Slouching Towards Sodom

The Destruction of Sodom – Pieter Segart

By Charlie Johnston

I think I have figured out the main reason why social media sites and establishment “news” outlets have gotten completely brazen in their censoring of conservatives and blocking any and all news that is detrimental to Democrats and the narrative. Perhaps you have heard that Twitter and Facebook are now banning people for showing the injuries they received from Antifa and BLM. Here is Isabella DeLuca showing pictures of her face after deranged leftists attacked her. Instagram and Facebook piled on and suspended her. Philip Anderson, a black man, had his front teeth knocked out by Antifa members for daring to participate in a free speech rally in San Francisco. Twitter and Facebook again piled on and kicked him off their sites for daring to show graphic evidence of what the left is actually doing at these “peaceful protests.” Congressman Paul Gosar (R-AZ), who is a dentist, offered to help Anderson get his smile back.

Social Media sites and many in the establishment press have largely figured out that their behavior has become so obviously ugly and egregious that, if Republicans win, those outlets are facing deadly scrutiny and legal jeopardy. They have already lost in that scenario, so they figure if they can just frantically gaslight for a couple more weeks and Democrats win, the peril goes away. Thus, they are now completely shameless – for they know they are in genuine mortal peril this time.

You may think an established press outlet is, ultimately, invulnerable. I have personal experience in this. In 1989-90 a 50-year-old local media company knowingly slimed me for a year when I was running for a little local county board seat. I was the tip of a very large spear in the county that did not fit their narrative. They were determined to destroy me, certain that my status as a legal “public figure” would protect them from any consequences. (It is extraordinarily difficult for a “public figure” to prevail in a libel case. The press can tell almost any lie they want about “public figures” within a very constrained set of rules.) When I decided to sue, all manner of friends and allies told me I must never get in a spitting match with people who buy ink by the barrel. I sued anyway. The settlement didn’t break the company – but publications treat settlements in such cases like a vampire treats Holy Water…and I knew what I was doing. I wasn’t trying to get rich, just get a large enough settlement that it could not be styled as a “nuisance settlement.” The paper’s libel insurance shot through the roof. It became very close to uninsurable. Within a decade, it folded entirely because it could not afford – (and struggled to obtain) – insurance under the existing ownership.

Contrary to conventional wisdom, if Trump and Republicans win big, many publications and broadcast sites – and all the social media sites – are going to be systematically dismantled. Those that fight will go bankrupt, some will go to jail for actual crimes they committed in furthering a massive conspiracy against the public – and the only realistic outcome for many will be to sell their news properties to new owners who have not discredited themselves. I know that many who think spouting conventional wisdom is actual wisdom will tell me this will never happen. Thanks, but I have done it before – and it will happen. The reason the press and social media are fighting frantically as if this is a fight for their very survival is, very simply, because it is.

These last few days, I find myself unexpectedly somewhat sympathetic to Hunter Biden. The evidence that is piling up (and it is documented and solid) is that he did NOT cynically use his father’s position to enrich himself. Rather, his father, Joe Biden, used Hunter as the bagman in one of the largest, most corrupt influence peddling schemes in American history. It is almost cynical enough to make the Clintons blush. Several observers have said that Joe pimped his son out – and that is not an inaccurate statement. In one email, Hunter complains of having to give half of everything he makes to “Pop.”

I once considered Joe Biden a somewhat comical figure due to his repeated plagiarism, false boasts, gaffes, and policy errors. The new revelations show him to be one of the most cynically corrupt figures ever in American life. He really is the equivalent of the head of a crime family. At least it explains how he became such a big multi-millionaire living on a government salary all his life. I am rarely shocked, but the depth of depravity revealed by Hunter Biden’s hard drive has left me shocked.

I use a different template for political analysis than anybody I have ever known. I respect data and traditional methods – and certainly take good advantage of them. But my fundamental method is to identify the fundamental theme that is running either overtly or subliminally in the public conscious – and then assess how parties and candidates are taking advantage of or being duped by that theme.

The plus side of this method over the years is that it has generally helped me to be more accurate than the polls – and to sniff out trends that everybody else is ignoring. In 1994, I predicted on air on my radio show in March that the Republicans were a dead lock to take over the House of Representatives after almost five decades in the wilderness. The day before election in 2016, I told a Christian broadcaster at dinner that I expected Donald Trump to win the presidency rather handily. The downside is that my fundamental method is based on a subjective judgment of the public mood – so when I am wrong I tend to be wildly wrong. Fortunately, those wild errors happened mostly when I was still local and gave me the chance to refine my technique. The only time I was caught completely flatfooted since assessing and being involved in national politics was in 2018. I did not ever see or suspect the massive shift in suburban alliances. In fact, I thought the bloody hearings over Brett Kavanaugh would illustrate clearly that Democrats were not to be trusted with power. While many times I had hoped and pushed for things to be different in certain cycles, I was never surprised until 2018.

A problem I have always had to correct for is that I am rarely wrong in seeing trends develop, but I am often two to four years ahead of the general public in seeing them. I also tend to give people more credit for discernment than they have earned. It was shocking to me that people could watch the smearing of Kavanaugh and still vote en masse for Democrats. Alas, a lot of those suburbanites deceived themselves that the viciousness of the left would only be deployed against heavyweights like Kavanaugh and Trump – and they would never personally be targeted. It is a sad consequence of the “me generation.” Fortunately, I suspect the eruption of Antifa and BLM violence and the rise of “cancel culture” has disabused suburbanites of that delusion.

