Praying in Solidarity

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle…

Yesterday evening I received an email from one of my spiritual mothers: Stella Davis. She asked for prayer support as tomorrow morning, Wednesday June 3rd, she, accompanied by some of the women from her apostolate, Christian Women in Action, will be on a mission of deliverance while Stella leads the prayers for cleansing our Nation’s Capital of demonic influence.

God bless Stella who is a nonagenarian and says she’ll die with her boots on. She is a lay evangelist who has ministered internationally and is also a seasoned veteran in deliverance ministry, so much so that she has addressed many an International Conference on Exorcism and Deliverance. Stella is continually consulted, from around the world, by exorcists and individuals involved in deliverance ministry.

In great wisdom, Stella answered the call on her life by developing an apostolate with people who are willing to support her via back-up prayer whenever she goes out to minister. She asked me to spread the word that she and her group will rent vans to drive around the Beltway: Washington D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. They will be praying deliverance prayers and pouring out gallons of exorcised water and salt as they drive the route.

Please join in praying and sacrificing for the protection of this group as they take this, their next right step. Let us pray, too, in solidarity for this intention for our nation.

  2. Offered my daily Mass today in our little rural parish (3 parishioners plus our priest) for Stella and crew praying for Washington DC. I have also read her book several times and am in awe of what she and her group do for the Kingdom. Just finished two of Frank Peretti’s Christian novels which artfully describe spiritual warfare, and was thinking of the angels vanquishing the demons around Washington DC as Stella and crew are praying!

    1. Oh my gosh, HOPENJOY, I read one of Peretti’s novels about 30 years ago, and it was amazing and so real! It may have been “This Present Darkness”? It was a fantastic introduction to all the spiritual warfare I have learned about since then.

I was praying yesterday, Beckita, and realized later in the morning that the need to pray may have been why I woke up about 4 am and couldn’t go back to sleep! I just kept praying! Hope they had miracles happen. Stella sounds like a miracle worker!

  3. Statement from the Rockland County NY County Supervisor. He is retired NyPD and speaks on an antifa/ BLM threat to his County.

“Peaceful protests are rooted in our Nationโ€™s history and are welcome as part of our democracy. Violence and anarchy are not and social media chatter that indicates organized anarchists are thinking of threatening our community warrants this response from your County Executive … Think twice about that.

These anarchists come to this County at their own peril. This is not DeBlasio nor Cuomo territory and there will be no equivocation on action. I can tell you as a former police commander they will be dealt with by our law enforcement professionals swiftly and with extreme prejudice. Our law enforcement officers will take any and all necessary steps to protect our community and they will have the full and unwavering support from my Office and every elected leader in Rockland.”

Praying this morning’s rosary, St. John Paul 2 came to mind, particulary the 1976 quote from the ‘final confrontation’. Along with President Trump & Obama. It seems two War time Generals are grandstanding but more likely presenting a naval broadside toward one another.

  4. Interesting take on how fast the media/liberal govenment narrative changes these days.
“While in the beginning, these nationwide lockdowns may have been ordered with the goal of preserving public health, they have long since ceased to be about that. Need proof? Just look at the same politicians who freaked out about pool parties and who still insist on keeping your church, synagogue or mosque closed, and then compare that with their cheering on the protesters. If these governors and mayors truly believed that COVID-19 was such a serious threat that it warranted the destruction of the greatest economy weโ€™ve seen in decades and the wholesale suspension of our civil liberties, they wouldnโ€™t have hesitated to call out the National Guard and stop these protests cold. Nor would these so-called disease โ€œexpertsโ€ publish something so ludicrous as a letter that for all intents and purposes encourages people to spread the virus!
All of which makes me wonder: Did they ever believe COVID-19 was that big a threat? And if they did, when did they realize it wasnโ€™t the monster they thought it was?”

  5. I’d also love to hear Stella’s update.

There is this meme I saw and I thought all tnrs’ s would appreciate it. The meme is a picture of Butters from Southpark and says: “Did we skip the murder hornets? It feels like we’ve skipped the murder hornets!”

