Real Thanks to be Given: Our Coming Pandemic of Courage

After reading tons of commentary on the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict last week, there is a central aspect that has been largely uncommented on. In fact, it may be THE key aspect. This outcome has NOT vindicated the justice system, which should never have brought this case to trial. I am not convinced that it has served as a fortification of the 2nd Amendment either: the left is using it as a platform to advocate against that amendment. What is central to me is that this jury knew that they were being doxed; knew that the lawless lynch mob threatened to harm them and their families if they did not issue the “right” (unjust) verdict; knew that the corporate media was egging the mob on, contrary to the evidence; knew that most public officials on the left were doing the same; and knew that the prosecutors were brazenly lying directly contrary even to the evidence they presented and engaging in shockingly open misconduct. . Yet despite all this and the credible, personal threat to their own safety, this jury followed the evidence and the law anyway and found Rittenhouse not guilty. That was an act of intentional resistance – and open defiance of the maliciously false narrative so many institutions had mounted.

I have to think that, at some point, the jury (from Kenosha County) had to contemplate that the mayor of Kenosha and the governor of Wisconsin, with media encouragement, willingly gave their city over to a violent mob, while this mere teenager tried to defend their hometown. Some on the jury may have even thought, with guilt, that they had not stood in the breach as this boy had. And now they were going to right the moral blight that had afflicted all who had abdicated their responsibility to protect ordinary people – and the malicious evil which led so many institutions to actually encourage the evil.

Since the verdict, leftist officials and the corporate media have been shrieking like a brood of vampires confronted with an armada of crucifixes on a sea of Holy Water. Though they may not yet understand it consciously, they understand viscerally that this is a conscious rejection by ordinary people of them, all their works, and all their empty promises. If they cannot check this rebellion, their influence and power is near its end. For the left, including the corporate media, this heralds a genuinely existential crisis.

This crisis was compounded for them by the horrific assault in Waukesha less than a week later when Darrell Brooks, a white-hating black supremacist (at least by his social media history) allegedly plowed through a Christmas parade with his SUV, killing at least six and wounding at least 40. (I say allegedly for legal reasons – the video record speaks for itself). Much of the corporate media, astonishingly, tried to make excuses for him, suggesting this was not an intentional act of terror, but just a tragic accident as he was running from police for a previous crime. Local law enforcement authorities publicly slapped that excuse down as a brazen lie before a full day had passed (notably quicker than public authorities normally publicly correct media lies). So, instead the leftist media tried to downplay the story and its coverage. After publicly showing their evil nature with their lies in the Rittenhouse trial, it was as if they couldn’t wait to confirm it with the way they covered Waukesha.

As for leftist public officials, Milwaukee County DA John Chisholm is now in the hot seat for his efforts to reduce bail requirements almost to the vanishing point for violent felons since he first took office. At the time of the horror, Brooks was out on $1,000 bail while two open serious felonies are pending against him, one in which he is accused of running over his victim with his car. He should not have been out in the first place. This as even lefties in San Francisco are waking up to how out of control crime can become when prosecutors focus on “criminal justice reform” instead of protecting innocent and honest people. Ordinary people are figuring out that continually releasing violent criminals with little bail is actually issuing blank death warrants for innocent people – whose names are filled in after the released criminal commits his next violent felony when he should not even be walking the streets. If the lefties wanted to fool the folksies a little longer, they should have kept their pie holes shut instead of doubling down on what anybody who looks can now see are hideous lies.

Melissa Mackenzie, columnist at and publisher of the American Spectator, sends out a regular email newsletter which prominently displays the slogan, “Courage is Contagious.” She’s right. May these outbreaks of courage by ordinary people become a true pandemic against the malicious lies of the corporate media and actions of leftist public officials. For this, may we have true cause for Thanksgiving. Aslan is on the move.