The denizens of each party at the leadership level suffer from certain characteristic weaknesses. Republicans generally are timid – and desperate for an approving nod from establishment media. It is kind of pathetic – and has helped them snatch defeat from the jaws of victory many times. In the last 40 years, the biggest Republican victories have come when their key leaders were not burdened by such timidity. Ronald Reagan changed America’s political landscape – but though he is remembered reverently now, he was absolutely savaged by the country club Republicans who did not care for his plain speech and commitment to victory rather than getting along with people who were antithetical to liberty. Newt Gingrich was not the least bit intimidated when leading the charge to take over the House of Representatives – and never did give a hoot what the New York Times or the Washington Post said about him. He won one of the most smashing upsets in Congressional history. If ever there was a “damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead” candidate, it was Donald Trump. (Well, actually, Andrew Jackson fully fit that profile, too, but few Americans have even a passing familiarity with actual American history these days.) The “play it safe” crowd in the Republican Party – and usually it is the majority of the same – never delivers safety and rarely delivers victory. On the rare occasions when they are victorious, it is usually because Democrat pathologies in a cycle have been even more dominant than Republican pathologies.

Democrats always over-estimate their persuasiveness. They are so convinced they are on the winning end of the “arc of history” that they persuade themselves that every transient victory is a permanent realignment, then overplay their hand and are shocked when ordinary people repudiate their over-reach. They rely heavily on bullying tactics and ridicule to get their way. They have never figured out that convincing people to shut up is not the same as actually convincing them. Perhaps I am succumbing to the Democrats’ characteristic pathology, but I think they may have permanently discredited themselves with the wild over-reach these last two years. Democrats have a really weird predilection for disseminating propaganda they have crafted and then believing their own propaganda. They do an amazing job of gaslighting themselves. But that puts them at a disadvantage, even if it is not immediately obvious: they are almost always dealing with bad information. Garbage in, garbage out.

I think the imperative driving this cycle is voter anger at the authoritarian instincts and totalitarian aspirations of the ruling class. A large number of minorities have figured out the left does NOT care about them, but only wants to leverage them to obtain absolute power. As I said earlier, I think suburbanites have figured out the left is not just coming for Kavanaugh, Trump or Barrett, but is coming for them, too. Even some prominent leftists have been shaken by the imperial intolerance of the woke storm troopers of the left. I think Trump and Republicans will win a landslide victory of such epic proportions that it may signal the end of the Democratic Party, to be replaced ultimately by a liberal party that is not barking mad. Complicating all this is the frenzied certainty on the left that this is their breakthrough moment. That means the rioting, looting, arson and violence they have so fondly embraced are likely to play out after the election in an even more intensified form than the rest of this year. Even if we win so hugely at the ballot box that it is an unmistakable repudiation of the madness, we will have to fight for our liberty.

Of course, massive vote fraud is planned and already being mounted. But even if Democrats manufacture 15 million fraudulent votes I think they will be stunned to find it is not enough. Perhaps I am wrong and a plurality of Americans have become so lazy and degenerate that they are agreeable to being ruled. I am not agreeable to it. So if the left prevails – either by hook or by crook – I will imitate the founding generation of this country and refuse to submit. Constitutionally, in America, the people are sovereign. I know it has not played out that way in practice for about a hundred years now. But patriots will not go meekly into the dark night the left has planned for us. I think they are about to find the truth behind Kurt Schlichter’s admonition that Trump is not the right’s last chance; he is the left’s last chance. They will stand down or reap the whirlwind they have sown.

In Colorado we have a retention ballot for sitting judges. They do not face a contested election, but they must gain 55% of the vote at designated cycles after they have been appointed to keep their seats. We had a similar system in Illinois when I lived there. It is rare for a sitting judge to be ousted by these means. He really had to mess up badly somewhere along the way.

I did something I have never done before this cycle. I voted “no” on every judge who is either a Democrat or appointed by a Democrat. I am sure that some of them are fine people. But I have had it with the left talking about comity and such whenever a Democrat judge is involved – and bringing out the sharpened spikes, hot pokers, and the rack for even the gentlest Republican judges. Democrats must reform their party from within. I used to collaborate with a lot of Democrats. Right now, that once great party resembles a pack of snarling, rabid hyenas. If a person is content to remain in that party, seeing that on a daily basis, they are beneath my contempt. Should even a few work seriously for reform – to extend civility at all times and to all people, rather than just demanding it be offered to fellow rabid hyenas, I will consider them. But until I see that, I will go out of my way to find the partisan affiliation of every person on every ballot, including non-partisan races. No Democrat will ever get my vote again unless they completely overhaul and reform their party. I don’t like snarling, rabid hyenas – and I especially don’t like them in positions of power.

I know that these unprecedented times in our world are matched by unprecedented times in our Catholic Church. Pope Francis completely lost me last year at the Amazon Synod when he decided Christ must make room at the altar for pagan and pantheist deities (Pachamama). He doubled down by having the Vatican issue a Pachamama commemorative coin. His encyclical, Fratelli Tutti, is feckless, deceptive and would be a profound break with Catholic tradition and teaching if it were allowed to stand. Yet I think the challenge of the times is to us – and most intimately to the Bishops of the world. The question is how do we live fidelity to Christ and the hierarchy He established under the governance of a Pope who has clearly made himself an opponent of the faith. I am not ignoring it, but I am thinking and studying long and hard on it. I will have a piece on this critical subject up in the next couple of weeks. A year ago, I thought the offering to Pachamama accepted on the altar by Pope Francis was the “abomination which makes desolate.” If we have chased Christ from His altar, well, that would explain a lot about this insane and desolate year.

  1. The Pope is trying to influence the election and a lot of people will follow his lead and vote for Joe.

My husband was watching “Wheel Of Fortune” and Dora M.of CBS asked someone to commit on the FBI story as soon as the news broke and he said the “Proud Boys” were the ones telling people to vote for Trump or else . i can’t get my husband to stay off the radical left tv and ballgames.

Today my signs brought a lot of waves or thank you: one guy started to shake his head no and stand between my signs and the cars leaving the Catholic Church and school; I just raised the Trump sign well over his head. Right away a passenger said “why are you shaking your head” He then turned around and saw what I was doing. He told me the President was going to lose bad and that he would be back. Later 3 police cars showed up and asked if everything was ok and I said a bike rider even said “Back the Blue” which was one of my signs. The police said we would win!

