good Lord has given me such a wonderful “peace”, even though I tremble for my family and neighbors who are all on the wide road to perdition – eating, drinking and merriment all the way. All I can do is give them to the Lord and Our Blessed Mother. I pray so hard everyday for their illumination of their hearts and minds. And always for their conversion. They all seem firmly “in the world”, its a wonder how my husband and I can continue to resist wanting to be liked by them and be “one of the gang”. But we persevere, by the Grace of God. So yes, I am so thankful that I have my faith and no matter what’s going on around me, I continue to proclaim, “Thank you Lord”!

        I sent this exact quote to my children who have/are having large families.
        Sometimes, with the world crumbling down, it’s nice to see a silver lining of hope to keep on doing what your doing dispite all the doom we seem to be headed for.
        I understand that all we take to heaven is each other, so there is that but Our Lady giving us hope in the here-and-now on having a large family is very encouraging too!

        Dad was the CO of NAS Cecil Field … I didn’t hang out there long as we were on a Troop Ship for Europe six weeks later ;-).

        1. Oh good heavens! How amazing; our third child was born at Jax Naval Hosp. while hubby was stationed at Cecil Field! It’s always a small world among military folks. We were just at a base today; I looked at a picture on the wall and it made me “homesick” for the Navy, but the Navy it used to be 40 or more years ago, and even longer ago than that for my Dad’s Navy.       1. Agree, Sorrowful and Doug… to a degree. I’m still of a mind that there continues to be mega fraud – in elections and at every level of this war being fought on cultural lines – fraud that obscures a clear picture of the condition of the majority of human hearts towards God. Obviously, too many, out of active rejection of Him and/or apathy towards Him, are a reflection of the governmental leaders now in office. And I continue to ponder what it will take to magnetize folks from fear, laziness, pretending that what is isn’t, etc. to stand up and claim God as Sovereign Lord of their own hearts and lives as well as Lord of All His creation.

        This latest film makes a case that a major tech bioweapon is already mightily wreaking wartime death and destruction… and this is only the beginning of what many are calling the Big Kill yet to fully unfold… Oh! if people would only make a return to the Lord in heartfelt repentance and place Him and His life-giving Laws at the center of their lives, they’d find the true fulfillment of their every desire in Him.

It makes me sick Becks.  This is pure evil.  The info that was new to me was the resurgence of cancer.  I had an aunt who did this year.  She was clean of cancer for years.  The resurgence came on suddenly.  Now it makes me wonder.  Lambzie is a 3 time survivor.  I am thankful we both did not get the shot!—- Sent from Doug’s Back Pack

          1. It IS SO sickening, Doug. What is most difficult is waiting for people to awaken and face the truth. How I wish people far from God would just give Him a chance to be Lord in their lives… to taste and see how good He is. I can only imagine how the anger meter will elevate when too many families see their vaxxed children dying due to the jab.

          2. Indeed, Doug, I’m also glad you and Lambzie skipped out on the jab experience.

            Of 12 members of my family, 8 are vaxxxed. None appear to be suffering any significant issues, thanks be to God on this one for sure. In fact my older nephew and his wife just recently had a baby boy. Of my extended clan, one cousin has cancer, another has early onset dementia, but I don’t have dates on vaxxx timing and onset of these conditions. I’m actually not aware of many casualties among those I know directly, which gives me some hope that the next paragraph will be less true than I think it will be.

            Unfortunately for us all, this might be a Bell Curve distribution with a fat tail. The peak will likely be in the 2023-2024 period, and I can only pray that we don’t see 3x our normal death rate of a bit less than 3M a year. A death total of 20M-30M spread over these two next years will not be ignorable. If it happens: Lots of anger coming. Lots of healthcare people and parents will find out they maimed and killed people from good intentions and ignorance. I don’t know what they will do with that knowledge – I can only hope and pray that they make a positive choice to make up for what they’ve done as their way out of guilt, shame and despair. And I alert others to the coming plight of these people, as they will be looking for answers and will need help finding that positive way out.

            1. Absolutely agree with your assessment of the medical people who you mention in your last paragraph, Steve, and I’ve especially included them in my prayers as the truth about the death and damage brought to us from people who knowingly chose evil.

                If it were not for Steve, I certainly would have taken it. So many sincere doctors thought it was necessary to save lives.
                Thank You a million times Steve for all your work. Thank You Jesus, for giving Steve the talent and diligence required.
                Now that Musk has freed twitter, I wonder how much time it will take for this to be “uncensored”.

