On September 20, 2000, Special Counsel Robert Ray wrapped up the Whitewater investigation into the Clintons by concluding that there was insufficient evidence to prove to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt that the Clintons had knowingly violated the law. The media, of course, touted it as an exoneration of the Clintons.

Everybody knew that Bill Clinton had committed perjury, had sexually harassed and assaulted women while he was governor of Arkansas and president of the United States, and that there was a raft of serious financial wrongdoing and raw pay-for-play schemes surrounding the Clintons. But after an impeachment ordeal that was thoroughly politicized – and the media unanimously touting that the Clinton’s refusing to give over evidence and β€œlosing” evidence that courts ordered them to surrender β€œproved” that the evidence was not there, it had become a lost cause. The evidence was extensive and documented, although with some holes from what the Clintons simply destroyed.

Yet everyone expected some version of what Ray concluded, because all parties were exhausted from the battle. The truth was that the evidence was there in abundance, but Ray had good reason to doubt that a jury in D.C. would be any more interested in that evidence than the media was. Thus, this case winked out not because there was a lack of evidence of guilt, but because Clinton and the media had more power than a prosecutor could overcome to get anyone to honestly hear and see that evidence. Since the conclusion was what was expected, the decision did not make huge headlines.

Talking with one of my Priests shortly after the decision, I noted that this was the first major case where the prosecutor all but admitted that he had the goods, but that the leftist power structure in government and the media was too strong for him – so he just would not pursue it further. I wrote to my Priest that I both suspected and feared that this would be the first big rock to tumble from the edifice of justice – and would ultimately lead to the replacement of the rule of law with the rule of raw power – that if unimpeded, there would need be no crime for conservatives and Christians to be prosecuted and persecuted and no crime would be so serious that Democrats could not thumb their nose at the law. That solitary rock falling from the justice system has, 20 years later, become a sinkhole. Nobody expects a fair shake from the justice system…from the courts or any other federal agency anymore. If we were candid, when someone was hauled into court, they wouldn’t bother reading the charges. They would simply ask whether the accused was a Christian or a conservative. If so, he was guilty – sentence first, trial later. If he was a Democrat, he was not guilty – and the court would angrily demand to know why anyone had charged him in the first place.

The evidence of massive vote-fraud is overwhelming and growing by the day – and has been systemic and growing since the introduction of vote-tabulating software. (Yeah, I feel pretty good right now that I have long been an advocate of simple paper ballots, same-day voting, purging voter lists at least every four years, and voter ID.) Β One of Trump’s top election lawyers, Lin Wood, told Mark Levin last week that he believes Trump won about 70 percent of the popular vote and over 400 electoral votes. That matches up well with my own old-school analysis that tells me Trump won by 12 million votes.

I am now 100 percent certain that Trump and his lawyers will prove beyond any reasonable doubt that the Democrats engaged in the most massive vote fraud this side of Venezuela and North Korea. The idiot media has been busy censoring any mention of this evidence while simultaneously demanding where the evidence is. It reminds me of one of Judge William Orrick’s favorite ploys in David Daleiden’s abortion cases: he forbids Daleiden from introducing certain evidence and, later, on ruling, criticizes Daleiden for not introducing the very evidence he forbade. That attitude is the hinge of all doubt in this matter.

While the Trump team has the goods, I no longer have confidence in the fortitude or honor of our legislatures and judges. They could view the massive mounds of evidence and pretend it isn’t there. There is a strong likelihood they will. Our elite classes are filled with knaves and fools. Fox News has gone completely in the tank for the ruling class. Even Tucker Carlson has been busy harassing Trumpers and demanding they kiss his ring rather than searching for honest answers (though I have enjoyed Carlson’s candid boldness in the last year, I have never forgotten that he was a moderate, limp-wristed type when he was with CNN. My fear that he just kisses the ring of whoever signs his paycheck seems to be being confirmed. He is not actually a passionate populist: he does play one on TV pretty well, though.)