  2. Archbishop Viganò on Pope’s Support of Homosexual Unions: Francis is Trying to Provoke a Schism

    DECLARATION
    of His Excellency
    Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò
    about the documentary film Francesco

Rome, October 21st, 2020 – The Vatican News website[1] has reported the news that today at the Rome Film Festival a documentary film will be screened called Francesco made by director Evgeny Afineevsky.

This documentary – according to what has been reported by Catholic News Agency[2] and America Magazine[3] – makes public several pronouncements of Jorge Mario Bergoglio on the topic of homosexuality. Among the various statements, these two are particularly disconcerting:

“Homosexuals have a right to be a part of the family. They’re children of God and have a right to a family. Nobody should be thrown out, or be made miserable because of it.”

“What we have to create is a civil union law. That way they are legally covered. I stood up for that.”

One does not have to be a theologian or a moral expert to know that such statements are totally heterodox and constitute a very serious cause of scandal for the faithful.

But pay careful attention: these words simply constitute the umpteenth provocation by which the “ultra-progressive” part of the Hierarchy wants to artfully provoke a schism, as it has already tried to do with the Post-Synodal Exhortation Amoris Laetitia, the modification of doctrine on the death penalty, the Pan-Amazon Synod and the filthy Pachamama, and the Abu Dhabi Declaration which has now been reaffirmed and aggravated by the Encyclical Fratelli Tutti.

It appears that Bergoglio is impudently trying to “raise the stakes” in a crescendo of heretical affirmations, in such a way that it will force the healthy part of the Church – which includes bishops, clergy, and faithful – to accuse him of heresy, in order to declare that healthy part of the Church schismatic and “the enemy of the Pope.”

Jorge Mario Bergoglio is trying to force some Cardinals and Bishops to separate themselves from communion with him, obtaining as a result not his own deposition for heresy but rather the expulsion of Catholics who want to remain faithful to the perennial Magisterium of the Church. This trap would have the purpose – in the presumed intentions of Bergoglio and his “magic circle” – of consolidating his own power within a church that would only nominally be “Catholic” but in reality would be heretical and schismatic.

This deception draws on the support of the globalist élite, the mainstream media and the LGBT lobby, to which many clergy, bishops, and cardinals are no strangers. Furthermore, let us not forget that in many nations there are laws in force which criminally punish anyone who considers sodomy reprehensible and sinful or who does not approve of the legitimization of homosexual “matrimony” – even if they do so on the basis of their Creed. A pronouncement by the bishops against Bergoglio on a question like homosexuality could potentially lead civil authority to prosecute them criminally, with the approval of the Vatican.

Bergoglio would thus have on his side not only the “deep church” represented by rebels like Father James Martin, S.J., and those who promote the German “Synodal Path,” but also the “deep state.” It is not surprising that in the documentary there is also an endorsement of the Democratic candidate in the upcoming American presidential election, along with a disconcerting condemnation of the policy of the Trump Administration, which is accused of separating families that want to enter the United States illegally, while the reality is that the President is confronting human trafficking and the trafficking of minors.

Thus, while conservative American bishops are forbidden from intervening in the political debate in support of President Trump, the Vatican allows itself to casually interfere in the elections in favor of his Democratic adversary, in union with the censorship by social and news media of the very serious accusations against the Biden family.

As Catholics, we are called to side with those who defend life, the natural family, and national sovereignty. We thought that we had the Vicar of Christ at our side. We painfully acknowledge that, in this epochal clash, he who ought to be guiding the Barque of Peter has chosen to side with the Enemy, in order to sink it. Recalling the courage of the Holy Pontiffs in defending the integrity of the Faith and promoting the salvation of souls, one can only observe: Quantum mutatus ab illis![4]

    1. This is quite a statement. I notice that he refers to “Jorge Mario Bergoglio” ~ which, if I understand correctly, is insider code for “not the legitimate Pope” because of some alleged election irregularities and/or the theory that Pope Benedict XVI did not retire voluntarily. I know that Charlie does not agree with the illegitimacy concept.

Saint Pope John Paul II the Great, pray for us.

      1. St. Bear, I’ve also noticed that some refer to Pope Francis as simply Bergoglio when speaking to or writing about exasperation with both the Pope’s ambiguous ways of expression and his deeds with which the writer/speaker does not agree.

  3. Beckita, yes, the Pope wants to divide the church and he also wants what the radicals want with so many priests following him; he has backed Joe I was told.

Where I was from 7am-10am was a very busy street with 3 other schools and a mother’s day out at another church. Another girl was at the other end of the street. We have gone there for 2 days and now will move to another area.

  4. Thank you for your response to the statements and actions of Francis, Archbishop Vigano. No, one does not have to be a theologian or a moral expert to see that this is heretical. May God bless you for your courage and clarity! Today was a culmination of shocking actions and statements from the Vatican. I truly feel shattered by today’s two new events and only a theologian such as you could lift my heart on this day. Yes, it may be that they are actually trying to trigger a schism. That would make things easier for all the liberal wing of the Church to usher in their plans……I sometimes feel like I am living in an alternative universe. Everything has become somewhat surreal.

May the Peace of Christ fill each of us, Judith, as we have a Cloud of Witnesses who have carried their share of the Cross when they walked the earth and the Church Triumphant is brimming with Saints and Angels willing to be with us at a moment’s notice if we say but the word, inviting them to help us.

I think it’s the time for the Prayer of Miraculous Trust to have a central place in our prayers. Praying a PMT for you, Dear Judith, and sending you Mary Magdalen to bring you Christ’s Peace in new and refreshing ways.

