Anthony Mullen, prominent Marian advocate and devotee in our times, died unexpectedly on Saturday, March 10th. He was a dear friend of TNRS and ASOH. Charlie featured several pieces written by Tony who was filled with zeal for promoting many initiatives of nurturing faith, including Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary and the Flame of Love Movement for which he was the National Director in the United States.

I am indebted to Tony for his love and care when I first stepped into the managing editor role at TNRS. He contacted me right away and offered ongoing words of advice, suggestion, wisdom and affirmation. I loved the way he had culled the special prayers from the Church-approved messages from Jesus and Mary for our times. Then, on Divine Mercy Sunday last year, he presented this collection of prayers and spiritual practices and, with his usual fervor, he challenged us by saying if we wanted to hasten the Triumph of Our Lady’s Immaculate Heart, we’d best get crackin’ with the spiritual tasks on his list, simply adding each one, a step at a time, to our daily regimen.

Surely, Tony is interceding for us. Let us pray for the repose of his soul and for strength and consolation for his family and many friends who love him.

Anthony J. Mullen has served as Chairman of the Children of the Father Foundation since 1997, when he founded the charity as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization under the spiritual direction of Father Shaun Mahoney.

Under his leadership, the foundation has grown to become the world’s largest provider of reduced cost materials on the Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary. The MyConsecration.org website represents the latest step in expanding efforts to bring the devotion to every corner of the world.

He was appointed by the Flame of Love Movement of the Immaculate Heart of Mary under Cardinal Peter Erdo to be the Coordinator in the United States for the Movement in 2013.

Mullen is a contributor to The Catholic Standard and Times, the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. He also has edited several Catholic books and released the DVD “Giving God the Love We Should,” which features Cardinal Justin Rigali.

Mullen is a member of Legatus, the Militia of the Immaculata and the Stewards of St. John Neumann. He has received the St. Maximilian Kolbe Award for outstanding evangelization/outreach from the In His Sign Network.

He was married to Linda Mullen for 33 years until God called her home on February 26, 2013.  Linda was the key person who built the Apostolate during the first 10 years.  They have four children Kimberly, Andrew, Kelly and Matthew and God gave them two children in law: Quincy and Jessica.

It is with a heavy heart that I am letting all on our Facebook page know that Anthony Mullen, our National Director, passed away yesterday due to a heart attack. Tony was working hard traveling to events and spreading the Flame of Love. He literally gave all for Our Lady’s Cause-holding absolutely nothing back. He has fought the good fight! (2 Timothy 4:7). Please pray for Tony and his family and our Flame of Love Movement family across the nation and the world. As more information becomes available about arrangements I will post it here.

Tony gave a recent interview and a recent talk posted on this page which explains so well the Flame of Love Movement and the Greatest Grace since the Word Became Flesh. I believe the Holy SPirit through the Immaculate Hands of Our Mother Mary has left us with these gifts of his teachings. I will repost them and move them up the page for easy sharing. We grieve and mourn today but we know that Tony is in Christ and has joined his lovely wife Linda. Today’s reading from Ephesians could not be more perfect:

For by grace you have been saved through faith,
and this is not from you; it is the gift of God;
it is not from works, so no one may boast.
For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works
that God has prepared in advance,
that we should live in them.(Ephesians 2)

Tony lived well the works that were prepared for him in advance, Our Lady’s Causes including widespread distribution and promotion of Total Consecration to Jesus through Mary and The Flame of Love Grace! Thank you Tony for helping so many to be formed by the Holy Spirit and Mary so that we would truly be transformed into Christ. Now he is united to Jesus for all eternity! We will pray for you Tony- pray for us!

Oh Tony! Blessed be God in the wonder of your being! May your precious soul, through His mercy, rest in peace. And when we, the people of the Kingdom, sing the Song of Thanksgiving with you, Tony, and all the people of Heaven, please lean toward our TNRS ear that our voices may blend in one accord of faith, hope and unending love.

  1. Tony Mullen was a tireless advocate on behalf of the Flame of Love Devotion and one of the great Marian devotees of our time. He will be deeply missed here, but I have no doubt he will be spending his time now advocating for us here and for his beloved Church.

Where Lazarus, is poor no longer, may he have eternal rest. I am the resurrection and the Life. The man who believes in me will live even if he dies, and every living person who puts his faith in me will never suffer eternal death.

  8. I have been sleeping on the job and I claim flu fog brain for my defense. Several days ago an annual great event occurred again: it was SteveBC’s birthday!   11. I had the pleasure of meeting Tony on several occasions and had attended a talk he had given just last Monday. One of my friends who is involved in the Flame of Love movement in my city got a text from Tony at 8:30am Saturday morning offering his prayers for the success of our Catholic Women’s Conference that was taking place later that day. We were shocked and saddened to learn, as we were working the conference that he had passed. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his children, family and many friends. Eternal Rest grant to him Oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him.

            1. Steve. It would be an honor to be a hall monitor here. I am not one to name names, but Beckita’s performance has been suspect recently. She’ll probably use the excuse that she’s had the flu or something like that. Incidentally, it’s probably best we just keep this conversation between us.