Last week I spoke with a couple of the president’s lawyers – one in some detail. I was startled then at how jubilantly confident they were that they had the goods. The events of this last week have shown me that that confidence was entirely justified. Now the question is whether they have a better chance than a snowball in hell of getting a fair shake from the mavens in the elite class. If they can actually get it to the Supreme Court, I think they do. Though they have a slam-dunk case, that is what actual conservatives and Christians have to have to have a ghost of a chance at a fair shake.

Thus, we have a great battle before us. If evidence and honor take the day and Trump is inaugurated for his second term, the pagan left will be like a cemetery full of murderous vampires hissing and snarling as they seek to burn down the country. If Joe Biden is installed as the first fully fraudulent, illegitimate man to usurp the office of president, the true resistance has begun.

The rule of law is dead. May we call on God and cooperate with Him in resurrecting it. The hour of the ordinary man is upon us. May we serve God well and truly on the road to Mordor.

Like so many of my fellow Catholics, I am shaken by the level of ineptitude and betrayal among our hierarchy. And yet, I see stirrings of real sobriety and seriousness of purpose sprouting among our American Bishops. At the Fall General Assembly of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), the Bishops elected new heads for their various projects. The slate of new β€œdepartment heads” is a very hopeful one for those who value orthodoxy and the Magisterium. Even more hopeful is that these β€œdepartment heads” were elected by their fellow Bishops. That tells me that a lot of Bishops are thinking that the policy of reflexively genuflecting to secular authorities is not working out well for any of us.

Further, in reflection, I suspect I was a bit too harsh in my assessment of USCCB President Archbishop Jose Gomez in his decision to issue a congratulatory statement to Joe Biden. Yes, it was absurd to congratulate Biden on a β€œvictory” he has not won. I know that Abp. Gomez was under intense pressure to issue the statement from some activist fellow Bishops. That, of course, is no excuse. Yet his formal statement was more carefully parsed than I originally recognized. He did not say Biden would be the second Catholic president in U.S. history, but that Biden would be the second man to β€œprofess” the Catholic faith. In normal times, that would be a notably clever piece of work. In these times, honest boldness with careful diplomacy is the watchword. Our Bishops would be well advised to study closely the history of St. John Paul, when he was the Cardinal Archbishop of Krakow. His diplomacy in confronting the communist rulers there was masterful – and is terribly needed in America now. The first thing to note is that Archbishop Wojtyla (John Paul’s birth name) was clearly NOT the Bishop of the ruling class. He was the Bishop of the Catholic faithful in Krakow, beloved because of his fidelity to them and to the faith he was charged with proclaiming. With the people firmly behind him, though ruling authorities would prefer to kill him, they had to deal carefully with him.

Not a decisive turn just yet, but I sense some genuinely hopeful stirrings in the hierarchy.

For those of us in the pews, a great challenge is to try to differentiate between those who are actual enemies of the faith in the hierarchy and those who just make a lot of blunders. The blunderers are not my enemies; they include some of our most important future allies. Be careful not to drive them into the camp of actual enemies.

The annual Texas Right to Life (TRTL) Celebration of Life Dinner was held last Saturday. It drew 650 people despite the Covid business stalking the land. Pam Tebow, mother of Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow, was the keynote speaker. Some had urged her to abort the baby that would grow up to become the college football great. Her decision to choose life then led her to become a passionate advocate for life who speaks throughout the country.

I love the people at TRTL. Though an outsider, I work with them sporadically and have gotten to know most of the team. Every week, they begin several meetings with a reading of Scripture, after which everyone discusses what it means to them and how it has affected them. They are a prayerful team – and the youngest group of seasoned veterans I know.

A couple of years ago, I was down doing some work with TRTL and went to a barbecue honoring the young people who serve as volunteer pro-life coordinators on college campuses across the state. At one point, a lovely, demure young oriental girl who was wearing a cowboy hat and cute boots had her turn to speak. β€œHey y’all,” she began with a big grin and thick Texas accent before launching into an enthusiastic speech defending life. It was the moment I knew (with Dorothy and Toto) that I was definitely not in Kansas anymore. I saw her at the dinner this year, in her third year of coordinating her college – and she was delighted that her speech when she first came on board made such an impression on me.