      2. I thought the same thing yesterday of Charlie’s title and the next day the Vatican announcement.

When Pope Francis was first elected, the part in The Green Mile movie where John Coffey tells the Tom Hanks character “careful, careful” as the other officers brought Wild Bill in the prison played over and over in my head for several days. It came out of nowhere. I hadn’t watched the film in years. Wondering if it was God’s way of telling me to neither go too far right or too far left in reaction to this new pope. I hadn’t thought of that time until yesterday when the info came out. Staying put, but oh the flood of grace needed for all of us!!

  5. Beckita,

I think you have some excellent points. We must cut out the cancer that has been growing in the Vatican hierarchy. Our Pope continues to do and write about topics that are scandalous to the informed faithful not to mention good bishops and priests. It is so disappointing that this Pope, existing at this point in history is at the center of one of the most intense battle for souls. Many of us are not surprised by his acceptance of the growing scandals and would have hoped that our Pope would be doing everything he could by proclaiming Christ courageously, and truthfully, the deposit of faith, and without exception to the Catholics and to the whole world. This would help to assure his bishops, priests and their flocks that with prayer to God we can make it through these times as long as we take the next right step after a fall. Undoubtedly, we will fall, have doubts, go through hardships and suffering, and I am sure even more. These are things that must be given to God.

Jesus gives us special graces and protection to us as we carry our unique cross(that includes even our once trusted Cardinals and other Church Authorities) assigned to us by God. This should be viewed as a privileged gift from God to demonstrate our commitment to Him. In accepting this course of action, we must realize it is not only for our benefit but is also for those in our families and those around in giving them a sign of hope.

As we seek to follow the Truth, we find ourselves fighting against the leftist’s lying, deceitful, disingenuous, and evil persuasions that can be defeated only thru Our Lord and thereby create a peace within us. Remember that God looks into our hearts to know whether we seek Him, or those who cling to stay in the world due to pride, and evil desires to maintain their power and wealth.
I pray for God’s intervention to remove the evil plans being openly presented. And with Our Lord’s faithful Bishops, Priests, and Authorities standing next to them, we can stop this schism or dampen it until it drowns it its own ocean of darkness.

  8. According to the Lord,
the present time is the time of the Spirit and of witness,
but also a time still marked by “distress”
and the trial of evil which does not spare the Church
and ushers in the struggles of the last days.
It is a time of waiting and watching….
Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial
that will shake the faith of many believers…
The Church will enter the glory of the kingdom
    only through this final Passover,
when she will follow her Lord in his death and Resurrection.

    1. The only clarification I would add to Mark’s quote, lest anyone be confused, is that we are not entering the time of the Second Coming which has been traditionally taught by the Church. As many clergy have stressed when speaking to the approved apparitions by the Church of our times and as Charlie has often stressed, this may feel like the end of the world but it’s not. We are transitioning to the time of which Our Lady of Fatima foretold: her Immaculate Heart will Triumph completely when we will enter a period of peace on earth.

  9. Luisa Piccarreta’s Hours of the Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ was posted before here and on Veil of Veronica’s blog.

For any who might have missed it or those who have been forced to be in lockdown, with too much time on your hands, etc, check it out. Susan has links on her Veil of Veronica blog site.

If you are exhausted, depressed, etc., there is real consolation and strength here. At least I am finding that true. I have searched the world over for any/all consolation in the wake of my son’s suicide and what’s going on in the world outside my family. So there’s that.

A word of caution. It is very difficult to read and understand/comprehend. It feels scarily inauthentic to read that SOG’s words in each hour. Also it is a huge piece and maybe started but maybe not finished, even with every good intention.

Anyways, that’s okay, if you feel the wee bit of interest in this, don’t let that stop you. A friend once told me: “Anything worth doing, is worth doing badly.” I love this, it is my mantra. So in this spirit I read it and by the grace of God hope to continue. Also, I skipped the many pages of the intro, because it was too much to digest for my poor brain, and de-motivated me from moving forward. So I ditched that part. 😀

    Onward and forward, squirrels!

If you have any questions, stop and ask Him, and He will answer you.

I bought each one of my six kids a copy for Lent last year, and only three of them read it, and only one continues.,

Don’t ask me how or why, as often there is an awful lot of darkness and trust involved here, Lol. 😀

This book is helping me so much. Coming up on 3rd anniv. of son’s death, also my 95 y.o. Mom is moved to a nsg home. Sibs and I are rehoming all our parents earthly possessions, selling their home, etc. It is a completely overwhelming time for me, personally and wider-world-wise. But TYG I can also feel a sense of gratitude for my parents and all they have done for us. I wish I could care for my Mom, guilt there. There are some bright spots, too. Our oldest just got engaged.

The last of our parents line passed 6 years ago. It now feels peaceful, They all have been “tucked in”. Like when we tucked in the children at night. It was a peaceful feeling. In a way, I am grateful they don’t have to see what is going on in our country now, them being veterans of WW2 and the Korean War. Friends and relatives dying for freedom for our world and country. Now, approximately half the country wants a socialist for a president.

  10. I believe Pope Francis was allowed to take power, so people would wake up to the anti-Church, the only way to restore the Church is to bring the anti-Church into the open and separate the goats from the sheep. The separation of Church and anti-Church isn’t complete yet, we have to endure until it’s complete. How all these things happen? We don’t know, we can only guess & guess wrong, be patient God is in control.

Look to wisdom of the saints and the John Paul II.

I’ve never thought about the politics as a part of the bible stories before, but Fr.DL is very good in showing the correlation of history to what is playing out now. Charlie’s been emphasizing the saying all along that God writes straight with crooked lines. I pray our crooked lines straighten out quickly, but all in His time, of course.

  11. Al,
    I’ve contemplated that possibility
    myself.
A few Seers have been told PF was chosen for these times and it is possible his unpresidented friendliness towards the fallen has brought out the wolves in the hierarchy who are pushing a false agenda because of it. No different than what happened after V2 when so much was done in its “spirit” to undermine the faith.
I can only hope the Church will descern this carefully and people won’t rush to leave the Arch. Obviously PF has no authority to change doctrine, his role being to uphold that which was taught by Christ. These tumbles usually bring about eventual clarification and that is my hope and expectation. We just have to remember this is Jesus’ church and the gates of hell cannot prevail even if they rattle loudly at times!