Thank you to so many of you who have been praying for me. I had intended this to be a survey column, with several hopeful items, but I can only write by fits and starts – and this was all I could finish right now. There will be more over the next week. Following are excerpts of an update I sent out to the CORAC leadership team earlier today:

“I am doing well in my recovery, but still have a climb. Weird stuff…as I recover (and even as the infection was drilling deeper) it is more like a gauntlet of symptoms I have to pass through than a single disease. Every three days it seems, as one painful or trying symptom passes, a new one settles in for a few days. When a previous one is gone, it stays gone. Other than my gauntlet of transient symptoms, the toughest ongoing one I have to deal with is the fatigue and sudden dropoff of energy. When you let Covid drill into you as deeply as I did before beginning proper therapeutic treatment, it is like three wildcats tearing through the house. I haven’t been infectious for almost two weeks. The wildcats are gone, but boy, there is a lot of damage to be cleaned up.  Basically, I can do almost everything normally and I can think intensely again – but after a couple of hours of sustained effort, everything drops off the table and I can’t do serious work again until I have slept a couple of hours (makes it very hard to write – but at least I know when I am dropping off). I hope to have a piece up tonight. Yesterday, I had the best day since I stabilized. I had an awful weekend, after being transported over two days from Missoula, Montana to central Colorado. But I expected that. When I have a good day, I push myself as much as I reasonably can – knowing that it is going to make for a rough day or two following – and then I do it again. Not to worry, this method is taking me three steps forward and then only one or two steps back. But recovery must be measured week to week rather than day to day. Thanks be to God for Mark and Mary Lapchak, who are taking very good care of me, even though I can often be grumpy. And thanks be to God for Beckita, who took care of me for over three weeks when I was at my very worst.

  7. Yes Charlie, recovering from illness or trauma is a few steps forward and a couple of steps backward, until one day we make it out of the woods. Sometimes its a long haul.

    I can assure you that the energy does come back. Although we had very mild symptoms, the energy drop off is very real. Even 6 months down the line we deal with it, but it has much decreased. We take it as a message from God that we are to be totally dependent on Him and no other.

      1. Thank you Katey! Our day of festivities was beautifully solemn and serene. ❤
        It started with me assisting in a Mass presided by and receiving Communion from the Archbishop (Luke) of Malawi and another priest from his Archdiocese, Father Francis. And although he resided in Africa, his story of conversion, and those of his die-hard Islamic family members and community, including the Islamic Chiefs in 2017, was one of the best Homilies of thanksgiving to God I have ever heard!
        His father who refused to give him a blessing to become Catholic, because we Catholics will be damned to hell and would be consumed in eternal hell fire, realized during the consecration in his son's ordination to Archbishop in 2014 that he desired to become Catholic too. After the ceremony, the father fell to his knees before his son (who ran away from home at the age of eight in 1970 and was estranged and exiled from his father and Muslim community until that very day, by the grace of God) and begged to be baptized. The Archbishop told his father that becoming Catholic would take work and commitment and required three years of RICA. He asked his father, if you too want to be damned to hell and be consumed in eternal hell fire, come with me and I will lead the way. 😉 His whole family, except a brother, (there's always one) and the community converted. Praise be to God.

    Glad to see you are recovering.

    Your insight into the jury action has to be right and that is encouraging.

    Re bail setting, I do think we have a national problem in principle. Darrell Brooks has his bail now set at $5 mil– but why is he offered bail at any amount. Given his priors, including having an active warrant for impregnating a minor in Las Vegas, and his songs and Facebook chatter demonstrating he is full of hatred, common sense dictates that he be incarcerated with no opportunity for release before trial.
    Why is bail set with money as the ticket when in fact criminal handling ought not ethically be treated as a function of wealth. It seems to me that judges should set terms for release without regard to wealth, but only with regard to the risks to society, and conditions set for guarding those released before trial; judges who are voted into office may be held responsible for their decisions by voters. If Soros thought about it, he could have one of his fronts fund bail regardless of the amount set.

    Both juries just made the right decisions, the one in WI and in GA, but there is much more to inspire hope for optimism about a course correction in our society now precisely because the Administration, acting under the Godless, Communist leaning direction of the Democrats, led by feeble minded Joe, have been behaving outrageously across a wide spectrum of public concerns. Biden’s Energy Sec mocks folks for being upset over high priced gasoline, natural gas, and propane; Granholm freely tells us that high fossil fuel prices are constructive, because that will help to drive their new Green religion. As the Woke now seek to erase sex differences as unimportant and actually detrimental to their ideal Godless society, raping school girls is a minor problem only, would be females outcompeting girls is fine, but parents who disagree are now to be treated by the FBI and Intel agencies as domestic terrorists. The price inflation being caused by the trillion dollar pork bills in now being felt by everyone who is not rich.

    The very outrages of Biden and his DemoRat Party are sure to defeat them in the ’22 elections.