                  1. My defense: I grew up with FIVE brothers. And, yes, in my youth I have actually “sung” this song to people. (And, now, the truth, which you already knew, is fully evident: Beckita ain’t no saint.) In light of this “discussion” yet at the risk of being demoted by Charlie and, even worse, having my ASOH salary cut in half and delivered as celery, it would be a shame to leave this “music” out of SteveBC’s celebration. (Light bulb! When I Face Time my Broseph Joseph in NZ on his next birthday, I can actually “sing” this rendition to him. I doubt very much that Father would harmonize with me but I’m sure he would hear my confession.) (Frightening to think I’m actually feeling much better today. What does this portend?)       2. There have been better times, I’m praying to improve soon. Meanwhile I’m offering my suffering for the souls of purgatory and other intentions. I hope to be better especially because I have a wonderful 11 year old son!

  17. This article speaks to a significant statement by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. It makes me wonder anew at the wolves in sheep’s clothing who must surely surround Pope Francis, working to undermine his papacy by thwarting Pope Francis’ good intent in Amoris Laetitia, entangling it with malicious disobedience which has been expressed and promoted long before Pope Francis was elected Holy Father.

    That said, I do pray that Pope Francis would dialogue with those who have presented the dubia. I do pray that our Holy Father would publicly correct those bishops’ conferences who have publicly proclaimed a disobedient stance concerning communion for the remarried.

    The Pope Emeritus praised his successor as a man of profound theological formation

    Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI has said there is an “inner continuity” between his pontificate and that of Pope Francis, and described his successor as a “man of profound philosophical and theological formation”.

    The words came in a letter published by Mgr Dario Edoardo Viganò, prefect of the Secretariat for Communication, as the Vatican released a series of books on the Theology of Pope Francis. Benedict XVI wrote the letter in thanks for having received an advance copy of the series.

    The emeritus pope said that it “contradicts the foolish prejudice of those who see Pope Francis as someone who lacks a particular theological and philosophical formation, while I would have been solely a theorist of theology with little understanding of the concrete lives of today’s Christian.”

    The series is edited by Don Roberto Repole, president of the Italian Theological Association.

    “The small volumes show rightly that Pope Francis is a man of profound philosophical and theological formation,” Benedict XVI added, “And therefore help to see the inner continuity between the two pontificates, even with all the differences in style and temperament.”

    Br Giulio Cesareo, OFM, head of Libreria Editrice Vaticana, said that translations of the series into English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Polish and Romanian have already been commissioned.

  18. I was travelling when I heard this very sad news of Tony Mullen’s passing. I too am indebted to Tony for all he contributed. I was spiritually enriched and encouraged by his writings and by the video he made on the ‘Triumph of Mary and the New Pentecost’
    I am sad we have lost such a great champion for Jesus, our Divine Saviour and the Blessed Virgin Mary but God must have called Tony home to enjoy his well earned reward.
    We will miss you greatly Tony, please pray for us .

    Very Sad News about Our Founder Tony Mullen

    Dear Flame of Love Family,

    It is with heavy hearts that we share some very sad news; our very dear and beloved National Director Tony Mullen passed away on Saturday, March 10th. He was supposed to attend an award ceremony to receive an award in the Bonner & Prendergast Catholic High School Hall of Fame but when he didn’t show they went to his home to look for him. He had a heart attack but thankfully, was revived when they reached him and breathing on his own when he reached the hospital. His children, siblings and family were able to be with him and spend precious time with him when he passed. I believe this was Our Lady and Our Lord granting Tony and his family one last Flame of Love Grace.

    This is a very sad time for those of us in leadership and for the whole Flame of Love movement. Tony was a tireless servant of God who inspired us by his words and the way he lived his life. He gave such a wonderful example of living the Flame of Love messages with his whole heart. He was a faithful, humble and holy man who lived his faith and his consecration to Our Blessed Mother very devoutly. He was an inspiration to so very many people and will be missed!

    Please keep Tony and his family in your prayers. May God grant us comfort and give consolation to his mother, children and grandchildren, siblings and other family members. Please also pray for the Flame of Love movement in the United States that God will continue to bless us and that He will raise up a new leader to serve as our National Director.

    Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday March 14th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and on Thursday morning March 15th starting 9:30 until 10:45 AM. Mass of Christian burial will start at 11:00 AM in St. Mary Magdalene Church, 2400 Providence Road, Media, Pa. 19063. Interment will follow Mass in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.

    In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to The Children of the Father Foundation 337 Sagamore Road, Havertown, PA l9083 or in Tony’s name to the Bonner & Prendie Annual Appeal 403 North Lansdowne Ave. Drexel Hill, PA 19026.

    I was fortunate to hear Tony speak at our church last year and saw first hand how he truly and tirelessly lived to spread the Flame of Love. Put my meager efforts to shame, for sure. Interesting how he past on Laetare Sunday, a day of refreshment, that may now turn into Eternal Rest well deserved.

    He will be missed, and I will pray for him and all of those he left behind.

  21. Dear Beckita, I hope you are recovering from the FLU and also Father Wang. This is an awful virus to kick and every time you think you are better you get sick again.Prayers for a full recovery.I wrote that like I want you to recover from Father but I think you know what I mean.