If you’re confused to what is the truth, look to Pope John Paul II for the truth, somehow he knew (with the guidance of the Holy Spirit) what we would face in time and gave us the tools & knowledge we need if we only look for it.

The anti-Church won’t be fully revealed until it think’s it won over the True Church like when Christ was crucified, and there’s probably going to be a delay before it’s defeat, as Christ rose from the dead on the 3rd day, so we might have to wait while the enemy pridefully gloats over it’s perceived victory.

    2. Yes Al, this is Jesus’ church and we need to pray for any pope that is given to us. Not all popes will be remembered as great popes in the history of the Catholic Church. In fact, not even 100 popes out of 266 so far have been declared saints or blessed. On the other hand, it might be comforting to a regular man like me that even a pope might screw up, though this one seems to screw up a lot…

  13. On a bright side, today on the feast of St. John Paul II, The Constitutional Tribunal in Poland, aka kind of Polish Supreme Court (actually it is a body that can overrule Supreme Court in Poland if something is unconstitutional), ruled it is unconstitutional to do eugenic abortions in Poland ( even if “fetus” is very likely to develop a serious disease ). Here is a positive irony in it since the Constitutional Tribunal was established by “the communist government of the People’s Republic of Poland after the introduction of martial law, an attempt to crush political opposition.”

  15. Charlie’s Tools for Discernment post may apply here.

I, like others, trust Vigano to get it right.

But what if Vigano did not read the source?

I have read of some ambiguity in the translation of The Pope’s language .

    1. I trust Archbishop Vigano’s discernment. As Papal Nuncio, he has had a long history as an insider concerning the inner workings of the Vatican. SO ill-advised were those comments made by Pope Francis about same-sex civil unions. I have had some new Catholics say to me in these last two days that it seems all Church Teaching then is open to change. Doctrine and dogma are unshakeable, forever firm teachings. I have noticed many a left-leaning Catholic on FB receive the Pope’s recent words with great joy as they repeat the secular news mantra which is re-echoing round the world… that same-sex unions are approved by the Church. Of course, they’re not. Of course, no official change has been made by the Church.

There is a history now in this Papacy of confusing remarks made without any follow-up clarification. Again, there have been times when Pope Francis not only fails to clarify, but actually refuses to do so… such as the case of the Dubia as well as the incident concerning journalist’s question on the plane as this Pope was flying back to Rome after the World Family gathering in Ireland when Vigano first wrote publicly of problems with Pope Francis. The Pope refused to reply to the question of the reporter and, instead, visibly agitated, told all the journalists to go out and do their jobs and find out more about the situation themselves because he would not say one word about what Vigano wrote.

I, too, have read of the claim that the translation had ambiguity… however, not according to an Argentine Bishop who has been a longtime theological advisor to Pope Francis: https://www.catholicnewsagency.com/news/argentine-archbishop-and-pope-francis-advisor-says-civil-union-not-mistranslated-in-documentary-95995

Since we don’t link to the NCR due to its flagrant distortion of Magisterial Teaching, I’ll post the text of an article from there – by Christopher White – which reports Bishop Strickland’s take on this newest mess stirred up Pope Francis. I cannot find this news at any other site and it deserves to be noted:

The Catholic bishop of Tyler, Texas, a vocal opponent of Pope Francis, has invited the pontiff to fire him.

In a new interview, Bishop Joseph Strickland characterized the long delay of the release of the Vatican’s report on former Cardinal Theodore McCarrick as “evil” and said that “if I get fired for saying that, for not being politically correct, go ahead and fire me.”

Strickland also accused both the Vatican and the United States of having a “deep state,” saying the papacy lacks clarity and Pope Francis’ recent comments in support of civil unions for same sex-couples are “confusing and very dangerous.”

“The church is weak. The church is not clear,” he told radio host Cy Kellett on Oct. 21.

“We were relying on the papacy to be this beacon of clarity and stability, and it just doesn’t feel clear and stable anymore,” Kellet said to Strickland during a webinar on “Forming the Catholic Conscience in a World of Confusion,” sponsored by the multimedia organization Catholic Answers.

“Sadly, I have to support that,” Strickland replied.

His remarks came on the same day in which Francis reaffirmed his long-standing support for civil unions, which Strickland dismissed as mere opinion.

“A pope could have had opinions contrary to the deposit of faith 500 years ago,” he said, suggesting that the widespread availability of new media and developed forms of communications has altered the way papal pronouncements are received around the world.

“What’s getting broadcast around the world is Pope Francis’ opinion on this, and I think that is confusing and very dangerous,” adding “there are evil forces that would love to destroy the Catholic Church.”

Strickland, who is 61 years old and was made a bishop in 2012, is among the most vocally partisan members of the U.S. hierarchy. In September, he endorsed a viral video made by a Wisconsin priest who claimed “you cannot be Catholic and be a Democrat.” In 2018, when the now disgraced former papal nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, accused Francis of mishandling abuse and called for his resignation, within 24 hours Strickland deemed Viganò’s charges to be credible and asked that his statement be distributed at all Masses in his diocese.

During the hourlong webinar, he recalled meeting with Pope Francis this past January during his ad limina visits at the Vatican with other bishops from Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma, which he described as “very pleasant, but I’d have to say too pleasant.”

“The world is falling apart and Pope Francis was very cordial, very welcoming, but like I said, I mean, when a leg has been severed and we’re bleeding out, I don’t think we really need cordial and welcoming. We need something more,” he said on Wednesday evening.

“I certainly don’t put it all on Pope Francis. The machine of the Vatican, there is evil there. There is darkness in the Vatican. I mean, that’s very clear,” said the Texas bishop.