    De Profundis

Out of the depths I cry to You,
O Lord; Lord, hear my voice!
Let Your ears be attentive to my voice in supplication:
If you, O Lord, mark iniquities, Lord, who can stand?
But with You is forgiveness, that You may be revered.
I trust in the Lord; my soul trusts in His word.
My soul waits for the Lord,
more than sentinels wait for the dawn.
More than sentinels wait for the dawn,
    let Israel wait for the Lord;
For with the Lord is kindness
    and with Him is plenteous redemption;
And He will redeem Israel from all their iniquities.

    1. I love Candace Owens. Something she said really resonated with me, that I had not heard before… the black community is the only community that defends/uplifts/demands justice when criminals are the ones at the center of all of these sad incidents (not sure that is quite how I would express it, but I canโ€™t think of the right words).

Wow, just wow, she’s a true patriot and Hero. I pray that others listen to the truth she speaks and stop the insanity. She’s correct—it is so painful to admit individual accountability and to individually repent, so very painful, it’s so much easier to blame someone else for our own failings. +Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, I trust in You+

He asked if I had oversea travel and I briefly discussed my Pilgrimage to Our Lady of Guadalupe, and how in this time she is a perfect example for our times. I particularly expressed my displeasure how Obama had a perfect opportunity to meld, unify America being born a Mulatto, white mom and black father. He lost his chance. Yet, Our Lady of Tepeyac united two cultures immediately.

    Hopefully he looks her up,

  8. Perhaps I missed a prayer request somewhere, but would like to pray for the repose of the souls who have died during this time of violence and for the soul of George Floyd. Also prayers for the police officers and others trying to quell the riots. Prayers for the safety of Charlie’s son, as I know he’s a police officer. And, of course, prayers for our President Trump. May the Holy Spirit give him wisdom and guidance.

  9. Regarding Candace Owens video
The first part of the video reminds me of this.
I was telling an unflattering incident regarding an individual.
A nun who was there took me aside and said she was disappointed in what I had said.
At the time I just dismissed it.
Later on down the road when I learned about “detraction”, I then recalled the incident and realized
what the nun was talking about.
I don’t think if I were a member of the grieving Floyd family, especially a child of, I’d need to see my dad flogged further, even though factual.
Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.
I think when the rule that in order for a mother to receive welfare, there could be no husband living there. I think that DESTROYED the black family.
I read that blacks have no respect for authority figures, because they did not have an authoritariian father figure in the home.
    also
Just recently a white man was shopping in (not a poor) black neighborhood, and was standing in line to check out. A black lady got in front of him in line and told hm: “today YOU wait”.

    1. Dear Sorrowful, I think you are mixing apples and oranges.

It is a great charity to expose lies and falsehoods for the sake of reform. That is the intention of what was exposed—to challenge the diabolical narrative that will lead to cultural revolution the likes of which none of us have even seen.

No one else is shining the light of truth on the situation. Candance is in a unique position to do so. There are others who are also in this position—but they are silent. Silence in this situation is not what will lead to the softening of hearts and turning to God we all are begging Him for. Silence was not what ended the massive, massive clergical abuses. Not speaking about the evil and injustices will not make them go away. It is a terrifying, painful, process that needs to be approached in fear and trembling, yes, but also with the fire of the Holy Spirit and courage, fortitude, and all His gifts. +Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, I trust in You+

      1. Bill Cosby tried to hold the black community to a higher standard like Ownens is doing now and look what happened to him. He spoke about this for years and, like Kavanaugh, he was targeted for something so far back in his past that it is almost impossible to defend himself against it. He didn’t have Congress there to defend him and this old man with the “wrong” message got silenced and slandered dispite any good he had tried to accomplished throughout his life.
I feel for Candance because of her not taking the “Mark of the beast ” (how you think and how you act) of the politically correct and how such a beautiful young warrior for justice and truth will be targeted for destruction from here on out.
        Protect her, oh Lord.