  17. When I was sick about the same time Charlie was first layed low I took a 5000 unit dose of B vitamins and miraculously woke the next morning completely symptom free!
    Now it was more probably due to all the prayers I received here but I was astonished how well I felt from one day to the next.
    I would have posted what happened right away but I was so dumb-struck I didn’t think it was real and expected to start feeling ill again at any time.
    Alas, I never did and I’ve been well and on a role now for several weeks.
    So as part of my thanksgiving for Thanksgiving day I thank you all for your prayers and for my continued good health.

      1. I wondered about that Phillip. Thanks for this important clarification. This result really put an exclamation point on SteveBC’s encouragement to get Vitamin D levels into the higher ranges… along with his friendly exhortation that the only way to monitor individual levels is by testing levels every 3-4 months. This places our bodies in a position to fend off most any virus.

        1. I was told by my nurse sister-in-law that vitamin B complex does help with the fatigue. I don’t know what that dose is though.

          2. Phillip and Jewel, yes, B vitamins are helpful. Mainly, it’s the B1 (Thiamine) that helps Phase 2 Covid, because it directly helps stop the immune system from uncontrolled reactions. Thiamine is particularly helpful for people who are overweight and who are often very low in B1 before getting ill. It’s part of my protocol for treatment, to get at least 200 mg and preferably 300 mg of Thiamine a day when sick with Covid, with a formula that includes other Bs as well. 🙂

              1. Linda, it’s possible to take B1 alone but only for a very short period of time, as taking only one type of B vitamin will cause issues with other Bs. Best is to take a B Complex that has the 100 mg of Thiamine in it along with good values for the other Bs. For maintenance, I take this B complex cap only about 3 times a week, always in the morning. The actual product I use is listed in the Stuff I Like section of my website, the Stuff for B section. If someone were to get Covid, then the dose could rise to 2 or even three caps a day. This is particularly needed for people who are overweight/obese, because they routinely become B1-deficient.

        2. Just a thought, Beckita, but when I had the virus I had nausea and couldn’t take any of the regime that SBC had laid out for us. However, I trusted that in taking it *before* I got sick I would be in good shape- and I was! Interestingly enough, I was able to take aspirin with a bit of toast for my headaches. 🤷🏼‍♀️
          I think every person’s experience is different, but the one thing that helps is taking care in first place.

A friend in town, who is finishing with active covid, was taking bovine IVM as a prophylactic for several months before contracting the virus and has fared well with symptoms during her bout with covid. She attributes this positive resolution of most symptoms in a short time to the IVM.

        3. The lower infection rates of Covid-19 in Africa has been suggested to be partially from the populations out-of-doors lifestyle.-ie; Vitamin D from the sun.
          It is one of the main components of why there are lower sickness rates in summer when people shed clothing and recieve more sunlight hours than during the winter months.
          My illness occured during a cold, overcast period and between work (indoors), playing music (staying up late) and hunting (getting up early) I’d been burning the candle at both ends (and the midnight oil too!)
          I’m still hard at it but the Vitamin D seems to be helping to keep me out of the ditch.
          Great to have rediscovered this here on our site with all the active stories and posts about Vitamin D.
          God is truly concerned with every aspect of our lives, both physical, mental and spiritual.

  19. Glad you are better, Charlie, even though still fighting that evil thing! Great thoughts and analysis and I love the conclusion that there is a “conscious rejection by ordinary people” of all that has been foisted upon us by power hungry dictators.

    I tell the Holy Spirit that we (all His children) are crying out to Him to send His light upon the earth! This morning I gave all my sadness to the Lord (a couple if difficult family issues) as intercession, and even with that, there is still more to be thankful for than there is bad news. Praise you, Jesus!

      1. For someone who has just passed day and not had this, but does seem to be getting worse instead of better, as a home treatment will Benadryl work as anti-histamine? A;so. HOW does a sick person get to doctors if they are not well enough to drive? And no one already had covid to be immune to drive them?

        1. Nance, our doc asked us to stay home if we are sick and if we need to go to the hospital then call 911 for an ambulance. As for who would drive ME – if not my husband, then one of my sons would whether they were cvd immune or not. Don’t know if you have family near, and some have family who would not help, but mine would.
          As for antihistamine ~ I took Dimetapp because I thought it was a cold. Worked fine!