The bishop, who is well known for all-caps Twitter diatribes against the Democratic Party, the evils of abortion and against gay marriage, seemed to indicate that the evil that he believes has permeated much of the government also permeates the church.

“Ultimately, it’s just documented fact that there is a deep state in the United States,” he told the 2,000 registered viewers for the webinar. “There is a lot of manipulation of the truth by the media, by the government, by people with money. I think that’s pretty well documented and sadly, it’s the same with the church.

He also said that in the same way there are “cafeteria Catholics” who are “picking and choosing” elements of Catholic teaching to support, he said that many bishops are doing the same.

“There are bishops that are clearly teaching contrary to what Catholic teaching is,” adding that they are “playing fast and loose with what God has revealed to us.”

While Pope Francis has made strides to elevate the process of synodality, a longstanding church practice emphasizing the collaboration of local bishop conferences and local churches in communion with the global church, Strickland offered a stark criticism of it.

Strickland said that “very little good news” came from the Vatican’s 2018 Synod of Bishops on young people and that “All this synodality is garbage as far as I’m concerned.”

“It just is not living the truth,” he said.

Strickland was especially critical of the current German “synodal path,” in which the church has vowed to have an open discussion on matters related to women’s ordination, gay marriage and more. Strickland revealed that he had written a letter to the archbishops in Germany warning that they must protect the “deposit of faith.”

“They probably never even read my letter,” he surmised, warning that the bishops are responsible for “confusion” and leading Catholics to believe that “same-sex marriage is fine, the gender issues are fine, all the agenda of LGBT are fine.”

“Germany is in trouble as a church,” warned the American bishop.

      1. I’m truly baffled as to why so many find his remarks ambiguous. A snippet taken out of context? Then where’s the quick and necessary clarification from the Vatican? No time for that… but, all the time in the world to scold the truly faithful. I will not give Pope Francis a pass on this. This issue has been settled since Genesis Chapter 5.

      2. Imagine the heap of trouble we would be in if Bergoglio got elected to Pope in 2005 instead of 2013. Cardinal Ratzinger beat to him to Pope and by God’s mercy lessened the turbulent times being created by Pope Francis. The 100 year anniversary of Fatima might of ended differently.

        1. It’s an interesting thought, Al. I have wondered at how different it all would have developed had the Church responded fully to Our Lady of Fatima in 1917. Ah well. Here we are. Perhaps more fruitful, now, is imagining how we can make the CORAC principles come alive in our own locales as we strive to take TNRS, however God is directing each of us..

          1. I believe we’re in the middle scenario, the early Popes didn’t take Fatima seriously, but Popes John Paul II & Benedict XVI did Fatima seriously and intervened to prevent worst case scenario.

It seems evil is trying to take over the Church from the top-down, so a top-down approach probably won’t work, maybe CORAC is what’s needed.

    1. Absolutely evil! And the media gets upset when Fauci is criticized. He’ll answer to God when he leaves this earth, if not before. I read long ago that he is part of the deep state. Oh boy, the Holy Spirit sure has a lot of blindness to heal! Here’s the kicker from the Lifesite article:

“Indeed, the European drugs regulator said recently that its safety committee was reviewing reports of ACUTE kidney injury in some COVID-19 patients who had been given remdesivir. A noted researcher concluded: “Remdesivir can cause severe kidney failure (requiring dialysis, kidney transplant), liver failure, genetic mutation, heart problems up to cardiac arrest, among others. This is the truth.”

Another source said we “strongly believe that Veklury (remdesivir) is a HARMFUL drug and that this evidence has been concealed by Gilead. We believe that the lobbying operation conducted in the media and certain public health authorities in order to discredit hydroxychloroquine, specifically in hospitals, was intended to make Velkury (remdesivir) the only solution in this situation.”

  17. Archbishop Vigano speaks again: https://www.lifesitenews.com/opinion/ap-vigano-here-is-what-popes-ambiguous-statements-are-doing-to-the-church

Here are but a few excerpts. The entire article is worth the read for the insights and observations which the Archbishop expresses. (Bold text my own)

I think that both the simple faithful as well as bishops and priests feel betrayed by what Bergoglio has affirmed. It is not necessary to be theologians to understand that the approval of civil unions is in clear contradiction of the Magisterial documents of the Church, including recent ones. Such approval also constitutes a very grave “assist” to the LGBTQ ideology which today is being imposed on the global level.

In the coming days the Italian Parliament will be discussing the approval of the so-called Zan law [against so-called “homophobia”] proposed by the Democratic Party (PD). In the name of protecting homosexuals and trans-sexuals, it will be considered a crime to affirm that the natural family is the building block of human society, and those who affirm that sodomy is a sin that cries out to God for vengeance will be punished. Bergoglio’s words have already been received by the gay lobby worldwide as an authoritative support for their claims…

After all, experience teaches us that when Bergoglio says something, he does it with a very precise purpose: to make others interpret his words in the broadest possible sense. The front pages of newspapers all over the world are announcing today: “The Pope Approves Gay Marriage” – even if technically this is not what he said. But this was exactly the result that he and the Vatican gay lobby wanted…

Bergoglio has declared: “Homosexuals have a right to be a part of the family. They’re children of God and have a right to a family. Nobody should be thrown out, or be made miserable because of it.” All the baptized are children of God: this is what the Gospel teaches. But these children may be either good or evil, and if they break God’s Commandments, the fact that they are His children will not prevent them from being punished, just as an Italian who steals does not avoid going to prison solely because of the fact that he is a citizen of the nation where he commits the crime. The Mercy of God does not prescind from Justice, and if we think of how in order to redeem us the Lord shed His Blood on the Cross, we cannot but strive for holiness, conforming our behavior to His will. Our Lord has said: “You are my friends, if you do what I command you” (Jn 15:14)

In fact, I would say that it is part of Bergoglio’s intended behavior that he plays with equivocation and provocation – such as when he said, “God is not Catholic,” or when he leaves it to others to finish a discourse which he initiates. We have seen this with Amoris Laetitia: although he did not clearly contradict Catholic doctrine on the impossibility of the divorced and remarried accessing the Sacraments, he allowed other bishops to do so, later approving their statements and stubbornly remaining silent in response to the Dubia of the four Cardinals.