    2. for the sake of…sorrowful passion, I can relate. On a wider scale, I beleive, hate is taught and so is coping with difficulties. Black/white, tall/short, fat/skinny, tinsel teeth, four eyes, jock/nerd (to name a few on the milder side of angry adjectives)…hate filled teasing and bullying knows no boundaries. The progandized narratives, staged terror events, suppressive enticing programing, etc. fuel the fires of dysfuction. We ultimately need God and law and order back as our founding fathers declared. We need God in our Church, in federal, state and local branches og govenment, in civil service, in businesses both big and small, and in our homes who will bring Him there and be His hands and feet, imho. I see that unfolding before our eyes. Praise be to God. โค

      1. Well said, Jen. Our essence is that we’re children of God, human persons. Our accidentals are that we might, as you note, be tall or short, thin or heavy, blue-eyed or brown-eyed, etc. Prejudice is a sin problem based on our differences as human beings. (A beautiful black Hatitian woman who participates in the Morning Prayer call in my ministry studies group shared this morning that she couldn’t identify with what is happening on the streets in America right now. She did acknowledge that in Haiti there’s prejudice concerning which shade of black one’s skin is.) In the 1800’s, America launched an effort to raise funds so that those of African ancestry could be sent back to the continent and those who returned founded the countries of Liberia and Sierra Lione. When I lived in Liberia for 2+ years, it was an eye-opener to me to observe how those who had been returned to the continent exerted prejudicial power over the Africans who had never left their homeland. Our differences as blacks and whites and every other shade of skin in this country is not the crux of the rioting problem. Mainstream media and politicians are using the language “systemic racism” right now to imply it’s time to overturn the current system. And destroying America is the real agenda. Here’s a chart, from Google trends, which shows that Black Lives Matter rose as an issue before the 2016 election, just as it been brought forth again in this election year:

    3. I’m certain of this: only God changes hearts. I’m also certain of this: all the words and/or silence in the world won’t matter a whit if it doesn’t stem from humility. I’m fairly certain, but not entirely certain, the majority of talking in the world right now stems from pride. Yes, some of the silence is tragic too.

It really depends on the person and the anointing.

I’ve never had any difficulty speaking, and speaking boldly, but Our Lord, The Silence Himself, has convinced me that it takes more courage to accept an anointing of silence at the moment, while no doubt exhorting certain others to speak up more. This makes sense as He continues the process of perfecting each in humility.

      1. I had a conversation with an old friend about pride. Seems he “doesn’t do stupid well” when it comes to people he considers, well….stupid.
But I had to help him think outside his box about his prejudices and if his idea about being superior ment he was smarter or more capable why he felt he had the right to judge these when still others were smarter and more capable than he? I also stated that, if he considered himself “comfortable enough in his own skin” to be worthy of judging himself as worthy and whole, why then can’t those below his assessment be just as worthy of these same feelings about themselves too?
I believe someone who is truly comfortable in his own skin has neither feelings of inadequacies nore self importance because of this contentment. If one sees what he considers the flaws and weakness of others he is prejudice in his judgement for he is basing these things through the lens of his own fallen nature and will always find fault in others and themselves because of this fallen condition. So prejudices are chronic until we meet in Heaven where we will see God and ourselves as we truly are.
Since we wrestle not against flesh and blood and “this is not our home” our desire for “position” in society is self- inflicted nonsense. If our reason to be is to love and serve God and neighbor in this life than where is social/political placement part of that reality? In 1 Corinthians 12 we are taught that although different, every part of the body is important for its task and as the Body of Christ, we are different but equal in our importance to our individual missions.
Let us then stay the course, fight the good fight and keep the faith.

Aside from all the antifa/msm/Deplorables toxicity, we have private enterprise and religons being co-opted as agents of change into ushering in this cultural revolution. Good intentions aside, complicit or not, make no mistake—-that is exactly what is happening when our diocese and restaurants and businesses roll out “the new normal” Word: it ain’t “new” and it certainly isn’t “normal.” It’s a diabolical cultural revolution smothering of the last vestiges of a democratic republic.

      1. The ongoing challenge for us all will be to cling to Hope. We must and we shall overcome the forces of evil driving the chaos and division only when we remain on God’s side and Love. Christ is the Victor – the same yesterday, today and forever. Throughout the ages, our forefathers were faced with formidable challenges and the cloud of witnesses continue to stand ready to assist us if we but ask. How this translates into human action when it comes to practical details can only be realized when we continue to acknowledge God, then contemplate – deeply contemplate as Charlie has so often exhorted us – and seek the keys and strategies which Holy Spirit inspires, so that we take every next right step. And the smallest of acts has unimaginable impact from Heaven’s view and ripples out to affect the whole of humanity. Christ will magnify all of our smallest acts of love and care for others, making of them – and us – a sign of hope.