Hi Steve, I am not sure folks will still pickup on the correlation of death being associated with the shots after a year or so.  The gap in time may not trigger suspicion in many folks.  I hope I am wrong.  I fear too many still have blinders on as this past election somewhat indicates.  As I have previously mentioned, I I know 3 who died (one associated with someone from this blog) and a dear friend has permanent stroke like symptoms.  I met someone who knows 8 folks who have died from the shot.  Of the 3 who died I am aware of, they were not reported to VAERS data base.—- Sent from Doug’s Back Pack

              1. Doug, you are correct. It will take some super-sleuth historians to go back through all the death reports to figure out what has actually happened. And since so many people don’t correlate symptoms a day or two after a jab, trying to get people to see the correlation between people who get a jab in 2021 and die 12 months later of an auto-immune disease will be nigh impossible for all but the most diligent (even obsessive-compulsive!) medical historian.

  18. Charlie, I thought of you today! I have a friend who is a school teacher, director of a small middle school band. Since covid he has been having difficulties attracting students, so he asked me for prayers. He wanted me to pray to St. John his patron Saint. I told him no, I will pray to St Gabriel. So every time he has a recital he reminds me for extra prayers, I always tell him the same, St Gabriel will be right at your side. This is been going on for two years.

    Well last week they played at the Bucks game (now you know from where I am, a small town south of it, I believe you have family here). After the game while he and the children were on the bus on the way back, they began to ask him who was that red haired man who was standing next to him while they were playing, and then my friend’s eyes were opened, he knew who it was because I described him the same way that you described him to us some years back. By the way he also plays the horn.

    I thought this might bring a little happiness these days! I believed you then, and I believe you now! And so do they (husband and wife) even though they laugh when I told them! They are not laughing now, this has been a most humbling experience for the three of us!

    1. Interesting, Maria 😊. I joined the choir at my Parrish last September. We sing at the 11am Mass and one Sunday in August, probably due to vacations, there were only two of us at the 11am Mass, so instead of singing in the choir loft, we took the cantors spot on the altar. I have never cantered but my counter part is an old hand at it (thank heavens).
      At the Great Amen, Pat stood at the podium to lead whilst I continued to kneel. I heard what could only have been angels singing along with us. Incredible harmony and volume. I have heard these voices before, and I thought should I hear them again, I am going rush down to see who’s singing and get them to join our small group!
      Anyway, at the end of Mass I asked Pat if she heard…before I could finish my sentence she said “the angels? Yep, I hear them all the time.” 😳
      Well, thank Heavens, I thought! I am not going crazy, and Wow! What an amazing gift we received that morning.🙏🏼

      1. No, it not just for Charlie! I think it is for all of us! We don’t realize that our guardian angel and the holy archangels are around us and waiting for employment. If we don’t ask for their help or listen to their inspiration we miss out on their powerful assistance.

        I was referring to a post from Charlie some years ago, I believe before the 2020 election in which he spoke about St Gabriel at Christmas Mass, it made a great impression in me. Ever since I venerate the Archangels and my Guardian Angel with more love, especially during Mass. Our silent, yet strong defenders!

        These are public school children, and the likelihood that they go to religious education is uncertain. That’s why the teacher was so amazed. He couldn’t see anything, but the children did. Their ages are between 12-14!

        The teacher goes to Latin Mass, and occasionally comes to my Parrish because our priest offers the Novus Ordo Mass ad orientem! We were leaving after Mass and at the parking lot two weeks ago he asked me for prayers, I told him to expect St Gabriel to be at his side during the game, he, his wife and another friend started to laugh and we all walked away to our cars.

        Yesterday he could not contain himself, the joy was overwhelming both of them! She allowed him to tell me what happened and then my heart participated in the same joy!

        They have never heard anything about this site, that day in the parking lot is the first time I mentioned Charlie’s description but I didn’t go into detail. It was cold and we were in a hurry to get into our cars.

        Keep praying to your guardian angel for assistance! Keep them off the unemployment line I tell everyone!

        1. It’s impossible, Maria, unless you were among those who copied the posts back at TNRS. I don’t recall Charlie describing – in writing – St. Gabriel as do you. I do recall some visit videos wherein Charlie spoke about his dear angelic friend. Perhaps, this is simply a moment for you to treasure as you give thanks to God, remembering He is at work in myriad ways in all of our lives, whispering in thousands of ways as He conveys how much He loves each and every one of us.