It delights me that I spend so much time with people who are fully committed to life – and have saved so many lives, both in the aggregate and in particular. They are passionate, joyful warriors who fully live what they preach. And I get to be with them for the North Texas dinner in Dallas tonight. I love this state and these wonderful people.

        Blagojevich: “President Trump has a constitutional duty to ensure that there is election integrity in our voting systems, and the evidence is overwhelming… I should say the allegations of wrongdoing is overwhelming in places like Pennsylvania, Michigan, places the Democrats control everything. Having been a Democratic governor, a Congressman from Chicago, I know how they operate. The evidence will be there, they’re going to find it because of the statistical anomalies in the case as well as the unlikelihood… the improbability that you can be ahead by 800,000 votes in Pennsylvania, or a little bit less than that, with 63 percent of the vote in and then somehow you lose? Another problem is if they show their cards too soon, the corporate media that’s in a conspiracy to destroy Trump and destroy his presidency, they’re trying to ratify what is in my belief, a corrupt election. They’re going to be all over the place trying to take away the arguments that Trump’s people have and the witnesses they have and the evidence they have, so it would be imprudent I think for the Trump legal team to be doing too much of this publicly. I think they’re playing it right, and again, the endgame is you gotta get this to the Supreme Court.”

        1. I think this is a very wise assessment. God often intervenes at the last moment. It is truly significant that he took Ruth Ginsberg when He did, and that Trump was able to appoint a brilliant Catholic judge with moral courage. I think she is part of His plan. Unfortunately, everyone involved will be risking their very lives to save this republic and the right to religious freedom, along with all the other rights in our current Bill of Rights. And that is really what is at stake…..You know I read late last night that Francis has written a new book soon to be released in which he compares the crowds at Trump’s rallies to those of Hitler’s rallies. I think that some portion of the Catholic vote went to Trump. Maybe much more than we realize. So, if this news is true, he may be telling certain pro-life Catholics that they are on the same level as Nazis (when these are the very people fighting infanticide) whereas Francis says that we pro-lifers talk too much about abortion. The statements of this pope are beyond shocking. Yes, God’s ways are mysterious and He often works in contradictions. This is a perplexing and confounding contradiction is the for ages. Here we have a flawed former business man who, in his advanced years, is acting more Catholic than the pope of the Catholic church….The saddest thing of all is that Francis allowing communists to mess with the Catholic church. He allowed it in China and, should Biden get in, I think he would be silent on all types of suppression of religious expression. He wants to support all types who call themselves “oppressed”. Francis is a consummate leftist politician who has entrenched himself in all the New World Order thinking. He wants to save the poor and save the world from global climate change and I believe that he is dancing with the satan because he considers this more important than saving innocent lives. He is so concerned about temporal issues that he is allowing eternal truths to fall by the wayside. Knowingly or unknowingly, he has gone astray.

        2. Saw this interview on TV a few days ago, and I believe it is right on. As he says, he himself was in the thicket of all this as a Dem governor and a Congressman from Chicago, and knows about the “machine” first hand! I pray that he is right about prevailing in the Supreme Court. He repeats what Sydney Powell and others have said, that all the evidence is for court and not for the press now. Still praying every day! One small victory today in PA.

  4. How does the Holy Spirit inform us?… something I contemplate from time to time, particularly in the past couple of weeks or so, and again this morning.

    Specifically this morning, I was thinking how tragic that so many get swept away by the noise and clutter of information (yes, even info sometimes fastidiously parsed)! Maybe even more tragic when it affects the elect so much that they mistake it for being informed by the Holy Spirit, or forget the Holy Spirit altogether out of some habit or another.