One of my heroes, Venerable Cardinal Van Thuan, during an ugly time in Viet Nam, carried such hope and peace into his 13 years of confinement in prison. He offered Mass daily on his personal altar: the very palm of his hand. He was able to have a young man visit him each day, delivering his “stomach medicine”: the small vial lidded with a dropper so then Bishop Van Thuan could place a few drops of wine and a drop of water into his cupped hand. He also wrote prolifically to his people from his prison cell, heartening and inspiring them. A mighty force of love was he… just as we are called to be.

After some varied training in the area of inner healing, in the last few weeks people have been calling and writing, asking for help. I sought no one out. I had been praying that whenever the Lord deemed I was ready to accompany someone, He would present to me the people He wanted to touch. (Previously, I had simply been praying over people to bring them the Lord’s Peace and to cut off spirits tempting to inner turmoil.) If each one is acknowledging and listening, there’s so much to do in the little before us. No matter the ugliness, we can create an atmosphere of peace and hope within us which spills over to the atmosphere and people around us which, I pray, travels on the Breath of the Spirit, encompassing the earth.

    1. Timothy, my son (who is not a theologian) took three years of Latin when he was in high school (we homeschool). The textbook was written in the 1950s, I believe, by an old-school Jesuit. My graduated from high school 7 years ago, and he still has an excellent grasp of the language. If you like, I can scrounge around and dig up the titles of the books and the name of the author.

        1. Timothy, the older theologians most likely took Latin in high school. I did. Two years of it. Some of the theologians then took it in their studies in theology at the college level and/or beyond. Most of the younger ones took up Latin in their college and post graduate work… unless they were blessed with home schooling opportunities like Mickโ€™s son. Best of luck as you pursue your study of Latin.

  15. I have always wondered why we have to suffer from the mistake/disobedience of Adam and Eve, and why Jesus had to suffer, die and rise again.
I think I’m finally beginning to understand what original sin, and how the disobedience of one generation can wreck havoc for all the generations to follow.

Slavery is the original sin of the new world, and unfortunately, the stain is generational. It nearly prevented the first congress from forming a nation, we fought a civil war, we lived through a civil rights movement and still it haunts us. I think if you could tally it up, slavery and racism have cost more american lives and misery than anything else.

I have my prejudices I fight them, but sometimes I don’t even recognize them. I cant begin to understand what black people feel like when they go to a department store and are followed by security guards because they are black, or how black people are routinely pulled over by police for being conspicuous in a white neighborhood. So i pretend we’ve gotten better about race because I don’t experience racism. But it’s like original sin that pulls you in like a sweet smell and pretty soon you’re up to your eyeballs in good intentions and bad actions.

I don’t know if we can redeem ourselves. For more than 400 years we have struggled with this race issue – and while some things change, the driving force is still there. One of my prayer group ladies said to me today – “Man is racist, there will always be sin and evil in the world until Jesus comes again. We are worms, steeped in sin.”

I’m praying for America to be delivered from our original sin. I love my country and I love that this country stated our principals and values before we started– we didn’t try to retrofit our values based on historical record. Maybe our principals are too lofty for us to live up to. Just like no christian can ever live up to all that Jesus has commanded. But we need to pick up our cross, and our constitution and follow what we claim to believe. That we love our neighbor as ourself and that we believe that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with unalienable rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

    1. Madkat, I had decided that I wasn’t going to comment about the racial issues that have been discussed here at ASOH of late, but your excellent comment has prompted me to say something. I’ll try to keep it brief.

You said, “I can’t begin to understand what black people feel like when they go to a department store and are followed by security guards because they are black….” That has in fact happened to me. You said, “…[O]r how black people are routinely pulled over by police for being conspicuous in a white neighborhood.” This happened to my dad some years ago when he was visiting my brother, who lived in an upscale all-white (except for him) neighborhood in a large New England city. I was called “ni**er” on several occasions in my school years. My grandparents born in the South came up under Jim Crow; my grandparents born in the North might as well have. My great-great grandparents were all slaves; one of my great-great grandfathers was the product of a slave rape. All of this was terribly wrong, and it is a part of American history and of my history.