    1. CD, I saw the RFK, Jr. interview yesterday (with Corbett) and another interview a while back. It is all explosive info, not only on Fauci, in the new book, but about his father’s assassination and where the bullets came from, the angle. RFK, Jr. does exhaustive research, which is evident from all the info he presents and writes about.

  31. Been listening to a YouTube channel called Bushcraft Bear. It’s focus is on the La Palma volcano eruption in the Canary Islands, just off the Northwest Coast of Africa. Anyway, on Friday afternoon he always treats us to a scripture, usually one of the Psalms. However, today he added in an encouraging quote from Jeremiah 17, as follows;

Love St. Catherine Labouré and our Mother’s instructions to her and, therefore, to us all: ASK for the graces and they’ll be there for all our needs… flowing from Jesus on the Cross through the hands of our Mother, the Mediatrix of All Graces. My visit to the Chapel of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal on the Rue du Bac in Paris, so many years ago, remains in my sweet memories. Then there’s the connection of being born on the Feast of St. Vincent de Paul.

  36. Charlie, so very glad to hear your are recovering, even though slowly. I have hear that there is pure exhaustion involved….My first reaction to the K.R. verdict was to think that this was one very courageous jury. They had to know that they were putting themselves at risk and, even so, stepped up and did the right thing. The prosecution’s witnesses made the defense’s case for them! I could hardly believe when the D.A. put his head on the table at which he sat after hearing the testimony of his own witness! Given that there was more than reasonable doubt, a fair jury had to acquit.

  38. I love that line, “Aslan is on the move.” I think with fondness of the unwavering faith, fearless boldness and motherly love of the Foundress of EWTN, Mother Angelica. It was during one of her episodes that I was introduced to Our Lady of America. Recently during morning prayer time, I have been reminded of Our Lady of America’s request. Finally I pulled out Sr. Mildred’s Diary, began reading, and said, “Oh.” Here’s a few quotes:

        She never spoke about salvation. What She foresees is great suffering and so offers a way out if we were to respond to her requests. Here is what she further said:

        “My beloved daughter, what I am about to tell you concerns in a particular way my children in America. Unless they do penance by mortification and self-denial and thus reform their lives, God will visit them with punishments hitherto unknown to them.
        “My child, there will be peace, as has been promised, but not until my children are purified and cleansed from defilement, and clothed thus with the white garment of grace, are made ready to receive this peace, so long promised and so long held back because of the sins of men.
        “My dear children, either you will do as I desire and reform your lives, or God Himself will need to cleanse you in the fires of untold punishment. You must be prepared to receive His great gift of peace. If you will not prepare yourselves, God will Himself be forced to do so in His justice and mercy.”

            Our Lady of Fatima specifically spoke about salvation and souls being lost because there was no one to pray for them, etc.
            But this is not the thrust of her messages as Our Lady of America. As a loving Mother, she is concerned about the suffering that lies ahead here on earth for all mankind and she repeats it over and over. Her request is very specific asking that a statue to her likeness of Our Lady of America be processed and placed in the Basilica of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception in DC. She also indicated this to be lead by a bishop. Then, she will arrange great graces of conversion. She emphatically repeated her message at Fatima that the peace we here at CORAC keep talking about will come but only after conversion which can be voluntary or at the Hand of the God’s Justice and Mercy. We are on the verge of a real pandemic of vaccination adverse side effects the likes of which none of us can comprehend and now they are vaccinating children! And what about the other coming chastisements. God’s plan is for the salvation of as many as possible. Our Lady of America is giving us an alternative to the inevitable suffering and an alternative method to attain conversion. The additional angel visions and messages confirm this and tell how they will strike the enemy and heal the repentant sinner and we will know the protection of God. It’s a profound and tremendous message of hope, and relief.
            Maybe it’s not too late – to respond to her request!

            1. And in what does salvation consist in? Gosh, there are direct references in the purported message you quoted, as well as boundless subtler ones. Point was, consider not digging in on the letter (i.e.- your understanding and framing), at the expense of the spirit. To me, it all bespeaks Salvation. And all the potential human suffering experienced on the road of Restoration can’t compare to that reward in the least. Sure, part of me would like a “way out” in human terms, but it’s been becoming the scantier part for a long time, day by day. The former is the restless part, while the latter is learning how to better rest (which, by the way, is contained in the word “restoration.”) And by “rest,” I mean trusting in Him whatever we’re about. Let’s pray that we’re all about His business.