    Sitting out back this morning I noticed the usual movements of fur and feathers. Ground squirrel, some sparrows, falcon, shrike, doves, field mouse,.. the sort of stuff that has my dog darting out the back door and giving chase. So there we were having an unusual moment this morning, her keen eyes and instinct notwithstanding, she was perfectly content to forego the usual and simply crawl up in my lap. Was she ill? Nope. Maybe she just completely overcame her dogginess for a marvelous moment there.

    Whatever the case, I was flipping through a newsfeed (an obvious irony), and stumbled on this little nugget from our buddy, Des:

    β€œWhat is the line between resignation and despair, between abandoning our pride and losing hope? The dividing line is God’s own providence.”

    You know, on occasion it dawns upon me that one doesn’t really stand in as great a need of understanding the whole world as he or she occasionally thinks. Many times, all we have to do is look around us, in our own community, in our own parishes, neighborhoods, etc. [This is because the β€˜basics’ of our human condition don’t change from day to day or place to place.]

    I was in a meeting of sorts few days ago, and the center of discussion turned around how we are to live as Christians in times like these. When my turn came, I stated that the general slow down in our society caused by Covid had been a blessing for me – that I was more at peace than I had been for a long long time.

    Some people took that well. Some others seemed troubled, indeed incensed. They had the idea that the only solution is to throw caution to the winds, deliberately meet in large groups in close contact. Shout from the street corners about the evil around us. In the words of Admiral Farragut, their motto appeared to be, β€œDamn the torpedos, full steam ahead.” And, just how could anybody be at great peace with what is going on around us? Their eyes said this as much as their words.

    They were really worked up. I might have quoted something to them about the risk of abandoning any sort of search for wisdom in their decision making process. The book of Proverbs states it well, β€œI, wisdom, dwell in prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.” [Prov. 8:12]. But I could see by their faces that I would have been wasting my time to speak of such things to them at that time.

    Within the human condition, we will always be surrounded by people who take little effort to find wisdom or think and act prudently. We are also compassed about by people screaming, β€˜It’s my way or the highway’ – in all things it seems. Whenever we hear such human voices, we should treat them kindly, but march to the beat of wisdom’s drummer. Wisdom which when we find it is the voice of God in our lives – and is always calming. That voice never speaks in agitation and irritation. And it always respects and treats kindly the right and obligation of others to follow their own well-formed conscience.

      The article reminds me of a pro-life Operation Rescue demonstration I attended years ago, as well as a more current pro-President Trump, pro-America, pro-freedom demonstration.

      Right before this particular Operation Rescue demonstration, organizer Randall Terry said something to the effect of: “Those who are called to possibly get arrested for the pro-life cause come with me, we’re going into the abortion clinic and handcuff ourselves to one of the doors inside.” There was absolutely no pressure on anyone to risk arrest. The majority of us chose to remain lawfully outside on the public sidewalk and quietly pray or hold signs, with Catholics, Protestants, and Jews all praying peacefully according to their respective traditions.

      As for the pro-Trump demonstration, it was peaceful, though with some angry sentiments being exchanged. When cars drove by and the people in them made their disagreement with us known in ways which could best be described as rude, I made the sign of the cross towards their car following the Biblical suggestion to “bless those who curse you.” A man standing near me was at first replying in anger towards those who were against us. Maybe he saw me making the sign of the cross, anyways, he eventually started replying to the pro-Biden people with words along the lines of “Jesus loves you!” The thing about attending a pro-Trump demonstration is that you can offer up the event as a prayer: the time that you spend there rather than doing something you might enjoy better, the weather if it’s cold, windy, rainy, or snowing.

      To my mind, just as there are both active and contemplative Orders in religious life, there’s a time and a place for both public activity and private prayer, following the Biblical suggestion about “entering into the closet to pray where the Father will see and reward you in secret.” Discernment is key, and making a decision coming from a place of peace, following the Holy Spirit’s lead.