To which I say, “So what?” You didn’t do any of this to my ancestors or me. Neither did anybody else here at ASOH. Neither did my husband’s family, or my friends, or any of the white people that I’ve known or interacted with in the past 30 or so years. Did injustices happen to me and to my family? Absolutely. Should I hold white people accountable in general? Absolutely not. Should you or any other white person feel guilty about such injustices that have occurred but that you were not responsible for? No. Feeling sadness or even anger that those things happened, I can understand. But YOU DIDN’T DO them.

It rather ticks me off when I hear statements like, “We’re all guilty of/responsible for such and such a sin/fault/etc.” No, we are not. I don’t “do” labels. I refuse to wear the label of “sellout” or “race traitor” because I don’t vote for Democrats. I refuse to wear the label of “deplorable” simply because I believe in God, family, limited government, and the Second Amendment. I refuse to wear the label of “anti-choice” because I believe in the sanctity of human life. And I hope and pray that you and others here refuse to wear the label “racist” simply because some woke, condescending leftists continually beat the drum that “all white people are racists even if they don’t know that they are.”

It’s OK that you don’t know how a black person feels when he is discriminated against. I don’t know how a white person feels when he gets shamed for being white and is told to “check your privilege” (whatever that asinine statement even means); or when he loses out on a job for which he was well qualified, because the company decided to make an affirmative-action hire in order to check some boxes. There are racists and other idiots in the world. So what? They need to change; I need to pray that they change. They need to stop being jerks; I need to get over that they are jerks. And then I need to move on. Everybody needs to move on.

What happened to George Floyd was an injustice of the highest order. The same is true in the Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor cases. May those truly responsible for these murders be punished to the fullest extent of the law, and may God have mercy on their souls. We all need to grieve over the injustice of it all; and then we need to move on, while trying to make ourselves, and the world, more Christ-like.

I love this country. She is the greatest country in the history of the world. She is not perfect by any means; and slavery and racial discrimination are stains on her history. But I thank God every day that my ancestors ended up on slave ships; because otherwise, my family and I never would have had the privilege of living in these amazing, blessed United States. “Oh, happy fault,” as it were.

Well, I’ve said a lot more than I intended too (sorry; I do that a lot); and I don’t think I’m expressing myself very well. I do hope, though, that you and everybody else here get what I’m trying to say. What it boils down to is this: Racism is not like original sin. Americans (and, in particular, white Americans) are not all born with it as a stain upon their souls or upon their consciousness/subconsciousness; and it is not something for which everyone needs to atone or from which everyone needs to be cleansed through some “sacramental” absolution. America is not institutionally racist, and the vast majority of Americans are not individually racist. We need to stop beating ourselves and each other up over it. If we all try to do that which you detailed in the final two sentences of your comment, we won’t reach perfection; but we’ll be a whole lot closer than we are now.

God bless you, Madkat; God bless all here; and God bless America.

      1. Mick– how eloquent and thoughtful! I treasure your reflections so much. It is frustrating to hear the negativity and assumptions that are tossed around in an effort to divide the citizens in this country. My husband teaches the pre-licensing courses required to obtain insurance licenses. He’s done that for 25 years. I’ve helped out in the office for 11 years. We love working with our students to help them achieve goals that will give them an opportunity for a new and rewarding career. We really get close to many of our students– they are truly dear to our hearts—black and white. We have ongoing relationships with them because of continuing education needs that they have, as well as training their employees that they have hired. When I hear/read about terrible relations between the races, I just don’t get it– I sure don’t see it in my life experiences. I just love people and love to interact with them. It doesn’t matter about nationality, religion, race, etc, etc, etc. There are wonderful people and not so wonderful people everywhere– across the board— but I’m sure everyone has noticed that pouring out Love to those you meet can almost always bring out a positive response. It rankles me when I hear all this negativity ’cause it just doesn’t ring true for me–the work that we do has given me the opportunity to have extended exposure to many, many black men and women over the years and my experiences don’t match the crummy narrative that is being put forth. I’m glad that my husband and I don’t hold each other accountable for our forefathers’ bad actions. His ancestor was an Indian fighter and I have some Indian ancestors!