    1. Archbishop Vigano’s closing thoughts are sorrowful beyond all telling and I believe they are spot on as to the nature of this greatest historical confrontation humanity has gone through which Pope St: John Paul II said is between the Church and the anti-Church, the Gospel versus the anti-Gospel and the spirit of anti-Christ against Christ Himself.

Also from Archbishop Vigano in the above mentioned article:
“And it is exactly this, in my opinion, that Bergoglio’s “magic circle” wants to achieve: to reach the paradoxical situation in which the one who is recognized as Pope is at the same time in a state of schism with the Church he governs, while those who are declared by him to be schismatic for disobedience will find themselves expelled from the Church because of the fact that they are Catholic.

Bergoglio’s action is above all directed outside the Church. The encyclical Fratelli Tutti is an ideological manifesto in which there is nothing Catholic and nothing for Catholics – it is the umpteenth embrassons-nous [“let’s embrace”] of the Masonic matrix, in which universal brotherhood is obtained not, as the Gospel teaches, in recognizing the common fatherhood of God through belonging to the one Church, but rather by the flattening of all religions into a lowest common denominator that is expressed in solidarity, respect for the environment, and pacifism.

With this way of acting, Bergoglio is a candidate for “pontiff” of a new religion, with new commandments, new morals, and new liturgies. He distances himself from the Catholic religion and from Christ, and consequently from the Hierarchy and the faithful, disavowing them and leaving them at the mercy of the globalist dictatorship. Those who do not adapt to this new code will therefore be ostracized by society and by this new “church” as a foreign body.”

A great test of faith upon us. How will each one choose?

The Mercy of God IS incredibly awesome, beauty beyond words and healing to the depth of our being. At the same time, His JUSTICE is the VERY FIBER of His MERCY. One does not exist without the other. As Cardinal Sarah recently reiterated, God DOES forgive every sin… yet, we MUST first repent and express our contrition.

Two Scriptural passage come to mind:
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many deeds of power in your name?’ Then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; go away from me, you evildoers.’ (Matthew 7:21-23)

      Another:
And will not God grant justice to his chosen ones who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long in helping them? I tell you, he will quickly grant justice to them. And yet, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?” (Luke 18:7-8)

  18. Lastly, we shall see what develops from the latest announcement concerning the proposed plan to cancel Midnight Mass at the Vatican this year.

Another observation and excellent insight from Archbishop Vigano:

“Three days ago, the press announced that the Pope will not celebrate Midnight Mass on Christmas. I will limit myself to one observation: a few days ago, in the midst of the full-fledged “Covid emergency,” it was possible to celebrate an ecumenical rite in the presence of the faithful and the civil authorities, all wearing masks. And yet, on the contrary, someone has decided that it would be imprudent to celebrate the Birth of the Savior on the Holy Night of Christmas in the far vaster space of the Vatican Basilica.

If this decision is confirmed, we will know that Jorge Mario Bergoglio prefers to celebrate himself by supporting the mainstream thought and syncretistic ideology of the New World Order, rather than kneeling at the foot of the manger where the King of Kings is placed.”

Others would be “Ignore authority and tradition”, “lie with impugnity” , “strategic ambivilence”, …

I’m not returning to that church! Apostasy! To say all religions are equal is deny Jesus is Christ. To tell people to stop praying is wrong. Love flows from God outwards to us and through us, not the other way around.

The online mass gave a sermon of Loving God first and above all things helps us to humbly, ethically, & properly set our priorities with self & neighbour, and also added we should give up some of toys that we distract ourselves with to show more love to God. I’d say that’s more bang-on and fall in-line with what St. Therese of Lisieux would do & say.

    1. He’s not on my list of favorite prelates… yet. I will say the Washington D.C. Archdiocese is historically an important See so that the tradition is whoever is Archbishop there is eventually elevated to becoming a Cardinal.

      1. The first Black Cardinal in U.S. history… and it has to be Archbishop Gregory?

Time to go beat my head against a wall, and then pray for him.

        1. Right now not so, San San, but I have never stopped praying for Archbishop Gregory after Charlie shared his experience of being given a mystical light concerning the potential of the Archbishop should he respond to grace. Not giving up til it’s over.

  24. You know how I question this whole “We” frame when approaching cultural/political matters, well in light of Sodom, Lot’s wife went with “We”.

I suspect The Laptop From Hell, will seperate the Lot’s wife types from the faithful.

“Dear children! I am with you for so long because God is great in His love and in my presence. I am calling you, little children: return to God and to prayer. May the measure of your [way of] living be love and do not forget, little children, that prayer and fasting work miracles in you and around you. May everything you do be for the glory of God, and then Heaven will fill your heart with joy and you will feel that God loves you and is sending me to save you and the earth on which you live. Thank you for having responded to my call.”

      1. Amen to that Beckita!!! I had to work all last week so my quiet reflective life got upside down!!! Yikes!!! I’m praying for calm and peace but to be totally honest…my spirit feels very revved up here lately!!! I’m sure we are all feeling this way as we get closer to the election! Thank you again Charlie for all your good advice! Namely; acknowledge God, take the next right step and try to be a sign of hope to those whom God puts in your path!🤗

    1. Sympathy for a pedophile? Wow , I dismissed it when you rebuked me on the old site when I said Trump was exposing all these evil people. You didn’t see it yet, Charlie. You have been correct on sooo many things. In fact I still believe you were correct on what was to happen in 2017. Perhaps you don’t even see that yet. But sympathy for Hunter , and many others like him , I cannot stand for. If someone can explain to me if a soul can be eternally lost while still on earth alive , I’d like to know. Because there certainly those who will soon be in the spotlight who fit the bill.