      1. Yes. I would add the distinction that discerning towards balance is also key, considering just how out of balance so many groups and individuals have become. Darn near everything! Not too long after that episode this morning, a friend was expressing their woes concerning the infighting amongst the various factions of Trump supporters. We see it there, we see it at work, we see it in the family, we see it at Church, we see it in virtually every group we encounter. Seems to me the Holy Spirit is eager to work that out in each individual first… major obstacle overcome at the source!

    2. Sansan, I pray that this is true. If sanity and logic rule, then it will be true. Giuliani spoke the truth and he had witnesses to back him up. These courageous witnesses must feel extreme duress because they are living in cities and counties where the corruption was the worst. (Can you imagine who is following them around and knocking on their doors at all hours of the day and night? Not many people can put up with the hatred and blows as Trump has done for 4 years!) Nonetheless, Pennsylvania is very corrupt. As we have seen over and over again in the last year, anything can happen. I think that we should all buckle our seat belts. Whether we like it or not, we are now riding (probably) the most frightful roller coaster ever in the extremes of the Twilight Zone. I think this is true of the national and international stage, as well as most of our personal lives.

    Let’s give thanks for warm homes, ample food, opportunities that come with persistence and hard work, and for having the blessing of having had a life in the United States of America.

    There are many fine peoples and countries out there. There are many people who are struggling with famine, disease and tyranny. While we give thanks for our blessings, let’s pray for those that have few of these. May the Holy Spirit renew the Earth…..as only He can.

    And, yes, we will pray that all people in the United States will have enough food and warmth this Thanksgiving so that they can find joy as well in the midst of this on-going isolation.

  8. You know, this last post was directed to Americans because we are celebrating our holiday tomorrow (Thursday), but these are my wishes for people of all countries. I know that there are many people of good will from around the world who regularly visit this board. I also wish you all safety, health, and inner peace as we face this ominous future. This includes Rey S, and anyone else with whom I may have had discussions or disagreements. I am direct and to the point but I never wish to personally offend anyone. We are all trying to discern and do our best as the honored flock of Jesus Christ, Our Wondrous Shepard and The God of Miracles. Many thanks to Our dear Blessed Mother for walking with us and leading us on the straight and narrow path to the greatest prize of all, the eternal, awesome Kingdom of God. May we all find our way and meet again when we are born into eternal life! And, for that, I give endless thanks as well!

      1. I love these old shows. That includes Andy Griffith and others. They took the simple things in life and created a story around them with great character actors. One never had to be concerned about what the kids were watching because it was all good plain fun and often thoughtful as well. ….. I never tire of watching them.

  15. You know, this video has nothing to do with anything we talk about on the board. But laughter is the best medicine. Did you know that this show has never been off the air? It has always been in syndication and on tv somewhere in the world. Imagine how all the smiles and laughter bind us together across cultures….. all over silly little things. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

      2. Kimsevier, I bought all the I Love Lucy epidsodes. I had watched them with my son when he was about 9 or 10 every Sunday night, and he would just about roll over laughing, and we always laughed together. Then I hoped to watch them with my grandson. (I hope he is watching in the Kingdom. I knew he would also roll over laughing one day.)……I always thought the underlying premise of I Love Lucy was somewhat believable in that a husband might put up with a crazy wife. I never thought Mr. Mooney was believable. The silly secretary of a banker would simply have been fired. ….Lucy and Desai were great performers. Vivian Vance said that Desai knew what was funny. He came up with the story lines. Lucy was a great physical comedian. In real life she was not comical. But if you gave her a script, she knew how to make it funny……You know, this is one of the reasons I learned Spanish. I always wanted to know what Ricky was saying to Lucy. I thought that this would be a great accomplishment. And now I know! He spoke wonderful Spanish. hah!

        2. Yes, St. J– when Ricky finds out that Lucy is pregnant and sings to her, and she tears up, you know that is genuine. I cry every time I watch it. I could watch her do the Vitameatavegimen commercial infinite times, as well as the candy making scene and the episode with Bill Holden– looking at him at the Brown Derby and later when she lit her fake nose on fire while lighting a cigarette. There is a reason this sitcom has never been off the air!