      3. Well said Mick. Thank you. We had a blm march here in upstate ny Glens Falls and while praying the Chaplet just now, I thought of Saint Issac Joques. His statue is present at the southern shore of Lake George. He has his arm outstretched, blessing the Lake: Lac du Sacrament. Lake of the Blessed Sacrament.

Clearly visible is his outstretched hand with a couple fingers missing. They were bitten off by the Mohawk Indian sqaws when he was captured and taken a slave. After a while, he escaped with the help of Dutch Protestants in Albany NY making his way to nyc and beyond to France.

          1. Two reasons I love this community is Charlie’s writing makes so much sense! Secondly–the people here who comment are so on fire for their faith and love our Catholic Church so much. I’ve been thinking about the atmosphere in our country right now and the attitude that we’re all racist and hateful. I believe one cannot hate people and be in love with Our Lord. Someone mentioned that insecurity causes hate toward others. I agree. When one is in a good relationship with Our Creator, one is filled with the knowledge that God loves me and I am precious and of great value. One also realizes how precious and of great value is every single person Our Lord has put on this earth. The more one focuses on Our Lord, the more peaceful and and joyful and confident one is, and the easier it is to love. The folks in this community radiate God’s love.

I do understand. I kid you not. Since my first pregnancy, 30 years ago, I have been wearing a hooded wool cape in the winter/cold weather. I love the warmth and ease of use and at the time it was perfect for my growing tummy. I am not a fan of shopping, I do love to browse and just walk around and take in the environment, scope out new products, watch people, and so on. However, when I did go into stores wearing my cape, I was followed around and surveilled constantly. When it occurred to me that I’d been pegged for a potential shoplifter, I would unbutton my coat and/or remove it and throw it over the side of my cart in order to ease the store keepers minds. After a while, I was happy to provide the dry run “scenario” for trainning. ๐Ÿ˜‰

At times, I’d see how long it would take or how many isles I would get through before the store manager would show up and pretend to be busy doing something within my purview. Then, if I was feisty, I would ask if I could help them? โค

      1. Ha, Jen! When my dad was stopped when he was walking in my brother’s swanky neighborhood, it turned out to be pretty funny. My dad (then in his 60s but looking like he was 40-something) really did look out of place in the neighborhood. The cop was just doing his job and checking out the situation. My dad ended up having a nice conversation with him for several minutes. He’s like that: he’s smiley, cheerful, a great conversationalist, the most wonderful guy you’ll ever meet. Plus, when he told the cop who his son was (a basketball coach for one of the colleges in that city), the cop knew that my dad was OK. Note to self: Always, always name-drop. ๐Ÿ™‚

  18. Today is the first Saturday of the month. And Mary asked for special prayers to console her Immaculate Heart on this day. And some have asked “Why a Saturday?”. I think some saints and mystics have answered that it was because the first Saturday after Jesus had died that it was the only day when Mary was without her Jesus when he laid at rest in the tomb. So let us offer our little special prayers to console Mary on this first Saturday and to pray for peace and healing and rest for our land during these times.

PS It looks as though I will be able to finally receive Jesus this week! Strangely, our bishop says Communion will be given after the final blessing, end of Mass. Any others doing this? I guess it’s to eliminate walking back and forth.

    Throughout the four years of this Presidency, the forces of evil have been attacking, utilizing every one of their assets. Their goal is simple: to control the world in its entirety. President Trump’s election was a disaster that they hadn’t quite expected. Now they’re faced with a distinctly unpleasant possibility. In this coming November, the brave people of the USA may stand up again in opposition to the idea of global governance, voting for all that is good and true, to be counted once more. Should this happen, the children of darkness that Archbishop Viganรฒ refers to in his letter, will be forced to shelve their plans for a One World Government for yet another four years. The prince of evil, the man who still stands unrevealed in the shadows, will be restrained for yet a little while more … ;

However, someone here posted re Pennsylvania and the recent passage of a bill that opposes the state closure due to the Governor’s order re Corona19 virus response. The following article seems to say that things are not settled.