      1. Is pedophilia an horrific sin? Absolutely. So ugly. SO damaging in deeply long-lasting ways for the victim. Can Jesus heal that victim? He most definitely can and those who support the victim must do all in their power to facilitate that healing using both natural and supernatural means.

Jesus said to St. Faustina: “I perform works of mercy in every soul. The greater the sinner, the greater the right he has to My mercy. My mercy is confirmed in every work of My hands. He who trusts in My mercy will not perish, for all his affairs are Mine, and his enemies will be shattered at the base of My footstool. (Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, 723)

We have no idea of what in a pedophile’s history causes such a dark perversion to emerge. There are statistics which point to the reality that many an abused one in childhood goes on, as an adult, to abuse others in the same way. Nevertheless, a pedophile in this life needs to be held to account for his/her crimes. Such behavior demands justice. At the same time, Jesus’ teaching is clear when it comes to judging hearts and souls: “Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.” (Matthew 7:1-2)

In answer to your wondering: “If someone can explain to me if a soul can be eternally lost while still on earth alive , I’d like to know.” The Church teaches that God’s Mercy is available until the day we die and our personal judgement is complete. And His Mercy is without limitation, as we can see from the quote above from St. Faustina’s Diary… and there are uber examples of such teachings for us about the Mercy of God in what Jesus told St. Faustina.

It seems you’ve not kept up with reading Charlie’s site as he’s continued to write, lead and guide those who are in this community of readers with some who comment regularly, John. No harm in coming and going other than missing out on topics that have been discussed and settled. Charlie has owned the errors in interpretation and in great respect to his Archbishop, who Charlie has always obeyed, we’re not re-interpreting prophecies on this site as the Archbishop has exhorted us not to do so.

        God’s Blessings, John.

        1. Thank you ,Beckita. In my heart I know the answer. I thought I would ask . I have my faith in all here. I know this small group is very important. I’m always following because of that. I just am selfishly asking God for some justice to give some hope for his flock.
          Let his will be done.

          1. It’s a gift to share in this community, John, and you do belong here with us. God’s Justice IS prevailing and His Justice is as important as His Mercy. I agree with you that sometimes it’s hard to wait for the messes to be resolved. The Cloud of Witnesses who have gone before us have felt it too. There’s more than a few Psalms which express crying out to God for His Intervention. Let’s put our hope in Him. He is always faithful. Praying that Holy Spirit descends upon you with new measures of strength and peace.

          2. John of Arc, Beckita has given many of us wonderful insights and kept a lot of us on track, so I can’t narrow down on what her finest contribution has been. There are so many. I think I *can* point to one that is well up on the list, and it is quite appropriate here in this discussion. She has said (I hope I get this right, Beckita) that “Justice is the very fiber of God’s Mercy.” No matter a pedophilic fault or the everyday faults we all fault into, I think every one of us gets God’s Mercy *and* God’s Justice – two sides of the same coin.

          3. There is a passage in the Bew Testament, an Epistle, if I recall correctly where an Apostle speaks of a christian sleeping with his father’s wife.

You see both justice and mercy in that passage.

      2. Hi John, sympathy for a pedophile-sympathy being an emotion, I haven’t any. Mercy-yes, Jesus died on the cross for all of us, every last one of us. If we want Jesus’ mercy for ourselves, we have to extend it to all. I’ll let the courts deal with the justice. I wouldn’t trust myself with that great decision.

  26. Dearest Beckita,
I want to access the photographic memory of yours. Could you refresh my memory please? At least four years ago Charlie had written about ships and ship wrecks happening close to the coast but they gave up. They were so close to the shore and didn’t even know it. That is about all I can remember. I do remember feeling encouraged however. i need that now with the election so close and the darkness so thick. Thank you ahead of time.

    1. HTTP, you’ve got a good memory yourself. As I recall, Charlie read a bit of research – or perhaps it was a story – just as you noted, that when a ship wrecked, those who were swimming to the safety of the shores often gave up near the end of the swim when they were within very close proximity to the shoreline. This is an analogy to what it will be like for us in the toughest days of the Storm. We’ve got to hold on, building each other up while pressing on in solidarity. Charlie’s role as Sherpa – and we all share in this role – is to guide, hearten and defend us as we walk through the Storm, including the darkest of days yet to come, always remaining faithful to acknowledge God and take our next rights steps and He will make of us a sign of hope.

„Draga djeco! U ovom vremenu zovem vas da se vratite Bogu i molitvi. Zazivajte sve svete u pomoć da bi vam oni bili primjer i pomoć. Sotona je jak i bori se da što više srca sebi privuče. Želi rat i mržnju.

Seeing the videos over the weekend was awesome with all the parades, etc., especially compared with the invisible crowds for Biden, yippee!! Even Beverly Hills had Trump crowds!

  31. Some news just came to my attention, globalist traitor Trudeau has been sneaking Chinese military into Canada for a takeover of North America. If Americans don’t stop Biden from stealing the election, it’s the end of democracy & freedom in North America.

      1. Take your pick:
        DuckDuckGo “china military in canada”
The majority of their forces are in Alberta (the capitalist/conservative part of Canada).
If Trump pulls it off, he should look at Judas-Trudeau North of the boarder before going after China if he does a sneak attack.

          1. Google owns YouTube. Zuckerberg is Soros’ grandson. The globalists own the internet. If you’re using a computer use GNU Icecat or Opera web browsers instead of the mainstream browser, then search with a search engine like DuckDuckGo. If you use social media, don’t put any information on those accounts that can be used to track you down.

          2. Google & Facebook have options to delete stuff, not sure reliable those methods are. If it wasn’t a crisis right now, I’d just delete the social media accounts, people need to be brave and use social media to get the message out there before it’s too late. Use a Internet cafe or portal with a laptop with a Linux OS installed on it if you’re worried about your YouTube viewing being monitored.