My prayer is that he will respond with joy leading this procession, and then let the show begin across USA, America and the world of pilgrimages, conversions and healings. If this happens, we will avoid great suffering and streamline into Her era of peace. This is my take on Our Lady of America’s intention and offer, if we care to respond. She is all about His business.

                1. Yesterday was the final day of my novena of St. Michael Angelic Chaplets. I then began a new Litany and Novena prayer to St. Raphael. It was too late for my regular noontime Mass so I sought a later Mass in a place that had real candles. Found a 4:45 Mass at St. Francis Chapel, in Boston’s Prudential Center, where for many years I frequented while working at Pru. The Chapel was redone moving the Tabernacle to the center behind the main altar where amazingly affixed to the wall above this Tabernacle were two long curtains draped from the ceiling emphasizing enormous pictures of St. Michael and St. Raphael!

                  The candle is lit and flickering for that bishop beneath a life-size statue of St. Joseph (Patron of the Catholic Church and one who allegedly will play a significant role in the works of Our Lady of America).

                  God bless all here and in a special way bless MP and StJudithWantToBe in thanksgiving for moving this along in my prayer life to a place I could not have imagined.

  40. Off topic. I am trying to learn some Old World skills. So I am trying to make sour dough bread at home. I think my sour dough starter was looking good today so I mixed the bread dough and I am waiting to see how it rises. It is somewhat like a science experiment. And fun. I am using the simple recipe Sour Dough Bread for Lazy People found on youtube. This baker is really funny! He is my kind of baker. He takes the fear out and uses a lot of humor.

  44. I have not been on the board lately. Busy at work and coming home tired. I also hurt my leg and hip and have been in pain. I come home and crash on the sofa with my cane within reach so that I can get up. I take muscle relaxants to quell the spasms. Oh, well, life happens!……I have also been reading JFK, Jr’s new book, The Real Anthony Fauci. It is a big book. It has lots and lots of footnotes and documentation. If even half of what is said is true,then we can truly say that Facui is beyond corrupt. If it is not true, then I think we can see lots of litigation because the assertions are specific and very, very hideous and damning. Josef Mengele, move over. Of course, he talks about Bill G as well. It is one heck of a Godfather scenario.

      1. Annie W., I have been reading a lot of books lately. They all seem to correspond to a lot of what JFK., Jr. is saying. …but he says much more. His allegations are very specific. He would have to be very sure of himself in order not to provoke litigation. The book had to be full of about 50 pages of citations and footnotes. Yes, I definitely tend to believe what is in the book but, of course, I did not check every footnote. Nonetheless, I think that everyone should read this book. If this horrific stuff (ie., experiments on the most vulnerable) is really going on in the USA (and the world), then we citizens need to be fully aware and try to stop it. Reading this book shook me deeply.

          When I see Fauci I see a power-hungry little man who is drunk on his own power. He does whatever he wants because he is a power unto himself. However, his time will come and it won’t be pretty.

            1. Truly this is a must read book. The allegations of what is being done is akin to what the Nazis did.
              There is force feeding of children of experimental drugs (babies, toddlers, older kids who have been taken from their parents in the USA for various reasons and who have no legal advocates ) When the older ones refuse, they are shipped to a cooperating center and a tube is put in their stomachs. Horrible side effects and deaths occur….Dogs are allowed to be bitten by insects and fleas until they die( for about 250 days). For what purpose is an experiment like this? Expired or dangerous drugs are sold to African nations and people suffer (No, they are not saving millions as they claim! The so-called science is like that of Josef Mengele….but they arrange to be paid massive amounts of money!) One cannot simply turn away and not try and stop this. The must vulnerable among us are being used. It is all so hard to digest. How could this country be an arm of evil, corrupt, greedy and sadistic liars? (But there are brave scientists who are speaking out and they are quoted in the book re their experiences.) As I said, if these things are not true, there will be litigation. These assertions are the actions of monsters. Evil on a very large scale.

From Feb. 11, 2011 to Aug. 21, 2012, he walked 3,200 miles across the country, sleeping in the woods, meeting people and praying as he went. He writes on cultural, global and political issues from an orthodox Catholic perspective. He emphasizes that we find God most surely through the ordinary, doing the little things we should with faith and fidelity. His constant refrain is that, to live real joy, we must acknowledge God, take the next right step, and be a sign of hope to those around us. He lives in the Archdiocese of Denver in the United States.
